I had just moved to the city and was exploring local gyms when I reached out to MADabolic. I spoke with the manager, Liz, who told me I could come in for a one-week trial. Communication was a bit slow while trying to schedule, but she was great and helpful over the phone and text.

When I showed up at the gym, I was met by a trainer named Lexie (spelling might be off), who greeted me with one of the rudest attitudes I’ve ever experienced. She abruptly tossed some paperwork at me and told me there’s no such thing as a one-week trial, instead, I’d need to pay $5 for a 5-day trial. I showed her the messages from Liz, and she responded, “I don’t who told you that and why, it’ll be $5.” Just hostile tone and disgusting behavior.

I don’t care about the $5 or the trial info. What shocked me was the poor attitude. I started filling out the paperwork, but every time she spoke, her tone and attitude made me extremely uncomfortable. I finally just left the paperwork, and walked out.

My wife and I lived in Pittsburgh for a year and *absolutely loved* MADabolic. Training there was a huge highlight of our time in Pittsburgh. Here's more detail about what we loved:

- The workouts are excellent and efficient. We just show up, watch instructors demonstrate (with sufficient nuance and detail) each exercise, then work. It's an intense and productive hour, we always leave dripping sweat and made noticeable gains quite quickly.
- The instructors are friendly, engaged, and give good feedback. My squat and hinge motions got significantly better due to instructor feedback, and I learned way more than I would with just video instruction. I also learned some boxing basics. *Every* instructor learned our names immediately, and made an effort to have it feel like a real community rather than a transactional workout.
- My wife and I had significantly different prior experience with exercise, but we could take the same class next to each other (just using different weights and getting different feedback).
- It was just a really great vibe. We several times/week and were always excited to go. We both got so much stronger throughout the program. We loved interacting with the instructors.

We wound up checking it out randomly because Jesse happened to be recruiting in the lobby of our apartment building, and we're *really* glad we did!

I’ve been to Orange Theory, F45, Mecka, CrossFit, etc but nothing compares to MADabolic. The workouts are not only fun, but different and challenging, and I actually see results. I've been coming here for almost a year and I am hooked on the workouts. I already had a regular gym routine but was looking to incorporate some new workouts into my routine and I'm so glad I did. As someone who thought they knew what they were doing, I was humbled from the first workout.

They are constantly changing up the workouts to keep them challenging while also motivating to keep coming back and pushing myself through each workout.

All of the trainers are incredibly friendly and always willing to come over and give me pointers about a lift if I'm unsure about the correct form or what specific muscles it's targeting.

They also do monthly social events outside of the gym such as baseball games or happy hours which has been a great way to make some awesome friends in a relaxed setting.

I am so glad I started going to this gym and plan to continue my membership for years.

I highly recommend this gym! MADabolic in the Strip is hands down the best strength training gym in the Pittsburgh Area. Jesse, the owner of this location creates an atmosphere of community and support. With that, the entire staff help to encourage every client to be their best self! I’ve started MADabolic about a month ago. It’s been a great switch from my regular gym routine. The coaches are all great and provide you with detailed corrections on your form. Everybody has been so welcoming!

i can confirm! two years later and it’s still been awesome for my fitness journey! recovering from a ton of cardio to strength training has helped me in so many ways, even through my physical therapy when i had multiple injuries from outside the gym. can’t say enough good things!

I have been attending this gym for about a month now and let me tell you, it has changed my life!! I recently graduated from college and am a retired collegiate athlete so transitioning to working out on my own has been a bit of a struggle. I had tried at-home workouts and attending Planet Fitness but they both were unsuccessful at fulfilling my fitness and health goals. Once I discovered Madabolic, it was crystal clear that this was the type of environment I had been searching for. Not only are the workouts killer and I can feel a physical improvement already (only 1 month in!), but the people here are so genuine and approachable, I instantly felt welcomed and supported. MADabolic is a unique workout, it is different than any boutique fitness in the city! I definitely feel my strongest when I am here. First and foremost I love the welcoming and inclusive environment. It's the first thing you notice when you walk in the door and are greeted.... usually by name, which is such a nice personal touch! Next, the trainers are simply the best. Not only are they great at what they do but they are encouraging and supportive in helping you with your goals whatever those may be for you! And then when you hit and/or exceed those goals they celebrate so hard with you as do your fellow gym goers which is such a great feeling! I really love the new social changes like quarterly events such as hikes or happy hours, dj Saturdays (I mean how many other gyms can say they have a trainer/dj Kate?! Lol). You don't see those kind of things at other gyms...or at least I haven't. Also the addition to clinics is nice. Then there are the workouts!!! I mean I am 300 classes in and I can honestly say not one workout has ever been the same and I LOVE that. You just cannot get bored!

MADabolic has completely changed the way I look at fitness and health overall. As a woman, I was always told that working out was essential to being thin and attractive. That being said, I was always focused on calorie deficits and a lot of cardio. Even when I may have “looked” my best, I felt horrible and quickly realized that the routine I had was not only unhealthy, but also made me unhappy. This place has me hooked. I’ve been going to MAD for a year and a half and look forward to every class. I love MAD because the workouts are well-thought through and challenging, and every class feels different. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I have tried plenty of different gyms and workouts and none of them have been able to mix strength training with cardio efforts like MADabolic. The varying workout types and exercises they rotate make sure that each class is challenging and allows you to build on your previous strengths and weaknesses. I always feel very supported during classes and the trainers and staff are some of the most supportive and welcoming people I have met. My goal was to become stronger, and I have never felt stronger that I do after starting these workouts. I recommend this to all of my friends whenever we are talking about working out!

