I have been a loyal student of Christina at IYIP for going on 4 years now. This work is so powerful, and Christina is an absolute pro. She is extremely knowledgeable and so in-tune with her students.

You absolutely feel seen here. In the Iyengar tradition, we are each working on our specific technique. This is not a room where the teacher sets a beat, and we all just go through the asana as anonymous participants. Every moment of the class is tailored to the specific students in the class. Every modification for every body type, size, and ableness is always front and center.

I enjoy a good "flow" class at a standard studio, but I would never be able to appreciate that work or have the technique to do the flow with awareness and health were it not for the Iyengar practice. The Iyengar method is careful, specific, slow, and deeply concerned with the specific bodies in the room. I can't recommend it enough. If you want to REALLY understand what all this yoga stuff is about, you need to spend some time at IYIP. High Recommend. 💕💕💕💕🧘‍♂️

The Iyengar Yoga Institute of Pittsburgh is one of the few studios continuing to offer high quality yoga instruction on a daily basis. In spite of covid-19, IYIP has moved to a online streaming model which is easy to use - 24 hour class passes are available, which allow students to take as many classes as they wish during that 24 hour time period (about 2-3 classes offered per day, depending on the schedule). Since these yoga classes are streamed, I have been able to communicate my personal needs to my yoga teachers, such as if I have an injury and need modifications for the class that day. I am also able to get feedback from my teachers if I have any questions about the practice.

Words cannot describe how much I appreciate the work that is done at Iyengar Yoga Institute of Pittsburgh. All of the teachers are extremely knowledgeable in yoga. They specialize in differentiating class for students with a wide variety of needs.

If you are hesitant about starting or continuing your yoga practice from home, this is a great place to start. Contact Sara if you have questions!

A unique nonprofit studio and community to be a part of if you're looking for detailed instruction and a deeper understanding of body mechanics. The instructors are fantastic- patient, thorough, and able to modify nearly any posture to accommodate a host of therapeutic issues. Truly an amazing experience.

Great studio. Patient teachers who take the time to explain the minutiae of body awareness. Plus they're a non-profit so you know they're just doing it for the love of yoga.

I've had a brilliant experience with Sunday evening restorative yoga with Michelle. Modifications to restorative poses require experience, intuition and creativity. I've found all of these here! I recommend to everyone I know to come feel the benefits of what restorative yoga can do. Thank you and namaste!

Because I am over 60, I take supported yoga when I can. The instructors are so kind, caring & patient!
I got a great work out there and felt welcome. Unfortunately it's a bit of a drive for me and life got in the way. I would love to start back, but need to find a good time that fits my schedule. Compared to other studios, Yoga on Centre is affordable and worth the effort!

I have been going to this yoga studio for at least ten years. The teachers are skilled and very knowledgeable. It is an extremely welcoming environment for the beginner and the seasoned student. The studio is beautiful and well-equipped with all you need for the Iyengar method. I have seen remarkable change in students' general health on many occasions. Everyone is welcome. It's almost like a second home where one can anticipate peace, acceptance, and skill growth at the level you find comfortable. So grateful I landed here way back when.

The best Yoga school in Pittsburgh for Iyengar yoga. This school provides seasoned instructors and has many classes that are unavailable anywhere else. The restorative and therapeutic classes in particular are unique to Yoga on Centre.

Having gone through the 500 hour teacher training course with Sara, Yoga on Centre is my yoga home for Iyengar yoga in PIttsburgh, I have attended numerous teacher training weeks at various venues around the country, and after 15 years...each and every time I attend one of Sara's or Christine's classes, my knowledge, compassion for students, and my own practice develops. I frequently send my students to Yoga on Centre due to their emphasis on Yoga as Therapy and I just plain love the energy of this fully equiipped studio.

Having done Yoga for 15+ years, all over the country, I can confidently say that Yoga on Center is one of the best! Sarah Azarius is an outstanding practitioner who has the unique ability to also teach - and to me is like a scientist of Yoga. I highly recommend Yoga on Center and their entire staff, to anyone looking for real knowledge and learning.

