My 14 year old Son, Christian, began exercising at NoBe Fit 18 months ago for the purpose of increasing his strength and stamina after Abby McCormick was recommended by close friends who are NoBe members. After a careful evalauation before setting a program that made sense for Christian’s stage of development, a challenging, sensible plan was established for Christian to follow that increased over time. The progress over time has been evident as many goals have been accomplished through Abby’s coaching.
For a son or daughter whose physical condition is lagging behind where they could be for whatever reason, I highly recommend NoBe’s coaching methods and can assure that I’m happy with the financial investment I’ve made because the difference in Christian’s confidence and physical development has made the investment worthwhile.

I regard these coaches as allies, fellow trainers on a kindred mission to help other people improve their lives. Of course I say this to preface my own "less than-amazing" experience at this gym. Hopefully you guys can gain something from my feedback. At the least, clarity.

As a customer around 2023, I'd just gained my personal trainer certification and was still seeking my own health coaching certification. I confidently decided to give NoBe's unconventional approach a try. After all, they advertised their gym as being a more personalized training experience. This seemed to align with my holistic lifestyle.

I paid the $350 for one month with a slightly older trainer who admittedly was less hands on for the $50 discount from their usual $400/month. But naturally, you'd assume I was expecting a very personalized training experience at this price point. I figured a slightly older guy in his younger 40s would have more experience than the younger coaches who were around my age, 20's early 30s, in any case, so what was there to lose really? I downloaded their app, was fully monitoring my progress after every training session, and coming 3 sometimes 4 days a week to do intensive strength and weight training. Admittedly I expected more personal guidance/feedback from my trainer. But honestly, was too distracted by achieving gains that I hesitated to call this out.

In hindsight, I recall sending multiple messages through this app that were simply never responded to. This was likely unintentional, but still frustrating. I expected my requested updates to be reflected in my personal records of my workouts, but after sessions were closed was unable to update them so this became very tricky when I encountered technical shortcomings. This speaks to why I avoid gimmicky apps in the first place to monitor my personal progress (tried several apps. Just not for me!! But I digress).

Ultimately, this trainer whom we'll call Ben to preserve anonymity was less than attentive to me, his-Padawan's progress, and seemed more or less preoccupied with other things and people. It felt like my ambitions were greeted with a smile and nod but not real empathy or more than a surface-level commitment to my individual needs.

I ultimately paid the price for it in the end when I experienced significant muscle spasms due to lower lumbar scoliosis. This forced me to stop conventional strength training with weights entirely for a time. Luckily I experienced no lasting trauma to compound my spinal condition. Again I'm forced to wonder however, were the debilitating spasms I experienced months later after a bout of Covid related to an injury I sustained under my trainers' guidance? The world may never know. I expect accountability was taken, based on my view of the owner as someone with a lot of integrity and statements that they made to me personally.

But here's where I'm forced to mention one other experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. The co-owner and partner of the owner who was supervising our training one night decided it was a good idea to play an uncensored version of "Rap God" by Eminem. Now, I grew up in the 90's too so I'm not a lightweight when it comes to vulgar music. But if you're running a gym which claims to be a "safe space" well then lyrics that "have his mom deep-throating" definitely should be avoided. Feel free to look up the rest of the lyrics.

This was the month after my mother just finished Chemo-Therapy for a precancerous mass, and it caught me in a vulnerable place, when I was already surging with adrenaline from my work-out. So my point is if you really care about the mental well-being of your customers/students, maybe be more mindful of toxic masculinity in the training environment.

Because it's alive and well in our culture. And if you're going to run a business low-key based on alternative healing principles, you especially need to make a conscious effort to embody the opposite of that. Being mindful of the media content we consume and expose others to can have a subtle, yet marked impact on health!

When I first walked into Nobe Fitness, I was super nervous—I had never weight trained before. But from day one, they made me feel welcome and really took the time to understand my goals. Everything is personalized, and they support you every step of the way without making it overwhelming.

You get your own coach, monthly check-ins, and help with everything from workouts to nutrition, stretching, and mindfulness etc. The vibe is super chill yet energetic and positive.

I’ve only been there 8 weeks, and I already feel SO much better—physically and mentally. Plus, I’m even making new friends, which is an added bonus.

I've been attending Nobefit Thrive program for a few now. The results has significantly improved my mental situation. After spinal surgery; walking very painful, awarkard and required a walking cane. I kinda accepted this was my destiny.
Then Nobefit Thrive program showed up on my Facebook reels. After listening to Abby describe the program, I signed up.

The last two years at NOBE have been fantastic for me. I always feel stronger, more flexible and more agile after each workout. I think that is a result of the ever changing workout that is developed by coaches who know what they are doing. I used to be a dedicated, self-directed, gym goer, but I never felt the continuous improvement that I get at NOBE. Many more years to come!

Update for 2025- Returning from four days of skiing in Park City and cannot say how great i felt the whole time. Special work with Abby made my legs stronger than they ever have and the altitude was not a problem. I used to be exhausted by the fourth day of skiing, but this year, I could go another four days!

