As copious other reviews have stated, this gym has a major cleanliness problem. For $50 a month the least I could ask for is machines that have been recently cleaned, don’t have gum on the bottom of them, working hand sanitizer stations, and more wipes for cleaning equipment. Besides that, it’s spacious, has good equipment and is not completely un affordable.

Worst one to visit. I unfortunately go here like once a month (Andorra is my location). This one it soooo dirty on the floor.

People don't put away their weights (way higher issue here than any other). The free weights are constantly and consistently out of order. Locker room is frequently dirty too, including water fountains, floors, sinks, sauna, bathrooms... Literally a disgusting location. How can people rate it 4 stars? Have they never been to gyms where staff cleans and puts things away? This staff doesn't, and it's been this way for at least the 4 years I've come here. Disgrace of a gym

I was really frustrated with an experience I had the other day. In my membership, 7-day free guest passes are included. In the past, up until the other day when I bring a guest, its no issue. They scan the guests ID and QR code, and we are all set. My experience was not the same this time, it was rather hostile. The person we spoke to insisted that my guests card information needed to be put down OR he had to pay $20 for a day pass before he would be able to come in with me. When I asked why that was the case, he was very hostile, interrupted me asking for my friends card information, and then told me that it seemed like we were trying to use the gym for free. I have been a long time member at LA fitness, but this experience has really made me re-consider my membership. it was extremely disrespectful to be treated that way and felt coerced into paying.

These guys really know how to burn a bridge. I asked for my account to not be charged after the trial because I needed more time to think it over. They charged me anyway. When I called to talk with Chris, I was given the run around for weeks. When I finally did speak to him he promised to resolve it (as he had promised before and not followed through) so I asked him if he could email me the steps he was going to take so I could have it in writing. He hung up on me. I have never been disrespected like this. I was seriously considering making this my fitness home but now I just want to be done with this nightmare. Stay away from this place.

Also, the locker rooms are covered in black mold and the pool is too warm and has way too much chlorine to the point it made my face sting.

I chose this location because it was close to my home. I have few complaints, except that LA Fitness has continued to charge me $120/mo for personal training after I have repeatedly said I no longer want the service. Add to that, the fact that the regional manager has failed to respond to my emails. I want my money back.

This gym is DIRTY. It is always unkempt. Weights - scavenger hunt. Good luck finding them. Machine dusty. Dirty. Trash everywhere. People don’t clean up behind themselves and the gym doesn’t clean enough. They close every night - dirty. Open in morning? Dirty. The one cleaning woman they have is amazing but she can’t clean behind all of these grown people. The gym doesn’t not invest in machines, equipment or CLEANING.

I just canceled my membership after 7 years. I had a balance due. For context my bill was due the 2nd and today is the 13th. I have had Balances over the years and it has never been an issue. Proof is my 7 year plus membership. This lady held at the front and reprimanded me on how LA fitness can’t have this and it’s like the movies “ you can’t go without a ticket” I put up with a bunch at this location. The staff is friendly and helpful at this location. I had a bad experience with the manager on Cathedral road so I came here and they were very welcoming.
However the upkeep of the facility is not met. The machines are dirty and old. I signed up for this gym so I could utilize the pool and sauna and got ring worm twice!
I brought a guest with me one time and we saw a baby cockroach in the women’s locker room.

Positives: because of its amenities and classes it allows you to meet other members and has a nice community feel to it.
At this location I always felt safe and looked after, but it’s the cleanliness the led me to cancel.

1. The gym is filthy.
The floor is black—not by design, but from dirt and grease. Most equipment is rusty, and many machine handles are broken or unusable and disgusting. It’s clear they don’t clean or maintain anything properly.

2. The staff are dishonest and rude.
The front desk and managers lied to me to get me to open a new membership, which cost over $150. When I realized I’d been misled and tried to cancel, they were extremely rude and even threatened to remove all promotions from my account, saying things like “you’ll never get anything from me again.” I still canceled—but of course, my $150 is gone. So I recommend call the signature club regrading your membership because they will be honest.

3. The environment is uncomfortable and unsafe.
I’ve been stared at multiple times and interrupted mid-workout with comments that made me feel uncomfortable. Once, I was even followed outside by a man from the gym. Thankfully, I stayed near the entrance until he left.

Bottom line: DO NOT go to this gym.
It’s dirty, dishonest, and makes you feel unsafe. Save your money and avoid it at all costs.

