This is a follow up of my previous posting with some additional details about Planet Fitness Jenkintown. I told you in my previous post there are many more issues, stay tuned. Here we are again. I am not going to congratulate anyone for fixing those previous issues because they never should have been ignored for months in the first place. Most of the televisions are in working order now except for some equipment that has audio is not set up correctly for all 10 channels. Number 8 television does not have audio going on 2 months now. At least three other members that I know of have asked to have the audio problem repaired to no avail. Totally ignored.

Since my last post management moved 8 of the 14 first floor treadmills upstairs. I heard of an instance where an elderly person arrives at the gym and wanted to use a treadmill but they were all occupied and the elderly person did not feel it was safe to go upstairs to use a treadmill so the elderly person went back home. Now there are only 6 treadmills on the first floor. All 6 treadmills are on the left side of the room. You can watch television’s numbered 1 to 5 ok but you can’t see 6 to 10 very well and you certainly can not read what is on the screen because the televisions are so far away. At least 5 or 6 treadmills should be brought back downstairs and put on the right side so members can watch televisions number 6 through 10.
There is a huge empty floor upstairs that is not used for anything. Equipment could be moved forward toward the televisions and spread out. The Planet Fitness advertisement televisions actually say “spread out don't get so close to each other so you don't spread germs, disease etc.” or something to that effect and yet the treadmills on the second floor are like 2 inches apart from each other. Spread them out and move them closer to the televisions.

As far as the “Response from the owner” that is seen after most posts on this web site. Do not respond to me and tell me to get in touch with Planet Fitness Jenkintown management. We have tried that. If you are the owner take care of it. I gave you the location, I'll give it to you again “Planet Fitness Jenkintown”. Just deal with it, fix it, or are you the problem? Get your head out of your armpit.

You belong needs to go since they took out the 30 minute space to put other equipment. They no longer care about us older folks. We no longer belong, it’s a money making gym. Half of the Heaver equipment put in isn’t even used , too many of the same.

This place has a lot of machines ad weights and plenty of space to work out.
Bur the owner and clientele are less than desirable. It's supposed to be a "non-judgemt" place, but it is NOT!
When I was in the locker room after getting in my work out gear, 3 guys came in and one guy took his shirt off, another got on his knees and I thought to myself this is so weird. Why would they do that.
Another day some guy was obviously mistreating in a stall, making noises. I'm thinking, why do that in here?
Then the owner, Jack, said I wasn't welcome at his place.
Thank God
It made me uncomfortable just being in there.
If I could put zero stars,I would.
The lowest is one.
This place is strictly for creepers only.
Beware of this place
Before the pandemic i used to go to Blue Bell and Norristown and it was NOT like Jenkintown

I have been a member of this gym for many years and have previously given the Jenkintown PF glowing reviews, but recently after returning from being away for some months I have discovered that many things about this gym that I used to enjoy have changed. The new, young manager is polite and friendly but seems to have no clue about how to manage a club this size. Many of the elliptical machines have been eliminated and the six machines that remain are so close together that you are touching elbows with person next to you. Other aerobic machines are positioned the same way. It isn't that there isn't room to separate the machines, apparently, it is their perverse way of preventing lawsuits. Half of the second floor space remains vacant and unused. I can't wait until the winter when viruses are running rampant and I can catch the flu from someone who is exercising next to me. Really?
The other issue I have is with the HVAC system. This is a closed environment building that depends on this system to provide fresh air. Aerobic activity requires heavy and strong breathing to be effective, and when the gym is occupied by many members at one time, the CO2 level in the building rises dramatically. I have found on many occasions that half of the units that provide ventilation in this building are not operating according to the readings on the thermostats. This is a large building and it requires 8 zones to properly condition the air. It seems that the management is deliberately disabling 3 or 4 of these zone units to possibly save money on their electric bill. Why else would these units be chronically not in operation? Perhaps they guess that the large ceiling fans will make up for the very expensive operation of the proper cooling and ventilation equipment. It doesn't.
Other than those main issues there is little more to say. Choose this gym if you think breathing in foul and recirculated used air is good for you.

I used to love this location. The recent equipment “additions” and layout changes leave a lot to be desired. The weight machines are laid out in a manner that leaves you wandering around aimlessly searching for the next part of your workout. There’s also less of the popular weight machines so you have to wait longer or stalk people to get your workout in. The removal of so much equipment has also left the area feeling empty and gives the impression that they’re struggling to stay in business. This location needs to radically rethink the equipment layout so it’s intuitive and actually have the equipment most people use.

In June, I went in and asked to cancel my membership due to summer travel plans. After being bullied and pressured into just pausing it and being promised that I wouldn’t be charged until I came back to unpause it I was still charged. When I went in looking for guidance the manager just shrugged his shoulders and offered to pause it then. Very disappointed that I am paying for someone else incompetence especially since I was pressured by staff to pause it rather than canceling like I wanted to.

This is the only PF that if there’s a threat of rain they close down due to a “power outage “ The management needs to hire somebody wants to come in to work …That coupled with the safety concerns of the Smith machines being so close to each other it’s an accident waiting to happen. This has been bought up to the attention of the management but it’s like talking to a brick wall.