I have been in and out of bigger gyms several times over the years. Even when I was working out almost daily, I never felt like I had appropriate guidance and was never able to truly meet my fitness goals. I love this place so much I almost want to gatekeep it, but I also want others to know how great Abby, Logan, and all the coaches here are.

I've never been a huge fitness person and struggled to fit it into my life because it was always a 'chore' for me. Making the leap and starting at NoBe was truly life-changing because my coach was open and willing to listen to my challenges and work with me to address them. He keeps me accountable and crafts plans that are challenging, but satisfying.

I have nothing but great things to say about this gym and everyone who works there and works out there. It's as social a place as you want it to be, and there's always community classes or social events to spend time with others.

Logan, my coach has been great in helping me to identify and work towards my individualized goals, which focus on both physical and emotional health. Going to Nobe is more than just a standard gym or training facility experience, its a place where the trainers there care far more than the standard athletic goals people have set for themselves, and make sure people are healthy and doing well overall. Think Health coach meets life coach, with a main focus of Health, but not only physical. My coach (Logan) has always been helpful in making sure im doing well inside and outside the gym and made sure I felt comfortable with my workouts and the like. The rest of the people there, whether other coaches and fellow trainees, make it an always enjoyable experience that leaves you feeling motivated and elated after, as well as looking forward to your next visit. Joining NoBe was 100% the best decision I’ve made this year. From the community to the personalized attention in your fitness journey, they are hands down the best gym and I wouldn’t be making the progress I’m making if I were anywhere else. Amazing community based gym- coaches tailor workouts specifically to your fitness level and goals. There are never more than 8 others in the gym with you, which gives clients the opportunity to get to know other clients. All workouts are supervised by a coach, allowing for immediate feedback on form. I have been a client for a year and a half and have never had a negative experience. Tired of being overwhelmed by large chain gyms, I was looking for a smaller gym/ personal trainer to work with. Opex has a very personalized approach where you work with a coach and receive your individualized workouts via app every week. Floor times are scheduled so the gym is never overcrowded and there is always a coach ready to help out as needed - whether it be for instruction, modifications, or just encouragement. Hours vary, but it’s easy to find times that work with my schedule. Owner Abby obviously cares about all the clients and always has a smile even when she’s pushing you to try your hardest. The friendliness of the staff and the camaraderie amongst the other members makes me more than willing to keep coming back at 5:15 am three times a week, something that I would never had said about a large chain gym.

The coaches at Opex have created an outstanding community where all are welcome to pilot their respective fitness journey. I've seen my personal fitness reach new levels and have created outstanding friendships along the way.

I check in with my respective coach once a month to make sure my fitness goals align with my training. This helps me keeps me accountable, and reminds me of the goals I have set for myself.

Opex is perfect for me because of how personalized it is - the programming I do each week is specifically for me. I have a lingering shoulder injury and it has always held me back in other exercise programs. In other group training situations they would modify exercises to make it easier instead of actually addressing my personal abilities. But at Opex I love that exercises are put in my program to make me stronger as well as to cater to my strengths. I feel energized and stronger every time I finish my personal workout. The coaches are encouraging and super knowledgeable which help me to keep achieving new goals. There is also a nice level of accountability which I need and find helpful to keep me on track.

I came to OPEX Bethel Park after 6 years of CrossFit. Because I love CrossFit and still want to compete, Abby programs individually for me to address my weaknesses and become a better all around athlete. As a competition nears, the we will ramp up the workouts to be ready to perform well. However, others at the gym with different fitness goals will have programming that is completely different. For instance, right now some are training for a half marathon, a long hike, better aerobic capacity on the basketball court, or just to live long and prosper. That's the beauty of OPEX - all of the work programmed by your coach is specifically directed to your individual fitness goals. Yet the fact that all of us are working out together in the gym at the same time is similar to the group dynamic which makes CrossFit so popular and fun.

The facility is very clean and attractive with first rate equipment. Ion addition to Abby, the other coaches are very knowledgeable and great to work with. Most importantly, the vibe is unfailingly friendly and supportive. I have noticed that most new members stay, which is a good sign in the fitness industry. Well worth a try if you are looking for the type of fitness experience I've described.

My commitment to my health and my physical fitness has come later in life, after age 50. Over those years I’ve tried personal training, some CrossFit and kettlebell classes, but have finally found my perfect fit with OPEX Bethel Park. OPEX has a lot in common with personal training, but it is much more a two-way experience. A path to my goal is delivered to me and I am accountable.

Coach Abby is able to work with and around any limitations I may be experiencing, whether short term or chronic, and keep me targeted on my goal(s). The workouts that she programs for me have plenty of variety in both intensity and WOD components and are never “routine.” I am challenged in some way every single workout.

The system that OPEX uses to get my daily workout to me is fantastic also. Results, weights used, notes, etc are recorded by me after my workout and are available both to me and my coach. (No more “what weight did I use last time?” issues). Small detail maybe, but very important to me :)

The gym itself is both beautiful to the eye and the soul. It is wonderfully equipped, staffed and blessed with a membership of fun, friendly and dedicated people. It is a happy place indeed.