I had a very mediocre experience. The teacher seemed disinterested, stopped class to look up pose names a few times, and left the class midway through to go to the bathroom.

I've recently turned to yoga at the advice of my chiropractor. I have absolutely zero previous experience, so I decided to join a yoga studio that had a special introductory offer for new people. The plan was to start with yoga for beginners, but this class ended with us doing shoulder stands on day 1. I did not go back to that studio and researched other studios in the area, that's how I found Yoga on Centre. I am primarily drawn to the studio's mission statement and its focus on a more holistic approach to yoga that incorporates breathing techniques and addressing each student's individual needs and abilities. I strongly recommend this studio and its yoga teachers for those of us who've experienced chronic physical pain.

I am in the therapy class and have been for approximately 3 years. I recommend anyone with a serious condition have a private session with Sara Azarius, the owner. She will be able to set you up with a program to use during regular therapy class. She and her associates can monitor your progress and also come up with other exercizes or stretches as you progress. If you feel that there is nothing anyone can help you with consider my condition. I had a spinal cord injury 4 years ago which took me several months to be able to walk again although not with normal balance control. I have many other problems but without the help of Yoga and their optimistic view I don't know where I would be. I know that Sara and her staff really really care. God bless them.

Yoga on Centre is THE premier yoga studio in Pittsburgh. There are many forms of yoga but Iyengar yoga is by far the most beneficial one that I have studied. Teachers are rigorously trained and knowledgeable and held to a high standard. The focus on alignment is critical to getting the maximum benefits from the practice.

When people ask me where I take yoga, I rave about Yoga On Centre! I explain that you are so much more than the typical yoga class, and that learning Iyengar yoga will ensure proper alignment and allow them to practice safely and gain greater benefit from yoga. I recommend your classes, and your private sessions for anyone with injuries or special concerns. I explain how I first came to Sara for a private session due to an injury, and through the years have been amazed at what physical issues can be addressed and healed through yoga. I don't have the chance to attend many of the workshops but I wish I did! I've been a regular student in Diane's Tuesday or Thursday class for years (and during phases, like now, when I can't get there I hear her voice guiding me as I practice at home). I am so grateful for the studio and all you teachers. Thank you! Yoga in general, and YOC in particular, have been a huge, life-altering blessing in my life.

This is the place to go if your focuses are postures, alignment, and step-by-step improvement. The instructors are very knowledgable, accessible and friendly. I've being practicing yoga for 6 years but every time I go to class, I learn something new. I strongly recommend this place for yogis who takes yoga as a practice, rather than workouts.

I was in Pittsburgh for a month in the fall of 2012 and found your yoga studio online. I was very happy to find an Iyengar studio; upon my first class an instructor advised me about the unlimited pass for one month, after careful consideration I decided to purchase it and was delighted. The instructors were excellent and I savored every moment I came to practice and learn throughout that month. Thank you for that wonderful experience and memory! If you're a beginner, the teachers at Yoga on Centre will get your yoga practice off to a great start with their focus on your alignment and your understanding of the relationship between your body, your mind and the yoga postures.

If you are more established in your practice and, like me, have picked up some bad habits from other teachers or you have some deep blockages and misunderstandings that are impeding your progress but you can't seem to get past, the teachers can help you identify these issues and unlock them.

I had a consistent practice for about 5 years before going to Yoga on Centre and considered myself a serious student, but after 2 years I have come face to face with very deep issues where previously I had only empty space. My awareness and ability have grown through the unique insight and instruction compassionately shared by each teacher at Yoga on Centre. Highly recommended!

Aside from being the only Iyengar studio in the Burgh they are completely committed to bringing yoga to anyone willing to try. No one is too stiff, too out of shape or too young/old to start yoga. All you need is the desire and the willingness to face the challenges of yoga one step at a time.

Yoga on Center offers regular classes, specialty course work and a variety of workshops and visiting instructors.
