Although the gym facility is pleasant (except for the bathrooms) I had to cancel my membership due to my schedule. I had to cancel in person and the front desk staff was immature and the opposite of professional greeting me with "what's up". I was charged an annual fee 2 days prior to cancelation but received no notification. You would think a corporation of this size would be able to refund me since it was only a 2 day difference...nope did not happen. I spoke to the "manager" at the location over the phone and he was very dismissive and refused to provide his last name stating it was confidential and he didn't have to give me anything! He couldn't even provide me with the corporate number I requested stating he didn't have it and had no way to find it. One Google search and I found it smh. I am all about young people working and managing but LA Fitness do a better job of training your employees! I will never return to LA Fitness.

Wow! What an excellent experience. We thought we had set up our account. Wrong! Kyle, at the front desk, walked us through the 1 hour!!!! Process with our insurance company. I can’t begin to describe how nice he has been! Also, Kevin the manager, was here to help. What great customer service. Overcrowded most of the time. Two squat racks and three benches total. The cleanliness of the restrooms consistently is terrible. They make it really difficult to cancel your membership.

Filthy. Lots of people not retaking free weights. Many of the machines throughout the gym are broken and have “scheduled for service” signs posted which means they are broken and unusable. I’ve been a member for about 6 months and the same machines are still broken. Many of the treadmills are rusted and need deep, deep cleaning. Overall the gym doesn’t pass what I consider to be responsible expectations.

1. When a group of 5 women block one wing of the entrance, why does the front desk become blind?
2. Too many people idling at equipment with important cellphone glances. If they are that important, you deserve a full gym in your basement.
3. One black woman at the front desk occasionally (thank God for that) doesn't care if you check in or not - again, she is reading very important stuff on her cellphone. She deserves to not work as a mere front desk.

I know a gym cannot get everything right. But other than the above observations, no complaints. I've been with them for 1 year now.

For the price of the membership, compared to other gyms in the price bracket, LA fitness fits the bill. Staff is welcoming, equipment is available during busy times, sauna is amazing which similar priced gyms do not have and I am enjoying the group classes. I love that I can bring a friend me as well. Great local gym in Downingtown!

If you get a membership here you will be paying for 2 squats racks that hundreds of people have to wait for. You will be paying for sometimes 2-3 day long periods of no sanitation wipes. (They were considerate enough to put a broken spray bottle next to the squat rack today). And I just found out today that sometimes you will be paying for there to be no soap in the bathrooms. Hopefully they can get a few more people to sign up for memberships before the city shuts off their water.

This place just keeps amazing me by how it just keeps going down hill. Everything is broken, it’s always dirty, bathroom are horrible and to top things off they’re always extremely late to open on week days and weeks ends. There will be 50 people standing around for 45 minutes then everyone has had enough and leaves.

Good selection of machines, free weights and pullies, although the attachments and some equipment are getting a bit old. Needs some updating, repair, replace. The cleaning is subpar versus other LAF's. Just need to care a bit more about the place. It is busy. I don't think it would break them to put in some minor upgrades, maybe post some signs to remind people of good gym etiquette, especially new members.

1/29/25. I arrived about 510 am with my id n Medicare card an employee coming in for a workout welcomed me back
Than I had to Encounter ADAM. I was ready with my health insurance card & ID. The previous 2 years that’s all that was needed. It changed. I get Adam has to follow directions. I should of asked him to get the other employee
but respect he was working out
I sat in green chairs 30 mins
I informed Adam at the beginning my phone was off. He didn’t offer to do it on the computer for me. Which I am assuming that’s what happened past 2 years. I did look in his direction entire time. He didn’t realize a solution. As you can see in the uploaded photos he had 2 options to offer me.
I was so proud of myself for getting here to use red light n hot tub only. I am disabled I fell once 2 days ago and 4 times yesterday. I really needed pain relief from hot tub and red light

I am disabled use a cane and sometimes wheel chair.
I had my cane with me.
I drove home borrowed a credit card refilled my phone. Made an account with my health insurance and got Adam his access number

I find him very uncaring of others. Especially the disabled
Staff needs training about visible and indivisible disabilities

Than he states he could of done it with my email. Why didn’t he say something as I sat in pain for 30 minutes & drove home

Horrible. Rust is everywhere, machines with no grease so nothing slides easy or there's too much grease leaking out of other machines. The dirtiness of this gym ruined my brand new pants. Not to mention there's sweat marks from months of not being cleaned on every piece of glass there and what appears to be snot on the walls. Sticky floors, broken scales, and management that doesn't care. I watch the pride employees walk around with cleaning products but that's all they do, just walk around, they don't clean.
This location is in dire need of some TLC and I doubt it'll ever happen. Find you something else cause this ain't it.

