This place has decent equipment, but the clients are extremely trashy. Loud, inconsiderate, park themselves on the machines and just play on their phones. I said something to the manager and he did nothing. A complete joke, will not return. Also issues with cleanliness and not opening on time on the weekends while a line stacks up outside. Nope.

I love going to LA Fitness. Plenty of equipment and options.
One concern though, there is now someone bringing a small "service dog". I get it, and that's fine. But this dog is running all over the place and playing with his ball or other toys and wants other random people to play fetch with it. The dog is interrupting people's workouts and is a distraction. If you want to bring your service dog (if that's what it really is), then I think it should at least be on a leash and restricted from engaging with other clients. I believe the leash laws apply to even service dogs.
My friend can longer come to this gym because he is highly allergic to dogs and this dog is dropping dander everywhere.
I've seen this dog running around the pool also, while his owner plays fetch from the water.
It's only a matter of time, but someone is going to slip, trip & fall because of this dog and there will be a lawsuit. GM "Ricky don't lose that number", is nowhere to be found most days to address this issue.
I'll address a formal complaint to corporate. If that doesn't do any good, then I'll get the ASPCA and borough involved about the leash laws.

This is a multi-million dollar business, but they can’t figure out how to get the HVAC right in the racquetball courts. Been an ongoing problem for years. For a while there was no AC in the summer, but now they have a brand new system they can’t figure out how to run!! There are many days we’re it’s like 40 degrees inside the courts!!
Management says they have no control over temperature, but somebody sure does!!!

Years ago my husband and I were members at LA.
Back then the place was dirty. Especially the locker rooms. And the showers were dirty. One day while I was taking a shower I heard people talking. Their employees. One was a woman, the other was a man! They never made an announcement that a man was coming in the locker room and bathroom area.
I yelled out that I was in the shower. All I heard back was that he would be finished soon. He didn't leave right then. So I'm hiding in the shower till he left.
I thought I'd give it another try since I heard there is a new manager. I was going to try the Zumba classes with a friend. But when I saw the class room had no AC in the summer, I changed my mind.
After seeing the reviews, I see nothing has changed in over 15 years!
Maybe corporate needs to spend a month there and see why people complain.

We initially had a great experience at LA Fitness after signing up for personal training. Our trainer was fantastic, and we were seeing solid results. Unfortunately, the trainer left for another opportunity, and that’s where everything fell apart.

We specifically requested a new trainer available at 6am, which is the only time that works with our schedule. We were told this wouldn’t be a problem. However, after speaking with five different trainers, none of them were available before 8am.

Given the lack of follow-through and inability to accommodate our agreed-upon training time, we made the decision to cancel. We then asked for a reimbursement for the unused training sessions. After calling multiple times and being passed around, we were told to contact the main office. The main office ultimately denied the refund, stating it didn't meet their criteria—even though they were the ones who failed to provide a trainer at the time we were originally promised.

It’s extremely frustrating to be stuck paying for unused training sessions simply because LA Fitness could not deliver on what they said they could.

I would not recommend signing up for personal training at LA Fitness. If your trainer leaves, you’re on your own—and your money is gone.

I just came to this LA Fitness to see what the membership is like. So I can get out of where I'm at now of this other gym Wyomissing Fitness. it Overrun by high school kids don't do nothing, just be on their phones. I walked in and there's no staff.One guy came, but he was more worried about who's on the phone I walked out and he came out and wanted me to come back. Don't waste your time here.

I have been working with Kyle for personal training for double sessions 2-3 times a week for over a month now. He is extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of fitness including nutrition. He tailors workouts to your physical needs and accommodations while working towards your short and long term goals. He is able to motivate and encourage you while pushing you just outside your comfort zone. He is definitely an asset to LA Fitness.

Laf wyomissing - This place has definitely gone down hill since COVID. I didn't realize how bad it was until I visited a different LAF. Locker rooms are always filthy, courts are poorly maintained, staff are always sitting around on their phones. The manager has been very unresponsive.

The gym itself is great! The personal training is a scam, and the gym found a legal way to steal. Haven't met with the trainer in months (six month contract, and hasn't contacted to schedule). Yet they are still taking the money, when I attempted to cancel there is only one person with a limited amount of hours that can do it. The few times I met with the trainer it was a joke. Felt like I just went Grocery shopping with my grand mom, about the level of workout it was. It's 100% a scam, and anyone on here saying anything different is friends with the individuals. It's frustrating because I don't have the extra money but thought if it improves my health it's worth it, but it did NOTHING. And now they don't even meet with me but still taking my money, how am I paying for something I'm not receiving (theft). They essentially went against their contract by not providing the service. It's disgusting what they do.

