My family and I enjoy working out at this specific Planet Fitness location because all of the staff and management are professional, courteous, welcoming and attentive to any concerns raised. This PF is cleaned regularly throughout the day and they have newer models of equipment that are well maintained.

As far as the complaints I’ve read about music selections / requests not being played goes, I think it’ll be hard for staff and management to please everyone’s musical tastes. This is a nonissue on my end thanks to the use of a trusty headset and my own personal music selection.

Much gratitude to Dillion and Thomas and all of the staff for creating a gym experience that allows members and visitors to feel seen and heard and their concerns fairly considered and addressed.

I’ve been coming here for a while and it’s such a great gym. The staff are always so kind and welcoming, which makes it easy to feel comfortable walking in. The whole place has a really relaxed vibe—never too loud or overwhelming, just a nice, chill space to get a workout in. There’s plenty of equipment so I never have to wait around, and everything is always clean and well taken care of. Seriously there's usually at least 2 people on the floor cleaning, replacing spray bottles, and making sure there are cleaning materials. Its a gym that feels easy to keep coming back to, and I really appreciate that.

I’ve been going to this gym for about 2 years now and never had a problem with anything or anyone. The management truly keeps the gym a “judgment free zone”, I see people from many different backgrounds, careers, race, gender, and age come here. So I never felt afraid of coming in after work. I come in, throw my headphones on get my lift in. In the case that I forget my headphones, I can connect to planet fitness Rockbot app and queue my song of my choice. The equipment, machines, and ellipticals are always clean, and the cleaning stations are always supplied properly. It truly is a great gym and community. The employees and management always greet you with respect, which is always a nice way to start your workout. I have nothing but respect and appreciation for the staff that work at this planet fitness. And will keep coming here.

Staff member named Thomas walked up to me and interrupted my workout to critique my form and pick on me about the amount of weight i was doing. I had to take my earbud out to try to explain myself to this know it all. I could tell by his demeanor he was going out of his way to give me a hard time. He even went as far to ask me how much I weigh and claimed I was “going flat” by bringing my lower back into the close grip pull downs I was doing. Claimed he never saw anyone do it that way before. Clearly he’s never seen any old school bodybuilding films like Pumping Iron. He was suggesting i shouldnt need to bring my lower back into the exercise because i was pulling less than my bodyweight. I was minding my business, and this guy felt entitled to know what muscles I was working, how much I weigh, and felt entitled to an explanation as to why I was leaning back while on the close grip cable pull down. Thats a guy who cant mind his own business. His manager Dustin didnt oversee any of the conversation but felt the need to justify his staff member interrupting my workout. Dustin didnt take any accountability for anything his employee said and even went as far as to say “i think its all in your head”. This is your “Judgement free zone” everyone. I cancelled my membership on the spot.

Even after my interaction with Thomas, I could see him doing the hand motion while talking about me to Dustin after our interaction. Dustin later confirmed to me that these two were talking about me after the fact. These staff members talk about the gym members behind their backs. Just a heads up. It’s all justified in their minds.

I have to say that after reading these reviews, I will not be joining. I didn't know you couldn't have your phone with you and that's what I listen to all my music on so STRIKE 1. Next is the arguments about the Indian music and other music hogging up the music system, whatever it's called (I can't recall- something -box) so STRIKE 2. I see that it's not open 24 hours anymore so STRIKE 3. I have read about complaints of ignorant employees at this location and insisting people put their credit cards on file when they didn't need to and also people having a hard time canceling, so STRIKE 4 & 5. THANKS BUT NO THANKS. I'll go elsewhere especially since you're the smallest location and I know I won't like the "clientele" either.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the current experience at the Planet Fitness location. An employee has been misusing the Rockbot app to consistently skip or block songs by Indian artists that I and other members have requested. This practice is not only unfair but also discriminatory. It creates an unwelcoming environment and prevents members from fully enjoying the music selection feature that the gym promotes.

I have already spoken to the staff about this issue, but it has not been resolved. Management must address this problem to ensure that all members have an inclusive and enjoyable experience.

