I came from another Planet Fitness so can only compare to one other location. Overall, great location, nice staff, clean, good equipment. Plenty of lockers. However, the bathroom/showers are in need of an update. They are serviceable and a good size, but the black toilets (ew), scratched up sinks, slow to warm/crazy spraying shower heads need attention.

I have been a member of this location for more than a decade and I love everything about it! The staff is friendly and the facility is immaculate. The reason for my four star rating is because the Total Body Enhancement machine has been broken for several weeks. I ask about it everyday, and the manager told me she is waiting for maintenance to repair it. I’m hoping it is repaired quickly, as I miss this machine as part of my gym routine.

1st visit the other day. I've visited 4 local planet fitness locations. Really like the setup at this location. The equipment seems updated and different from the others. The only downfall was that I like to tan afterward in the stand-up booth....they only have beds...but of the 3 close to me, this will be where I go.

It's the place that when you ask the person behind the desk to put you on the massage chair she puts down her activity and tells you I have to walk around to other side of the desk and use my phone to scan in. Instead she could have said sure how long and just me on a chair like they do at planet fitness places not owned by this group. Try other locations

I like going here for maintenance work and fill in workouts outside my usual gym. Definitely hit a massage chair almost everytime. Great for sore muscles. Always have had good experiences here...minus staying in the tanning booth too long lol. Definitely listen to the staffs recommendations if its your first time or two tanning. Staff and members are pleasant and kind in all my interactions with them. Wish there was more free weights and/or a grunt safe area to balance the no grunt zone though.

I have been to every planet fitness in the area and this is the worst one as it relates to equipment, machines, and space. The staff is wonderful, and so attentive compared to Royersford. But Unfortunately the treadmills are terrible, the stair masters are always out of order. There’s no space to do your own workout. I don’t understand how the valley forge one is so nice and updated while this one is so bad. There are ZERO good gyms in Phoenixville I find myself driving 20+ minutes everyday just to workout. Planet Fitness, regardless of where, is superior quality for the money.

What I like in Phoenixville:
The Red Light Therapy rooms are well ventilated. I use it religiously for my Fibromyalgia.
There's a nice selection of machines for the 30 minute workout for when you are in a hurry.

The place is kept very clean and the staff are friendly. ​

What I don't like in Phoenixville:
I liked the original hydro tables where I could do my feet.
The rowing machines are no longer next to each other. My friend and I like to row together.
The paper towels & trash cans were removed from the Red Light Therapy room. Also, the bulbs do not get changed quickly when I report them burnt out.
The hook has never been replaced on the 1st stall in the Women's Bathroom.
There are no paper towel dispensers in the Bathrooms. Toilets do not automatically flush. This isn’t a big deal.
Cleaning stations could be so much nicer like in Downingtown.
The stairs are a challenge for anyone rehabbing.

What I like more in Downingtown:
Downingtown cleaning stations are superior to P'ville's.
The weight lifting equipment has nooks to put your phone.
The big monkey-bar-like stretching tower rocks!
The bathrooms have paper towel dispensers and toilets flush automatically.
The Red Light Therapy room has a trash can and disinfecting spray.
Nice selection of things you can purchase.

What I like less in Downingtown:
The room where they have the Red Light Therapy is like a sauna. In summer it's unbearable. It needs a simple exhaust fan for ventilation.

What I like more in Malvern:
The Red Light Therapy has posters that actually explain everything. Thank goodness I was going to Malvern when I first started using RLT. The average person would have NO CLUE about what RLT does or how the booth works.
They make use of the Lunk Alarm!in Malvern. I don't think I have heard it one time in Phoenixville.

What I don't like in Malvern:
It's on two levels. Those doing cardio look down on the weight lifters. That's uncomfortable for me. Also, as stated above, anyone rehabbing has to climb stairs to get to the cardio equipment and to all the Black Card Perks.

A manager told me that there are phasing out the Ted Light Therapy. This is a very bad idea. There is more and more research on the benefits of RLT. You are on of the few places people can go to get RLT. Please don’t stop. It’s good for so many things including Parkinson’s Disease, fibromyalgia, skin (acne, psoriasis, allergies, scar healing, etc.), hair and nail disorders, joints, aches and pains, and when you use the vibrating plates it improves balance, strengthens muscle, and is very good for the lymphatic system.

I started my membership and have been a member of this location for more than 5 years with not many complaints. It is a well-maintained gym with sufficient equipment. I had to move recently and wanted to cancel my membership. When I tried it in-person the first time the system was down and they wanted me to try again later. I called and checked and they said I could do it in-person only and I can cancel it anytime before the monthly payment ran. Despite moving and having to drive again for more than an hour to get there, I was told I should cancel at least 10 days before the payment schedule date. If not, they will charge the membership for another month. I was told something completely different by the person on the phone when called. I tried to reach out to the manager and despite constant emails, I haven't even gotten a response or acknowledgment email till date. Wish I didn't have to leave such reviews, but this might help someone else thinking of canceling their membership to do it well in advance or else be ready to pay another month even if not using.