Buy somewhere: 1. a fixed urethane barbell weighing 100 and 110 pounds, because the maximum weight of 90 pounds is not serious, this is not a kindergarten. 2. and buy a glute drive machine for sure. This gym is honestly just a mess. I knew it’d be a fairly low bar with LA fitness, but it doesn’t even feel worth the city ave traffic.
Having been to other gyms in the city, this is such a downgrade. There is not a lot of respect for equipment and others - dumbbells are abandoned across the gym, weight is left fully loaded on bars, and equipment is constantly breaking. Half of the cable machines have broken carabiners for well over a year and we have about 5 clips to share across the gym - who knows where the hell they are.
The staff is more or less friendly so I give a bump for that, but there’s never sanitization wipes and equipment takes forever to repair.

I was just asking over the phone the price details for adding my child to my membership and her attitude was like I should not ask her those stupid questions like I was an idiot. Went to this gym for a while because it was near the office I was going to for work. Was great for the convenience, was always a crowd before work hours (5-7am) which I enjoyed. Lots of people getting after it. The equipment wasn’t the most updated but that doesn’t bother me; everything you need to get a good workout in. Cleanliness could have been better - dumbbells were rarely organized and scattered across the gym. Showering and getting ready for work in the locker rooms was okay but not for the weak. Showers / shower curtains commonly dirty and locker room smell was fair at best. I blame this on being understaffed, the workers seemed to do their best but could never keep up. Also, if you ever need to cancel just go online to do it. It would be nice if the workers were transparent about this instead of trying to make it as inconvenient as possible to cancel. I just canceled online after being told I had to print out the forms they emailed me and mail to HQ in California.

TLDR - Solid gym, I liked the atmosphere, lots of people working out hard. Cleanliness lacked due to undersized staff. Cancel online if you need to cancel.

This is my first time at this location i move around for work and go to different locations. The equipment floor its self was good, but when i went to the back to clean up and get a shower it was horrible, There was literally black mold in the shower, trash on the floors in the shower and out. The water barely came out it was like a slow leak. This is completely unacceptable whether your paying $20 for a Planet fitness or $60 for LA fitness. This could get make someone very ill. Do better. These locations need to be inspected by hire ups. People pay a lot of money to go here it is not ok.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, but I can't overlook the fact that this is one of the messier LA Fitness gyms I've been to. The dumbbell section is disorganized everyday, the men's locker room has a strong odor, and members do not re-rack their weights. I go to this LA Fitness because of the proximity, but it never seems to improve on these points. The one in KOP, PA is much more organized.

I've been going to this LA Fitness location for a while and have mixed feelings. On the positive side, the employees are friendly and helpful, and they offer nice amenities like a pool, sauna, and jacuzzi. However, there are no tennis courts or basketball court at this location, which was a bit disappointing. My biggest concern is the cleanliness—no matter what time I go, the gym, especially the cardio machines and treadmills, always feels dusty and not well-maintained. I recently joined LA Fitness at this location and am impressed with the management team. Chris, Wazir, and Grayce made me feel welcome and showed genuine interest in how they can address questions or concerns. I worked with Daniel who provided helpful guidance to ensure my form is solid. I see that the team is actively working to remedy some of the constructive feedback in previous reviews, including ensuring the gym is clean and that customers make an effort to get the dumbbells racked where they belong. I have found all the equipment I need for my workout and I appreciate the large space and friendly customers.

The equipment is nice, too many of the members are horrible (enough to be noticeable). Trash everywhere, showers disgusting; and there are ample trash receptacles. Yes, some of the cleaning staff just looks around, but there are some who really clean; but that only does so much against members who act as if they have personal maids.

If you do join, don't be that member that leaves paper towels, gum (yes, chewed gum), wrappers, and bottles on/ under machines, in the sauna, in the showers, in the lockers....don't be that person!

Also, if you can't re-rack it properly, it's too heavy for you to lift!

This location is a joke. No paper towels, no wet wipes, dumbbells scattered everywhere. Theres sometimes a homeless guy cleaning himself and sleeping in the mens room. Disgusting and the staff clearly doesnt care. Will no longer be coming to this location until they turn things around.

I had really liked the idea of having a place where I could swim, train, and hit the sauna. Unfortunately, this isn't that place. I had been going here for about 8 months now after a severe leg injury put me in need of a more accessible gym.

(1) Many machines are falling apart, chipped paint and rust, snapped cables, and are covered in dirt and grime. Dumbbells and weights are never re-racked or removed from unused machines.

(2) Lack of cleanliness spans across all areas, including the mats for stretching. I wiped down a mat about 3 times, and it still showed an extreme amount of dirt.

(3) There have been issues with the gym not opening on time, leaving people outside waiting, at times for over an hour!

(4) They don't seem to be taking negative feedback seriously. I have seen responses to some of the positive reviews, but rarely the negative ones.

