Welcoming staff, affordable prices, and a great set up. My teens loved it and we will definitely be back.
The auto belay option is super easy and meant my son could attack the same wall for an hour and no one had to stand there holding rope for him. :-)

Nice gym! Lots of variety for bouldering and top rope. Has a little gym in it to with practice climbing area. Auto belays too! The staff is very nice and will help you with any questions you have. Can't wait to keep climbing here!

Edit: I had to lower the stars from 5 to 3 because I have had so many issues with billing for my monthly membership. It's a normal occurrence and every time I'm assured it's fixed. Sorry guys, I do love your gym but money is tight.

I love this gym. The PRG malvern staff and community create such a wonderful space to climb and just be yourself. I look forward to women’s climb every week and always leave the gym feeling grateful 😌

I’ve been climbing at PRG for almost the past 10 years off and on and the community here has always been top notch! I’ve recently started coming to the women’s climb sessions they have, and I can’t think of a more welcoming, inclusive place to be part of. Thank you PRG for always being the best climbing gym in the area!

One of my absolute favorite PRG locations because of the community. Kirsten has done a phenomenal job boosting an inclusive community with lots of stoke. The women’s climb is a must attend. I’ve found some of my favorite people through this gym, and adore the desk staff. Great kids. Thanks for being a staple of our local community :)

I took my kids here due a birthday party and now they constantly spam me. Unsubscribing has not worked. Don’t give them your email address.

They are just okay. Not the friendliest desk people- well, it depends on the time of day that you go. The environment is not welcoming or friendly. Feels off all the way around. There are also not enough auto belay routes for when you are climbing alone.

Overall great climbing gym. I just get confused by the tape Demarcating the route rather than the color of the hold.

Music on loop with curse words, disinterested staff, no body at desk most of the time. Nobody bothered to try and check me in. Gave me rental shoes and never thought to charge me. Staff laid around playing instagram reels louder than the crappy music. Gotta also say some of the newer setters are not meeting the grade either. Not the PRG i used to love and not an isolated experience.

Visiting from out of state, I'm a beginner and these climbs were definitely challenging but not too crazy. Staff were friendly and helpful and the environment was very welcoming. Would definitely go again!

Staff was awesome and very friendly. Visiting for 1 day so the tape gym is kinda iffy, but in general tape gyms always feel wonky if you don't have time to learn holds. Otherwise ya just dab dab dab. Would be great if they opened early like 6am so you could climb pre works.

I took our three girls (pre-teen/teen) to an intro course and climbing session. Our instructor was Xander, and I can't speak highly enough of him. He was patient, supportive, knowledgeable, friendly, clear, and pleasant from start to finish. He took what started as an intimidating experience (including belaying) and made it understandable and fun. The facilities were good and the equipment was all safe and in order, but the real star of the show was Xander, who would make a tremendous teacher in any field. Thank you, Xander!

Love the amount of auto belays they have. I came from out of town for a few days so I didn't have a belay partner. I did suggest to the staff that they start up a partner board page on Facebook. This way out of town guest can link up with belay partners before arriving. I will definitely be back next time I'm the area.

Best rock climbing Gym I've been to. Very affordable compared to NY rock climbing gyms. Sky, Fritz and Austin were amazing!!!! They took the time out to give me pointers and encouraged me. Austin even recommended me a book Rock Climbing Technique by John Kettle. To bad I live in New York I would go every day!

We were there for a birthday party, which was fun, but two staff members failed to fit my 4 year old’s harness properly. The first employee (blue hair) clearly did not know how to put the harness on my small child. He eventually admitted this, saying he had never used this type before (!), and asked a second person, who helped, but neither of them tightened the harness AT ALL. Like they helped him step into it and then made zero adjustments despite the fact that he was swimming in it. My husband and I, with almost zero experience, noticed how loose it was after he had already been cleared to start climbing. We asked yet another person, who did know what they were doing (finally). It turns out the arms, legs, and torso were all WAY too loose. Every strap needed to be tightened quite a lot. Knowing how to properly and safely fit a harness for a younger child is a bare minimum responsibility for anyone in this role. They need to retrain their staff so the younger kids can climb safely.