I’ve been going to L.A. Fitness for almost two months now and working with a trainer named Kyle. The gym has a lot of good equipment, plus a sauna and a pool, which is a nice bonus. I’ve been seeing solid improvements since I started, and having a coach definitely helps if you’re trying to stay consistent and see results faster. Kyle’s been great—motivating and very knowledgeable. The place is clean, has everything I need, and it’s been a good experience overall.

I started working out at LA Fitness at the end of February 2025 under the guidance of my exceptional trainer, Kyle. I felt instantly comfortable with Kyle. 10/10 would recommend my trainer Kyle. I have worked with a few trainers but I decided Kyle was the best fit for me an my goals. As somebody who's biggest struggle is consistency having someone pushing me and mutually invested in my progress has made a huge difference. I always wanted to start going to the gym, but I had no idea where to begin, so I started looking for gyms with personal trainers. At LA Fitness, they assigned me to Kyle, who from day one made everything less intimidating and guided me through the workouts. This gym has improved a lot over time, both in its equipment and overall maintenance. The staff does their best to keep the place clean, which is something I value a lot. You can see that they are making an effort to offer a better experience every day.

However, the downside is some of the people that go there. Unfortunately, some users are filthy—leaving sweat on machines, not picking up weights, or simply not respecting basic hygiene rules. This can make the experience a bit unpleasant at times, but it’s important to note that the gym itself is not to blame. The staff is constantly cleaning and trying to maintain order, but there’s only so much they can do when certain people don’t cooperate.

Despite that, the gym is a good place to work out, and if you choose the right times, you can have a great session without any issues. Appreciate the improvements and the staff’s dedication to keeping the space as clean and functional as possible.

Went to this LA Fitness for around 2.5 Years. In my first year I would have given it 5 stars. There were great people and the staff would regularly be seen interacting with members, working out or keeping the place clean. It was a great environment and always had a good workout. Where it took a downturn was after the remodel. Seems like anyone could bring as many friends as they wanted so the place was always packed. This lead to machines and other equipment constantly being full. Staff turnover seemed pretty regular and staff cared more about sitting on their phones than doing anything else. And the bathrooms constantly smelled like stale urine. Was more than happy when I was finally able to cancel my membership.

This gym is filthy. They never have working paper towel machines in the bathrooms or hand soap. They used to have paper towel dispensers on the gym floor which was convenient for wiping down machines, cleaning up water bottle spills, and sweat after classes, for some reason they removed all of them from the gym floor.

I was working out on a machine and the cleaning staff was mopping the section I was working out in (no spills, just mopping to clean) and a young lady working out next to me slipped and hit her knee on a near by machine; there is a time and place to clean/mop, but not when the gym floor is crowded, common sense.

There is no AC in the exercise room for months and months, the entire summer NO AC, they put in a portable unit after multiple complaints to corporate and then none of the employees would empty the water tank and the unit won't provide cooling. They said the rooftop HVAC units need replace & were to be done in June but nothing has been done. They have no cleaning staff on the weekends and there is rarely toilet paper, hand soap, or paper towels in the ladies locker rooms on the weekends. As a paying gym member I have emptied the AC water tank personally numerous times, I have complained about the lack of toilet paper and got rolls from the supply closet and replaced the toilet paper in the ladies room stalls myself multiple times just sitting the roll out so people don't have to drip dry. They do not do a "closing routine" where they replace soap, paper towels & toilet paper at a minimum, those things are dependent on cleaning staff & they don't clean on the weekends, soap & toilet paper have been empty both Sat & then the same stalls & sinks again on Sunday, no toilet paper & same toilets clogged & no one cares. The instructors and members have complained repeatedly. No one there ever appears to be busy that they couldn't replace toilet paper. It's a shame, because the fitness instructors are SO GOOD and the classes are fabulous & the gym itself is very nice if it was just cleaned and had air conditioning.