LA Fitness has some good features, like the pool, sauna, and a variety of classes, which are definite perks. However, the gym itself is in serious need of an update. Many of the machines have visible rust, which is a huge turn-off and raises concerns about maintenance. It’s disappointing to see the equipment in such poor condition. While the amenities are nice, the overall experience could be much better with some investment in facility upkeep.

It's an ok gym. You get a lot of stares, and the people at the front are really pushy to get you to take a class with their fitness person. Not very friendly at all and when I ask for help I get a scoff. I don't want to apart of this gym anymore and the only way to cancel is either going there and canceling with them or filling out a form and mailing it to their corporate office. If you ask me a company who asks for a membership at that price with the amount of people actually going could make the cancelation process available online in about 2 months but no corporate would rather pay themselves rather than listen to the customer.

I had to return several times to cancel my membership and was told that the manager would contact me, but never did because they were unavailable. When I called to follow up regarding my cancellation, I was told I would need to come up again as they cannot do it without me being in person. Mind you, the sales manager said to me that Madison would be able to take care of it when he took down my information. What is the purpose of taking down my information if the manager was never going to call or handle it? I am a mom of five, and it’s already hard trying to make time for myself, but now I have to waste my time and gas again to accomplish a task that should have been completed when I came in person twice. This is horrible customer service, and honestly, it seemed like there needed to be an operation manager available for guests, especially when they come during regular business hours.

I have been a member of LA fitness for 2 years, and it is the most enjoyable gym environment I have found. Brett, the custodian here keeps the gym clean all throughout the day, never leaving spills or garbage on the ground, which I have not found to be the case at other locations or gym clubs in general! Barbara the Pilates teacher is one of my main reasons for coming to LA fitness, she offers high quality Pilates instruction and my only feedback is that I wish she had classes more frequently throughout the week. I met Kurt, a new personal trainer who is a great addition to your team. He is quick to be helpful and went out of his way to find answers to questions for me even though this is only his second week at LA fitness. I recommend this LA Fitness Location to everyone in this area, if you’re looking for a great workout environment with a helpful team, a clean space, and overall friendly gym goers.

Great gym, lots of space and people are generally courteous here. Only complaint is that they don't clean it enough. Under the machines and benches there is almost always a lot of dirt and grime. Only day without it is obviously the one day a week they come in and vacuum.

On edit: Only gotten worse despite replacing the floors which should have make it easier to clean. Any time there is a plumbing issue it's months before being repaired.

Joined in August at LA Fitness instead of other lower cost gyms solely because they had the Kids Club. Less than a month after joining, without any email or call giving notice to members, the Kids Club abruptly closed. Only notice was a few small signs posted in the gym. So after two weeks of going, and dealing with the struggle that comes along with getting a two year old comfortable with going to a new place, they close due to "lack of attendance". Since I could no longer atrend without being able to take my child, I tried to cancel that day, September 5th. Was told I would have to wait for the manager to come back from vacation to cancel my membership. Called several times in the week or two after, and was told again that I needed a manager to cancel my membership. Finally got a hold of a woman who said she was the assistant manager (not sure why I wasn't put in contact with her to begin with if the manager was unavailable). She told me I had to cancel in person and couldn't over the phone because they needed to verify my identity- clearly a stall tactic considering just about any other membership in the world can be cancelled over the phone. Finally got around to making it into the gym to cancel, and miraculously, an associate was able to cancel my membership for me. So trying to make it in when a manager was available for no reason at all. In the midst of all this, I was charged another month's membership payment, along with a $50 annual fee that I was not informed of when joining. I told the associate who cancelled my membership that I needed to be refunded for both of these fees- the monthly membership fee because it incurred while I was waiting for a manager to cancel my membership, and for the annual fee because it was charged to my account just a month after joining and was never explained to me. After initially saying he couldn't refund anything, the associate finally agreed to refund the monthly membership fee but said he couldn't refund the annual fee because "it was explained in my contract". Being deceptive and using stall tactics to get members to keep memberships that are of no use to them most definitely comes from a culture that is trickled down from corporate. I also have a hard time believing that the manager who signed me up for my membership had no idea the kids club would be closing in less than a month, when I clearly explained to him this was my main reason for joining.