(5) Lastly, I set aside the time to email a formal complaint. They sent me back a canned email addressed to someone else! They didn't even take the time to make sure they were addressing the correct member.

I'm done with this gym. I've gone ahead and canceled my membership to go elsewhere. There are plenty of options - AFC if you are willing to pay more; Philly Fitness (only $10 has free weights); Planet Fitness has been upgrading machines. Pick whatever else works - literally do anything besides waste your time here.

Nothing to wipe down machines with today. I asked the manager for wipes or paper towels to wipe down the machines. The manager first brushed me off. Then he tried to have me search for a staff member to get some. Imagine a manager sending you to get the gym supplies as if you work there. Anyway, he eventually goes to get something and comes back with a litle bit of paper towels- not nearly enough for me to wipe down all the machines for my full workout and certainly not enough for other people to use. The manager had a horrible attitude. I havent seen him there before in all my 20 or so years as a member. I left him while he was standing there mouthing off.

I absolutely loved my 2-year experience at this gym. I only attend group fitness classes, and this branch offers so many options and the group fitness culture was fantastic. I've been to many group fitness classes over the years, and the Bala LA Fitness has my favorite instructors I've ever had. I've since moved away from the city, and this gym is one of the things I miss the most!

This place is just so disappointing. I only come here because there’s literally no other gym in the area with the array of equipment, classes, pool, and sauna. I came into the women’s bathroom today and two sinks (pictured) were clogged with I don’t even know what. You absolutely need to bring your own wipes. They only have a few stations that often run out of wipes and it’s clear things aren’t being cleaned as they should. I also wipe down the barbells before using them and it turns the wipes brown (also pictured), which is disgusting. There’s also just really poor gym etiquette here without staff to compensate for it. I often have to remove hundreds of lbs of weight off of machines before use. This is really frustrating and makes my workouts take way longer and can cause me to strain myself inadvertently. They need to hire folks to deep clean and re-rack weights throughout the day. I’ve come into the sauna previously and found someone using it to dry their street clothes. A mess. As folks have said, there’s lot of potential. I’ve been to LA Fitness in other places and this location is just a drag on the brand truly.

This club recently started posting their friendliness and cleanliness scores. Cleanliness sits at 65% and friendliness is at 85% which I think is pretty generous. Management needs to teach their front desk staff that they should be greeting club members. It’s very odd that when I walk in, staff look right at me and don’t even say hello. Furthermore, the overall cleanliness of the place could use some work but I do see them attempting to make improvements because I have noticed staff walking around sweeping and picking up wipes that club members leave behind on the machines.

We were looking at potentially switching from the Drexel U student gym in the New Year. Other gyms in town were all a little cramped and had too few machines. We used to like LA Fitness when we lived in Austin, so why not drive out to the 'burbs and try this one?

So we signed up on their website for a 7-day guest pass, thinking we'd try it on a weekday at rush hour and a weekend and see if it was hard to get there from West Philly. We roll up. The manager who "activates" guest passes isn't there, whatever that means. Another manager shows up instead, with a cock-and-bull story about how actually, what we must have instead is... a 3-day guest pass issued to us by a "VIP member"? What? No, I don't know any of those. We show him the emails that say "7-day guest pass". He pulls it up in the system and it says "not activated". Well, duh, dude. After two or three more attempts to show him the email, the website we signed up with, whatever gets us in to try the gym, we give up trying to understand the metaphysical explanations he's giving us for why our passes aren't real, and bounce. Not having it.

Whatever. LA Fitness is only kind of good at the best of times, and it certainly isn't worth THIS kind of hassle.

Some of the instructors are great - reliable, challenging, etc. Some are not. No shows are so annoying. I pay little, so the fee is worth the few classes I do like. The equipment is ragged. Every time they do a refurb, you come back and wonder what they actually touched? 🤔 A lot of the equipment is super noisy and just old.

Update : showed up for another no-show instructor today. Spend your money somewhere else if you like group fitness classes.

Another update: cancelled my membership. Class schedule is still super limited as of Aug '22 and half the floor machines are broken. Not giving them another dime.

Most machines don’t have numbers on them due to being so old. It’s hard to gauge the weight on them which can be dangerous and a safety issue.
The locker room (men’s) always is soo dirty and smells, looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. Never seen anyone maintaining the slimy wet floor thru the locker room due to water getting tracked in from pool / sauna / hot tub.

