Firstly, the lockers absolutely suck. I can’t stand that you have to use their locks and not bring your own.
I literally took a picture of my locker combo and my locker wouldn’t open and had to wait for a female employee because it was inside the locker room. Then she said “are you sure you’re using the right combo?” I showed her the pic and she said yeah that doesn’t mean anything….im sorry what? She then had to go and get a key and didn’t even ask me if it was my stuff. What if someone says they forgot their combo and steal your stuff? This whole process is a nightmare

Also, why have a dress code if you don’t enforce it? I see so many people with bare feet on equipment and not wipe anything down. The entire gym smells like old sweat and bleach.

The Calcutta location does not have this problem

Also, super sick and tired of seeing women’s parts when you look around. Today I was on a machine and I sometimes use the red light/green light to time my sets, I look over and this girls shorts were so short her vagina was literally hanging out.
PF gyms, when well, managed are nice but not this location.
And don’t even bother asking if I talked to the staff. They are either so young they don’t care to pass the message along or they are too busy talking to one another to even look up to see that you even exist

For the price it's a decent gym, it's clean, staff are pleasant. It's unfortunately too crowded most times of the day for the size and equipment available. Which is a good problem for them, and not an issue for a lot of people. I am just used to a more private fitness center and unfortunately moving back to the area I haven't found a better one that is open when I'm off work. Again I don't dislike PF and It's run well, just not enough competition in the area to cut into the crowd there.

What a horrible experience! Waiting for a tanning booth for 1 hour not once but twice when I came for a visit is ridiculous. I'm not sure why no one is monitored the bed use, but these beds can not be full for 1 hour on two separate occasions.

For a newer location, the equipment is old, weathered and not up to par like other Planet Fitness locations. It’s sad when we come to our home gym which is Monaca, the equipment is nothing like the other locations and I’ve been to many. When they moved, we really thought newer equipment would have been brought in but they brought in the old equipment from previous location. Seats are worn, cracked, cardio machines are not stable and shake. I hope with the added memberships, equipment gets updated soon.

The Cleanliness is not up to par either. Employees are always gathered up front on their phones. I have addressed multiple times dispensers that are empty or things need refilled. The machines are dirty and spotted. With a gym and germs, this should be a priority.

Horrible customer service and there is a hidden yearly fee so careful what time of year u join. I tried to cancel upon finding out it's a 50 dollar fee on top of the first payment of $30 which would've drained my account to the negative... when I did they claimed I can't cancel till I paid the balance!!! Walked in on a Sunday 3/9 and the dude was not at the counter for a good 5-10 minutes. One of the several people standing there waiting went back to the bathroom to get the guys attention and let them know. The customer came back and said "all he said was, 'yeah that's fine.'" maybe a few minutes after that, he came back to the counter.

I was looking for a day pass (free online). He was clearly annoyed to be having to process the day pass. He goes, "Just so you know, it's going to be $20 for one day. Are you sure you want to do it?"

Not impressed with this experience at all. This place is not worth your time.

This was my first Planet Fitness experience, and I became a regular for the three weeks I was in town. It’s wild seeing the same faces every morning… the 6am crowd is dedicated! I like the Life Fitness treadmills. Nice staff, nice folks working out. Early morning, I was always able to get a treadmill, smith machine, work out bench, etc. The one time I slept in and went at lunch time, people were savage and took up residence on machines. Never again. The black card spa is a blessing in the winter. The red light machine was single handedly pulling me back from the winter gloom ledge.

Best planet fitness I have been to in PA yet. It is newly opened and renovated. They have a health pod for meditation, red-light therapy, hot and cold therapy, and their tanning beds have new bulbs regularly. They also have the new chair massages that recline completely and have a lot more compression. I liked this gym for the variety in equipment like a glute bridge machine and plenty of leg presses which is definitely needed in a busy gym. Staff are nice and helpful and are actively cleaning things.

First time using the planet fitness in Monaca PA. They recently moved from the old location by the mall down to the Walmart plaza. When I first walked in I thought ewww, it smells like cat urine. The bathrooms are nice as usual like all the planet fitness’s. The lockers are pretty cool that they have built in combinations you get to use without having to bring your own lock free of charge. I noticed that all the cardio machines are older and do not
Compare to the others I have been to or my home gym. These machines are something they prob bought on the 90’s or early 2000’s. Today people like myself like to Connect our smart devices to the machines to keep track but you can’t do that here. They definitely need to update the cardio equipment. The rest of the gym seemed ok. Out of the 5 plant fitness I’ve been to on the last 11 months I’d say this one was second to last.

