A great Y with three pools (2 indoor, 1 outdoor) including a "warm pool" temp 88), dry sauna, steam room--but sadly the hot tub hasn't been reinstalled. Friendly folks, not too crowded, fun ellipticals with visuals from trails around the country. I look forward to coming here.

We are utterly disgusted by the appalling state of the YMCA basketball courts. Every visit reveals a hazardous, filthy mess—trash and debris everywhere, causing players to slip and fall. This isn’t just neglect; it’s a shameful disregard for member safety and a betrayal of the steep fees we pay. Multiple members share this outrage, yet despite repeated complaints to staff, you’ve done nothing. Your inaction is unacceptable and dangerous. We demand immediate action: invest in a proper floor-cleaning machine and train staff to maintain the courts. Be warned—we are contacting external authorities to address this blatant safety hazard, regardless of your response. Fix the courts now, or deal with the consequences of your negligence.

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would.
The basketball courts at this YMCA are in DEPLORABLE condition—filthy beyond belief. Dirt, trash, grime—you name it, it’s all over the floor. It’s not just gross, it’s a genuine safety hazard. Trying to play on a court like that is dangerous and unacceptable.
What makes it even worse is the staff. Not only are they unhelpful, but they’re downright rude and standoffish. Pat at the front desk actually had the nerve to tell my mom and me that it was a safety risk for us to use a broom that was already out, just so we could sweep up the court ourselves and practice. The only real safety risk here is the disgusting state of the courts—not the people trying to make the best out of it.
This YMCA clearly does not care about its facilities or its members. The priorities are completely backwards, and the staff seem more concerned with enforcing nonsense than actually addressing the real problems. I do not recommend this YMCA to anyone, especially if you care about cleanliness, safety, or basic respect.

I came here as a guest, and I was very impressed. Their front of house staff is very friendly. Their locker rooms are spacious and clean. They have a large weight room and two indoor tracks. If you live in the area and want a bit of everything, this location is fantastic!

I used to be a member and brought my kids for years, but we’ve been disappointed with the facility overall. The stairwells smell, the building feels outdated, and the overall energy is low. Staff and members often come off as unfriendly or unprofessional, and diversity is lacking.
The biggest issue for us as a working family is the lack of access to the facilities. Family swim and gym times are limited. Gymnasiums are often closed in the evenings to members who aren’t in those classes. The pools and gymnasiums are usually booked with classes, leaving little time for open for free play. My husband eventually canceled his membership because he could never get to shoot hoops whenever he felt like it or did not have enough pool time after work with the kids. Nor did he want to use that pool, since it was always full of people and we were only given a small space to be in. The pool where family swim is held, is shared with lap swimmers and classes, and it’s too deep to feel safe with two toddlers under 5. The pool is up over 5 ft deep in some areas.
We’ve also had a negative experience with the child watch director, who addressed an issue by yelling at me in front of other parents instead of speaking with me privately—which was very upsetting.
Also, I wish children had more of a place to run around while indoors. The child watch I feel isn’t sufficient for high energy kids. I know they have a playground outside but truth is employees don’t always take kids outside and weather doesn’t always permit. Perhaps they should consider doing something different indoors instead. There can be a lot of kids packed into a classroom type setting which I think can be overwhelming for them.
Also there is a seperate playground that I assume parents can use around the pool area, but when I was there I never saw it. It’s hidden ( near the street ). When I was a member I didn’t know about it, was not told about it, and i just discovered it recently while I was driving by.
While the gym equipment in the exercise gym(cardio machines and weights) is adequate, the overall atmosphere is uninspiring . It’s simply not as family-friendly as advertised.
Even if I had to pay more or a premium price I would for these things to be fixed since the location is super convenient. But I like my new fitness club too much and quite a bit of people that have attended the y have switched over. To me having a membership at the ymca just wasn’t worth it for my family, as I feel like there wasn’t enough flexibility for us and it was uncomfortable.

Constantly being kicked off the court leaving no other courts open for the youth or adults they prioritize the money involved programs over a membership they keep raising the prices on. This is also the only ymca that is consistently having these issues never again!

The basketball courts in the BTC Gym are in deplorable condition and pose a serious hazard to players. Debris and trash litter the courts, making it impossible to gain proper traction and increasing the risk of injury. If the YMCA prioritizes summer camps for revenue over maintaining basic facility standards, have the decency to inform long-term members via email that our loyalty is secondary to profit. Better yet, take initiative like other reputable facilities and invest in proper court cleaning. Relying on a filthy broom to “clean” the courts is laughably inadequate. Membership fees rise annually, yet the facility’s cleanliness clearly isn’t a priority. Allocate some of that revenue to ensure a safe, usable environment. If this issue isn’t addressed immediately, we will cancel our membership.

If it weren’t for the Phoenixville YMCA, I would probably have no friends in Phoenixville! We moved here a few years ago, and I didn’t know where to begin to make friends. My grandson suggested I join the Y. I went for a tour a few days later and joined the same day. I am a 70-something year old woman and found an amazing group of friends in the aqua combo water aerobics class. My husband and I do strength training in the gym and I’m thrilled to find that I am stronger In my 70s then I was in my 50s! The building itself is beautiful and spotless. All the employees are friendly and helpful. On one of my first days there I commented to a young woman that this was a great place to be, and she said, “ actually, I think of place as my church.” I can see why. The Phoenixville Y goes out of its way to create community and bring good health and joy to Phoenixville area residents. I’m so grateful that it’s there.

