My 1 star is based of my experience with a “ instructor “ not based off the gym itself even though I haven’t had the best experiences at the gym , the empty room with all the mirrors and weights was empty when I came , I didn’t know they were having a class so I set up my stuff in the corner away from anything else in this HUGE empty room .. a few minutes after working out by myself not disturbing anyone a few older women come in .. a few more follow and I think to myself they must be having a class soon but I only figured that out due to one of the girls saying last week the instructor didn’t even show up . So I ask them are they about to have a class ( something I didn’t have to do but I was trying to be considerate ) she said “ yup you can com back when it’s done it’s only for a hour “ ummm that’s not what I asked plus who said I was leaving ? She then proceeded to say it’s a safety issue .. umm okay I’m a woman just like them , what threat do I pose working out in the corner of a huge room ? Then the so called instructor came in late to start her class at that , so I figured I would ask someone actually working the class , I say hello and ask would it matter if I’m over in the corner working out . She proceeds to say “ you can’t be in here we are a community and other participants feel some type of way if your not dancing “ ummmm huh ?? She also says she is an employee of the gym & I can’t stay inside because it’s a “ disturbance “ to everyone else .. instead of saying oh no you can’t just work out in here but I would be happy for you to join our class given the fact we are all women trying to lose weight / better ourselves all I felt was embarrassment and humiliation because she purposely excluded me due to the fact I ASKED her could I work out in the corner ? It ruined my entire work out because even though I quietly gathered my things and left I was discouraged due to her unprofessional attitude and tone . I included her picture for anyone who wants to avoid having a class with someone who is unprofessional and clearly doesn’t know how to talk to people .

The female locker room was not cleaned all day! I went to the front desk and they said it was no female to clean the locker room. So management wasn’t smart enough to close the locker from for 30 minutes to clean up! When I arrived you have a manger on his home and told me to talk to one of the 3 people at the front desk. Today I visited this gym. The gym is in a very trashy state. The smells are bad. The pool and bathrooms are not cleaned. The lobby smells bad and is dirty. I told the manager of LA Fitness. The manager is a girl. She told me that if you don't like it, leave. She was very rude. Don't come to this place again. They only care about their own profit.

Staff is great and the environment is welcoming. The pool is well-maintained and always working. Unfortunately, the sauna has been out of commission for years, and the bathrooms are hit-or-miss when it comes to cleanliness and stocking paper towels or toilet paper. I was a member of this gym since December 2024 and today I cancelled my membership. I specifically signed up for LA fitness for the Sauna, bigger gym, more equipment and the showers. Good luck finding any free weights in this place. The weights are always scattered any time of the day. They don’t put weights back and reset at the end of everyday so it always stays like this. They don’t approach anyone that is being a nuisance and they let groups of people record work outs all over the gym .The bathrooms are gross and the showers are horrible filled with sewer flies and built up mildew. The woman they had working the weekday morning shift is gone and she was always so nice, now they have a young guy there who doesn’t even look up when people walk in. I lost my Apple Watch yesterday and when I called and asked if he could send a staff member into the locker room to check for me he said “yeah you should come check that out” didn’t take down my number or anything in case someone found it. The sauna has been broken for who knows how long. I guess they’re tired of people asking about it so they put up a million signs. The 5am staff beside the front desk are always nice and say Goodmorning, they are great. I really wanted to love this gym but I can’t see the difference between them and planet fitness, so I’ll be going back there. And it’s not only this location, the other La fitness gyms in the area are so run down there’s no upkeep and they don’t replace beat up machines. They need new management who care and run the gym like their own.

Please do not go to this LA fitness , They will take your money. I went to this LA Fitness by Pass One (Medicare) and they never acknowledge that I had Pass One. They sign me up anyway with further knowing that I have Pass One. I went back to them the next day and had to explain to him that I was not suppose to get charge by LA Fitness. I wish I didn't have to give them one star. They don't deserve it. I went there with my 2yr old son and boyfriend because we were told over the phone twice that it was okay for my son to come in for the pool.... Okay we get there and the female that Is at the desk 2 or 3 hrs later comes in the pool area and tells us that my son can not be in the pool. If you were doing your job then you would have told us something about it earlier and I know you saw my son. We had to get the police involved due to the who la fitness staff being unprofessional when we asked for names and information. They started hiding their faces and acting ratchet and very unprofessional. There were multiple employees that work there that saw me my son and my boyfriend in the building walking to the pool and in the pool as well. The cleaning service at Cotman Ave is terrible. Today I was one of the first people to enter the pool, and the shower walls were covered in mold, there was soap leftovers, hair tangled on one side, the windows were very dirty, and the bathrooms were beyond praise. I think they should pay more attention to that.

