I’ve been a member since this gym opened about 8 years ago. It was easily a 5 star gym. Now it struggles to be a 1 star gym.

Photo 1: 5 of 7 stair masters are “scheduled for service.” It was 4 of 7 for months.
Photo 2: used tooth pick that’s been sitting there for at least 2 weeks now.
Photo 3-4: dust. It’s all over machines and the weight stack rods are caked with dust/dirt/grime.
Photo 5-6: ripped machines and missing caps.

Equipment is breaking down.
Parts are rusted.
Seems to be a different clip on each functional trainer.

The only reason I still go here is because I joined when it opened for $19.99/month.

I just wish management took pride in this gym and get it back to what it should be. And there have been a lot of managers.

I had a immaculate experience @ this Gym! Great equipment! Amazing people! So much REAL GYM MOTIVATION in here! The ENERGY is amazing! I used to love it here. The people are pleasant but the machines are just flat out finished. I honestly think the machines have been out of order so much bc they’re old. Gym has been open 8 years and it’s the same machines as when they opened. Do the right thing and upgrade the equipment please. Even if you have to close for a few days to do it. I’ve been a member of this gym for years now, and I couldn't be more impressed! The facility has a huge variety of equipment and is always so clean, making it a pleasure to work out here. The classes are fantastic, aqua fit being my favorite. What really sets this gym apart, though, is the staff. The morning crew is especially amazing, always welcoming, and ready to help with a smile. LA Fitness Is a Total Scam – Avoid at All Costs!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Over a year ago, I signed up for an LA Fitness membership and personal training under the impression that I could cancel anytime. What they conveniently failed to mention was that the personal training contract was locked in for a full year at $200 a month—no way out.

Fine. I waited out the year, canceled the trainer, and thought I was done. But guess what? They kept charging me $200 a month anyway! And when I tried to resolve it? No customer service to call, no easy way to cancel—they force you to physically go into a location just to stop payments.

So, I went in person to cancel. The employee gave me a phone number for a manager who could supposedly handle it. Turns out, the number was disconnected. So I went back—again—only to be told the manager wasn’t there and I’d have to go to a different location.

I drove 20 minutes to another location, asked for the manager, and was then told only the personal training manager could cancel it. That manager no longer even works there. The employee had no idea what to do, and I was left completely stuck—still being charged $200 a month for a service I don’t use and can’t seem to cancel.

At this point, LA Fitness is literally just stealing my money, and I have no idea what to do next. I think I’m going to contact a lawyer. DO NOT sign up for anything at this gym unless you want to be scammed.

I like their equipment and place, but I honestly do not like the practice of talking you into a personal trainer contract that you can’t stop at anytime till it’s up, it’s not a good business practice, it’s like going through hoops to even try to talk to anyone to end my personal training sessions and contract for it, KWON is great for sure, but I have found another gym that is light years ahead, the place I go to has become my gym home, I’d like to keep my membership but want to drop the training as it’s hook line and sinker, nowhere do they tell you it’s a longterm contract, one competitor gives free personal training to members, the place I go to has contract free stop at anytime personal training at a much much better price, I’m sorry I couldn’t give a better review but it’s the truth, such bad business practice to do what’s being done company wise with the contract. I will be forced to pay out my co tract instead of them doing what’s right and cancel at no cost, seriously it’s not a good way to keep clients being locked into a you can’t back out of training unless you pay 50 percent of you remaining contract which is highway robbery. But other then this review the place is really clean and very well maintained. It’s a go to if I’m in a pinch time wise. I will or want my contract ended and it should be ended at no cost and not cost me losing my membership.

This place is a dump now I lowered my star level if it had zero I would select that, management is non-existent and I want a response to this they Sheist you and still bill you for training when your membership was canceled this place should just shut the doors refund all of its members and be done called today 2-13-2025 about being charged for training fees when I no longer train there and Kwan got fired just sealed it for this place. I want a full refund from months ago of when I stopped my training sessions and they can certainly see I only used 7 sessions in total in a year because of their inflexibility of training scheduling and not enough trainers on staff I’m so glad I joined Edge back in late July they are amazing full of trainers super nice staff and everyone is helpful and respectful so I expect them to management if any will be respectful and do the right thing and give me all the refunds I’m owed.

I love the fact that the location at Brookhaven is close to me, I don’t have to drive several miles to workout. Except for this location not having a martial art studio and equipment like punching bags, I love other workout equipments and the building space.

However, most people would agree with me that there is satisfaction in going to a gym with a planned workout regiment for that day.:
It is so demoralizing when you arrive at the gym and find 70% of the workout equipments has a schedule for service on them. The other 30% are occupied, you either have to wait or change your schedule
. This is not a one off thing, You will think LA Fitness would put customers satisfaction at the core of their business. I hope is that the management read this and make the necessary changes to this lapses.

