My daughter has been to 2 other dance schools and IDA is where she is happy and thrives. Ms Jamie and all the teachers are very professional, passionate, fun, and creative. But what makes IDA so special is the balance of mentoring teachers, non-profit fundraising and volunteering opportunities and "professional" productions (without having to purchase $100 costumes for each class!!!) so that dancers feel connected to a community of like-minded people. IDA is a special studio. Our 10 years old daughter has been dancing there for the last 7 years and our 7 years old has been at IDA for the past 4 years. Our youngest was so excited to start this past year. Ms. Jamie and all her teachers are loving, supportive, energetic - there are not enough words to describe how positive our experience has been. Our oldest daughter has grown as a dancer under the guidance of all her exceptional teachers at IDA. We were impressed at how IDA handled the Covid pandemic with virtual and outdoor class options, we love all the events like the Pajama Jam, and the recitals have been a special part of our family celebrations. My husband and I highly recommend IDA for classes and birthday parties. Miss Jamie, Miss Rosemary and Miss Amy are amazing teachers who truly make the dance class fun and teach in a way that is developmentally appropriate to each age group. Miss Rosemary is the perfect blend of talent, warmth, fun and excellent with young kids. Miss Amy made a positive connection with our daughter and creates a warm, welcoming dance environment for every dancer to blossom and build their confidence. Our daughters love coming to class each week and are so excited to show us their new dance moves. In addition to the dance classes being outstanding, Miss Jamie and Miss Rosemary were so talented and fun in creating birthday parties that were special for each of our girls while being a blast for their friends too. We love IDA! My oldest has been dancing at IDA for several years now and she is having a blast. The teachers are kind, patient, and encouraging as they help each dancer develop their skills and learn the art of dance! We have been very happy with the class offerings. IDA offers many different styles and we have always been able to find convenient class times. They also offer camps in the summer and a solo/duet performance in the winter. Jamie and her team keep the dancers excited, learning, and growing all year round!
I should add that my youngest has been dancing at IDA for a couple of years. The teachers are especially loving with the young dancers and they make them feel so special.

IDA is an excellent, supportive dance studio. My daughter loves being there - it has become her home away from home after school. The teachers are top-notch with instruction, creativity, and kindness. It is a warm atmosphere, and the teachers strive for the students to learn, grow, and have fun. There are many opportunities for each student to grow in the area they choose (solo performance, different styles of dance, choreography, etc) The recitals are always wonderful - they are a highlight of the year! This year (2020-2021, during Covid), IDA was especially amazing and handled everything with professionalism and care. The recital (and stage!) was beyond exceptional. IDA is an amazing organization. There is something for everybody. While there are recitals (broken up by age level so they are a beautiful length!!) at the end of the school year, there are so many performance opportunities through the year, too. IDA dancers perform at many events, they have opportunities to partake in solo/duet recital pieces mid year, they can sign up for week long dance intensives, all while focusing on the art of dance and giving back to the community. There are various dance companies depending on interest, too. It’s truly a special and unique place!!

Having had exposure to several dance studios in the area, this is THE ONE. Besides the amazing professional instructors, focus on skill development, and beautiful choreography, this place is like a family to my girls. It is supportive and fun, and with a focus on dance as art. And IDA is truly innovative in giving dancers the opportunities to perform in the community through the repertory companies. No costumes to buy for performances and recitals, and no 5 hour recitals (they are split into smaller recitals of like ages/levels). Summer camps are incredible too.. clear skill progression in just one week and with an impressive performance at week's end. My girls having been there for ~7 years, and they absolutely love it.

When the Pandemic started, my daughter’s life changed dramatically - she went from being a competitive gymnast practicing at least 7 hours a week and traveling to compete most weekends, to no practices, no competitions- she lost her identity. In October my daughter went to an outdoor dance birthday party and loved it so much we signed up for classes the following week. From Modern/lyrical to jazz and ballet it wasn’t long before my daughter’s light came back- shining even brighter than ever before! IDA is not “just a dance studio”- it is a very special place that cultivates young dancers and brings out confidence and poise, all in a safe place. The teachers are the best of the best- their love for dance and for all of their dancers is infectious. Their attention to detail, expertise in their craft, and commitment to provide each dancer a place to let go of the stress of the world and let the steps take over, is admirable. I have seen such growth and confidence in my daughter since starting at IDA- her new found love of dance, but more importantly her love of herself and new friendships has been a dance all it’s own.

Jamie Lipskin and her staff create a culture of inclusion and empowerment, by welcoming everyone to dance regardless of ability and teaching the dancers to give and receive critiques. IDA is one of the most welcoming and enjoyable communities my family and I have been a part of. Each and every teacher inspires their students to not only be a better dancer, but a better person. This studio is more than just the arts. There are so many class options, summer camp programs, and events that showcase what the students learn.

Not only is do the teachers go above and beyond during a normal year, I have never seen teachers come together so quickly and eagerly to do the best they can through this global pandemic. The studios are COVID-19 safe along with virtual learning opportunities.

I went to IDA for 7 years and graduated not too long ago and they geniunely changed my life. IDA is filled with the most talented, kind-hearted, supportive teachers, and the dancers become your best friends. They are truly a family. The programs are amazing and I was challenged as a dancer without ever feeling uncomfortable or overworked. They simply run a dance studio perfectly and make everyone feel included.
