I've been a member of valley fitness for quite some time.But i've had some recent experiences.There were i'm very concerned about. I found that it's not like an American health club. There are a lot of foreigners there and they do not treat women with the same respect as they should. I have a degree in exercise. Physiology and a personal training certification, and i'm extremely knowledgeable about fitness. The men at that health club are not
Respectful of any kind of woman with any talent, they do I don't even know how to
Talk, and I don't feel safe there. There's also cleanliness issues.
And at times it appears very unprofessional. But what is so glaringly wrong is that in America, women have the freedom and the right to choose. But when you go to LA Fitness that environment does not reflect
That. And uh, it almost appears like they want to redistribute your wealth minute you walk in? It's not appreciated and very offensive for women who really work hard for the money and then, uh, they come to a health club where these people are hanging out and doing this.

Good place for everything except changing or canceling your membership. The sales managers will delay or pretend to forget to ask their operations manager to cancel your membership and end up charging you for extra months. And then when you request a refund... more fake promises. Second time I had to go through customer support and they told me to either go back to the sales manager or provide 'evidence'. How sad is it that this is the only decently priced gym in town not a planet fitness.

When I first joined LA Fitness, I joined to improve my fitness and lose weight. I did accomplish those goals, but solely on my own. Oftentimes, I had to ask the staff different questions, but their common response was, I can't really help you.It's not my job. They couldn't even locate a fitness stick, and they made no attempts to help me with anything ever. They were many times when I had to report things to the staff that were very concerning. One afternoon when I came in to workout, I found a switchblade sitting in the women's locker room. I immediately turned it in because I didn't want anyone to get hurt or it to get into the wrong hands. And I also noticed that you really can't have a conversation about fitness with someone and people really don't want to talk about anything. I have a degree in exercise, physiology and sports management and also a certification in training. But the biggest thing that I've noticed is that the staff there truly especially, does it want to help you with anything? And they claim it's not their job.

I have been using this LAF facility for over 5 years now when I come to Lancaster to check on my property. I live on Long Island and use most if not all facilities there. But every time I visit Pa. I look forward to coming to the Lititz facility, it’s clean and the staff works constantly to make sure members are in a good place. Andrew R. (Manager) Always takes the time to talk and see if there is anything he can do to make the experience better or just smile and offer encouragement to all members looking to get the day started in the right direction.
I feel it’s my home away from home, I look forward to my next visit in August and beyond!

New to LA Fitness. So far found staff friendly, but bathrooms and equipment needing some cleaning. Came from Planet Fitness and must say they do a much better job of cleaning. Staff daily wipes down equipment and dusts. I haven’t seen anyone doing that yet at LAF. PF has better situated sanitizing stations. LAF can add a few since they’re too far often to access. I don’t see people wiping down their machines after use.
I do enjoy pool and LAF has better machines so there’s that.

I am new to the gym but couldn't be happier. There is a wide array of exercise equipment, a pool, hot tube, sauna, racket ball and basket ball court, even a refreshment area that you can get healthy smoothies from. The whole facility is very clean and the staff are all ready to help you with any questions you may have. Great place to go to for a boost to your health.

I have belonged to LA Fitness for over 15 years. I moved around a lot, so I have been to many other locations. In comparison, the others are much cleaner.
The sauna, bathrooms, group fitness room, and equipment all need a good cleaning.

It's a pretty dated gym. Equipment is old. There are cracks in the floor mats where you do stretches which annoys me. How hard is it to replace mats. They need an etiquette guide for the sauna....what posseses people to be glued to their phone in the sauna and no I don't want to listen to your music or some stupid video you are watching. Then there is the woman who treats it like a changing room. No I don't want to smell your dirty clothes or deal with you changing, shoes and all, in a 6 by 8 heated space. The staff are nice, courts are good and the shake bar is great. Please post an etiquette guide on sauna door.

The swimming pool closes unexpectedly and frequently for repairs, sometimes for a month-plus. It was closed June through August 2024 unexpectedly. It is closed again for the last 5 + weeks and as of today, Jan 11 2025, no firm date on when it will open. On the plus, there is great number and wide variety of weightlifting equipment.

I’ve been coming this gym for over 10 years as a member. It’s a decent gym, but the maintenance and cleanliness of the gym suffer immensely on weekends when they have less staffing. Frequently you will find no paper towels, trash all over the bathroom floors (which also speaks to the type of customers…), and then this morning (Saturday), NO ONE showed up to actually open the gym at 8am when they are supposed to open. This is completely unacceptable as a member. I will be calling to receive a refund for this month. There are literally 25 people standing outside the gym waiting for someone responsible enough to show up to work and open it…

EDIT: 11/3/24: And yet again, no one shows up to open the gym at its opening time of 8am. How in the world does a business stay open with this nonsense? The management needs to fire anyone who isn’t responsible enough to show up and open a door. It’s not really that difficult.

2nd EDIT: 1/11/25: And again, 8am Saturday morning. No one shows up to open the gym at 8am. 5-10 people stood outside for 10+ minutes then got tired of it and either left or went back to their cars. I personally had plans in a few hours so me getting up early to come gym to get a workout in before my scheduled plans was a useless endeavor. Corporate nonsense and major lack of leadership have been reoccurring issues ever since I’ve come to this gym. If local rec centers in Ephrata or Lititz weren’t so expensive, I would have been long gone from this place.