I have recently attended La fitness by quarrey road. I have commenced with a personal trainer Andrew, who has assisted me with my physical development. I am currently in the second week of training and he has treated me with great reverence and has added further knowledge on my training. Comprehending that growth does not occur in comfort zone means you must push yourself even harder to achieve success. Andrew has been a great motivator with me for where I am weak, I will be made strong! Thank you Andrew for the commencement of this journey and I look forward to continue working with you in the future.

I’ve had a great time at LA Fitness. The variety in equipment could use some expansion but overall the place is nice, well kept, and the staff are great. One of the personal trainers, Andrew, has been super helpful. I’m not a client of his but poking his brain when I’m a little confused has been a great help to me and my progress. All of the staff are also super friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help even with the little things.

I would rate a 3.5 if I could. Basketball court is fine. Some equipment should be replaced or deeply cleaned (scrub) Only thing that’s a real issue is the swimming pool and hot tub. Floors need power washing. The tile and flooring within the hot tub and pool need replacement. Lots of dirt, hard stains. Took a dip in the hot tub and it was dirty, lots of tiny particles. You can tell is hasn’t been cleaned in a while.

Personal training is horrible it took a month of my "personal trainer" Andrew canceling on me the day of to even see him. The first time I saw him was after he was called back into the gym after he didn't confirm our session and said "Oh I forgot". The "personal trainer" has cancelled a session in the morning and has asked 10 minutes before our scheduled session if I was coming and when i responded no he asked how far away I live. The second session i had he asked if I could come 2 hours beforehand after canceling on the time he chose. Even after 2 months of him canceling every session they want to charge us $2,000 to cancel. Despite me trying to book every week for the past 2 months. DONT GET PERSONAL TRAINING HERE.

I had my first session with Vee today and it was also a great experience. I would recommend this gym to friends and family. And @LAFitness give these guys a raise!

Water at water fountains is always warm. None of the TVs or channels work on the ellipticals. The men's bathroom is normally disgusting. Not cleaned nearly enough given the traffic.

After 2 yrs at this gym here's what you can expect:
-always filthy, rarely cleaned, i've seen the same tumbleweeds of hair and dust for months at a time
-much of the equipment is broken or only partially working for weeks to months (ex. counted 27 cardio machines down at one time), most of the equipment 20 yrs old and rusty, no safety inspections (had a cable break, a peddle fall off a bike, and numerous other pieces of equipment break)
-discourteous clientele, dropping weights, leaving gym bags all over, not wiping equipment down, blocking the dumbbells, and trying to use multiple stations while people are waiting
-unconcerned staff, complaints go unanswered, everything blamed on corporate, constant staff turnover, always multiple staff members on their phones and even had one that walked around with an erection on more than one occasion hitting on the girls in the gym
-more teenagers than i've ever seen in a gym (sitting on machines using their phones, taking pics and video in the locker room and gym floor, basically socializing and making a nuisance of themselves)(managment claimed that recording pics and video in the locker room was permitted), it's like a daycare (young children being dropped off and even found a 12 yr old in the pool by himself while mom was elsewhere in the gym for over an hour)(management claimed that 13 yrs of age or older were permitted full access unaccompanied)
-sauna/pool/spa all broken at multiple times
-basketball players being loud and disruptive or dribbling around the gym floor, sometimes playing music that can be heard throughout the gym competing with the gym's music

Overall, this facility and the way it's run are a nightmare and don't deserve even one star.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW: LAF Downingtown just completed a renovation and the place looks great!!! New floors and some of equipment moved for better traffic flow. What a difference it makes!! 4.5 is my revised rating. All is needed to be a 5.0 is new equipment. Also the new Operations Manager is great. Very professional, personable and listens to members’ comments and suggestions.

A lot of machines have been out of order for 6 months or more. Many of the others are rusting in place and need TLC. The heat is broken in the yoga/fitness rooms for weeks now. Place has been on a downward trajectory since the pandemic. Time to show it some love.
