Giving this location a one star in hopes the owner takes notice.
I am a retired business owner who decided to travel cross country and was excited to arrive in Erie PA this morning. However excitement was quickly diminished when I arrived at this location. I am in a van which is clearly for van life living(solar etc) and I barely got my window sun screen up when I was approached by a groundskeeper who asked me what I was doing. I responded I am going to fix me something to eat then workout/shower and scan the Internet for things to do first in town. He informed me that the owners will have my van towed and that they don't approve of "these types of things". The man personally was extremely polite but my issue is with the "owner" if this is true. I chose this location because it's the only true 24/7 location in Erie and it was extremely close to the lake and to have to be in constant fear that if I leave my van to go into the gym this "owner" will have my property towed is outrageous. Also in Pennsylvania even if someone else calls a tow truck and they don't end up towing you you still have to pay the fee so I would potentially have to pay hundreds of dollars just because I chose to workout at this location. I am a black card member and have NEVER had such an uncomfortable experience as I did this morning.
I fully understand if there's a problem with homeless people causing disturbances it needs to be dealt with but deal with those situations individually don't harass and punish paying customers in my case of three of the stores in this plaza. Advice to the planet fitness owner of this location, have a serious discussion with the owner of this plaza because your customers should never be made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or in fear of property loss just to visit your location.
Advice to van lifers or anyone in general at this point use the 1920 Edinboro Rd location. They're so friendly and welcoming it's insane. They have a huge parking lot and do not in any way discriminate against van life members or even truck driving members.
Thank you to all who take the time to read this I hope the rest of my Erie Pennsylvania trip doesn't meet such negativity.

Good general equipment with newer plate loaded machines. If you dont like crowds and used cc on machines go after 9pm or between 1:15 pm and 2:45pm saturday and sunday peak times are between 8 and 10am

The gym is generally pretty clean-ish, late 2nd and usually 3rd shift they guy is always cleaning the equipment, I can probably safely vouch for that. However, it seems the standup tanning booths are ALWAYS neglected, especially the floors in those little rooms and the booth floor itself, leaving them rittled and covered with enough long hairs from Heads, and....and ...AND.... short AND not so short AND curlys from use your imagination where they came from, to weave a rug with a thick nap ,AND still have a literal hurricane of pubes whirling about and tickling your face as the fans from the tanning booth kick on and your stuck in a doplar/pubular terror of a windstorm that endures the full 9 mns you probably chose to be the length of your tan just a few regretful minutes ago. So to avoid all this, you can just spend 9 mins before you tan hand cleaning and mopping and spraying the floor and stand up booth floor and steps yourself , because what do you expect for $25 a month? To not have to do this EVERY TIME You want to tan? Yeah right it's not like it's $40 a month like super clean zoom tan is.... Unless you get hit with that new bright and shiny $15 late fee recently rolled out sneakingly with no warning by PF..... Then yes it is $40 a month. And not worth it if my new janitorial position isnt helping cover that $40 or offering bennies like insurance and 401k.

The West Erie location provides all of the amenities of a modern gym that you'd come to expect and I'm thankful for that. Aside from a few chance encounters with people that left me feeling weirded out or almost discouraged to go, it's a nice spot. Some of the staff used to be a problem but that has come and gone and we are on okay terms now.

I like using the free weights in the back room. I donโt like being up front where the other free weights are, it makes me uncomfortable. But the amount of times a week I have to cut my workout short or leave feeling like Iโm going to pass out or feel sick because they donโt like leaving the air conditioning on in that area has me really looking forward to the new Crunch gym opening. I had no intention of making the extra drive to Crunch but surely theyโll care about the wellness of their patrons more than this planet fitness.

Very well equipped, clean gym. Staff is friendly. As a user of the 30 minute circuit, my only complaint is that the staff does not monitor the area ever. Itโs impossible to go through the circuit in order because of the people who wander in and use a machine and interrupt the flow of the circuit. I have never seen staff correct this situation. The same machines are available in the main area.

My husband and I went to cancel our memberships on the same day. The associate we spoke to canceled my husbandโs but did not cancel mine. Now two months later when I noticed the reoccurring charge still happening, I contacted the gym and spoke to Josh, one of the managers. He told me heโd never heard of anything like that happening and that I must have not really asked to canceled my membership. I assured him we both came in for the same reason and I did cancel mine too. At that point he inferred I was lying and there was no way to refund the charge on hearsay. When I asked for Planet Fitnessโs corporate phone number he told me โno one at any of the franchises has that you have to look it up yourselfโ. Iโve been in public service for many years, this was one of the worst examples of customer interaction Iโve ever seen or experienced. I initially wanted to just take a break from my membership, but after this interaction, Iโve escalated to Iโll never go back!
Update: Iโm not sure why, but Josh called me back later the same day and told me that Planet Fitness would refund the two months of fees that shouldnโt have been charged. I donโt believe Iโll ever rejoining that gym, but I do appreciate the attempt of better customer service.

Really nice and welcoming customer service. You always feel welcomed here. Got a lot of machines and itโs 10 a month for the classic membership. Good place to go if youโre just starting out too. The environment there is nice no one there seems to have staring problems or attitudes.

I can get a good, solid workout, and do it the way I want to do it, without any hassles.
The equipment is well-kept and there's enough of it that any wait for a machine is only a minute or two.
There's a friendly, clean and considerate vibe in the place.
...And I especially love the hydro-chairs! They are the perfect end to a brutal workout!

I am aware that the gym closes at 7:00pm on the weekend. I finished my cardio session at 7:00pm and was in the locker room for less than 5min. I used the air dryer and as I was putting it back to get my stuff and leave, an employee came in yelling at me that itโs 7:00pm and that I need to leave, he took the air dryer mad at me because I couldnโt figure out how to put it back and he kept saying that I shouldnโt be here and so on. He also kept walking behind me when I was taking my stuff from the locker. He made me feel so uncomfortable and I was just done with a very exhausting workout. I was CLEARLY leaving and had no intention of staying because I knew there were closing up, why did he feel like the need to yell at me and make me feel uncomfortable!?
Itโs so unprofessional to harass a costumer like that! I really liked the place but this treatment is so unacceptable!

I have a black card membership and come to this gym seven days a week. About three days a week I bring my sister with me as a guest and without fail every single time she comes in she is harassed by the โseven year managerโ. It has become overwhelming aggressive and rude!!! Instead of focusing on cleaning the locker rooms, cleaning the mold off of the shower curtains and trying to get rid of the dry flies that are everywhere they would rather spend their time irritating PAYING CUSTOMERS. This place would be great if it was better staffed