I recently had a membership issue and needed to call the club to speak with a manager to work out the details and cancel my membership. I was hoping for a refund of the most recent charges to my card but my hopes were not high. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to get Andrew Reever on the phone who was super helpful and even after multiple phone calls between he and I (and he even called back when he said he would!!!) he was able to help to my complete satisfaction.

Decent selection of equipment. It's frequently crowded at 5 so waiting for machines is pretty normal around that time.

I would definitely make sure to clean the equipment before AND after using it! There seem to be lots of patrons that don't wipe down the equipment when they are done.

The whole club could use some work. There's broken paper towel dispensers and missing sanitizer stations. The men's locker room could also use a remodel. Lots of broken lockers, missing paper towel dispensers, and not always very clean.

My girlfriend and I play racquetball there frequently, the courts are nice, and usually there is no wait.

I have been to many LA fitnesses and recently came back to check this one out after not coming for over a year. The place was horrid. It was so dirty and immediately kinda grossed me out. Yeah they have a lot of equipment to choose from but cleanliness is also so important, especially the bathrooms. Big Positives - I have been a member of LA Fitness for over a year now. I have nothing but positive things to say about Brandon (the director) and the manager with the blonde hair. They are both so kind and handle stress well. Stephen, who is their most recent trainer, is also really great. I asked him for a lower ab workout plan at my last session about a month ago, and my stomach is already looking toned. He is also always there if I have a question.

Jada was the other main trainer I worked with and I definitely miss her. She always put her clients first before her time. She would chat with me and was very personable. She really wanted to see her clients look their best.

I would also like to mention the new girl they have working in childcare in the evenings is amazing. She is sweet and great at handling large groups of kids at one time. If they cry, she never calls us out from a workout to come get our kids; she just handles it so us parents can get the most out of our workout and enjoy one of the few hours we have to find some serenity. If I ever run behind, she waits and is very understanding.

The Smoothie Bar is a bonus!

Small Complaints - I was looking for sanitation wipes to clean off the treadmill and had to walk a bit to find a station because the closest stations to me were empty (which is fine no big deal I know they are busy), but the gentlemen working in childcare came out to look for me 1 minute past 12 pm. I typically don't complain about employees, but I was pretty upset. He couldn't have spared me 5 minutes to clean my machine? Also, my child was crying for the first 5 minutes, and he said, "If he continues to cry for another 10 minutes, I will come out and get you". Just says a lot about how much he cares about his work at LA. At least pretend that you want to be at your job, even if that is not the department you signed up for.

Also, could we change the channels on one side of the cardio machines, even if the screens are blank? I think I speak for everyone when I say that I don't think a place where the atmosphere is supposed to radiate positive energy and feel good is the place to stay updated on wars, children being killed overseas, and America surging in debt. I would face away from the TVs, but they are right in front of all of the cardio machines.

I am still rating LA Fitness five stars because I respect how Brandon directs and manages the facility, and the complaints I have are small compared to the amazing people who work there.

I've been a member for a number of years here. The staff may be friendly, but the condition is questionable. Just pop in and look at the bathroom and the treadmills - there are almost always broken treadmills and many layers of dust on the treadmills and the equipments. Big gym. Lots of options for working out. Has a pool, has classes. The place is aged and bare minimal upkeep on building and equipment. The pool can get crowded with people either just lounging in the pool or talking. People will definitely just jump into a lane without waiting for people who were their first and waiting. Trying to find matching dumbbells and kettlebells outside of the free weight area is always a challenge things are not put away. Or they are being used to hold doors open.

The worst LA Fitness I’ve been to. Equipment old and outdated. Sauna doesn’t work and smells like mildew. Benches probably need to be replaced. Also I’d recommend downloading a playlist for your workout if your a music lover because the service is horrible inside and you can possibly lose signal to your radio station. Great gym, has great free weight and machine sections. Staff seem to stay on top of cleaning and keeping trouble makers out. Love the shake shop they have. They do personal training for beginners which I see can be a huge help for people. Alot of experienced lifters who are more than willing to give advice. The large majority of gym goers are respectable and easy to talk to/get along with. I've been lifting for 2 years there and never had an issue. I really enjoyed the facility .Tyler and Tim were both very helpful and answered all my questions ..The gym was the cleanest LA Fitness I’ve even been to and the sauna was working great! Def will be back and recommend to anyone looking for a new gym👍

So as for gyms it's pretty nice. Don't really have to wait too long on machines with plenty enough to use. Wide range of free weights from 10-120lbs. Very clean and they even got a shake bar for after workout. Possibly better than tropical smoothie. If you can afford the membership go to LA it's worth the money!!!

Honestly definitely one of the better "all-inclusive" gyms because of its price. Most gyms do not have a pool included but this gym does for the fraction of the price of a place like Universal.

Love the amenitites the gym has to offer however the pool and hot tub are in CONSTANT need of cleaning. The pool needs renovated badly, there are stains all throughout the area.