MADabolic has been an absolute gem since I've joined.

Trainers - They are FANTASTIC. They get to know you and your goals, are very approachable, and help you individually ensure you've got the knowledge to safely get after your goals. You see all of them taking classes too, so you know they practice what they preach.

Gym - Exactly what you need and nothing more. There's a good variety in equipment and weights so regardless of your skill or training level there's a way for the workout to work for you. From anaerobic to momentum to durability-themed workouts, you're sure to get a full body workout if you're coming in 4x per week.

Value - I've tried box gyms, Crossfit, Orangetheory, and just about everything in between. If you're looking for strength-based cardio that will help you age athletically and not put you at risk for injury, it's well worth the $198/month UNLIMITED workout package.

I'll be coming back to get MAD with these folks for the forseeable future.

I genuinely cannot say enough amazing things about MAD… After obtaining a graduate degree in exercise physiology, I have been extremely critical of fitness studios and programming. MAD has it all. MAD incorporates a well developed *and research based* training program, injury prevention, smart & sustainable nutrition guidance… all while cultivating an incredibly supportive and positive environment. (I promise every trainer will know your name by the end of your first class.) MAD makes you feel STRONG. From experience, I have had a hard time navigating the black hole of fitness fads and diet culture trying to sort through the ones that do it right. MAD has truly been a light at the end of the tunnel. *On top of it all, MAD has helped me drop my marathon pace from ~9:30min/mile to ~7:45min/mile!!!*

The team at MAD has helped me kick my workout routine into gear, with instruction and tips throughout the class I never feel that I am left to figure out form on my own, the timely corrections throughout the workout keep me on point and working out safe. I have been going to MADabolic for about 6 months and recently completed my 50th class and I am so glad this studio is in my life! The class structure really is unmatched in the fitness industry not to mention everything the Brand stands for is very healthy and realistic, which I appreciate; those are key reasons for my commitment to this studio. The way the instructors pay close attention to everyone’s form has been personally helpful for me. I also can notice progress/improvement in my strength and agility since I started out. Such an amazing gym. A perfect balance of exciting and challenging. Let me just say, I hate the strip district. Loathe it. But MADabolic is worth making the trip out there for. The biggest issue is trying to find parking. You cannot be late to class and so it is imperative that you account for the time searching for a parking spot and making the walk to the facility as part of your commute.
But back to the gym.. so many things to be excited about. It's organized, clean, challenging, varied, and the coaches are very attentive. If you truly care about hitting fitness goals, MADabolic does not disappoint! With class times running from morning, at midday, through the evening, there's a time that will work for anybody. I think it is also important to note that the showers are excellent. They're clean, private, spacious, and even equipped with shower essentials!
If you're on the fence about trying MADabolic, make the jump. You won't regret it.

I tried MADabolic almost a year ago now and became instantly hooked. The classes have pushed and motivated me more than I ever could at a regular gym. I ended up recruiting serval other friends to join me and we continue to take classes serval times a week. Every class is different so it never gets boring. The trainers there are great. They are extremely helpful and very personable. Some do have better playlist than others though (Chads the goat). I never saw myself becoming a member at these types of places but now I can’t see myself without it. Come check them out! I promise you’ll enjoy it.

I started going to MaDabolic in January and have attended over 100 classes. I previously did power lifting with some cardio mixed in, but I gave up the barbell after joining MaDabolic. I appreciate the warm up before every class (something I probably did too little of on my own), and it's awesome not having to program my own workouts anymore which was so time consuming. Instead I just walk in and see what is on the board for the day and I trust and believe in the program so I am confident I'm optimizing my training at every class. The instructors are all great people and very motivating. I also appreciate that they still point out things you can do better even after so many classes. I also really enjoy the other members in the class - MaDabolic seems to attract a wide range of people with unique backgrounds and experiences. If you are new to group fitness, MaDabolic is a great choice as its very easy to jump right in and not be intimidated. If you're an experienced athlete, the highest tier (black) will test your strength and cardio fitness every workout. 💪

I've loved my time at MADabolic so far! I had wanted to get back into the gym for years, but was intimidated from my last "boot camp" experience. I purchased a founding membership to MADabolic and have been to a little over a dozen classes since joining this gym. Out of all the classes I’ve taken, no two classes were the same. My favorite thing about MADabolic is how much variety you get in each workout. Some days focus on strength, others durability, anaerobic, etc. They also offer multiple time slots a day conducive to my work schedule, which tends to change at the drop of a hat. It’s very easy to register for classes on your mobile device; this is done in an app that also tracks your activity and enables the team to send you incentives via email which contributes to my overall motivation for the program. The MADabolic training program has worked incredibly well for me so far. I look and feel more physically toned and have also experienced an overall increase in stamina, so I feel stronger and happier which was always my goal. Finally, the staff is what makes this place. The trainers look like they came out of a NFL combine; there is something to be said about taking instruction from people who lead by example. You can tell the GM and Owner at this establishment takes pride in the location and product. What a great addition to have in the Strip!

I typically go to more cardio-focused fitness studios or yoga, but I love the classes at MADabolic because they incorporate weights/strength-training and some cardio. The workouts vary every time I go so it never feels boring, and the instructors are all super helpful and accommodating. Definitely recommend!