One of the huge minuses of this location is that kids are not allowed to boulder. You must put that somewhere on the website that is immediately visible. Since me and my kids go to another gym that ONLY has bouldering they were VERY bummed about this. Never been to a gym like that. Bouldering is for kids. You expect me to belay kids when I could be climbing instead? The hanging cubes, the transparent wall, and the interesting corner wall were fun for them on autobelay but that is the only unique feature of the gym, 3 climbs. Rope walls are short, about a third higher then some walls for bouldering in other gyms. Have not seen the old style of setting with the tape, forgot how really confusing that is. Staff was nice.

First time here and have to say the experience was phenomenal. I’ve been to a few rock gyms in the area and no stranger to climbing but this location easily tops most of them. Had the pleasure of meeting two of the staff Bri and Joe and not only are they friendly but their hands on approach and assistance to newcomers was outstanding. Went well out of their way to assist and answer questions for my family. Great place for kids of all ages and adults as well. The gym easily icing on the cake, allowing access to a workout without needing a membership to another location. The place is clean, variety of climbs and bouldering routes, changes consistently. Can not recommend enough, And can’t wait to come back!

We just had our daughters 7th bday party here. It was a total hit! A lot of her friends never climbed and in the 1.5 hrs they climbed you watched each child’s confidence grow as they challenged themselves and finished their climbs with pride. I bet a lot of the kids will pursue climbing more in the future!
We live closer to the Oaks location but for a kids party Malvern is the best. The clear climb board where you can climb facing a friend was a favorite and then so many fun challenging colorful kid rock walls that the kids loved.
The girls who helped run the party were great! #1 we felt safe at all times. #2 I could enjoy the party instead of serve each child & parent attending our party #3 during the climbs these girls were very encouraging and motivating for the kids. Please tip the party staff ppl well- they definitely deserve it!
Do not hesitate to have your kids bday party here! It may be a short 1 hr and 45 min party but it is full of fun and memories… and I think a real confidence builder for the kids.

The only negative experience was the partygoers either passed the place or found it hard to locate. The signage our front needs upgraded for sure. Seems Google maps tells you to turn too late. So many of our guests were a little late for the already short party.

A really nice, homey feeling gym. They utilize their space extremely well, and there are plenty of climbs for everyone. It was pretty quiet when I was there, but even with the other climbers and a kids summer camp, it wasn't crowded at all. Will definitely be back!

We've visited the Philadelphia Rock Gyms a Malvern three times and our kids (7 and 9) have had a great time each time. Our most recent visit was for our 7-year-old's birthday on 05-June-2022 where the entire team made an effort to ensure that the event was well organised in advance of the party. The day of the party was very smooth and the kids were able to explore the entire gym. I greatly appreciate the support from Phil and Matt on the day of the party to make sure that everyone had a great time.

Very difficult to find behind multiple businesses. They need to revise their signage on Rt 30. It says NOW OPEN in big letters across top of banner with tiny letter below Philly Rock Gym. Very difficult to see this sign on a post with 6-7 other businesses. GPS doesn't make it any easier to find since again it is behind a group of buildings with no visibility. Assume it is a repurposing of unused warehouse space on the far rear of a property. Good to reuse infrastructure but too difficult to locate using any usual means of directions (GPS, Google maps, etc...).

I love PRG, and Im sure that Malvern location is awesome. But i haven't got a chance to go yet due to my schedule. I am seriously bummed out that Malvern doesn't open until noon on weekdays. I live 0.5 miles away from the malvern location but I work 12pm-10pm. Its a shame they couldn't open at 9 am like fish town. I was really looking forward to them opening possibly early in the day during the week but Unfortunately now i might have to cancel my membership. If they were open at 9am or even 10 am i would be there every other day. I really want to get further into climbing, i bought all my own gear and was going frequently, but my schedule at work changed and now i’m out of luck i guess :/
