These people have a sweet place located in a nice historical neighborhood. Everyone was very nice. The atmosphere was more than welcoming. Kudos to Todd for showing me around. They selflessly hosted a Murph and let non members come and compete. Hope to come back and do better next year.

I was in Pitt on business and dropped in to CF Mindfire for an early morning WOD. Todd and Nathan run a top notch box! Space is well laid out, equipment is in great shape, and the people were awesome! The culture in this gym is great for anyone! Would highly recommend for anyone in the Sewickly area as a home box, and for those traveling and staying near the airport, go get some movement in with these guys! You wonβt regret it!

I was really nervous about CrossFit but this community is really supportive. Coaches are good: push you and motivate and always help with form. Nice facility with all equipment. Look forward to working out at 5 am so it must be good...

Great community and programming, could use some improvements to the facility.
Update: The owners have responded and upgrades are in process. Looks like MindFire will continue to be the best box in town for the foreseeable future!

Been doing crossfit and coming here for 2 years. Good programming, great group of people to workout with. Very open to scaling (making the workout work for you) for injury or ability. No egos here.

Amazing CrossFit gym with really hardworking coaches and owners. Todd was such a breath of fresh air and helped a lot the whole week I was there. My best drop in gym experience ever and I drop In all over USA. If you are in town, go visit them for at least one workout. Todd, the sandwich was amazing man and seeing you workout made me me feel more older. God bless you all and give you all more success.

What a great box. Did a drop in while I was on a work trip. The owner and staff was super nice, friendly and helpful. The facility had all good equipment, organized, and clean. I had a great workout and would definitely go back if I am ever in the area again.

My wife and I dropped in at CF Mindfire for three workouts when we were in town visiting family. The best thing I can think of to summarize our impression is that we would join this gym if we lived in the area. The coaches are competent and friendly, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the workouts were well-programmed and challenging. We are experienced crossfitters and drop in to a lot of gyms during our travels for work and vacation. CF Mindfire is definitely on our short list of favorites.

I love this gym. The coaches are knowledgeable, encouraging, friendly, and also excel at what they're coaching in all sorts of different ways. The community is top-notch, and I've made a cozy little crew of gym friends since joining about 9 months ago. The locker rooms are clean and comfortable, and there are showers! Equipment is all in great condition despite heavy use. The workouts are also consistently the most challenging I've encountered thus far in my 3 year crossfit adventure - which is a really good thing.
I compare any box I visit to my very first box in DC (which is obviously my favorite one), and MindFire comes pretty dang close. They say you can never go home again, but I've made a new home here. See you guys tomorrow (or rather Thursday, tomorrow's my rest day βΊοΈ)

Bait and Switch technique.
Iβm a former athlete. In the past few years Iβve gotten out of optimal shape.
I responded to an advertisement of theirs on Facebook for a FREE 6 week challenge. I was given a time to arrive for a tour. Upon arrival I was βinterviewedβ and given a tour.
I was then told that I wasnβt a good fit for the free challenge but that I was a great fit for membership!
From $0 - $150 in 60 minutes!
UPDATE:
In response to the ownerβs comment:
Iβm in my mid-40s, Iβm 5β4β and 155lbs. I wear a size 10-12. I used to wear a 4-6. I promise you, Iβm by no means βtoo fitβ or βtoo young.β

I was completely new to Crossfit before I started with the 6 week Spark program. This review will cover the Spark program as well as they gym itself and is a long post. I hope you find it helpful in making a decision about the Spark Program and Crossfit Mindfire.
The program consisted of 3 times per week of workouts focusing on a combination of strength, aerobic activity, flexibility, and agility. Excellent pre-workout education including 1:1 time to make sure that the movements are being done correctly and safely. The program also consists of educational pieces and tracking assignments outside of class with each week building on the previous. Our program was a weekly focus on 1) Sleep, 2) Drink, 3) Eat, 4) Recover, 5) Cravings, 6) Moving Forward. An email was sent with the education and tracking for the week. A tracking sheet was provided at the start of the program as well. We were encouraged to track ourselves on a Spark Program Board- this was optional. I found it helpful for my accountability when I was making day-to-day decisions outside of the gym.
The energy of the staff is fantastic. They are welcoming of all fitness levels and have no problems helping students scale up or scale down the workout based on the individuals goals, skill level, and athletic ability. They are not afraid to give feedback, and do so in a supportive and encouraging manner. They really want to get to know the individuals goals so they can help the student succeed on the student's own specific goals- this is not a cookie cutter program! I have a history of injuries including surgeries, and also dietary limitations- the staff were fantastic in working these details into the program so that I got the most out of it.
The community of members is also FANTASTIC. So supportive, excited, and encouraging!
The facility is clean and HUGE. Separate Mens/Womens Bathrooms, showers, towels are all there to help members feel clean after their hard work. The location is fantastic, with easy on-street parking on a quiet street (really important when having to run as part of the workout). Spark classes were separate from the regular daily classes in the evenings allowing us to focus on our specific program and workouts.
My biggest negative comment is that conversations can be difficult to hear. I had to think long and hard about a negative. The positive is the space is huge. The negative; the space is so big, and the sound bounces around in such a way, that sometimes you can't hear what the coaches or members are saying unless they sorta yell it.
The cost for the Spark Program is a bargain for what you get. The membership options are flexible, and are also well within what other comparable gyms provide. Crossfit Mindfire is a Crossfit affiliate which was important in my decision to join there and, for me, added value to the gym cost. If I was military, first responder, or teacher I would get a discount. Groupon discounts were available during the time I was doing the Spark Program which was also a big bonus!
All in all, it is a 5 star place in my book!

I'm a runner by background but decided to try crossfit to work on strengthening my whole body at the suggestion of a friend. I was never really a gym kind of person, but I can say that from the first time at CrossFit MindFire my perspective really changed. I have found the workouts that they have to be amazingly good for me both for strengh and cardio as well as, surprisingly to me, one of the highlights of my week. The staff is fantastic in helping me try to learn the new movements of the different exercises, and I can say that I've definitely grown during my time there. The gym is pristine and the overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive for me. I would highly recommend this particular gym for anyone, including a complete beginner like me!! I can't rate it highly enough!

Crossfit MindFire is amazing ^_^ I had been frequently injured and had difficulty consistently working out for years, and under the guidance of their expert and patient coaches I've been able to work out regularly and am much healthier. They're a great, fun, welcoming community, and do a great job of cheering everyone on and also tailoring workouts to all skill levels (it's definitely a "come as you are" party ^_^)