Today, on the actual due date, I received a phone call regarding a late fee and was pressured to make a payment immediately. It was unclear how a late fee could be applied on the very day payment was due, and the interaction felt abrupt and unnecessarily urgent.

While I have always found the gym facility to be well-maintained and the on-site staff to be courteous and professional, the approach taken by the corporate office felt transactional and somewhat aggressive. The tone of the call gave the impression of financial desperation and poor customer retention efforts, which significantly detracted from my overall experience.

After months of paying for a service I had not used, being contacted in such a manner left me feeling harassed and undervalued. As a result, I made the decision to cancel my membership. First and foremost, it’s unfortunate that the management at this location seems more concerned with flexing control than providing a quality customer experience. From the beginning, I noticed red flags.

I came in on a 3-day pass, only to see signs inside the locker room advertising a free 7-day pass—which made no sense to me, since everyone in the locker room is already a member. Why not post that where non-members can actually see it?

After my workout, I asked the staff if I could switch my 3-day pass to the 7-day offer I had just seen. The salesperson offered me a better deal: a free 2-week trial, but with a catch—I had to enroll on the spot. He explained that after two weeks, I’d be charged $165, followed by another $50 annual fee shortly after. The price felt excessive, but I enjoyed the gym, so I agreed.

However, on my next visit, I noticed new signage in the locker room promoting a $5 initiation fee offer. Since I hadn’t been charged yet, I went back to ask if I could switch to that offer instead. The staff initially said yes, but then changed the terms, saying I’d now have to pay the full initiation fee plus the first and last month’s dues immediately—completely going against the original agreement to charge me at the end of the two-week trial.

What followed was an unnecessary back-and-forth. I wasn’t trying to game the system—I was simply asking for clarity and fairness. Instead, I was met with defensiveness and dismissiveness, especially from the manager. That’s when I realized this was the same manager I had an issue with two years ago—who canceled my guest pass because I didn’t show up on his terms. For reference, he’s a slim Black gentleman with a bald head (don’t know his name).

At this point, I’ve decided I’ll never return to this location again. The way potential members are treated here reflects poorly on the brand. Instead of working with customers in good faith, they engage in confusing pricing schemes, pressure tactics, and power-tripping management behavior. I recommend choosing a different LA Fitness—one where professionalism and respect are part of the workout experience.

Today I was using the elevator going from the second floor to the first floor. After I entered, I pressed the first floor button and I was stuck in the elevator for about three minutes. The alarm was going off and I pressed the alarm button and all sorts of buttons that would trigger an alarm, the door finally opened. As soon as I exited the elevator, I went to the front desk and informed the young fella that was working at that time. He's very dismissive he shows no concern or any effort to investigate the issue or at least put a sign up to warn the next patron that the elevator is malfunctioning. The best thing he could offer was to leave a note and let the manager know. This happened today, March 21st about 5:15 p.m.

LA Fitness Cottman is my favorite, the staff is friendly and the gym is very well laid out with top of the line equipment. But the main reason that this is a favorite location is Natalie, my personal trainer. She has changed my life! She’s so encouraging and positive, always helping me push myself. She believes in me, which in turn helped me believe in myself. She’s a gem!! I have never felt stronger, more optimistic and happy. I truly feel like I owe it all to Natalie (and the equipment at LA Fitness). Check Natalie out, I promise you, you will fall in love with fitness and yourself.

LA Fitness Cottman Ave- I was visiting from Australia and wanted to find a local gym. The first gym I tried had very unhelpful and inexperienced staff. Just across the road, I was immediately greeted by Mel when I walked into the LA Fitness gym. The Manager, Morgan, and the sales team were able to provide me with a temp membership for my entire stay in NE Philly. The facility was exceptionally clean and there is a ton of equipment for all levels of fitness. I highly recommend this gym and will be back again soon. Thanks again LA Fitness team. This location is smaller than I expected, but it's genuinely one of the nicer locations that I've been to. So far, I'm content with what I've seen and experienced for a chain gym like this and don't mind continuing to pay $30/mo for my membership.

Went here for the first time this past weekend because my previous location near my workplace (Esporta in Cherry Hill, NJ) permanently closed, but they gave the members there nationwide access to all locations. The facility in Cheltenham, overall, needs improvement! The equipment is outdated especially in the spin class! Gez-n-crackers, there's more broken bikes with foot straps so worn they're useless and we ain't gonna to onc again complain about the lack of instructors so there's enough to classes in other areas. Next, let's look at the dirt .. we've given names to the dust bunnies! Mirrors have prints from dinosaurs. It's the only club where the front desk never make you feel welcomed. The Abington facility is better, but the smell tells its not clean either but equipment is updated and there's no dust bunnies large enough to name .. and the front desk folk are professional and welcoming. Cottman facility is the BEST! The front desk are polished and nice, equipment is almost as good as that fancy joint called Life Time, heck...if they added a beauty salon, coffee shop, beach pool...this facility would give Life Time a run!

