The trainers at Never Give Up are truly the best! I’ve been a member for nearly two years now, with over 190 classes under my belt. The monthly challenges and the sense of community have kept me showing up almost every day this year. NGU offers something for everyone, whether you're into heavy lifting, prefer a blend of cardio and strength, are a Pilates princess, or seek a peaceful yoga practice.

I recommend this studio to everyone I know, and I can’t say enough good things about the staff. Special shoutout to Katie Heerβ€”her heated mat Pilates classes have felt like therapy for my body and mind. She brings such a fun, encouraging energy to every session, always offers helpful modifications, and makes everyone feel seen and supported. Even when the workouts are extra spicy, she’ll have you laughing and smiling through the burn.

Never Give Up is the best! They have a wide range of trainers and classes so there is something for everyone. The classes are challenging but if you are new don’t let that discourage you! The trainers will offer modifications to anything you may not feel comfortable doing in the beginning. If you have an injury they will make sure to accommodate for that. You can tell all the trainers are passionate about their jobs and want everyone to feel their best. NGU has a great sense of community and is one of my favorite places to be!

Unfortunately, I don’t think NGU worked for me. During winter the room was freezing and you can barely hold the weights. They should do a better job about cold weather. I’m not going to even mention the parking situation - overwhelming. 80% of the time you have to set up on your workout station. There is no sense of community - my first day there I had nobody to talk me through the place and regardless of me telling the trainer it was my first day, I got 0 attention. I was used to group workouts like orange theory and f45, and comparing to these options, NGU did not meet my expectations. Lack of infrastructure. I cancelled it after 2 months and I would not recommend it.

The variety in these strength training classes is terrific. I am also encouraged to push myself towards my goals. Although I'm not an early bird, I enjoy the class enough to overcome that.

I started going here at the beginning of the year, and I love it! Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and I love the variety of classes they offer. Pilates, sculpt, and NGU50/NGU Strength are my go-to's! Teachers are super knowledgable and clearly know what they're doing.

NGU is a great gym and I highly recommend it for anybody looking to build physical fitness. The trainers I’ve worked with (Amanda and Cass) provided great customized workouts via semi-private or private personal training. I’ve noticed improvements in my strength and overall fitness. I also appreciate the periodic challenges and other motivation that NGU provides. I’ve only taken a few group classes (sculpt with Ali & Amanda and yoga with Kristin) but found them to be excellent and challenging workouts.

All the instructors are super kind, welcoming, and helpful too! The vibes are great all around and you really feel a sense of community the moment you walk in. Definitely recommend!!

I really LOVE going to NGUT. The staff is so so friendly, they always take the time to remember your first name, and greet you when you walk in. The classes are extremely versatile, challenging, and have consistent schedules. My favorite part of NGUT is they don’t pressure you into memberships and marketing tactics like other similar gyms. No games, just a safe space for fitness. Highly highly recommend!!

I have been doing personal training at NGU with Ali for 4 years now pre-COVID, during COVID and post COVID. NGU adapted to the pandemic and provided virtual workouts which was a saving grace for those of us able to still participate. Ali is extremely intuitive and will alter my workout without hesitation depending on how my body is feeling on a given day. My sessions allows me to stay disciplined and to constantly challenge myself to improve. The best part about NGU is the community feel and support! Thanks for making me Never Give Up!

I can't praise NGU enough! I started here
2 years ago as someone who was not at
all consistent in working out (or had a
clue what I was doing haha), but over the
years I've gained a lot of knowledge, consistency, strength both physically and mentally, and great friendships as well! I recommend to all levels, the variety of classes is such a plus!

NGU is THE BEST fitness studio!!! The classes and trainers are amazing. Not only am I getting into the best shape of my life, NGU has also brought me the best community of friends. The studio itself has grown to 3 different workout rooms. The equipment is amazing and the class prices are great. If I could give NGU 10 stars, I would.

I joined NGU in January of 2022, and I am so happy that I did. The classes are so challenging and rewarding that I’ve actually become a morning person and look forward to waking up for the gym. There is a wonderful sense of community about NGU, and I feel like a valued member of this gym!

I've been a member of NGU for about 5 years. Because of the mixture of classes offered, I have continued to meet and exceed all of my fitness goals.

This gym offers a variety of classes that are appropriate for all skill levels.

Trainers take the time to mentor beginners to ensure that their form is proper and to fully explain the workout.

Veteran members are welcoming and encouraging.

If you get the chance, sign up for a Lamar "Strength Class." You won't be disappointed.

