I just joined Planet Fitness as a Black Card member a few weeks ago. So far, I've been having a 5-star experience.

The gym is well-lit and well ventilated, the weights, benches, machines, and cardio equipment are in excellent working order, the staff is professional, friendly and helpful, and the other members are polite and respectful of the equipment and of other members.

Being a Black Card member is well worth the $25 monthly membership fee.

I did have a good experience and 5 stars, until I had to come and hour later the night girl is horrible, the one with the shaved sides has no type of customer service about her, she is rude and so lucky I’m healed. I’m calling corporate tomorrow because I didn’t like how she spoke to my 14 year old. Just disgusting and giving that location a bad name.

Trash cans regularly overflowing, paper towel dispensers left empty, bathrooms are dirty. I have observed that a number of homeless people use this location as a temporary place to shower. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware. The last two times I went there was no soap to wash your hands in the mens bathroom and the last time they had just removed the soap dispensers from the wall and replaced them with nothing. When I asked the front desk they just shrugged like "that's how we roll now". So... people just go #2 and them walk around using equipment without washing their hands? What about employees?? Truly disgusting.

In addition to the soap, the water bottle dispenser was out of order the last time and the only way to get water was to buy bottled from the people at the desk who have no way to properly wash their hands.

The gym is very crowded at peak hours expect a long wait jostling with a bunch of young kids/teens to use a bench after work. On the bright side a membership is half the price of any other gym in the area and it is 24/7.

I was excited to take my friend here and introduce her to Planet Fitness as the Planet Fitness I typically use in Clemmons, NC is immaculate and very orderly. Unfortunately I noticed several things that needed attention here. First of all, there was a lot of built up dust on many of the machines in areas that clients would not typically wipe during their routine workout. In addition some of the machines needed routine maintenance, especially one of the rowing machines which had a severely frayed pull strap. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and attentive. With some attention to detail this could be a much nicer facility.

The manager at this location, Joseph first, is totally useless. Multiple members have complained on many many occasions about people having loud phone conversations while on the treadmill. Conversations is not really what it is. Its the person on the treadmill yelling and berating whoever is on the other end. Since Joseph has paid no attention to this, even though there are signs in the gym saying phones only in lobby, this morning I decided to ask the woman myself to at least stop yelling and I wasn't interested in being in her conversation. She started cursing at me. Joseph came out and came at me, as if I was in the wrong. Why have a rule if you never enforce it? He would rather just play on his phone. That's what he's usually doing when im in there. Actually, this morning the bathroom was disgusting. Instead of cleaning it, he was just on his phone. I quit my membership today. I've been a member 10+ years.

actually really like this gym! always clean, never crowded but the one issue they have is scheduling tanning. if a person schedules for a specific time, they just throw someone else in the bed and then you end up waiting for a time you chose. when you have a busy schedule, this can be frustrating and annoying. they need to fix the system they have atm.

This gym is the worst I have ever visited. The restroom is discussing mold in the showers, the toilets are disgusting, and the lockers are filled with dirt. How are you guys passing your inspections? The staff is rude. I also witnessed the manager and a few staff members make racial remarks about a few guests and employees. I also witnessed the manager racially profile a guest at the gym over his membership. I believe this is highly unprofessional to yell at a person for just entering the gym. My family was there that day, and it was disgusting and distasteful to see. How is this a no-judgment-free zone, and how is this type of behavior acceptable from the manager? I will never come back to this gym again. The West York location is clean, super professional, and has an amazing staff.

My sister went in today around 2-2:30. She asked the maintenance man if he knew where the pillows for the tanning beds were. A worker came out. He said to the worker you can’t understand her all she does is mumble. She doesn’t talk loud enough. The worker just looked at my sister. My sister left with her feelings hurt. She had a stroke a few years back and cannot help this. If I could give this place a 0 I would. When I called to complain I talked to the worker he said this to. You don’t talk about anyone in front of them like that when you work for or with the public. Hopefully next time he thinks before he speaks

**Some new staff, most cleaning stations are empty and you have to work across gym just to get paper towels to wipe equipment. Meanwhile staff is hanging out with each other talking.