I don't like to comment much but I went on the morning of 12.10.2024 and got a 3-day trial permit from the internet and went. The employee at the door welcomed me but She could barely answer the phone on her own. One of the employees came to me, he was a blond, slightly chubby man. He had a condescending and unpleasant attitude and only wanted me to become a member immediately. He also insulted me by saying "Did you come just to use it for free?" However, I left there and registered at Bensalem LA Fitness. I never recommend it because of this attitude. And I recommend that you hire people who can do their job well. because people are free to look for the best place in terms of price performance. (By the way close the pool window, it is not nice for people outside to see the pool side. 🙏😅)

The sauna room has been closed until further notice for at least two years, which is very disappointing. There hasn’t been any clear communication from management about when it might reopen, leaving members in the dark. Considering the sauna is one of the main amenities advertised, it feels like the membership fees don’t reflect the reduced offerings.

That said, the gym equipment is well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the locker rooms are clean. However, it would be great if management could provide a timeline for the sauna repairs or offer alternative amenities to make up for its prolonged closure.

I take Zumba class every Tuesday at LA Fitness at Cottman Avenue. Doris is our Zumba instructor. She is an excellent Zumba teacher and comes up with beautiful new songs and moves. I look forward to her classes. She is friendly and nice to talk to.
I take kickboxing classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. Alice is a great teacher and keeps us going. She has a very lively personality. Lots of positive energy in the classes. I love her cool down dance.
On Thursdays and Fridays, I take Svetla's classes. The classes are awesome. She is a calm and a study teacher. I love attending her classes.
Finally, I would like to say that front desk ladies are friendly and welcoming.

I specifically canceled my PF membership to join LA Fitness for the classes. Word on the street was the cycling class with Latisha was hitting so I had to see what it was about. Eight weeks later and 16 pounds lighter from the day I joined and had my assessment I am beyond satisfied!! The motivation from Latisha and the cycling class regulars that show up religiously are top tier! Not only are the classes improving my health and body it has done wonders for me mentally. I’m paying almost 50$ per month for this gym, I’m waiting a good service and good facilities. I’m complaining because in the men’s restroom, there’s a sauna that has been closed since I start 3 months ago, and when I go and ask one of the workers, when it will be open, they just said; “It won’t open never again” Very good answer to one loyal customer. This gym has a ton of equipment along with an indoor pool and hot tub. However cleanliness is a major issue. The weights are all over the place and parking is either hit or miss.

The Sauna has been shut down for over a year. Still No estimated time on when it’s going to get fixed. What a shame when that’s primarily the reason why I chose LA fitness as opposed to their competitors.

Her we Go the Staff is terrible and bully and abusive.
I have guest from Dubai. They came with me. I already did a membership for them, but when I went there, they start talking rudely and start insulting us thus and there was one bald guy. Maybe he was the managers or something like that. He start very Rage and come for fight with us. The other employees stopped him. Ignore this place at any cost if you respect yourself.

I like this location! Close to my home, wasn’t too busy when I went, and the gym goers are considerate when asking/waiting for a machine. Didn’t see many ppl just sitting on their phones hogging machines! Only downside is the wipes. Many of the wipe stations were out, but that seems like a problem at many of the locations! Overall, I’ll definitely make this my new home gym.

My friend and I are members of this gym. At the beginning of the membership, the attitude of the staff was very good, which made me happy. However, until I wanted to cancel the membership, my friend and I came more than five times in the past and failed to cancel the membership, which made me very annoyed and hereby write a bad review.

Choose a different Facility if you can. The Sauna has not been working for a very long time and they dont seem to be concerned about it either. Bathrooms are not clean most of the time.

This place at Philadelphia Mills was unique upstairs was a running track . The pool was a Olympic size always very clean and 3 floors locker room and showers very clean . There no comparison to the one on Grant and Rosevelt Blvd even though it’s must newer water in pool looks like creek water and the pool floor very slippery and sticky . Lockers floor and corners panels need detail cleaning not going back to Grant Ave one at all . THE DM needs to send a cleaning team to Grant Ave and get that place cleaned up to specks

The newest and best LA gym within the city limits. Medium-sized and way too much prime space dedicated to trainers and clients for which neither usually uses said space.

Staff needs improvement.
