Plenty of cardio machines but in the free weight section there was 2-4 teenagers per bench .. it was just packed with people & during off peak hours I can’t imagine peak gym hours . So I am now going to a different planet fitness . Same owner .. kept very clean and staff are great .

Update now that I've been going here for a few months:
- Equipment is dusty
- 50% of the time, paper towel dispensers are empty
- Also 50% of the time, trashcans are overflowing
- The women's bathroom will have water all over the sink and spots on the floor (between the stalls and sinks).

They have a bunch of high school/college kids as their staff and you can tell, considering the gym's cleanliness and upkeep. My statement still stands below, that the facility will do, but I guess the PF that I moved away from set the standard high.

Original review: It will work. Locker rooms are huge and clean. There are 6 smith machines but every other weight lifting machine only has one of its kind. Other PF gyms I've been to had at least 2 of their most popular ones. The stretching room is tiny. You can fit probably 9 stretching mats at one time before blocking areas (not ideal). The three different sections of dumbells is a little weird of a set up. They definitely could have had the front jungle gym corner a little smaller, allowing more room for stretching areas or additional machines. And as always, just like every gym, there is a ridiculous amount of cardio machines. Although they have all new equipment, I was surprised to see them without some popular machines that other PF gyms have.

Overall, it's an okay gym. The mens locker room is always very dirty and the bathroom floors and sinks are always soaked in water and urine. The trash cans are always full and overflowing with trash.
The staff is always hanging out at the front desk on their phones rather than monitoring the gym and enforcing the rules.
We previously went to the Manchester PF, which was always very clean and well maintained. The staff there regularly monitored the gym and was constantly dusting and spraying down/wiping the equipment and machines.
On the gym floor there is not enough equipment. Only 1 of many machines, while many other PF have 2 of most machines.
This PF just seems old and dirty compared to many others in the area. Unfortunately it is the closest to our house, so it is now our home gym.

Make sure to cancel online to ensure you get an email confirmation! I cancelled almost a year ago in person. I recently thought to open a membership again, when I tried making an account through the app I was prompted that I already had a profile. When I got signed in, to my surprise there’s a $214 balance I owe because after cancelling they continued trying to take payments from a bank account that didn’t even exist anymore and adding late fees on top of it. When I call in to ask what can be done I’m told nothing and somehow blamed me for their error and they wouldn’t even allow me to “cancel” again while actively on the phone with them. When did it become practice to charge someone seemingly forever instead of cancelling a service they aren’t receiving payment for? I don’t get to keep using my internet service if they went months without receiving some type of payment. Their model is 100% predatory and thank goodness I caught it when it was at $200 and not 1000+. So if you cancel just trust yourself and do it online, avoid depending on planet fitness employees to do their job properly at all costs.

Second, and las time I’ll go here . Tanning beds were nasty, the two girls at the desks attitude were nasty. If you don’t want to wait 2 hours to use any perks then you should stop by, reserve a time slot and come back. Somebody needs to hand those girls a broom and dustpan and get cracken. Be very careful about signing up for a membership here. They apparently outsource their billing operations to ABC Fitness Solutions, and that company will charge you exorbitant “late” fees on top of membership fees.

I’ve been disputing charges now for two months. I canceled my membership at my home gym, and provided proof of cancellation to ABC Fitness Solutions. But they continue to bill my account, and deferring me to cancel at this gym, even though I already canceled.

Planet Fitness support has not responded. Neither has management from any gym. At this point, it feels like outright fraud.

Not my favorite gym. It's pretty dirty with hair and dust all over the floor every time I go. The staff do not keep the paper towels and spray filled, and they do not enforce the rules in the circuit area even when asked.

Update - They did a small remodel and have definitely abandoned their original strategy in favor of the gym bros. They took out the equipment that was easy to use and setup for regular people to get into a routine and added more weight equipment for the gym bros.

My wife just joined a few months ago along with an adult with disabilities that we are caretakers for. The equipment is great, the staff are great. She’s been enjoying it. HOWEVER the credit card we have on file is fine and in good standing, but we were charged a late fee $15 on the adult with disabilities account! No one could solve it. The credit card is fine. The monthly charge was processed, but there is a backend processing delay on planet fitness - and we were charged. There is no phone number to call. No one at the desk can help. Now we have to cancel our membership. What is wrong with you????