Heaps of cardio machines have been out of order for well over a year. Gym continues to deteriorate as Chester folks flock in; one wonders if these folks are responsible for the rash of recent thefts. They are certainly more annoying, thoughtless, louder, and ruder than others. They will leave their stuff at a machine -- or smack dab in the middle of two machines -- while they use the bathroom or chit-chat with their homeboys. When they do finally leave a machine, they'll return to it in the middle of your set claiming they were "supersetting." They will interrupt you in the middle of a set to ask if you'll be done soon. One is reminded of the Wheel of Fortune puzzle Randy -- correctly -- solved.

I recently rejoined as a member and I have been very annoyed with the hours of operation. I will come after work and will be welcomed most of the time to a locked front door with someone at the front desk just staring at me. As a customer that pays $40 dollars a month (which is a lot) the gym should never be closed at 10 PM during the week let alone the 7 PM on weekends. The hours of this place is not convenient for the customer at all. There is also a lot of equipment that is either broken or needs fixing in there as well

It is a good gym! I have been going there since it opened. The quality has gone down over time. Equipment keeps getting stolen, and broken without getting fixed or replaced. Horrible customers. The management needs to be more strict, they don't take action against creepy men. Too many men harass and stalk women in the gym and nothing gets done, even some trainers are very unprofessional. The gym management needs to step up! Young girls end up leaving which is very unfortunate. The vibe has been ruined since it first opened.

I wish there was another Zumba class during the week on Wednesday around 545 like before. I love Kali Zumba class on Monday. Tracy aerobic classes on Tues and Thurs are awesome! Remark:

Personal trainers manager was very pushy on selling us an annual contract for $660/mo/ per person, which a fitness app can give the same level of training for 8/mo. After we refused, he gave us attitude and even was rude.
His evaluation was questionable! He pushed us to our limits (which is normal) and then told us that " We need to work on this and that..." Then,"When you sign the contract and train 3 times a week, you will see immediate results. "
After 2.5 minutes plank, 1 set of 50 situps, weighted russian twists, and other exercises, he told me, " You have a weak core. We need to work on your core since it's weak."😏
[No matter what you do, he will say you are weak and you need to sign up with him]

On many occasions, some of the personal trainers smelled like weed,or they are playing games on their phones while training people.

When the equipment breaks down, it takes weeks for it to be repaired. I've been going here consistently for 2 years and the staff don't know my name and it shows just how much they actually know their members. Furthermore, the regional director Kelly is extremely demeaning and has no concept of customer service especially when the members bring up an actual concern especially being a disabled veteran. Furthermore, Danielle who is supposed to be the head of member services is a liar who will not admit that she lied to corporate about the situation at the club. This place is very corrupt. They let anyone walk in, doesn’t matter if you have a guest pass, if you’re a member, hell they even let kids in under the age of 15. I never write reviews but I have to take the time out to sit down and tell about my personal experience with the Master Trainer, Ed. I’m a military vet and was a personal trainer for years myself and I truly understand how it all works. However, I decided to work with Ed to give me a push that I wasn’t giving myself. When I say that was the best workout I’ve ever had, I’m not kidding. He is so knowledgeable, trustworthy, and experienced in this field that I couldn’t imagine recommending anyone to another trainer. If you’re looking for ANY sort of help, he can do it for you. He has vast knowledge of the the body and understands it down to a scientific level. I’ve met many trainers and trained many clients myself and Ed is so highly recommended I can’t say it enough. Trust me when I say it. If you were ever considering a trainer, he is your man. While in there my friend pointed out the manager I needed to speak to. I think his name was Ames, or Amos something close to that. Later I saw him being extremely rude to a co-worker. Whom didn’t seem to do anything wrong from what I saw. And because of the way the manager handled the situation and for how rude he was to his co-worker I will never go back to any la fitness. This LA location is great! I have been to three other LA Fitness locations in comparison, and this one has a great atmosphere, great classes and great equipment. The staff is super friendly, especially the new AD, Ed. Awesome guy, took the time to chat with my boyfriend and I and gave us some useful lifting tips. Overall, this location is non-intimidating and a great gym to get back into working out. Would recommend checking it out if you're looking for a gym in the area.

Really nice clean gym. If we could get a heavy bag to box on somewhere in the gym that would be greatly appreciated. I have bad knee joints and can’t run for cardio so boxing is my go to.

Several cardio machines need fixed specially working monitors to watch TV while working out. I travel & multiple locations have this issue. LA Fitness-- you can afford it. I shouldn't have to go to 7 different machines to find a machine that works AND I can catch up on news while working out.

LAF Brookhaven is the by far the best gym that I’ve had a membership to. The gym is always clean, the staff is always willing to help however they can, and the overall atmosphere makes you motivated to workout. The managers Danielle and Trent do a phenomenal job, go Brookhaven!