The staff at the front were helpful with what they could do but it's very disappointing to be able to sign up for a class in the app and then show up to find out there haven't been any classes held at any of the planet fitnesses in the region since Covid. Very disappointing that the app does not reflect the state of the gym since me and another guest were unable to recieve what we signed up for. Thankful that the front desk staff could at least give me a tour of the facilities and answer basic questions even if they can't give any advice on exercise routines. They're the reason this review isn't just one star.

I have been injured, so I have only been able to use my membership for tanning, but I enjoy it so far. I like the smith machine layout, hip adductor and abductor, cable machines. The gym is a bit more spacious than most locations. However, this location could use some upgrading. The treadmills are very old and are even missing cup colder inserts. The floors padding seems very worn out. The lockers within locker room are dirty and rusted and don't appear to be cleaned regularly.

Phoenixville PF is a convienient location near my home and shopping. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. The gym is very clean and you seldom find broken equiment. Only thing I would like is different programming on the TVs. It gets tiring watching the constant overload of news stations. Granted there is HGTV, but how about the Food Network, etc. Something interesting besides god awful news.

I have a black card membership which is the most expensive membership. This allows you to tan and use the message chairs. Every time I come in to take advantage of these members benefits no one is at the front desk. I walk the entire gym to find not a single staff member. I notice this morning there was a framed notice that if you have a black membership you need to have your phone out and scan your membership at Ty e other side of the desk. I thought, oh, okay, maybe this notifies someone that I’m waiting , nope, no one come to help. This is a self serve gym with no customer service. God forbid if someone got hurt or needed something, you are on your own.

I was getting a quick late workout in right before they closed, it was only me and one other person in there on an elliptical. Two times when I unracked the smitch machine for a set of squats they blared the alarm, before I had even done one rep! A little unnecessary in my opinion to blast the alarm while I was adjusting my footing to then start my exercise.

Have been a member for 4+ years and highly recommend. It is clean, quiet and well-maintained. All resistance machines are brand new as of November 2022. They have a ton of cardio equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stair climbers and rowing machines. Even at peak times there are plenty of cardio machines. They do have some free weights, although somewhat limited, but there are plenty of machines, including Smith machines which are nice. There is also a PF 30 minute workout area which is a great way to get used to some of the gear for people who are new to the gym. The staff is friendly and will show you how to get started and use the equipment. It's a great value for the price and a fun, easy and low-key place to work out.

It's okay. The staff is friendly. It has everything you need, although not enough of it. It's too small inside. A larger location would be nice, but there's not much anyone can do about that, I guess. My main complaint is the hours. They're closing at 7 on the weekends and 10 on Friday. I prefer to go later at night, and can't always get there in time before they close. It's also really annoying how many people hard drop the weights and nobody says anything to them. Overall I think I might be looking for a different gym with more accommodating hours. As always, the best part of Planet Fitness is the price.

The place is pretty much a building full of treadmills and ellipticals. It has 4 smith machines and 3-4 benches in front of the free weights. Don’t expect to get any real lifting done. It used to be manageable when it was open 24 hours to get some equipment to yourself. Then they took that away.

Now they’re offering free memberships to teens/students, which is well-intended but it’s SO crowded now. It feels like a slap in the face to paying customers to have to deal with much larger crowds. I’ll be cancelling and going to one of those bougey expensive gyms I guess. At least I’ll be able to actually use the equipment I’m paying for.

Generally, I don't like the Planet Fitness branding (preaching acceptance and safety while shaming a certain type of person), but that's not the fault of this location, ya know?... I just needed to get that out of my system.

This location gets the job done (a decent workout). It is clean and well kept, and the staff is kind. For a while there was a specific employee that would continuously hit on me, give me his number, and ask me out, despite my obvious disinterest. He also looked up my personal info in the PF database. He seems to have left this location, and i'm grateful that no other woman has to deal with that when just trying to get a workout in. I just wish something was done sooner about him. I know I wasn't the only person who had to deal with it.

The process of canceling my membership was incredibly EASY and FAST. Yes, as per company policy you have to do it in person. The person who helped me (Tyreke) was kind and efficient and I haven't had a single problem since.

I have been a previous member of PF in years past. I took time off during the worst of the COVID 19 pandemic. I had knee surgery and a hip replacement in the Spring of this year. After completing my in home and out patient rehab, I still need to strengthen my knee and hip. With the closeness of the Phoenixville facility and the vast collections of machines and free weights, I recently rejoined. Looking forward to continuing my rehab at your location.