James loves to play with my Headphone 😂😂. I had an incredibly frustrating experience at Planet Fitness with a Planet Fitness Employee who completely hijacked the Rockbot app, preventing my chosen artist from being played. This employee monopolized the queue, blasting their own songs—sometimes 6 or 7 in a row by the same artist—while consistently downvoting or blocking everyone else’s requests, including mine. It felt like they were gatekeeping the gym’s vibe, and my artist, which aligns with my cultural preferences, was repeatedly skipped or marked “unavailable” without any explanation.
There’s no clear reason why my songs were blocked—whether it’s licensing, content filters, or just the employee’s personal bias—but the lack of transparency is infuriating. The app’s system already limits users to 2-3 songs before corporate playlists kick in, but this employee seemed to have unchecked power, possibly using admin privileges to dominate the queue. Other members have complained online about similar issues, with staff at some locations openly admitting they downvote songs to enforce their “preferred” playlist. This isn’t the “Judgement Free Zone” Planet Fitness claims to be.
It’s especially aggravating when certain genres—like hip-hop or R&B—seem to get shut down more often, making the experience feel exclusionary, even if it’s not explicitly racial. The employee offered no help when I asked why my artist wasn’t playing, just shrugging it off, which made it feel personal. Rockbot’s clunky interface doesn’t help, with songs stuck “under review” for ages and no notification on approvals or denials.
Planet Fitness needs to train their staff to use Rockbot fairly and transparently, or better yet, limit employee control over the queue. This experience ruined the gym’s vibe and made me dread the music every workout. If you’re stuck with a power-tripping employee like this, good luck getting your music played—bring headphones instead.

I’m not affiliated with this Planet Fitness as an employee, but I feel compelled to speak up after seeing reviews accusing the staff here of racism over music selections. These allegations are completely unfounded and unfair.

The Rockbot music app at this location is an automated system designed to balance everyone’s song requests and prevent any single artist or genre from dominating the playlist for hours at a time. It routinely skips or removes songs to ensure variety—this happens across all music, no matter where it comes from.

It’s simply not true that employees are sitting there manually blocking songs because they’re Indian music. That’s not how Rockbot works, and it’s not how the staff operate. Everyone gets the same opportunity to request songs, and the app applies the same rules to everyone.

It’s also important to note that other members—especially older guests—have been leaving the gym because of one person repeatedly playing the same songs over and over for hours. The system is there to create a shared, welcoming environment for everyone, not to cater to just one person’s endless playlist at the expense of others’ experience.

Accusing someone of racism is extremely serious. Throwing that label around simply because an automated playlist enforced variety is both unfair and harmful to employees who treat all members with respect. If you have questions about why certain songs didn’t play, it would be far more reasonable to ask about the Rockbot settings or speak with management rather than jumping to assumptions about discrimination.

The “Judgement Free Zone” means respecting fellow members and staff—and that goes both ways.

Jashan, as someone who’s been a member at this Planet Fitness for years, I’ve got to say… this whole complaint feels way overblown. Rockbot is literally a shared playlist app. No one — not even staff — is sitting there plotting against you or your music. Songs get skipped or marked unavailable all the time because of licensing restrictions, content filters, or just the way the app rotates requests. It happens to everyone, including me, and I don’t take it personally.

You’re acting like the employee was on some “power trip,” but from what I’ve seen, the staff here are some of the friendliest and most helpful people around. Their job is to make sure the music fits a wide variety of members — we’ve got teenagers, older folks, early morning lifters, and people just walking on the treadmill. Not everyone wants to hear the same artist 6 or 7 times in a row, and that’s exactly why the system mixes things up.

And this idea that certain genres are “being shut down” is a stretch. I’ve heard everything from country to old-school hip-hop to classic rock playing here, and no one bats an eye. The only time songs don’t make it through is when they violate guidelines or aren’t licensed for public play — it’s not personal, and it’s definitely not targeted.

Honestly, most of us regulars just pop in headphones if we want total control over what we’re hearing. The gym is about getting a good workout, not fighting over the aux cord. This location is clean, the machines are well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the price is unbeatable. I’d rather focus on those positives than write off an entire gym over a playlist I can’t control.

Planet Fitness is a “Judgement Free Zone” — that goes both ways. Maybe instead of assuming bad intentions, give the benefit of the doubt and remember that the music is for everyone, not just one person.