I used to go to the PF in Century III but had to transfer here after moving, the Monaca location has more men strutting around, doing I have no idea what than actually working out. They walk up and down all of the aisles, including the ones with cardio machines for hours, i never see these men actually work out. I mean i get having a stretch between machines but i am not kidding when i say they just walk laps for hours. If you want to walk laps indoors, go to a mall, they're bigger. Its weird. People sit on machines for 20 mins or so, looking at their phones, without doing a single rep. The employees mostly congregate behind the counter, they don't even look at you when you scan your badge, I could probably rent mine out at this point. It also smells like they don't realize that you also have to clean out the mop bucket itself from time to time. I stopped going.

I've gone to this Planet Fitness about a dozen times as a guest on my wife's Black Pass membership. It's always clean, and there's usually enough machines that you can do what you want even when it's a little busy. She usually tans while I start on the treadmill or the elliptical.

The lockerroom is clean, and there are plenty of lockers to use. Take a lock if you feel you need to secure your belongings. I've never had an issue, but there's nothing of value in my gym bag. They have showers, but there's not enough room to dress in them. If you don't care, you'll just have to get dressed in the open lockerroom with everyone else.

The equipment is usually clean, and most people are courteous enough to wipe it down when they are done. Sometimes one of the cleaning stations will be out of towels, so you have to walk a few feet more to the next one.

We used to enjoy going to the location, but lately not so much. It isn't the gym itself, which is clean and has plenty of equipment, as much as the patrons themselves.
There is way too much lengthy texting between reps, phone conversations and chatter going on, all the while hogging time on the machines..... NOT just senior citizens, as one other review mentioned.
Have some courtesy... if you are there to workout, then do so and get on with your social life elsewhere.

They are just that a building with equipment. Don't sign up and pay your money for the black card if this will be your home gym. They don't have jack but equipment purple walls and the hydro massage equipment but as far as the classes even cardio classes heck forget the personal trainer perk the claim they have not had one in over a year! Save your money free or 10$ is all this facility is worth. It's only this location however the other locations are fabulous and worth it. Joined a month ago and was told I would be given a tour when I had a guest pass. When I walked in, I said I was there for the first time ever with a guest pass. I had an ID and was not asked to show it. Cool. I used the gym and was not given a tour. I became a member anyway. I have never been to a gym and didn't know PF rules. I learned quickly the massage chairs are coin-op only by sitting in one and trying to use it. I walked around and had to show myself around. The place is nice but I wish I had a warmer welcome. I was never given the option of a $10 membership and feel I was ripped off for $25 a month since no one helped me with a membership during my guest visit to Beaver Valley.

Handy location for most of us Beaver Countians, large and spacious, very friendly staff, all around a great gym to work out in. The only reason 4 stars instead of 5- has more to do on the company level and not the Monaca location.
1) Would love to be able to pay monthly dues via credit card, rather than a checking account. Please allow for credit card payment! Checking accounts is so 19th century.
2) The annoying 9pm Friday closing hour and 7pm on weekends, way too early! If you're not going to do 24/7- do at least 10/11pm Fri-Sun. 7pm?!? Really? That's dinner time.
3) ALL the machines that supposedly link with the Life Fitness app don't work (at least at the Monaca location) scanning the QR codes comes back with "UNABLE TO CONNECT Please update the console software. The currently installed version is no longer supported. (L276)" and trying to tap using NFC- phone connects and does nothing. Send a technician to fix that.
4) Instead of a bunch of tanning beds, how about sacrificing just 1 of the tanning rooms for a sauna room? Would much rather have access to a sauna room than a skin cancer bed.

Edit, March 2022. One cable machine down for 2+ weeks. Cable machines are not fully stocked with carabiners. Adjustable benches are all, every one, are missing the rubber feet that keep them in place while in use(safety feature). Blame it on the Pandemic I'm sure. Still a bargain at $10

They do a good job with keeping up with things… except whenever it comes to calling and asking questions. I tried calling for 6 months to find out how I could cancel my membership as to moving many states away. Whenever I finally was told how to get it cancelled I was and still am annoyed. Then I called the gym and the general manager was nothing but rude. As soon as she answered the phone immediately it was anything but nice. I have dealt customer service before and it’s not always easy but it sure as hell doesn’t help whenever you answer the phone with an attitude and extreme unwillingness to help. She was more concerned with being right then just trying to help me with my problem.

Comparing this Planet Fitness to others I have visited. Definitely below average. Paying for a gym membership that is “supposed” to be open 24 hours everyday.. I simply do not understand why said staff member would close at 7 PM on Sunday night! Not only was I one of 10 people that were entering the gym at 6:30 but we were told that the gym was closing at 7 PM and had to leave the building before entering the doors which was locked from the outside. I only wanted to tan…all beds were free and open and would have only took 8 mintues to complete total. By now the time was 20 minutes till close and I was told that I was not allowed and that it was “not gonna happen. “This is not the first time that I have had issues with the ignorant staff at this location. The GM hires nothing but teenagers and young adults that are unqualified and have a little to zero customer service experience. The general manager also does not answer emails that are sent to corporate. I do not recommend anybody going to this location nor giving them your membership. I will be canceling mine.
