I had the privilege of attending an Ashtanga weekend workshop with Harmony Slater at Mysore Yoga Philadelphia, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! Meghan and Sarah are exceptional hosts who truly understand what it means to build community. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel welcomed and at home.
Their attention to detail and care for their students really stood out! They were warm, accommodating, and went above and beyond by partnering with local businesses to provide coupons for attendees. It's clear they're invested not just in the yoga community, but in the broader Philadelphia community as well.
The atmosphere they've created at the shala is special, welcoming, supportive, and authentic. Everyone I met was kind and friendly, which speaks volumes about the culture Meghan and Sarah have cultivated.
I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

If you're the slightest bit curious about the Mysore method, you NEED to give Mysore Yoga Philadelphia a try, or two or three, or more! After my first visit I knew I was going to go back. I was struck by how welcoming, nonjudgmental, and easygoing the atmosphere is ... and of course, Meghan's teaching! Since that first morning, I have seen Meghan use her intuition as she guides each individual in this self-paced approach. If you've never tried Mysore, no worries! She walks you through it step-by-step and makes you feel at ease. Meghan pays attention to and challenges or assists when needed; but, at the same time gives the practitioner plenty of space to do their own thing. I'm so grateful I stumbled in!

I accidentally stumbled upon Mysore Yoga Philadelphia over a year ago. Was trying to find a yoga studio in Philadelphia after my pandemic-YouTube-yoga in living room situation. Definitely had no idea what ashtanga yoga was.
But, it met me where I was - and it turned out to be exactly what I needed!! I have deep gratitude for the space that Meghan creates and the guidance that she offers.
The shala (studio) always has a warm and inviting energy. Meghan’s instructions are clear and easy to understand. Questions are met with both engagement and knowledgeable answers. Physical adjustments are firm yet gentle with ongoing check-ins and consent.
Mysore Yoga Philadelphia provides structure in the discipline and tradition of Ashtanga, but also makes it accessible too. Meghan will work with you when it comes to modifications and figuring out sequence. Studio hours are not at the crack of dawn, to accommodate those who need later start times. You’ll never be pushed into practicing 6 days a week (per tradition) or shamed for not coming in. I was able to develop a consistent home practice while sporadically showing up to class when I could.
Mysore Yoga Philadelphia also offers yoga as more than just asana practice. Students are invited to stay for chanting and pranayama after Led Primary on Sundays. Meghan also brings in guest speakers and teachers for yoga, sutra philosophy, and breathing workshops.
The skill level here is varied, with both new and experienced students. I’d say that this particular yoga community in South Philadelphia is very welcoming and that most of us are approachable and don’t take ourselves too seriously. Worth giving a try if you’re at all curious!!

I was first introduced to Ashtanga yoga by stumbling across some Youtube videos of led primary series classes and was immediately drawn to the practice. After researching studios near me, I found Mysore Yoga Philadelphia. I started with a led class here (since I had previous yoga experience) and transitioned into the Mysore-style practice a few months later.
Ashtanga can be an intimidating practice, but Meghan and Sarah make you feel completely at home from the moment you step on the mat. Their adjustments are always offered with care, safety, and respect — and they feel amazing!
I highly recommend practicing here if you want to deepen your yoga journey at your own pace in a welcoming, supportive space.

Meghan and Aria have welcomed me into the practice of Ashtanga, and I've been so profoundly impacted by this practice. Even as a working mom with very little time, I felt like I have opened a new portal of yoga practice where I can challenge myself and listen to my soul at the same time. If you want to deepen your practice of yoga or thrive on a routine practice as much as I do (or hope to aspire), look no further. You'll find the kindest and the most generous community of yogis in Philadelphia here.

I knew nothing about ashtanga yoga when I walked through the doors of Palo Santo. I was nervous when the class time was 6-9. Three hours 😱 but when I walked in and learned that every student comes in at whatever time they want in that 3 hour window, I thought that was the coolest thing. My first class was guided by Aria. She taught me half of the practice that day. Each day after another pose was added until I had I was able to perform the entire primary series. Aria and Meghan are always keeping an eye on everyone, letting us know if we are out of line or provided physical assist that helped take my practice to levels I couldnot obtain without their assitance. Between that and the playful light hearted banter, the mysore program at Palo Santo has been one of the most delightful yoga experiences.

Meghan is an exceptionally gifted teacher. She combines her vast experience with the practice of Ashtanga with uncanny intuition for what her disparate students need. She meets each of us wherever we are and facilitates our growth and progress in the practice. She’s nurtured a great community of MYP Ashtangis, too!

This program - what I call it as I learn so much just by stepping into this space and feeling my way through the morning - is all about the variety of people who convene here. Meghan Marshall and her dedicated co-teachers are wonderful guides through the asana puzzles. Beyond the official schedule, we often discuss important issues and topics that can expand our understanding of daily challenges, as well as philosophical and moral issues. What more could a person want from the discipline and experiment that is this practice?

Great place for yoga practitioners of all levels. Positive, motivational, inclusive community led by very skilled teachers.
If you’re researching yoga places because you’re thinking about getting into yoga, go for it. You’ll start seeing benefits right away: flexibility, strength, balance. I showed up a few months ago knowing nothing about yoga. The teachers are happy to help any skill level and tailor their instruction accordingly.
The Mysore class format means you show up when you want to and work at your own pace. Teachers engage with individuals to provide instruction and assistance.
If you’re researching yoga places because you’re experienced and looking for somewhere to practice, I think the is the place for you too. The teachers are very knowledgeable in not just the poses, but ways to safely assist students with each one. They’re connected to the Ashtanga community and collaborate with other teachers to share and learn best practices.