What is there not to like about my experience. The employees, the other guests, everything at this location is just great. Carter and Zen always make me feel welcome (as well as the rest of the staff, regardless of what time I come in). Bro, EVERYTHING I TOUCHED WAS BROKEN!
I came in pretty much just for a shower, #skoolieroadtrip!

-I briefly sat on a cycle, and casually noticed that the heads up was broken.

-Sometimes I get dizzy so I need to use the sit down stall, and the shower had a broken flex line, so while you are sitting there trying to wash, the wall mount is spraying you periodically in the face.

-Tried to get a massage, scheduled it on the kiosk, and there was no attendant, anywhere to be found. Looked and looked, finally found someone in the locker rooms, apparently, they make individual FEMALE attendants, work OVERNIGHT, by THEMSELVES!!? And they are required/expected to go and clean the locker rooms, by themselves, over night!?

-Massage chair was broken and made violent cracking/popping sounds as you can literally feel the knobs popping off the tracks!

-for some reason there were 2 separate pairs of abandoned, used, boxers, in misc locations?! Is this a thing???

Instead! Go to the other planet fitness in york!! Had a reasonable 4 star experience last time I was there, and is also a 24/7 location.

Yeah, ok. I usually do restaurants and “normal” business reviews, but even I have to stay in shape! Let me tell ya, the biggest thing, single biggest reason, that I stopped going to the gym was because people legitimately would laugh and make fun of me. Not going to hide that fact; I was a big boy!

However, while I can’t speak for other PF locations, this one NEVER made me feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or like I was bothering anybody. In fact, I felt more like I was just a new member of the family and folks were just waiting for me to initiate conversation. Well, enough about the abstractions and on to the meat and potatoes.

This location is SPOTLESS. I served 6 years in the USAF and I absolutely loved Tyndall’s gym. But it always had a smell and equipment wasn’t always being cleaned after use. And that is one of (or was one of) the Air Force’s premier gyms. Not the West York Planet Fitness though! This place is so clean for a gym. It smells clean, looks clean, and I never saw a single person not wipe down the equipment after use. And dear lord don’t get me started on the FREE tanning, FREE massage chairs, and the FREE hydro massage chairs. The bathrooms? Yeah: NO STAINS IN THE GROUT. For all my contractor readers and DYI’ers out there, you know how hard that is.

10/10, am going as often as the wife allows.

I have been a member of the West York Planet Fitness since 2008. I have seen much turnover with employees, which should tell corporate they need to increase the incentive to want to work there. However, through these transitions, the West York facility has updated equipment, for the most part the gym is kept clean, and most importantly, West York is open on a consistent basis which makes it convenient to access for people to attend. Thank you to all that have worked at the West York facility and for providing members the ability to utilize the gym for their individual needs. The good: clean gym, great price. It is so nice to see affordable options for those looking to workout! Especially in this economy. The staff I have talked with have been friendly.

The bad: staff seriously needs to actually check the 30 minute express circuit. I walked in today to at least 5 staff members chilling at the front desk. I headed back to the circuit area. One dude was camped out on a machine when I got there. He stayed there on that same machine for 20 mins or more, texting and playing with his phone, occasionally actually using the machine, throwing people off circuit. I had to basically stand and stare at two others who decided to camp on the next machine I was using. Then, I nearly completed my circuit, it was just me and one woman. She was using the same machine through several light cycles. I kept getting nearer and nearer and she never moved. When it was my time for the machine, I admit, my patience was already gone from the three others in the span of 25 mins, she looked at me like I was from Mars and stayed on the machine despite me mentioning its circuit only. She may genuinely have had no clue about the circuit, who knows. Maybe even larger signage is needed. Point is, where was staff? I was in the gym for 40 mins, never once did a staff member cruise by the circuit area. And in fact, every single time I've come in the last few days since joining, there have been people camped out in the circuit area. I shouldn't have to confront multiple people each time I am working out. There are people who use the machines without doing the circuit, cool. They leave as soon as you get to the station, or work around you. All good. But the camping out? I work full time. I'm un grad school. I'm super shy and non confrontational. I just want to work out, deal with stress and not have to beg people to move from machines.