I started going to NGU in the fall of 2020 a few times a week (mostly outdoors due to covid) and loved the classes so much that once classes were (safely!) back in studio I bought into the unlimited package and it is 100% worth it. There is an immense sense of community and support from the trainers and everyone who attends the classes. I have definitely seen my body transform and get so much stronger from the mix of classes offered and encouragement from trainers to go harder, lift heavier, run faster. No class is the same and I always leave feeling happy and accomplished.

joined NGU at late 2017 and only had to leave due to a shift of my work location

First off let's just get to the point: This is one of the best choices in the area in terms of cost and quality. The group classes are always small enough to build a good relationship with your trainers and the NGU50 are the most balanced yet challenging bootcamp style workouts you can get in the area

The trainers (particularly my guy Lamar) are fantastic and passionate about giving you your money's worth and through the pandemic they've been very accommodating with remote classes and safety procedures.

Ali if you are reading this thank you for all the positive change you have brought to my life!

I started at NGU Manayunk about 2 years ago. I have done both private personal training and group classes and love them both. This studio goes beyond a "typical gym" -- you get programmed classes that are challenging and will undoubtedly help you meet your fitness goals. The trainers are encouraging and professional. Ali (the owner) is very responsive -- if you have any issues or ideas about how to improve the gym, she responds immediately. For example, I recently suggested a class and she put it on the schedule to test out within 2 days!

Great gym. Great classes. Great results. However, sometimes billing is irregular and incorrect. Classes are often cancelled last minute or trainers don't show up. And the drama can make the energy less than desirable. Male trainers tend to (and are apparently allowed to) form sexual/romantic relationships with multiple clients at a time. And when that info inevitably gets out, it makes for some awkward encounters. Too much mixing business with pleasure.

Came here for the first time recently and had an amazing experience. This past month I signed up for a free month of ClassPass (only worth it if it's free, or reduced price, normal price is just not worth it) and used some of my points to try the TRX Zone class here.

My class instructor was Rachel Kuhl and was the biggest part of my amazing experience. As soon as Rachel had a free minute, she greeted me and took my name. Her overall demeanor is calm, assuring, engaging--you can tell she really wants you feel welcomed and to do your best. I have tried several free classes at various studios, and a lot of instructors treat this as just a job that they show up for. Not the vibe here. Despite only just meeting me, Rachel remembered my and everyone's name in the class. Throughout the class, Rachel walked around and would periodically address each person personally and tell them they are doing a great job. I could tell this was not just an empty compliment. There was some exercises I felt were a weak spot for me, and some that were a strong point--Rachel keenly can see this too and will call out when you are excelling at your strong points. At the end of the class, she gave everyone a fist bump. This little sentiment really made me feel like my whole presence and effort was noticed. Of course, some part of this is the natural byproduct of a small class of 6-8 people, but a class size alone cannot dictate the demeanor of your instructor. Rachel provided an engaging, personalized experience. A killer workout is awesome, but you never realize how important these other aspects of an experience are until you experience them.

Aside from how great and welcomed I felt in the class, I also thought Rachel's teaching style was awesome. Before every interval/TRX set we did, Rachel clearly and fully demonstrated every exercise that we would be doing. She explicitly stated and repeated when we would start and stop certain sets, and even counted down to each stop/start so that everyone was on the same page. I faltered here a little bit. I have pretty bad hearing, and at some points the music seemed to really compete with the volume of the instructor's voice, causing me to miss a couple of things. Not sure if anyone else had this experience, but I'm thinking it might just be me.

Overall an amazing experience. My whole body is sore today (in a good way) and I really felt like I had a comprehensive, total body workout. One thing that I think would be helpful, and need to stress that this is NOT exclusive to this studio, is that it would be nice if newcomers to a specific fitness genre or studio were told to arrive maybe 10 mins early so that the instructor can go over the equipment used. With all of my credits on ClassPass, I have gone out of my way to step out of my comfort zone and try things I have literally no experience with. In all of the classes I have tried, there was no 5-minute introductory period for total newcomers and I felt like I had to watch people around me to fully know what I need to do--which can be kind of awkward. To be fair though, I also did not ask for a quick intro to the equipment because I wasn't sure if that would take time from the instructor. Again though, totally not specific to Never Give Up Training.

Definitely a 5-star experience, check this place out if you get the chance!

NGU is the best gym in all of Manayunk, if you live in the area or not this is the place to be. I been woking with Ali Jackson (also the owner) one-on-one for the past 5 months to see a full body transformation happening for myself. She pushes you past a limit that you never think you can accomplish and then-some, you feel rewarded after each session. When you are at NGU you feel part of the community, where Ali and her team are constantly helping people reach their goals in various ways.

NGU has assisted me immensely in my weight loss/ post baby journey. Ali, who I train privately with has become my trainer & therapist in one! She is motivating & pushes your limits to show you that hard work pays off! The best part is, I’m able to go with my son and she is so kind and sweet with him! She will do anything to entertain him as long as I get my workout in! Love her & NGU!!

Quality results and exemplary motivation. I've been attending semi private sessions with Morgan for about 5 months now and I could not be happier. I've lost over 25 pounds and counting. I was worried about starting a semi private class at a beginner level but both Morgan and the other clients continue to motivate me to push past my limits and challenge myself. The only complaint I have is that my wardrobe is too big for me now and I now have to buy smaller clothes.
