MET is definitely the best ballet studio in the area. Both my girls started their creative movement class since they were 4. Now, they are at their intermediate levels. Absolutely love their ballet training, fun but at the same time rigorous. Once a week jazz, character, contemporary and strength classes also very nice. The academy offers tons of performance opportunities, including Nutcracker at academy of music. My elder one also joined competition. Definitely the best ballet studio in the area.

I cannot recommend Metropolitan Ballet highly enough. When we first moved to the area, I was determined to find a school with a strong faculty that emphasized proper technique and serious training. My daughter began with Creative Movement and right from the start, I was impressed with how the teachers balanced discipline with fun. After a year, my son expressed interest in dance and was accepted into Metropolitan's outstanding Boy’s Scholarship program. As any parent of a boy in dance knows, it can be challenging for boys to stick with it, especially when they're often the only male student in class. Metropolitan stands out by offering a supportive environment with both coed classes and classes specifically designed for boys, taught by the talented Daniel Mayo.
As our children have progressed through the levels, they’ve had numerous opportunities to perform in wonderful school shows and even in Philadelphia Ballet’s The Nutcracker. The opportunities for growth and performance at Metropolitan are unparalleled.
A huge part of what makes Metropolitan Ballet exceptional is its fearless founder and director, Lisa Collins. We have experienced first hand her care for the students and her support of their success - sometimes that's with an arm around the shoulder and sometimes that's by pushing them to reach their full potential.
Metropolitan Ballet works to build connections amongst families. The creation of a parent committee and the recent potluck gathering were wonderful ways to bring families together and create community.
I recently was offered a job out of state and Metropolitan was a significant factor in choosing to remain in PA and commute, rather than moving closer to the job. Schools like this are rare, and I truly hope my children continue their dance journey here for years to come. If you’re looking for a school that offers top-tier training, a caring environment, and a sense of community, Metropolitan Ballet is the place to be.

It's hard not to fall in love with this school and its staff! My child has wonderful memories of her time with the Met. The staff is incredibly kind, encouraging, and nurturing. Ms. Collins is simply the best—flexible, caring, and always willing to meet you halfway.
The Summer Intensive program is hands down epic. Ms. Collins invites celebrity guests to help develop new skills and boost the girls' interest in ballet! After a poor experience with a gymnastics club, I was pleasantly surprised by Ms. Collins' effort to keep all school members up to date. Show dates and requirements are posted in a timely manner, and goals for the season are discussed with both parents and kids. There are open days for parents to observe practice and get feedback from instructors.
You don't have to worry about where to buy leotards, tights, and pointe shoes. The school has well-established connections with local businesses! I would give the Met 10 stars if it were an option!

My daughters have been coming to Met for lessons since they were 3 years old. All of the instructors are incredible; they can teach (and get results!) from children of any age, with just the right balance of care and discipline (and patience!) each child needs. My girls are confident and strong, and love going to their lessons and taking part in performances. They have had amazing opportunities, and are well-equipped to do any type of dance they may choose in the future because of their classical ballet training (although they can’t imagine dancing anywhere but Met!) I’m so glad we are lucky enough to have such a top-flight ballet school and company right in Jenkintown!

Being a part of Metropolitan Ballet Academy has been such a blessing. I have studied at MET for seven years, since age 9. MET has incredible instructors, choreographers, and a family-like environment. This next year our family is moving, so I will be training at Orlando Ballet School in their Academy program. This wouldn’t be possible without the preparation and training I received at MET. MET has helped me with my technique and my performance quality; both are vital for a career in dance. The instructors at MET do their jobs well. Their classes are vigorous and they take time to teach the small details that make ballet so difficult. Along with Ballet, MET students get other opportunities to work in modern and contemporary pieces. I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of such a wonderful school, that has prepared me for new and wonderful opportunities.

The Metropolitan Ballet Academy is a top notch school. My daughters had the opportunity of auditioning at the studio and saw the quality of the dancers first hand. Lisa Collins and the Metropolitan staff were very friendly and helpful with questions. It is obvious that they care about each student while holding them to the highest of standards. If you are serious about learning ballet I recommend this school.

Incredible studio, provided me with amazing direction from Ms. Collins and introduced me to the most supportive community I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. If I could go back and redo my time there I would without a doubt. The perfect balance of professionalism and support while still keeping dance fun.

Ms. Collins has made my 9 years at Metropolitan Ballet Academy a wonderful experience that has made me into a better person, not just a better dancer. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Ms. Collins and the school she runs.

It isn't magic that happens at Metropolitan Ballet Academy, but one might think so after watching one of their several performances during the academic year. My favorite performance is the Family Concert Series performed every November by children of all ages. The energy and talent is top-notch. I also love attending Variations/Collaborations in April. The Company dancers perform three contemporary pieces choreographed by cutting-edge, visiting choreographers. The pieces are then accompanied with live music - the effect is breath-taking. The opportunities for the students to perform is plentiful. The school is an art school, focusing on the art of classical ballet - not on the art of competition and I really appreciate that. Met students are trained in classical ballet by dedicated, experienced and professional educators. Combine these amazing educators with eager, enthusiastic students and devoted parents and there is the magic. The caring, age appropriate environment that Met provides and the ability of each educator to see and bring out the potential and uniqueness of each and every dancer is apparent and makes the end of the year showcases a triumphant success! Met sets the bar high. Come see for yourself and attend a show. My daughter has been a student for six years and we are thrilled to have Lisa Collins' classical ballet academy right in our back yard. It is truly a gem.

Seems prejudice against black students. Child has been there since age of 3 and is a far better dancer than most but is constantly overlooked due to her race. Mrs.collins only helps and shapes her favorites and mostly white students. So disappointed and sad

Metropolitan Ballet Academy offers unparalleled classical--and modern ballet instruction for kids. Their boys program is amazing, and as an adult student myself, I have benefited as much as my girls have from Met's amazing teachers. The environment is more positive and collaborative than any other dance environment we have ever been part of. The parents and dancers truly support each other with generosity, wisdom, and kindness and the teachers know how to help the kids dance to their full potential in an age appropriate way that's FUN (even for the super little kids) without burning them out. My girls started at Met when they were 8 and 6 and they loved how the classes were structured but still so much fun. My kids learned more at Met in their first summer intensive than they had from an entire year at our previous schools, and they look forward to going to ballet every day. I never have to bug them to go to class or practice at home, whereas at past schools I had to drag them. This is a safe, healthy, supportive, and top quality dance environment unlike none other. Highly recommend it!