This Phoenixville YMCA center is not good at all due to the way it is handled by the management. There is a huge variation between the YMCA spring valley and this one. Very unorganized and pathetic staff and trainers. I don’t recommend this center at all for its way of operations. Staff does not seem to be qualified especially the swimming. I would never look back again to the Phoenixville center. Very bad.. disappointing.

We swung by phoenixville Y one day, instead of our home Y that we have been going to for years, and have kept coming for the last 6 months! The entire staff really make the difference. From the front desk to the pool to the gym to group classes to the kidzone. Everyone is SO friendly, helpful and happy vibes. There’s the same but less equipment than other locations but it’s never too crowded like some other locations.

LOVE THIS BRANCH!!! Unlike the overpriced(the charge for outdoor pools), ignorant, and uninformative Ambler branch that limits when you can bring guests until 4pm, like people don't work, Phoenixville (DID I MENTION I LOVE THEM?!) let's you bring guests WHENEVER! They have several different pools, very clean facilities, and the SWEETEST most helpful staff. My personal favorite! Worth a drive ✅

I have been a member at the Phoenixville YMCA for almost 30 years. The basketball courts are in horrendous condition. With the increased costs in membership fees you would think they would make cleanliness and safety a priority. When camp is finished the staff pushes piles of trash and debris underneath the basketball rims and it stays there till closing time. The courts have so much dust and dirt on them that you cannot get traction and slip. It really is a safety hazard. The nets on the rims are always ripped. Children’s clothes from camp are scattered throughout the gymnasium. Food and liquids are stuck to the court. It’s despicable. Whoever is in charge of managing the facility is doing a terrible job. And this is a problem being voiced by many members. We pay our hard earned money to be members at the YMCA and we expect the facilities to be in good condition. This is unacceptable. Make the necessary changes and please correct this problem.

I’m giving one star because of an experience I had tonight with a front desk staff member being extremely unprofessional and unable to perform her job in a timely and professional manner and making direct comments about me to a coworker as I stood right in front of her. Thanks YMCA. It has been a godsend to work out and have access to pool, basketball courts, classes and unassuming friendly help with learning little excercises on equipment for muscle groups. Thanks to Jeremiah, who left, for showing me everything on the punching bag. Bless you.

They are not friendly towards families with young children. Their family swim hours for the indoor pool are a joke. They are at the most inconvenient times. What about the families with young children? All they can do is go to a babysitter? They want parents to spend extra money signing up kids for swim lessons, but kids need PRACTICE and that means they should have indoor swim hours during the DAY. A non profit that cares more about making a profit than what's good for the community. Shame on the y!

Our family always feels so welcomed by Y staff. They are always friendly and helpful. We were so worried leaving our child in the beginning given we only let family watch him. Lucy and Rouba are so amazing with him that they’ve become some of his favorite people. They always give us a report of his time in child watch, he’s always smiling when we go to get him, and they are so attentive to the children there. If it wasn’t for Lucy and Rouba we wouldn’t be able to come as often and feel as comfortable as we do knowing our son is in the best care.

We joined this YMCA so my kids could swim in the indoor pools. When we signed up in November 2022, they told us our membership would include the outdoor pool in the summer. We went a few times, and it was great. Over my Christmas break, one of their indoor pools closed so we could not go. Once it was fixed, their family swim hours did not allow us to utilize the pools; however, we kept our membership so that the kids could use the outside pool. Luckily, I called before we went to use the outside pool because NOW they told me that we had to pay MORE just to use it. They ended up with quite a bit of our money because they lied to us when we signed up!

The pools are always crowded. There is no decent times for lap swimming ( in a pool that is appropriately temped for lap swimming) where the pools aren't over loaded for swim teams. I gets my workout on!
Update: I'm removing a star after going here after a year and a half I made the mistake of going on one of the days I normally don't come, hence I was a stranger to the front desk... it was like I was attending a Y in another country. I came in with a guess and said we were only going to play bball. Half hour in we had people "checking in" on us to confirm we were where we said said we'd be. It was so embarrassing and humiliating to a potential member. I get there's not many of us who come there, but it is 2022, as a business that professes to strive for inclusion, we should be better than this.

She's over the age limit she's 13. He had a real nasty attitude. If you hate your job quit or retire. The facilities are nice and we enjoyed the pool during the summer but if we have to deal with jerks I'd rather cancel my membership and go elsewhere.

I have been a member of this Y for a little over 6 months and I have been nothing but impressed since I've joined. I used to spend a lot more money on class specific gyms in the past and decided to give the Y a try for the overall facilities and variety in class offerings. Since I've joined, I've tried to many group classes including Cycle, Sprint, Bodypump, BodyAttack, Grit, and more. Every instructor I've had has been incredibly supportive and attentive and on par with more specialized gyms with a much higher price tag. The facilities are large and clean with plenty of cardio equipment so there is an open spot even during the daily surge times. Every staff member I've dealt with is kind and helpful and really makes the place feel like a community. I recommend memberships to my friends and family all the time and those I have referred have had the same experience as me

Shirley at the front desk was extremely rude to a loyal ymca member. I attempted to bring a guest in as a nation wide member. She informed me that I was technically a guest and unable to bring a plus one. When I replied to her asking if she was be able to make an exception bc I’ve been a member for five years and consistently coming in, she came back immediately with “sir, you’re getting out of line” and “bees attract more honey” not sure what that threat meant but I did not like where she was going. I tried to have a conversation with her but I have a feeling that bc she’s behind the desk and older than me, that she could treat me however she wanted to. She never apologized with I gently said that she was being rude to a stranger. I enjoy this Y but Shirley at the front desk ruined it for me honestly. Having such an impolite front desk staff is not a good look for the Y.