Missing tiles in showers, defective showerheads, lockers that have been broken for years. Not enough cleaning staff. The ones they get are overworked. Interaction skills of dealing with customers need improvement. Club members are expecting to be spoken to as guests, not inmates in a jail or army recruits. Valentines evening a staff member was videoing guests changing in the locker room without their permission.
The late night members are still waiting for the club to return to pre-covid hours.
We joined with the promise of the club being open until 12 Mon-Thursday and 10 Fridays. They close the club 2 hours early every night, yet they charge members the same money. They expect us to believe we will all catch Covid if they are open regular hours. How about a refund to the members for the lack of availability of the facilities then ?

I agree with it being dirty relative to other gyms but I think the reason it gets a lot worst reputation is the facilities ocker rooms are outdated and in some cases falling apart. The staff in general is good but occasionally it can be hit or miss since the staff that close can be rude since they want to leave when the gym closes. I left the gym at 940pm and forgot my keys and the front desk refused to open the door to me saying they close the doors at 930pm because they do not get paid after 10pm. I just wanted my keys. Otherwise the staff in the morning can be good. In many cases they open earlier than 5am because some staff make a great effort to ensure the facilities are available when they should. I have been to over 20 gyms considering I have lived in 3 other states and have visited various chains (Lifetime fitness, 24 hour, planet fitness, crunch, anytime, several university gyms, etc) so believe there are better gyms out there but you usually go to what is closer to you, which is why I go. I guess the only pro is the sauna there gets hotter Tham most gyms. Everything else is average at best.

General manager Ricky barged into my discussion at the end of my personal trainer session. My personal trainer was wonderful, but this was clearly a very difficult thing for me. He saw that weakness as an opportunity to come in for a hard sell. Started off talking about social anxiety in his own life, and tried to use mental health as approach point for a hard sell. After telling him no 7 times, I said out loud "I have told you no 7 times and you are still talking"... and he kept going! I had to walk out. I find it gross to use someon's mental health this way. I am canceling my membership and going elsewhere.

The entire place needs cleaned the men’s locker room and showers are gross mold on shower curtains also I walked from the shower to the locker I was using and my feet were covered in floor dirt I was at this gym at 8:30am I would like to think that the floor would not be that dirty first thing in the morning

Honest review- been going for years
New equipment is nice. Maintenance is needed on several peices of equipment. Seems to be ignored or just not checked. Turf field was cool at first. Feels like it's a waste of space now. It does seem like people use it and those who do, like it.
The gym etiquette is horrible as of 2020. The "sign up and bring all your friends free" deal ruined the vibe. People leave weights on machines and put dumbbells wherever. My wife actually rarely comes because of this.
Bathrooms need WORK. Every other dispenser is empty. Papertowls jammed or empty.
Staff is often seen sitting at front desk on phones. There used to be people cleaning all day and putting weights back where they belong.
A gym of this quality needs management and staff to support. Would be 5 star if these minor things were fixed

Nice size facility, generally clean.

Management doesn't get back to you about issues though, staff locks the door half an hour before closing, and I've seen issues with disability accommodations.

If you're looking for a gym membership to go to multiple venues (like me), it's a decent option, but I question it's value. Not many gyms have pools though, which is why we chose this.

Rundown facility. Men lockers are not clean, and showers are totally disgusting. They have mold inside and outside; walls, floor, curtains..... Soap dispensers are frequently totally empty for days!!!! Tash and abandoned pieces of clothes remain in the showers section like forever.

The facilities are awesome, very well equipped, but unfortunately there is not order, people never clean up machines after they use them, dumbells are everywhere, the wet zones are very dirty tile is nasty, and the most stupid people are getting in the sauna fully clothes, I can't understand why the staff never does anything about this issues

As a SENIOR Lady, I NEED & LOVE the hot tub for my muscles, especially following my four day WORKING weekends

Steve in Janitorial rocks! He was there this morning, organizing weights, putting equipment back, cleaning, and just doing a great job going above and beyond to keep our gym top notch. If you see him, show him some appreciation and thank him for all he’s doing. Our gym is newly renovated, let’s take care of it and help him out a little by putting weights and equipment back where they belong and cleaning up after yourself. Maybe when there is heat in the kidsclub I can upgrade my review from 2 stars. Warning moms and dads the kids club is about 60deg. Can't come in because it's too cold even after they said HVAC fixed the problem.

Very helpful staff. General manager was readily available to assist us with a discrepancy between local and corporate policies and made the inconvenience seem like a nonissue. Sadly he will be leaving in the next 2-4 months. Hope they find someone as professional as him.