Stays busy, sometimes seems like staff slacks on keeping up with paper towels, hand sanitizer, equipment cleaner, and soap in bathroom. Also, wish that they would push people towards wiping down equipment after use and not let people use multiple equipment at 1 time, people seem to be inconsiderate and hold up other people from using equipment. I try to go at later times due to this.

This gym has terrible management! I enjoyed being a part of this gym while I went but after an account issue they raised my rates higher than the advertised rates with no explanation. I requested to cancel my account and they told me only a manager could do it. I contacted the gym over 7 times and none of those times a manager was at the gym and this was even during their supposed scheduled times as the employees told me. They refuse to cancel the account unless the manager does it and I am continued being charged. This is ridiculous I did my end of what the contract states to do to cancel and the gym cannot do their agreed action! Beware to anyone who joins as you may get stuck with a membership for life!!!!!

East York location needs professional cleaning. Men's locker room hasn't been cleaned in 3 days other than trash removal. Remainder of gym looks clean to the untrained eye but needs a more critical eye and higher standards. I've only been a member for 3 days, but these impressions stick.

I started working out at home & only using the facility for tanning & massage for several months. That was even becoming less frequent because it was always so dirty & the staff wasn't very nice to anyone. It was SO different last week when I was there. I've been to quite a few Planet Fitness locations around the country with my Black Card membership. This location is my favorite one so far. Great layout, plenty of equipment. For example, most places only have two rowing machines. They have four. Everything was in good repair. It's also a 24/7 location. It's very handy for travelers like me.

What to like? I dunno, everything about the place exceeded what I expected. The size, the variety of equipment, the number of machines, the cleanliness, the sense of privacy, all of it. I've only been going for about 2 weeks and have not yet come close to using everything available with my Black Card membership, but I will definitely keep coming back. I already feel physically stronger and mentally better about myself. The technology and connectivity that is available to either use or not is yet another bonus I'm looking forward to exploring.

WARNING!!! I was looking into getting a Planet Fitness membership for 4 months; that is all I need it for. The more I looked the more predatory this "low cost" gym appears. 1) The startup fee on special is $0.24 and the low tier plan is $10 per month. So far so good, but things quickly take a turn. 2) You cannot sign up at the gym, you must download the mobile app. Okay, whatever? 3) The app requires a lot of unnecessary information for a gym membership. I looked up their privacy policy online. Big surprise, they are selling your information to data brokers. You should expect a ``sharp increase of spam calls, emails, and flyer in the mail. 3) You must give Planet Fitness a credit card number and direct access to your bank account as well. Weird for a gym right! This makes it easier for Panet Fitness to keep billing after you stop going. 4) There is a $40 annual fee. An obvious way to hide some of the cost of membership. 5) Planet Fitness advertises “Cancel anytime.” However, this gets complicated. 6) You cannot just quit on the mobile app like you signed up. You must fill out a specific letter that you must then either deliver to the gym or mail in as a certified letter. By adding these steps they add delay to the cancellation process which mean they keep building you 7) The letter must contain your social security number and driver license number; neither of which are part of the application that I can tell. This is necessary, so what are they doing with that information? 8) You will be billed a cancelation fee of $14, and another $58 if you cancel within the first year 9) You are likely to be charged for the month following the cancellation as well depending on when they process the cancellation.

One of the store supervisors/managers (A short Hispanic man of around 30 who has short black hair) called the police on me and my friend over taking the wrong clothes from the public locker room. The police were very understanding and obviously no charges were filed, but I received no apology or even my clothes (which are apparently lost) from the Planet Fittness staff. I have just canceled my membership today after waiting for them to reach out in courtesy in anyway.

Also, the Rep responded to my original review (see below) by telling me I should have checked with the individual store about their hours. I did. They claimed to be 24/5 when in reality they are only open 24 hours for 4 days out of the week.