This is hands down the best Planet Fitness I’ve ever been to. One of the workers here he’s literally the bid. He had treated me like no other human with decency at a work place would!! Activated the chair for me while he was cleaning the female locker room he Didn’t have to do that, but he did. That’s rare. Super chill energy, clean space, and honestly I could live here fr. If you’re in the area and need a solid stress free gym with good people this is the one. He’s a sweetheart for real where his raise seem like he the only one who be keeping it clean up in here never really saw nobody else in here keep it as sanitary as him!!

This Planet Fitness is full of 20 something year olds and teens. I like to use the cable crossovers and everytime I go to use it there's another random kid doing bicep/tricep curls and standing there between reps on his cell phone selfishly hogging up the equipment. These people have no sense of fair play and will not share equipment when asked. They expect you to stand there and wait, period, while they remain stationary inbetween exercises using their cell phones.
The lack of consideration for others at this place is astounding, and incidentally this behavior occurs on all the equipment, not just the cable crossovers.
Another turn off about Planet Fitness is their showers are often full of hairs on the walls and drains.
I have decided it best to go to an alternate gym where the members are more mature & considerate of each other and where the shower stalls are cleaned regulary. Obviously, this means more $$, but it will be well worth it to be relieved of selfish Gen Z'ers wasting time running their mouths and playing games on their phones when I just want to work out and go.

Clean facility. Good variety of strength and cardio equipment. Broken equipment items are repaired quickly. Easy parking. Affordable price. Convenient to home and work. Knowledgeable staff. I only have 2 issues. It is not a 24 hour gym, so check the weekend hours before you join. Second, 1 or 2 of the 4 bathroom toilets are always broken at this location in Jenkintown. It would be great if they fixed plumbing issues as quickly as they fix equipment.

Planet Fitness is truly one-of-a-kind gym and fitness center as it attracts people of different gender, race, age and physical appearance, from the casual exerciser (like myself) to the fitness buff. I've been to other gyms, but this Planet Fitness stands out. Even though I live closer to a Crunch Fitness, the extra drive is 100% worth it. The staff here are constantly cleaning, and the gym always smells fresh, something you don’t find everywhere. There are plenty of machines available, so even during peak hours, I can get my workout in. The team here is incredibly welcoming, greeting me with a smile every time I walk in and leave.

I joined Planet Fitness because they have many locations and the hours are very good. 24 hours Monday through Friday and till
10 Pm, Saturday and Sunday, at the location where I am at in Jenkintown.
The membership is extremely affordable and the gym has everything you need to work out. There is more than one machine for the same exercise, which is very nice.
There is also a machine for stretching, rather a stretching machine. There are plenty of TVs, you can watch, if you're riding a bike or you using the treadmill.
Of course they have lockers in the dressing room. Don't forget your lock. They also have small lockers at the front, with spinning changeable locks on them, that are big enough to fit a large tote bag.
The locker rooms are clean and big and the showers are nice. The staff is always friendly and always helpful and there are even Tootsie Rolls at the entrance but beware don't eat too many 😀..

Not safe for females working out alone. I will likely never return to this gym.

Several male staff and their other male friends were the perpetrators. When the gym is nearly empty, I see NO reason why a group of male staff members and their buddies should form a half circle DIRECTLY BEHIND the machine where a lone female is simply trying to work out. I literally had to push one of them out of the way, as I yelled, "EXCUSE ME!" and ran into the ladies locker room.

Be very careful and mindful of their billing practices...during Covid...I canceled my $10 per month membership and soon learned that Planet Fitness continued to charge my bank for an additional 8 months using different invoice number to bypass the closed account. This is my goto PF spot, ad it is closest to home. Admittedly dont go here all thr time to workout as it is missing some key MTS equipment. But the place is always clean. Lots of good equipment choices (just wish a few more!! MTS back/chest/shoulders would be nice. So much space...would love those additions!). Staff are all amazing - Ty, Mark, Kalil, Cassie, Nicole, Sophia, Jimmy...all spot on . Always willing g to help. Super attentive. One of my favorite gyms especially for the stellar staff.

Black card amenities are good. Hydro, total body enhancement (redlight), hybrid tanning...all in great shape.

Small changes and I would never go anywhere else! Still 5 stars!

I love this gym. It was recommended to me by my physical therapist because it was the only gym she knew of that had a specific machine she wanted me to use, and that has been very helpful. It is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the price makes it possible for me to even go to a gym. I also don't feel judged or out of place because of my size. Having been to other PFs, I can confidently say this is the nicest one anywhere nearby. It's clean, well-spaced out, and the staff are lovely and helpful. If I could change one thing, it would be to have the gym open earlier on Saturdays and Sundays for those of us who have to work those days or just have very busy agendas those days. Excellent strength training classes with Dave. Wonderful hydromassage beds for after workout reward. Staff are welcoming and make you feel at home. Gym is kept very clean, including restroom areas. Can't beat it for the price!
