McCandless location is closing on Dec 2 (just notified us today) and they refuse to cancel personal training membership, except to offer charging me remaining 6 months at 50% of original price. Sad that I will have to dispute the charges instead of them acting in good faith. Not a surprise that the FTC is currently suing LA Fitness. Despite this conflict, It's important to note that the gym team has been great since day 1, especially my trainer Jeremy.

I'm extremely annoyed with the cancelation policy for LA Fitness. There is no online or phone call option to cancel the membership. I had to order my 2 dogs in the car and drive all the way to the gym just to ask to cancel my membership. I will not start a membership at any of their locations ever again due to this inconvenience.

I just met with their fitness director, Jayson, and he was amazing. A true asset to the team. He is a light around the gym; waving hi to everybody. He has genuine excitement for people wanting to come in and make positive change in their health and lives. I’ve been going to this gym for several months now and there’s no feeling of intimidation or competition. Even the clients have been nothing but friendly.

The sauna has been broken off and on for 8 months. It does not go above 150F 6 days of the week. The front desk, operations manager, and regional manager refuse to take responsibility and refuse to acknowledge there’s a problem. They deflect by saying “it works when I go in”, or they blame it on the customers saying “water is being thrown on the rocks”. The majority of sauna-goers here are fed up and soon will be switching to Crunch down the street. Crunch’s sauna works 100% of the time and they don’t make excuses or deflect when anything goes wrong in their gym

I’ve been going to this LA Fitness for some time now, every time I’m back visiting in Pittsburgh. It’s a great facility and super clean! The floor space is quite big so you never really feel like you’re waiting for equipment or that it’s too crowded. Staff is always friendly and members seem to be very courteous and respectful. The pool is a plus and a quick in and out, close to the front, if that’s all you’re up for. I haven’t taken a cycling class there yet but the indoor cycling room is first-class. Lots of treadmills and cardio available too. People work hard and the atmosphere encourages you to do the same!

There's a new employee and she did what the other employees couldn't do for four months. She got all of my information and membership card figured out. She is very proficient at her job and I thank her very much. Her name was Grace M. She got my membership fixed and got me my new card and did what no one else did for me. She helped me with what I needed to get into the club.

There is insufficient ventilation inside. Everywhere smells like sweat. None of the machines are cleaned. The floors are filthy and there is always hair. I couldn't do my training because of the smell inside. I will never come again.

Don’t do the personal training! Even after you complete your required time, they continue to bill you. Even after telling Mike twice that I wanted no further sessions, still was billed. Mike and corporate will not return my numerous calls.
Pool closed within a month of joining and Mike knew that the pool was a main reason for my joining.
YMCA has a pool and so many more group classes offered along with a very large basketball court.

I also joined for the pool. I was completely talked into buying the training. I am very gullible. They were totally aware of my upcoming knee surgery and never stopped taking payments. Wow, great work out. Too bad la fitness is a decling business. This is a newer la fitness. The equipment (life fitness) is very good. The operation is smoth making for a great time. The sad thing is, they closed the pool/hot tub indefinitely. The pool was what attracted me to la fitness. I've been to several locations from Bridgeview to Monroeville and Southside and bakery square. Each closing their pools. They had face lifts recently but, the equipment remains sub par compared to the Duncan rd. Location, not to mention no pools.
Because of all the pool closings and the declining equipment I'm starting to look for another gym to join. No need to pay the higher prices for services you can't get. After 20 years with la fitness it's now a mater of finding the best equipment.

Canceled my signature membership due to the permanent closure of the pool. I have been going to this location for several years and the pool really was the main reason for staying with LA... Nowadays there are definitely cleaner and cheaper gym options around for machines and weights.

I was given several different reasons for the closure, but the one I believe is that corporate doesn't want to pay to have two lifeguards on duty, which I guess the County now requires. I believe this to be quite plausible because all the LA Fitness branches in Allegheny County shut down their pools around the same time claiming that they were broken. I am really disappointed that this all has transpired this way, as I liked the convenience and cost of this location. I think management does try to do what they can to maintain the place, but corporate seems to really handcuff them. I was willing to overlook the broken machines, lockers with missing and busted doors, moldy showers, frequently malfunctioning HVAC, and worn carpets, but losing the pool was just the last straw for me. I really won't be surprised if LA branches start closing altogether.

One instance that came to me was a worker named Zarian, asked him for some advice on some workouts I could do and the best way to do them, and he was very compassionate and helpful, made the entire experience more enjoyable. Really nice weight lifting and cardio areas. The front staff is very nice and welcoming. However, The sauna hasn’t been hot in 2 months, there was human vomit in one of the showers for an entire weekend recently. I wish they would clean the locker rooms and ensure their sauna works properly especially since they’ve slashed expenses by shutting down the pool.

I am extremely disappointed with LA Fitness. I signed up my entire family for memberships just last month specifically for the swimming pool, only to learn that it’s being permanently closed as of December 13, 2024. This feels incredibly misleading and unfair. Due to low usage? Any time I've been there, it was hard to find a pool lane with fewer than 2 people already in it.

Had I known the pool would be shut down, I never would have joined. Families like mine rely on the amenities you advertise when making these decisions, and this lack of transparency has left us feeling cheated. I expect better communication and accountability from a company like LA Fitness. This has been a major letdown, and I’m seriously reconsidering our memberships.

