My daughter is 8 years old and took gymnastics here for 5 years and it was great in the beginning, but a disheartening letdown toward the end. The communication is horrible and nonexistent and their Zoom set-up never works. During this past year, we kept getting emails stating that my daughter had missed class, yet she was always there and always on time! I tried letting them know via email and at the desk about this issue but never got a reply. I became convinced that her coach didn't even know her name for accurate attendance! I started asking if I could discuss with her coach when she might be evaluated to move up to the next level or if there was another class that we should enroll in and the only reply I received was an email telling me the coach would be in touch. She never was. The communication was so bad during the annual showcase that the flyers didn't even include her group, but everyone there was cold and rude when I tried to ask when we were supposed to be there. Even after I emailed to let them know we would not be returning, I got no reply AFTER 5 YEARS of going here and paying for gymnastics lessons!

When we enrolled in February, my husband and I were genuinely excited to introduce our daughter to gymnastics and believed Jewart’s would be a supportive, welcoming environment. Unfortunately, from day one, that has not been the case.
On our first visit, we were met with indifference at the front desk. The woman there did not greet us, introduce herself, or ask our names—just vaguely told us to “go upstairs.” Once there, I relied entirely on what I had read online to figure out what group we were in. When “Little Dippers” were called, my daughter—understandably nervous on her first day—began to cry. Instead of offering reassurance, guidance, or even her name, the teacher silently took my daughter from my arms and walked her into the room. I sat in the waiting area, anxious and unable to see her. The TV monitor was broken, and the viewing window was covered by a curtain—completely opposite from what we were told when we signed up.
I returned to the front desk to voice my concerns, only to be met with a dismissive, “they usually cry on their first day. I’m sure she’s fine.” I tried to explain that while I understand children may cry initially (I work with children professionally), it is entirely unacceptable to have no introduction or communication with the person I’m entrusting my child to. Eventually, she went to check on my daughter, but the lack of empathy and professionalism left a lasting impression. To this day, I have never been introduced to a single one of her instructors.
The final straw was when We showed up for class to find the facility dark. I went to the same front desk employee and asked what was going on. Her response, laced with attitude, was, “There are no more classes on Saturday. You got MULTIPLE emails.” I was surprised, as I had received nothing. After checking, she backtracked, saying, “Oh yeah, looks like you aren’t signed up for email blasts. Sorry.” When I tried to ask a follow-up question, she cut me off mid-sentence to say she needed to go take tickets for a performance—and repeated this again, talking over me while I was still speaking.
These repeated instances of rudeness, poor communication, and a complete lack of basic customer service have made it clear that Jewart’s was not the right place for our family. I’m beyond disappointed by how unwelcoming and unprofessional this experience has been. As someone who works in a similar capacity to your front desk staff, I fully understand the demands of the job—but that doesn’t excuse the lack of courtesy or empathy we’ve encountered repeatedly.

My daughter did gymnastics here for 2 years in the Little Dipper program. It wasn’t bad when we first started but went down hill. I was disappointed in the lack of instruction towards the end. We took the summer off and when I considered signing her back up I reached out to see if there were other options. The only option they gave me was the Big Dipper program which is just the continuation of the prior program. I have friends with kids in the Big Dipper program who had similar complaints. I ultimately decided what they were offering us wasn’t worth our time or money anymore.

My daughter has been coming to Jewart's for a year and a half and has had an amazing experience. Prior to coming here, we had taken classes at a few other gyms and none were providing the experience that my daughter wanted - to advance her skills and allow her to compete.
She has made amazing progress since starting at Jewart's and had a very successful first competition season. She loves all of her coaches and looks forward to coming to practice. On top of that, I can see her building important life skills: confidence, resilience, and grit. We couldn't be happier and look forward to being a part of the Pittsburgh Northstars for years to come!

My daughter absolutely loves Jewarts. She appreciates the kindness and welcoming nature of the staff. She is even trying new things under the encouragement of Ms. V. She loves the camps and classes.

