We cancelled the membership to this gym for one that was closer. They told us everything would be taken care of and we were ok. Rascals proceeded to send us to collections without any communication. We gladly would have paid any owed balance. Would not recommend based on this poor treatment

I love Rascals! We have been members for about three months now. The facilities are clean and the staff is so nice.
We spend two hours a week with a personal train and one hour by ourselves. We are enjoying the results as we both already feel a lot healthier!
I know there are plenty of gym options in our area, but I would not hesitate to recommend Rascals!

Stupid rules and dress code. Not a place for people who actually lift.

My wife and I have been at this gym for almost 5 years. WAS the perfect gym, plenty of cardio equipment, some free weights, and good assortment of weight machines. Walked in tonight to do my usual workout and half my usual machines were replaced by some jungle gym looking monstrosity. I am sure its a fine cross fit training gizmo but what few machines were left are pushed together in a pile of metal. There is also some chiropractic room eating up space that nobody ever uses. Between the useless room and jungle gym, half the gym is taken up.
I am looking for a quick evening workout 3 nights a week on a treadmill and a few Cybex weight machines. Time to look for a new gym this weekend. After talking to a few others...we wont be the only ones leaving. Sad...really liked it there.
Update (11/25/18):
Thank you Rascals for the advice. You are correct….the issue was CHANGE. I took your advice and changed gyms from Rascals to a new exciting gym right down the street. The change was refreshing…changed my monthly fees to much lower fee…changed my selection of equipment to more options than I could have imagined. So many changes!
The other change is the new gym has a judge free policy unlike my last gym (Rascals) that referred to me as “vindictive, pouty, and afraid of change” when I offered some feedback to hopefully improve the gym.
On another note…I wouldn’t feel too bad about spending money on that new cross train machine…my new gym has one of those and I have not seen anyone use that one either. Nevertheless, not my thing but I have so many other options….in fact 2 of every option. Change is good!

Equipment and machines were good enough to get in a workout, but member cancellation is terrible. Additional charge for cancelling

This gym is excellent for any age. They offer different specials, and I have taken advantage of the college student special. It costs me just $75 for the entire Summer (May-end of August). There is a great variety of equipment available from free weights to cardio machine. It’s a clean and fun atmosphere. Exercise classes are also offered here. I love the Zumba class!

I couldn’t exercise for 4 months due to illness and started back about 3 weeks ago. I took the cycling class at 8am with Donna and I loved that class. It was just what I needed to get back. Loved it. Great job please add another class same time different day. I will encourage friends to take it. It’s that good

This is a great gym. The only problem is it seems that the clothing policy only applies to men and not women.

Small gym Smith machines are always garbage no matter where they are. They will double charge of you're not watching and it's a very odd process to quit this gym.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere makes Rascals my number one work out gym. Never over crowded, not your typical gym crowd here, just pretty decent people getting in shape with great equipment to help you accomplish that.

The facilities are fine. The staff, sort of friendly. Be sure to read your contract. Don't move, don't lose your card and don't cancel a membership. It's pretty common with these lot rate places to have an exit fee since if you decide to leave because it is so cheap to join.
But they asked that I mail in my card along with a letter. All well and good but I lost my card 1 year into the membership and I've been there over two years. They wanted $15 to replace the card and since they would check me in when I went to work out I figured why bother spending the $15.
I'm now not able to attend because I have changed jobs and there are no locations near my job or my house. There is no reciprocal agreement with another club or if there is nobody bothered to say so.
I went to cancel my membership in person and they would not cancel it, it had to be done by mail. As I said, read the contract. I didn't read it closely and this is the result. Buy the key $15, cancel the membership $25, goodby and don't let the door hit you in the a**.
So they have insured themselves at leas another month by making you mail in your membership cancellation. Understand there are only two locations, the owners and managers are at one of the locations much of the time and you still have to mail in your cancellation. Really, that's pretty bogus and very bad should I move again where there is another gym nearby.
Customer service, I think not. You would think they would understand that an individual has been a member for over 2 years that they would thank you for the business and say "sorry to see you go, I understand you will no longer be in the area" and maybe have a conversation or recommendation to another club that is not a 1hr drive. But that's not the case here and to me that says a lot about the owner or franchisee.
I'll still work out faithfully but never with anybody that is affiliated with Rascals.