First of all the lighting is harsh in this place, why is it so bright? It's overkill. Secondly, I had my car broken into in the parking lot here and they had no cameras or anything to help me figure out who did this. A friend who goes here had his LOCK CUT in the men's locker room last week. You would have thought there would be some signs put up near the locker rooms after that like "hey, just a heads up, your stuff isn't secure here even with a lock!" So the fact that the members have no idea that happened is messed up. Lastly, the one lifeguard is super unfriendly and cold, I don't know what's up with them. Every time I go to swim there, it's like I'm the enemy for being there to swim. They are a bit of a jerk and need some instruction on how to be professional and polite to members.

Pool is disgusting. Snot and toilet paper floating all through it every time I went. Everything looks like it's sun bleached from not being updated for who knows how many years, but they charge you for a premium membership. Hayden told me my "kids club" fee could be refunded since I was already cancelled out of LA fitness gym membership November 2023 (which he couldn't do himself since he was authorized to only refund a short period of time). Waited a month for a CEO to call me (after about 10 phone calls to Hayden) only for him to say he'd refund me $30 of what was wrongly charged of me. Said "if you called me back when you cancelled your membership, then I would've refunded you a year" which makes literally no sense. Hayden says I couldn't bring my kid in without my LA Fitness membership and "this kind of thing happens all the time with the kid's club", but his CEO claims I could still take my kid in for care without a gym membership. Massive waste of time - not even worth getting $30 back.

For almost 2 months waiting for whirlpool to open. Said they needed a part. When part came, said it was opened but when we arrived they had it closed became it needed to be heated. Doesn't someone do that early AM?????
We arrived at 10am. This past Saturday, someone pooped in the whirlpool, and again it was closed and would be closed for 24 hrs. because one of the staff members put in too much disinfectant. (Usually you can reenter in about 1 hr. if correct amt. is used.)If it wasn't for the weights and machines that my husband uses, we would not be members. Inside exercise area is around 74 degrees, should be 68 degrees.
Most of the treadmills do not have working TVs. It was never like this years ago when we were some of the first members to join.

I joined because club Julian closed and this is the only place with a pool. The womens locker room is not clean. The lockers don't look like they have cleaned in a long time. The bathroom is not very clean either. The pool area has rust on the doors. The paint on the wall is comi.g up. It definitely needs some upgrades. I do not use the gym so I cannot give any input there.

This club is Convinent but the place needs serious cleaning and fixing . The ducts are not cleaned in years by the look of it, the men’s room lockers are broken the toilet doors are broken - if club Julian did not close this would not be a club I would work out at. They've done better lately with bathroom cleanliness. Lights are broken for more than 6 months at the Bakery Square location's racquetball court. Some machines broken, but you can usually find ones to use most times.

I've been a member here for a year now mainly going to the McCandless location and I've been pretty happy with what they have going on at this location. It's not a very crowded gym after work which is nice and most of the members are friendly. Gym has a lot of solid machines. You wanna hit a solid Push day? you're covered. A solid Leg day? covered. (maybe get another squat rack). Plenty of space. Ceilings are higher than wiz khalifa in that place man.

The staff: Max is a exceptional front desk associate and is extremely knowledgeable on the membership process, offerings, and operational procedures. Hard working guy for sure. I once saw him bring in over 200 bagels to donate to the needy. Yes, bagels (everything flavor too) Talk about a community. That's a whole lotta bagels.

Even though I mainly go to another gym closer to home, I still keep mine on hold until I decide to go back to visit the LA McCandless crew.

Another Saturday not open on time. They need to fire all their managers and bring in a new staff. It is absolute absolutely ridiculous that we pay this much to use a gym that cannot open on time.

09/26/2023 - The pool is still closed. Everyday I call and they tell me "it will open tomorrow". No refund no remorse. No way for a member to escalate.

Just for everyone’s knowledge, the swimming pool is closed for a week. Only got to know about it when I reached there. Even when they charge so of monthly fees, they do not inform you about pool closure. People are still forced to pay for the whole month even when the pool is closed for a week. Way to go LA FITNESS

It’s been over a month since I joined and was having a good time until they closed the swimming pool. I was told that it’d be closed for a week but it’s been well over that and is still closed. I was not expecting such a poor service from them and might have to think twice before signing up. You guys need to deliver what you promise.

Unmaintained. Showers have mold everywhere. Sauna if working has scum built up in-between the cedar planks you sit on. Bathrooms walls and doors around the toilets are rusting away. Locks don't work in stalls. Lockers are like old kitchen cabinets. Anyone could pop off any door with probably a pencil. Anytime anything breaks it takes months to fix. Carpets through the whole place have holes and stink. I can't believe people lay on them. Treadmills have rust on them. Almost everytine you walk into the club. There's a new person at the front desk. Because they can make more money at McDonald's.
Don't count on there anyone in the day care. My wife switched clubs because of multiple accasions there not being anyone in there to watch kids. Meanwhile there's 3 people sitting at the desks playing games on the computers. The quality of LA fitness you get here in McCandless Crossing area.......is not what you think. It's more like a club in the projects. It doesn't matter who you call and tell . They don't care

I decided to make this LA Fitness my home gym a year ago, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I highly recommend it for several reasons. Place is dog water. Left a few years ago and rejoined. Same stuff that was broken still is. No AC, Fans don't work. Kids club is a gamble if its open or not. Nobody cleans anything. 0/5 if I could.

The sauna here was the most foul and putrid thing I’ve ever smelled in a fitness center in my life. I tried to tough trough it but had to concede after the :45 second market and left gagging with the aroma forever burned into my brain. Blows my mind that this occurred.

It's annoying to see all the fans turned off during summer days. Everyone is working out and sweating out. I'm not sure why the fans are kept off all the time.
