This is the only place that I could see my son earning his black belt someday. Sensei Sheffield is such an amazing instructor and so great with kids. He has a gift of teaching kids to not only be good at karate but also in life. He sets kids up for success and at the same time, he teaches them to be disciplined and respectful towards each other. Also, the people here are friendly, and welcoming, and treat each other like a family.

My son has been going to Kazoku Isan Dojo since its opening and we truly love it here! Sensei Sheffield is such an amazing instructor and teacher for both the children and the adults. His knowledge in self-defense techniques and kata, as well as his deep respect for the culture and history, is extensive and impressive. His passion, discipline, and respectful nature shines through in the way he lives and passes through to all of his students. His fellow black belts that work with and under him are all very approachable, kind, and humble. When you walk in to the dojo you are always welcomed warmly by all staff and when you join, there is a true sense of stepping into a family!

One of the aspects I appreciate as a parent is the extensive camera coverage throughout the space. You can always keep an eye on your child from the spectators lounge, ensuring their safety at all times.

What sets Kazoku Isan Dojo apart is their commitment to earning belts through formal testing. They don't just hand them out for any reason. If you're not at the level the belt demands, you won't promote. This ensures that students truly earn their ranks.

There are no hidden pricing tricks here. You pay a monthly fee for classes throughout the month, and they are transparent about the expected costs for karate gi, weapons, and sparing pads.

Sensei Michael Sheffield has been an incredible blessing to our family. His dedication and passion for teaching martial arts shine through in every class. My two children, my husband, and I all take classes at this dojo and it's been a wonderful journey. Sensei Sheffield is a bright beam of sunshine and really knows how to speak to and teach children AND adults. I truly marvel at how he can change his tone and teaching structure based on who he's teaching. Sam is also a huge symbol of hospitality, and always has an answer or gets one for you. This dojo taught us a new sense of respect, discipline, and inner/outer strength. But it's not just the karate lessons... we truly feel like we have a second family.
