My go-to yoga studio! The daily class schedule makes it easy to stay consistent, the heat is always comfortable (never unbearably hot,) but most of all, I come for the teacher, Simran.

I've been practicing for over 20 years and I am so inspired by the spirit, message and creative asana flow she brings to each and every class. She has a rare blend of expression that shares and invokes playfulness without sacrificing depth. I am supported in so many ways by her wisdom, work, and words. If I see her name on the schedule, I’ll be there.

Overall this is a great studio, but there are two things that make me wish I was still with my old studios in my previous city. One is that almost all of the power flow classes get to a point during like the meat of it, warrior series, where the instructor says to “flow through twice more on your own”. (It’s fine for the sun salutation that is easy to pick up on) I was like wut?? the first time this happened because, I was not aware I needed to memorize the choreography, I go there to be guided and kinda let my brain rest. If the flow is easy it’s ok, but sometimes the transitions are a little complicated and you gotta look around the room to remember what was next, because the instructors also aren’t usually also doing the moves. My second wish is that the power flow had more sections/variety. Doing the same warrior/vinyasa flow 3-4x on each side, so 6-8x times total, is a little boring.

I've been a regular student here since the very beginning and have always appreciated the sense of community and skilled, caring teachers. However, I'm really disappointed by the recent direction of the studio. Some of the most thoughtful and authentic instructors- whose classes I attended regularly- have left reportedly due to concerns about their contracts. It's very disheartening to see teachers who helped create such a warm, welcoming environment no longer part of the studio.

In addition, the studio heat is uncomfortably high (and, in my opinion, unsafely) which makes it feel more like a workout than a mindful, intentional practice.

I hope they reconsider their approach to both valuing and supporting teachers and class safety because it has the potential to be a great place to practice. Unfortunately, given these changes, I've decided to no longer take classes at this studio.

I came in on a warm sunny day and the door was wide open, which I thought was odd because it was obviously letting all the a/c out. So imagine my surprise when the instructor turned off the a/c for our class altogether because it was too loud. The thermostat read 85 degrees when class began and 89 degrees when it ended. The room is surrounded by windows with no curtains so it is essentially a little greenhouse, it was also incredibly bright to the point where I wanted my sunglasses. Not exactly relaxing.
Just be prepared that even if you don’t sign up for hot yoga, you might be getting it anyway. I’d consider coming back for an evening or wintertime class but was so uncomfortable with the temperature and brightness that I couldn’t enjoy my class at all. $6 for a mat rental also seems excessive though they waived it for my first class.

I immediately felt incredibly comfortable on my first visit to Monarch, which was also my first time trying Yin yoga practice. Looking forward to my next visit!

I’ve been going to Monarch since their pop up days. I was thrilled when they opened the Kensington studio and happy that they still do fun and unique pop ups, $5 flows and collaborations. I get bored easily with the same routine so to have so much variety and options to choose from works great for me! The staff and instructors are all so welcoming- it always impresses me how they remember all our names :)

My favorite studio! All their classes are great. Their studio is incredibly welcoming, always clean, and everyone who works there is very kind. Their involvement in offering $5 community classes, other community collaborations, or just offerings of general class timing is unmatched. So happy I joined!

I began taking yoga classes at various studios through ClassPass. Though it was nice, I kept finding myself back at Monarch Yoga. This studio is more than yoga, from pop-up shops, monthly challenges, to fitness collaborations with other studios. These classes are the one thing that gets me out of bed on my days off lol. You will not regret beginning or continuing your yoga journey here !

I've been a member at Monarch for a little over a year, and it's a fantastic studio! Even though I pay for the annual membership, I really appreciate that they continue to offer regular $5 classes and free meditation for everybody. My favorite perk of the membership is that I get 12 guest passes per year, it's so fun to bring a friend every month. There is a good variety of classes and instructors, and I enjoy mixing things up. As someone with an inconsistent work schedule, it's really nice that I can easily book same day via their app. The newer NoLibs studio is lovely, too!

I love this place! I’ve been practicing yoga for many years but didnt always connect to studios until I joined Monarch. I fell in love with the heated vinyasa classes which have become essential to my routine and wellbeing. I appreciate the variety of classes offered and enjoy all of the instructors very much. I recommend this place to anyone who will listen to me!

Monarch Yoga offers everything I look for in an instructor-led class. The variety of classes allows me to either challenge my muscles or focus on deep relaxation. I especially love the pop-up classes in different locations, which introduce me to new spaces and local businesses.

With early morning, lunchtime, and evening options, there’s always a time that fits my schedule. The value for the price is unbeatable. But the best part? The sense of inclusivity and celebration of individuality and togetherness.

Yes, the classes can get hot and packed, but after nearly 450 sessions, I’ve never once regretted showing up!

Call this a review or a love letter, but if you’re reading this—pull up and say hello. If you’ve never been before, tell them Dhruv sent you, and the first class is on me. ;) I’m totally JK… but try it and see if it works? Either way, peace, love, and joy to you all!

It's finally time for me to write a review about Monarch. I've been practicing at Monarch off and on for about 2 years now. I've always appreciated how frequently they have offered $5 flows, as it made yoga classes accessible for me. I finally landed a job that allowed me to purchase a monthly membership and it is worth every penny. In addition, whenever I've reached out about a question, they've been so responsive and understanding.

I've always felt welcomed and wanted when entering the space, and I can't say that for all yoga studios!! If you're looking for a yoga studio, look no further.

Monarch yoga has honestly changed my life! I have been going since only October 2024 and it has helped improve not only physical strength and flexibility but has also helped my mental health with their incredible instructors who help you have a calm, mindful practice. You can tell the instructors really care about their students and remembering your name and saying hi to you when you run into them in the studio.

