This is my accurate and honest experience I had with Level One Boxing and fitness.
I walked in to try out boxing, because there are not many places where you can learn it in Mechanicsburg especially, and I wanted to give it a shot. When I arrived, I was greeted by the owner. Maybe he was busy or stressed out, but he only asked me my name, and didn’t ask any further questions, nor welcome me in a nice way. I am not a sensitive person, but if I was running a business and wanted to attract new people to the sport, I would try to put in a bit more effort than just asking my name and nothing else. I filled out the form, and he brought me aside to another one of their presumed coaches or staff. He told me I would be going to a section of the area to practice footwork, and he would decide after that depending on how it went and how fast we learned.
Once again, didn’t welcome me, didn’t ask me any questions or even try to get to know me or anything, which was a bit odd, but maybe he had an off day. But that was not the main issue here.
The coach he told me to learn from, was without exaggeration, the most unenthused, disinterested, and standoffish person I had the displeasure of working with in any new experience I ever wanted to try out. He didn’t ask me or the other guy's name, he mumbled and talked so audibly low, I could barely hear anything he was saying, and it felt extremely weird and unprofessional. He didn’t really seem at all like he wanted to be there, and his energy was off and I don’t know why this was the person they put with if you are new. It really seemed like he could care less and was just waiting to be done with it. His instructions were unclear, didn’t even barely correct what we were doing, and it honestly was shockingly bad, I had to keep from laughing. It literally felt like they dragged someone from off the street to “train” us, it was that bad. I gave it a shot, after an hour, and I had enough. As we were doing the drills, he seemed irritated that I didn’t understand it clearly, after barely understanding what he said because he talked so low, and gave instructions to the other person with me, which was across the ring. After he started dosing off and seemed like he couldn’t care less, I had enough. We were an hour in, and after everyone else went for water, he didn’t even offer us or tell us if we wanted water, we could go take a sip real quick. After all that, I walked out, and was left very disappointed. The owner seemed like a nice enough guy and was maybe stressed out, so ill give him the benefit of the doubt, and maybe I had my expectations too high, but the “training” for new members and with this specific coach was probably the worst experience I ever had, and I have a background in other martial arts and never was treated like that. Wouldn’t recommend it at all!
Side Note: Their website also says free session if you email them but still was forced to pay $20! So much for free!

My buddy told me how horrible his experience was here, and I just came here to leave a 1 star. Doesn't seem like good things are going on here, and seems like a lot of bad stuff going on!

Friendly and welcoming environment for experienced fighters and beginners! My teenage son and I have been coming since November and couldn’t be happier with our progress and the way we’ve fit into the Level 1 family!

I can’t say enough good things about this boxing gym. What sets it apart is the incredible care and consistency of the coaches. They’re not just showing up—they’re present, engaged, and genuinely invested in everyone’s growth, no matter your skill level. This gym is different. The coaches actually care—they show up every day, push you, and make sure you level up. The consistency, the structure, the energy… it’s unmatched. If you’re serious about boxing, this is the place to be. No egos, just real work and real results.