The most unhygienic gym I’ve seen in a while. The machines haven’t been cleaned in what seems like years. So many machines that are broken. The men’s locker room is atrocious. They never have any soap in the soap dispenser. LA fitness net worth is 2.1 billion dollars and I can assure you they don’t care about their members and they’re not investing in their gyms. For what you pay to go to LA fitness this is a slap in the face. Thank God I have multiple gym memberships so I’m not stuck just going to LA. This location is also very small. I've been going to various LA Fitness Clubs across the country for over a decade. This by far is the FILTHIEST gym I've ever been to. Gym is never cleaned the night before (I would know this because I get there right when the gym opens).

Trash everywhere, machines broken for months (there's at least 8-10 treadmills needing service at one time). Filthy stalls and urinals. I wouldn't be surprised if you happened to get sick from this location because the showers look absolutely horrendous. I would NEVER feel comfortable to take one here. Sauna room? Disgusting

They steal your money! I started my membership in 2023 fall and went there only for one month. The sales or office guy in person promised me that I did not have to go there to cancel membership. I canceled it because it was so crowded there was NO way to trail. I went there in person and guy tells me again that they sent the papers and would cancel my membership. There is no way to call them or cancel online. Past 6 months they have been charging me with membership fees until finally I blocked them from my card. Never go there if you don't want such trouble. Plus this gym is so crowded it's impossible to train.

I came in to inquire about a membership. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes while a guy was off to the side talking to who I thought was a client. One of the members got off her machine to let the guy know that I was at the counter. They both looked at me and that's when I saw who I thought was a client was an employee. They turned back around and continued their conversation. I'm taking my business to Plant Fitness.

Very outdated machines! It is clean and in a great location but I noticed a lot of the treadmills aren’t working. I got on one of them and almost fell, the belt was shaking side to side, extremely dangerous. With the gym being in such a nice area they should definitely look into updated their equipment.

It is nice, but in a way that they spent a ton of money on equipment and amenities. But like 20 years ago. There’s a good variety of equipment- they really got something for everybody, but you can expect to see very worn handles and +5’s that don’t work etc… if that makes sense

So it’s a huge gym that actually can get quite busy at times, but also offers a solid workout with little waiting on most stuff other times. The mens locker room is pretty nice with a steam box and cleanliness, so the women’s is prob the same or better 👍

Ps, if ur trying to sneak in, I have done it but it’s kind of hard here. You can try to wait out the staff and just walk in when they step out, but often you will be directed to a membership sales guy and he will always try and sell you on the full membership. Sometimes you can use somebody else’s membership but it goes up or down with certain staff and whether they care about the photo yk

Love LA fitness, however they need to get better with their cleaning, or lack thereof, of shower area. The ladies room in particular has dirty showers (hair, toilet paper, tissues, and black mold have appeared in showers). This has been brought to the managers (on duty) attention. Clean up of the ladies room doesn't appear to be a priority.

I'm writing a detailed review because I couldn't find most of this information online.

Overall impression - Dirty. That's my main complaint about this gym. It seems like the machines have not been cleaned for years! There's dirty, dust, spills, and sweat marks everywhere. Not even the water fountains are clean, they are full of dirt and calcium deposits.

Parking - plenty of free parking.

Gym - many strength training machines and free weights available. There's a TRX station as well. There are disinfecting wipes available, but nobody uses them. Staff doesn't seem to enforce that nor clean the machines on a regular basis. There's a tire turning station as well. Lots of cardio machines, mostly quite dirty.

Restrooms - the lockers are old and scuffed. Several were dirty inside. You should bring your own lock, as there is no keypad built into the lockers in the changing room. There are blow-dryers available, but the wall next to them was full of white and black/blown stains. There are small lockers with a keypad next to the welcome desk for your valuables.

Showers - the water pressure and temperature is good. There are 6 shower stalls and shower gel available. There are no towels available. As a result, some guests dry themselves with paper towels and leave them on the floor of the shower area!

Swimming pool and hot tub - up to 6 people can swim at a time, so you may need to wait in peak hours. The pool water temperature is very good for swimming, not cold if you are moving. The hot tub is really nice and warm! I really appreciate having a place to relax after a workout.

Sauna - saunas are inside the changing rooms.

Kids club - make sure you check the opening hours before coming. Closed on Sundays.

I don’t know how this place doesn’t have 1 star across the board. The equipments are constantly out of service. They literally are missing half of their dumbbells. When you ask the employees, they just claim maybe people or using them or left them random places.

Absolutely the worst customer service. Helping an older couple figure out membership so they can get fit. After multilpe phone calls, I was told for 2 months straight that operations manager would call me and that they would take care of it and refund the mistake. Called once again and a woman with attitude answered the phone. Explained that I was working with someone and was expecting a call back from the manager. She goes he "cant help you so what do you want." I dont know if just noone showed up to work because I had to ask who was I speaking to and she said she was operations manager. In the end operations manager Kaleah was completely unhelpful, condesending, and refused to listen or be helpful. Rather than reach out to the person I origionally work with she basically didnt believe me and that she was never notified of my issue. The accounts were completely screwed up. Complete crooks that targeted an older person that didn't understand.