Jewarts is my daughter’s second home. Every single coach truly cares about my daughter…not just as a gymnast but as a person too. Coaches are never too busy to talk to her individually, and she likes that they set their standards high so she will be successful. She looks forward to going to gymnastics everyday. I wouldn’t want her anywhere else. So proud my daughter is a Pittsburgh Northstar.

As a gymnast on the team my experience at this organization has been amazing! I came to Jewert’s in march of 2023 and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming. Jewart’s is family owned and operated and if you are looking for a gym for your child this is the place to go. The facility is great and the coaching staff is well trained, kind and supportive. Highly recommend!

For the Littles (around age 2): Jewarts isn’t quite offering developmental activities for this age group, which is disappointing given that it’s advertised as such. The teacher for this age group also doesn’t seem super engaged in interacting with the kids or with helping them. We much prefer Gymkhana in Wexford. The room for this age is shared, so there’s often other kids running through class, and it’s a tight space as it is.

The “teacher” was extremely rude not only to my daughter, but to me as well. I registered my daughter for two classes/week. And couldn’t be more disappointed to waste money like this.
This horrible person who “teaches” there YELLED at me in front of other parents because my daughter ran. Totally unstable, aggressive and arrogant person who shouldn’t be handling kids. She said children are not allowed to run. Asked if I see other kids running there! And YEAH! I see kids running all the time! My daughter is not very good at physical activities hence we put her here, so the teacher won’t accept and treat her well. Because she is not a kid they can show and attach their name to.
So definitely not a kid friendly place at all. If your kid is not professional like, they will make it personal and will even treat you bad in front of other people.
Do not ruin your kids self steem with this cash driven place.
My kid does piano lessons, swimming lessons, did dance lessons, goes to school… and never in my life I saw a teacher approach a parent like this! Shouting! I am so well treated everywhere we set foot in. And now I have this totally traumatic experience that I’ll be sure to share with every single person I meet.

wow, they were extremely rude. it was my first time bringing my child so i was sitting on a bench watching from afar: another mother was standing behind me with her toddler. they came over and rudely spoke to me and told me if i wanted to watch i could take myself upstairs. i said i didn’t even know that was a thing as i have never even been here before and proceeded to get up while she continued to argue with me that today is not a day that parents could watch so i could go upstairs. i said again i had no idea i didn’t even know that was a thing as i have never been here before! i will not take my opinion of one person being rude on the entire establishment but how about welcome new faces not attack a mother for sitting by herself at 8 in the morning on a saturday not knowing that was against the rules!
i guess it’s okay to stand around and watch your kids if they know you but if they don’t you get sent upstairs. we’ll noted.

Signed my six-year-old son up for beginner gymnastics in the fall of 2021. He only lasted a month. The instructor’s only words to me were “Wow, he cries a lot, doesn’t he?” after a particularly frustrating class where he couldn’t keep up. Mind you, this was a class that was advertised for complete beginners.
Would not recommend unless your child is very serious about gymnastics or has some prior experience.

Very poor customer service and unprofessional staff on all levels. Dealt with toddler instructors, an office manager, and the owners. All very rude, not welcoming and unprofessional. Would not recommend signing on for the toddler classes. Not at all child friendly. May be ok for older kids serious about gymnastics but there are other places in the area much more amenable for toddler gymnastics. Very disappointing experience.

This review is for J & M Fitness, inside Jewart's gymnastics every weekday. Don Debar is a fantastic trainer. The people who attend range in fitness levels and Don makes every day different and fun. He is enthusiastic and encouraging and he made me want to work out every morning at 5:15am, which is really saying something!

Our daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her gymnastics experience here (has been to 3 gyms) and continually progresses in her skills and confidence. Ben has gone above and beyond for our family by working to accommodate our needs. Effective communication has always been demonstrated through regular updates of participant and business information and always responding to any questions.
