The lady at the front desk was very nice. I went for the open pickle ball. I was told by the Instructor there that basically everybody here knows what they’re doing and nobody wants to play with the beginner. I have a black belt in Jiu Jitsu. I have played tennis and other sports. He was inferring. I couldn’t keep up and I feel judged me incorrectly. But most important, it’s just the Y. It’s not an elite club that you don’t welcome newbies to. I’m trying to find a new sport and felt very discouraged when I left. I feel that was really rude. If they’re going to be so cliquish, then they should post it on the website as a league not an open court. He’s an instructor. He said playing the game was not a problem. It’s knowing how to keep score and rotate. So the people at this Y are so rude that they can’t help someone with that. Say OK rotate or help keep the score. Horrible

I called the help desk to inquire about the swim lessons. After talking for 15 mins I was not able to get any good information. She kept on giggling to other people that she does not understand my questions. I felt she was very unprofessional. When I said to give the line to someone else to whom I can talk properly she put me on a long hold. I felt her behavior extremely disrespectful and unapologetic. I hope they train their staff well to deal with customers.

It's a decent gym and I am happy with it but I've only been able to go once because their child care is always closed.

The location of this Y is perfect since it’s just a mile from our home.
The gym is tiny in comparison to the newer, much larger and updated Y’s, but it does provide you with everything you need for a good workout.
My biggest complaint is with the pool.
They seem to routinely be understaffed with lifeguards.
I’ve been in the pool for less than 10 minutes on multiple occasions when I was informed they would be closing the pool and reopening in 15 minutes because there was only 1 guard on duty.
More than once I arrived at 5am to swim, only to be told the lifeguard didn’t show up (this morning was the 3rd time it’s happened).
The staff has always been friendly, so I really want to rate it higher. But the inconsistency with the pool and the underwhelming gym makes it hard to give it anything higher than a 2 star, especially when you see what other Y’s offer at the same price.

I've traveled to 6 states so far and had a membership in all those states for the Y. This facility is probably the WORST I've ever been to. There staff are just not friendly and frankly very rude. I one time ask someone where the dance class was and he talked to me like I was stupid. I've never been in there before. They also are limited in supplies. Every other facility I've been to small or large has mats, towels, different equipment to help you with your fitness practice. This facility lacks that and made excuses that it was because of covid when we're in 2023 and every other facility including the nearby onei in Lansdale supplies mats. They definitely can loan you a Pilates ball but they can't lend you a mat. The energy of this whole facility is off and it shows.

We've gone here for our sons' swimming lessons for over a year. The experience has been hit-or-miss as there seems to be a real staffing shortage for instructors and several of them aren't very good. The lesson times are also very limited and mostly available on Saturdays.

Today I was told of a new policy that will ensure we don't return. The YMCA has decided that we can no longer sign up our children for classes at the same time as full-membership families. My youngest son has special needs and his membership is paid for through insurance. Apparently this also means he is treated like a second-class member and we will be edged out of the already limited lesson times that he can attend. My other son has a lessons-only membership so he is also not able to sign up until a week after registration opens.

I'm sure this is just their most recent play to get more people to sign up for family memberships but instead it means we'll be dropping our memberships altogether and no longer attending any lessons.

This is the last straw among many other issues including:
- rude staff
- outdated facility
- limited parking
- lack of communication

We have been a member here for about 8 years and pre-covid it was awesome we actually stopped using this facility because the employees were not very nice, the rules and I did not like the swim instructor and his rules that he made up. But seeing the reviews have gotten better we might give this Y a try again

The Staff are ALWAYS Friendly and Helpful.
It's ALWAYS Clean and Organized.
This YMCA is ALWAYS Fun, and Has Many Programs to Join.
I Only Had 3 Very Easy and Fun Water Exercise Classes. And I lost 10 Pounds.
No Struggle, And like I said, FUN.
I WOULD GREATLY RECOMMEND THIS YMCA.

Typically we go to the Lansdale YMCA, but the Indian Valley is preferred a bit more for me. Very friendly desk up front, and overall a clean and inviting recreational center. Recommend!

It’s basically not a YMCA but an annex of Peter Becker’s retirement community. It’s very unfortunate, as surrounding YMCAs get really high marks. This one is old, needs a complete remodel. The treadmill and elliptical machines are taken by the PB folks all day and all night. The employees and trainers are not bad, it’s just unfortunate that this area does not have a high-class Y like you see in the Main Line.

No childcare since COVID. Too expensive. Was a nice place but couldn't just drop by to swim because I would have needed to reserve a lap lane. It was a wonderful place pre-covid. We tried to hold on but the childcare never came back, so we're out. It was very expensive.

New management & staff are very unfriendly and unwelcoming. They are committed to their own ideas of how it should run. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. I will never return to this YMCA.