Really solid LA Fitness. Has all the equipment and amenities you could possibly need. The training area is also great, as it has rubber weights to make deadlifts and power cleans super convenient, not to mention available when a rack is being used. My only real complaint is the lack of gym etiquette with the weights. You find 10, 25 and 45 pound weights all in the same rack all over the gym. Not to mention you’ll very often find benches and squat racks with 2-4 plates still on them yet not being used. Gym goers: RERACK YOUR WEIGHTS!!! If you use something, clean it up, take pride in your local gym, it’s not that hard. The pure selfish nature is baffling, be better. That being said, someone should be hired to clean up the weights and put them in their proper spots after the gym closes.

We have several of our clients that love this gym and use it on their off days when they’re not working with our personal training staff. We do not have a gym open for members it’s only for when they are working with our trainers so they use this gym to supplement. it has everything you need in a gym for an inexpensive price. This place is disgusting. The bathroom isn’t anywhere fit for human beings to use. The sauna is a pit of for pigs. There is this constant smell of mold, the machines are never in good order especially the treadmills where at any given time 50% of them are broken. If you believe this is untrue visit on any day and count the machines that are fit for use.

Fine club for cleanliness but very crowded. Disappointment came from kids club facility when there are hardly any clubs in the SE PA area that even offer that amenity. I called in advance to make sure it was open and was told yes. When i get there, no attendant to be found and im told the usual person didn’t show up and they’re looking for a replacement. Then im told they’re texting the person to come back. Then im told the manager is looking for a replacement. Finally im told that i don’t have the Kids Club membership on my account but they’re waiving the fee and giving me a ‘free pass.’ For what?? 90 minutes and no person to watch the kids so i can’t actually use the gym. I wouldn’t have wasted my time if they had been truthful when I called. Terrible management.

For the past two years, I've frequented this LA Fitness gym, but consistently finding the Dumbbells in disarray has been frustrating. It's not solely the fault of the management; many patrons fail to re-rack them properly. Despite efforts by both staff and myself to maintain order, Dumbbells are often left strewn across the floor. Management needs to implement stricter measures to ensure greater accountability among gym-goers.

Wanted to love it here because I really liked the staff. My third time was today and it’s just not clean. Three different stations were out of wipes for equipment. I told the front desk before my jog and 15 minutes later no one had addressed it. Had to look for another employee. Last time I was swimming laps and planned to go to the hot tub but didn’t after watching 3 different sweaty dudes get in without rinsing (AirPods still in and sweat glistens, you can tell it’s not a shower). Seems like a good place to get MRSA.

(6pm on a Thursday.)What actually is this? Club 923 fitness? More like city blue fitness. I don’t even know where to start. I walked in and immediately hear ruckus blasting. It felt like there was 1,000 people in there. Just chatting and talking it up while hogging the machines. Not to work out, but to flex their booty pants and to show off for the bros. I’m not sure how one is supposed to get in and out of this place. It felt like a new form of speed dating mashed with real life social media. Honestly? If you like this gym, please stay here and don’t pollute the surroundings areas. Thanks!

Definitely like city Ave LA compared to other locations I’ve visited. Was clean and not too crowded when i went for the first time (on a Sunday mid-morning). This location gets a bad rap and for years i was always afraid to try them out. I regret listening to others lol l should’ve started coming here a long time ago! Sauna is great after a good workout; can’t wait to try the pool & jacuzzi out

The biggest problem is the equipment (Treadmills, exercise bikes, ellipticals) which are old and cannot be fixed fast enough. Other equipment is often rusty and has missing parts. One manager is nasty and aggressive. The bathrooms are at times filthy.
Yet, if you disregard these problems, it has a convenient location, convenient hours. If you come early in the day, there would always be proper equipment to work with.

Paid $20 for a drop in and there are no towels on site whatsoever -
So unsanitary! Temperature is cranked up I’m literally drenched in sweat. This is a gym, air conditioning should be on not the heat! I asked for a towel and the fact that they don’t offer them has me confused beyond belief. Patrons are expected to use the equipment without a towel. Nasty and savage!

Always busy, no matter what time of the day you go. I don’t think there’s enough free bars for squatting - this equipment is always in use. Some attendees like to superset during these busy times - I guess it’s the norm because people come up to you asking how long you’ll be using the equipment.