Monarch offers so many different types of classes like non heated flows, yogalates, power flows, yin and more so they always have a class for how I am feeling any day. It is truly a special space!

The studios are both beautiful and clean. My favorite class is the classic 60 minute heated power flow where I am challenged with faster movement and holding some poses to test my strength and stability. I love that the flows are always different!

updating now that I've been coming here over a year - my boyfriend recently commented on my "transformation" over the last 1.5 yrs and I have to give a lot of credit to Monarch! I feel like my anxiety is a lot more manageable; I used to struggle a lot, especially with noise sensitivity, and nothing had substantially helped til regularly attending these classes.

Also, not to be vain, but I'm truly in the best shape I've ever been in despite how effortless it's been to incorporate these classes into my weekly routine. I've had intense workout routines in the past - HIIT, weight training, etc nearly every day - that were draining and still didn't help me meet my goals. Now I'm my leanest and strongest thanks to a balanced practice at this studio. Practicing a few days a week at Monarch has helped me physically to build muscles and improve my posture, and helped mentally so that it's a lot easier to make healthier choices outside of the studio.

My original review (below) is all still SO true - the community is kind and welcoming, the studio itself is clean and well-appointed, and the hot power flow classes are addictive.

The unlimited membership is a wildly good value, and booking classes on the app is so convenient - my work schedule can sometimes change without warning, but I love that I can just easily adjust my class reservations on the fly. Even if I'm not motivated to work out, I'm always motivated to spend time here.

Lastly, I love all the instructors and have really enjoyed learning their different styles. Each person gives me something unique to look forward to. Thank you for challenging me in new and exciting ways with the best playlists Jamie, thank you for teaching me how to release in a gorgeous curated atmosphere Brooke, thank you for helping me properly break a sweat and build my abs Rasheeda, thank you for my favorite lunch break and thoughtful words of wisdom Sasha, thank you for a kickass workout that flies by Epiphany, thank you for pushing me outside my comfort zone while maintaining my focus Jordan, thank you for inspiring me to be thoughtful with my movement by putting so much thought and joy into your flows Andy, thank you for helping me set intentions and move with purpose Sara, thank you for helping me practice balance in and outside the studio Michelle, thank you to everyone I've taken a class from truly you're all amazing.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Gorgeous and clean studio, very accepting environment, excellent and varied instructors - I've gotten in great shape and really enjoyed the mental health benefits as well.

I would not do yoga anywhere else. Best yoga I have ever had. Especially their hot yoga!

After leaving their hot yoga class, I always feel relaxed and well stretched.

They really do a great job having a classes that is for both the newer and more experienced practitioners. They even encourage you to skip some poses or do your own thing if you feel it. They really want to make you feel like you are getting the most out of your class.

At some other studios, I have felt that the instructors were catering mostly to the advanced students. They were holding advanced poses for a long time that I could not, and I left class feeling like I did not get that much out of it.

Monarch is an absolute godsend. They've made regular community practice possible, accessible, affordable, and SAFE during a time when most studios were shutting down. Their strong emphasis on community has allowed me to meet neighbors and socialize in a distanced/virtual way to mitigate the feeling of isolation so many of us are struggling with right now. I find the class prices reasonable (needs based options are always available too) and the instructors to be knowledgeable, warm, and inclusive. Monarch yoga is a truly special community. What started as a lifeline for my sanity during the pandemic, has grown into a community that I now can rely on as friends. The teachers here have created an atmosphere that invites anyone to truly show up as themselves, practice in the way that feels good, and fosters positive interactions with the other members of the yoga community and also the small business in our wider Fishtown/Kensington community. Monarch has opened me to so many relationships and given me a place to practice yoga in a way that feels authentic, positive, and safe. Highly recommend!

Monarch Yoga is one of the best small businesses in all of Philadelphia! The classes here are always impactful, and they have been the perfect thing to incorporate into the other activities I do. It does not matter what level of skill you have, you will enjoy class whether it is your first time trying yoga or if you're a seasoned vet.

While I have gained a lot from a physical & mental strength standpoint since becoming a member at Monarch, that's not the reason Monarch is unique. What sets this organization apart is the sense of community that they have cultivated throughout the Fishtown & Kensington neighborhoods at time when people needed it most. Since the pandemic began, We all have spent more time at home and naturally have been more isolated from the outside world. By welcoming everyone that walks through the door with open arms & by hosting classes at the coolest parks, studios, & distilleries in the area, Monarch has created an amazing environment that has brought people back together in a safe way.

A year later, yoga has become a critical part of my weekly routine and I have a network of neighborhood friends I love spending time with- all thanks to Monarch Yoga. I highly recommend Monarch to anyone interested in yoga as well as those who just want to be a part of an awesome neighborhood community!

Monarch Yoga is the place to be if you want to flow in a warm, fun and comfortable setting. Monarch is for all levels and incredibly welcoming. When I first moved to the area, Michelle and Tahsin were the first to welcome me. I was doing virtual yoga with Monarch before I even moved to the city and this really made the transition to a new home so much easier. There are so many fun events throughout the year to help you become more active in the community. I highly recommend whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned yogi!

Attending a class at Monarch Yoga is truly a special experience. Each and every instructor teaches in a way that comforts you but at the same time challenges you. I felt that my mind and body have been transformed after each class. It's refreshing to find a studio with such caring and fun teachers + students, and there are endless chances to bond with the amazing community at Monarch. Additionally, most classes are held outdoors and socially distanced, perfect during this time of the pandemic!