Maria and I have made multiple complaints about the temperature of the Indian valley YMCA and I have been to multiple YMCA’S in the area. The Indian Valley YMCA is considerably hotter than any other YMCA I have ever been to. When I go to the gym I work out hard and do a lot of cardio, I live next to the Indian Calley YMCA only for convenience reasons because I know every time I work out in there it takes a toll on my health and I can not work out the way I want to as it is too warm to do the intense cardio I am used too. This is a shame for a few reasons, one being that somebody could be seriously sick or injured from heat stroke and or dehydration. Also, I pay the same amount of money to go to the Indian Valley YMCA even though the conditions there are of no comparison to any of the other YMCA’s. There is not enough equipment and the heat is a serious health hazard to the people that pay a lot of money to go there to work out. I have complained about this numerous times to numerous staff at the Indian Valley YMCA, and all I get is an explanation of how it is an old building with unfortunate window placement, and a blank stare. If it is an old building I understand, but I should not be expected to pay full price as this is the main gym I go to and It is simply unhealthy and quite frankly, it is just not fair. If the staff at the Indian Valley YMCA is unable to keep the temperature set reasonably as I am working out, then my monthly bill should be considerably reduced!!!

I’m so disappointed in the swim program. There is no opportunity for kids to learn to swim unless they are forced to take swim classes which are extra on top of the already 80.00 a month we pay. I paid for lessons for over a year for my son. He was doing so great and whenever I’d bring him to practice on our own - their policy is they must wear a full out life vest unless they can swim laps. Which causes regression. I was not paying for lessons where he could swim on his own or with minimal assistance only to regress any other time I’d take him. The new policy is just ridiculous. And if you complain - they’ll give you a total of 4 -1/2 hour options you can practice for a swim test at the most inconvenient times OR they’ll tell you they can practice and swim on their own in a lesson - which is what they want for even more of your money...

Our family has been going to the YMCA for about 12 years now. The facilities are kept very clean. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The youth aquatics program is really good - our kids started with the baby classes and worked their way to the top skill level. I feel they now have excellent swimming skills because of these classes. Some of the other youth classes are hit or miss. My son experienced some bullying in one of the sport classes and the instructors really did nothing. In the dodgeball class the other kids were so rough that my kids were getting hurt every classes and decided they didn’t want to go back any more. The gymnastics classes, on the other hand, were a favorite among my two girls. Each of my kids also seemed to enjoy the taekwando classes offered there.
The only other downside at this Y is that some of the youth programs that used to be free as a member are now charged a fee. I guess some people might having been signing up and then not showing up when it was free. But I wish they hadn’t made the fees so expensive. When you factor in the annual cost of membership plus class frees for three kids it really adds up fast.

Should change their name to the Indian Valley Senior Center. Go there with your kids and you will have old ladies rolling their eyes at you and acting like you’re invading their space. Suggestion - give families equal space and do not kick them out of areas when there are classes - this only feeds the negativity from the senior citizen clientele who act like they own the place.

From the first time I joined in 2005, I knew this was the place I wanted to exercise. The staff and those who take part in the classes are top notch. I have found new friends and a “family.”

I love the staff and community members they've always been so kind to my family and I. One time I mistakenly joined a silver sneakers zumba class and I went to leave and most of the class over 60 years said oh no you have to stay now. It was great! I couldn't keep up at 30 lol

I only gave it a three star because they have sign up charts for machines, meaning you can only use them for 30 minutes during busy times which forces me to go during non busy times.

Staff is nice and the babysitting is super nice. my kids loved it which is the reason for my 4 stars. For the average person this place is great. But, as a weightlifter, it is not a good fit for me. First off u are forced to wear shoes in the gym ( I know the average lifter this doesn't affect them so looses no stars for this) and I ppowerlit which is safer barefoot (just an opinion you don't have to agree). Second - no heavy mats for deadlift or power cleans ect and if u don't want your floor messed up then u need to provide this. Third there is cardiovascular equipment in the weight area. This is clutter. Fourth- one power rack, one squat rack and if u are a lifter you know how often people use the rack for things that would be easily picked up from the floor making a power rack a coveted piece of eequipment in a cardio cluttered gym. Regardless these are the gripes of few probably and I thought should be shared but I wouldn't rate a CLEAN, friendly gym poorly for it. One star lost for the cardiovascular clutter. And having 2 Smith racks but one power rack and no heavy mats or a good spot to lift outside of a machine.

Pool is kept way to warm for lap swimming. After 16 laps I was sweating - yeah, SWEATING. Now I go to pool at Souderton high school to swim.

It’s a great place for a solo workout or swim, but where it really shines is in the classes. They host many different types of classes - Kettlebell, Zumba, Tabata, Yoga, Body Pump, Spin, etc. I’ve enjoyed every one I’ve taken. My personal favorites are the workouts with kettlebells. They have an aerobic version of kettlebells on Thursdays and a strength training version on Tuesdays. The classes are perfect for people trying to mix strength training, cardio, and toning. The instructors are both experienced and kind and the ambience is friendly to families, mature people, and people with disabilities. Great place. Try the kettlebell classes!

Pool is kept at a very warm temperature for seniors and infants. They do not take into consideration that the water is far too warm for safe lap swimming.