One of my favorite experiences going to the gym is the atmosphere that is created.. it’s free from judgement and the environment is friendly, fun and welcoming. One of the employees, De’shan, has been there since I started going to the gym. As I began my fitness journey, he’s always had a smile on his face, he is positive and encouraging. From the very beginning he was supportive, helpful and informative. Employees like De’shan help to create such a great environment within the gym. Along with bringing such a positive vibe to the place, De’shan is always working hard, every time I see him he is cleaning, ensuring that the gym is up to wonderfully kept standards, taking care of equipment and members in need. I’m thankful to have had such a positive experience at the gym and a lot of it is thanks to helpful employees such as De’shan. My hope is that his hard work and kind, positive attitude is recognized and appreciated.

I’m about to cancel my membership due to the Incident I just had,
Now I use my phone to track my sugar and many other medical things ,Well I went for a workout today and almost passed out due to my sugar dropping, And I ended up calling my wife just in case if I needed to go out to get seen . I was rudely stopped And told I was not able to be on my phone on the “main floor” or “in the bathroom “and I explained to them I am a diabetic and epileptic ,and I was checking my sugar and called my wife sense she’s my emergency contact and my driver all they had to say after was “ SORRY I assumed do you need to make a incident report” I said No that I just needed to leave and go get some food after he rolled his eyes at me . I’ve experienced harassment at Planet Fitness over very small things. For example, they make a big deal about the noise when putting down weights, or even if you have both sides of your headphones in. It seems like they are constantly nitpicking over trivial issues, especially Thomas. I don’t know for sure, but it feels like they might be discriminating against certain people. It’s disappointing, and it makes the environment uncomfortable.

I’ve been going here since about the time they opened and I’ve been to a couple different Planet Fitness in the area. The reason I continue to go here (even though I started a new job recently further away) is because of the friendly staff and the very kept up with equipment. One person that stands out in particular is Thomas. Every time I go there, he always has a friendly smile, greets me and even knows me by name! Recently, on my way out of the gym, he looked at me and said “Hey man, I’m proud of you for staying so consistent and showing up”. That meant the world to me being on a fitness journey and losing 155 pounds so far. He (and the other staff members) are the reason I continue to use (and recommend) this location to anyone! New Spanish Manager Javier is rude and a bully.  Staff keep on leaving the gym frequently.  New Manager is Rude  behaviour and harassing old people who has been at this gym is more uncomfortable for everyone. since his dayone. Short Sara another insult to this gym, who does not know how to behave in the gym and elderly people.  The area. Bathrooms, Toilet areas are molded and  Stinking smell  is coming from the locker room.

Gym temperature is too Hot! and there is no air conditioning (IIs Turned OFF). Not even the Fans are running in the gym.. Which makes Sweaeting and creating more problems for members.

New staff are definitely not cooperative with people. We hope the Owner steps in and takes corrective action.

Another thing they need is your Bank account numbers, not credit cards.

I absolutely love going to this location. I've been going since January this year and the staff is amazing! I go at 6am, so I commonly see De'Shean (Sorry if I butchered it) and John- they're amazing!! Gym is super clean, everyone mostly keeps to themselves.

The only "complaint" I have is more so recently, it feels like the systems are never up and running, so you constantly have to sign in on paper and it's a tad annoying. Other than that, great gym!!

This is a new facility that opened in summer 2023 I guess. Clean, obviously new, and large locker rooms and showers.

For the truckers and car campers...
The space this PF now occupied was an empty strip mall and it was filled with trucks or truck driver's personal vehicles. I car camped at the walmart directly across and felt completely comfortable because of all the trucks. I visited this PF on 10/24/23, and there were still several trucks. However, an Ocean State Job lot is opening soon and there are large signs stating "absolutely no trucks", so... not sure how much longer this space can be used for truck parking. Bit Clearly they aren't enforcing it.

As for car camping, the walmart was filled with many campers overnight and the whole shopping center has plenty of parking.

Enjoyed this gym and using the new machines. Very clean. I like the set up of the gym, especially the weight machines, very spacious for personal space. I like how there is more step masters at this one, since this is a popular machine. I also like how the training/stretching section has its own variety of dumbbells for us shy people, who don’t want to go over and take dumbbells from a whole other section. Lastly, I love that there is plenty of parking.
