They just added boxing classes and equipment. Love this gym! Plus the have a cute mascot puppy named Gunther. Great equipment and super clean. Highly recommended and I have worked out at every local gym.

Retro Fitness has been an amazing experience ever since I became a member last summer. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Luigi, Ed, and Geno know many of their members by name! The gym staff also takes pride in keeping the equipment clean and in great condition. The gym provides towels and sanitizer to wipe down the equipment which is
a great feature.This is also a great spot for anyone who wants to perform olympic or traditional lifts (there are plenty of bumper and standard plates). Most importantly, the atmosphere is always welcoming. Whether it is the staff or other gym members, is it the epitome of a local, friendly, clean, gym.

I was a member of Anytime Fitness in Newton Square before joining Retro. At first I liked it. I met a lot of people, and some became friends. Little did I know the owner didn’t want to take care of his business anymore. Most equipment was not working, no toilet paper, nothing to clean the equipment with. Owner didn’t do anything. It was closed shortly after.
Joining Retro was a no brainer. Less money, but more equipment. Always clean. Always someone at the front desk to welcome you. Everyone there is so nice. Very professional as well. I suggest Retro to anyone.

This gym has been amazing since being allowed to open. I've been a member for over 6 months now and I have nothing bad to say about this place. The owners are top notch and they really care about the quality of their equipment and the cleanliness of the gym. Highly recommend.

From the second I walked into this gym I loved it. Not only is the staff friendly, not only is it cleaner than an operating room, not only is it fully equipped with all the equipment you could ever need, the design of the whole facility is entirely unique and modern. It looks like a gym out of a movie or something.

Also, everyone knows the culture of the gym is just as important as the equipment and staff, and I have to say the people here are friendly, respectful and enjoyable to be around. It is a deeply motivational gym on so many levels, and I really enjoy going there.

Yes it’s a “chain” gym, but it doesn’t feel that way. It feels like a local hangout where people get together to improve themselves. At the end of the day, it’s a gym you truly look forward to going to, and what else can you ask for from a gym?

First of all... Retro Fitness has an AMAZING gym! Lots of different machines, CLEAN and sanitary and not to mention, the tanning room and hydro massage machines are all in impeccable shape and are always clean as well.
The staff at the gym are so super friendly and are always helpful. Retro Fitness is the best gym I have been to in years and I excited to go back daily!
Generally, Retro Fitness is clean, quiet, and has a super welcoming energy. The layout is great, the staff great and the workout environment is amazing...
I have never been so excited to work out since I've discovered this place !!!!!

Good decent size gym at a good price. Only complaints are... that when it first started the hours were from 5am-11pm. My schedule forces me to workout sometimes at 5am and as late as 10pm. Because of this I’ll be cancelling my membership soon. Secondly, the cables are all terrible. They’re much much heavier than any other cable. Also some of them are very loose and when you’re working out you can feel the cable giving too much slack and messes with your workouts. Been this way since they’ve opened.

I’ve been temporarily moved to this location due to Philadelphia gyms being closed from COVID. Owner has been very accommodating through this process which has been appreciative. This gym is deceptively HUGE. They have up to date equipment, and a very clean facility. Love it, I hate to say I think I like it more than my Philadelphia location.

My girlfriend and I joined a few here weeks ago. I needed a gym closer to home and she wanted a place she could feel comfortable and not overwhelming crowded. The gym delivers here on both fronts. Peak hours at other gyms can be annoying having to wait but not here. At max there’s maybe 10-12 people in the gym at a time and it’s very quiet. Facility is very clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly, prices are good and the gym is decently equipped. Some band pegs for the deadlift platform and squat racks, a competition height bench and maybe a SSB and I’d maybe just train here from now on.

THE BEST GYM EVER!!! It was the best experience I ever had with a gym! The place is always so clean and all the equipment is new and nice. I’m a person that doesn’t like going to the gym too much, but I needed to lose weight for my wedding, that is when I started taking the TEAM classes and it was the best choice I ever made. I lost almost 17 pounds and a lot measurement and I definitely give Eric a lot of credit for helping me getting there. I took a few classes with Ed too and seriously it was AWESOME! They are super friendly, they give you the best guidance and motivation. It broke my heart to cancel my membership because I’m living too far away now and I can’t find any gym like that around me. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Retro Fitness and specially TEAM CLASSES!

The new Retro Fitness Center in Newtown Square is easily accessible: 4845 West Chester Pike. This fitness center has two levels of exercising equipment, parking is easy and the staff is friendly. We like Retro Fitness because the OTHER fitness centers are overcrowded and dirty with poor customer service.
A new fitness center has the state-of-the-art fitness equipment. The place is well maintained.
Health is wealth. When you look good, you feel great!

I am an experienced fitness center member of many gyms. At this Retro Fitness Center, just opening after the quarantine lift, I was impressed in how management kept this gym so clean. Every other thread mill and elliptical machine was closed off for spatial distancing. There were Purell wipes everywhere. Also, there were hand sanitizers in the rest rooms and gym members wiped the machines before and after and maintained distancing. Furthermore, I personally observed the staff to periodically do extra wiping on the apparatuses. Everyone wore a face masks during exercising.

At home, I sat down so much during the quarantine times that my back hurts. If I do not keep up with my health, I can not fight illnesses such as covid-19 or other health matters. The owners at this gym are great, thanks.

I’ve been a member since September, and it has everything I want in a fitness center.

However one small thing that irks me. It’s common courtesy to wipe down a piece of equipment after using it, and there are signs everywhere asking you to do so. The wipes they provide are beyond terrible. They are light as a tissue and when you try to wipe any machine they get all bunched up and fall apart as you are wiping.

I like clean equipment, but for gods sake provide us members with capable a little heavier wipes. You wouldn’t have to use so much and I’m sure more people would comply with the courtesy rule.

I have been a member of this location since they opened. It's clean, welcoming and offers all state of art equipment plus more for a really good price! The staff is always welcoming, accommodating, and knows their members names even before you swipe your card! The owners make it a point to say "Hello" and ask about how you are making out with your fitness goals, etc... They are also VERY open to suggestions.

I saw the comment above about their dog Gunther in the facility who I believe happens to be a service dog, so this would NOT be illegal. And I have to say that he is the BEST part about this gym and most of the other members would agree with me! He is gentle and very friendly so there is absolutely NOTHING dangerous about him. You will RARELY seem him out on the floor so I doubt the allergens would be that bad. I am also allergic to dogs and this does not bother me or my son one bit, who by the way, also attends the daycare there. Sounds like this lady might be writing a mean review based on bias.

Excellent facility. I am really glad I went INSIDE and checked it out, because it doesn't look like much from the outside. However, when you step inside, you quickly see a beautiful facility with brand new equipment throughout and a great layout. I've been super impressed with the staff and the owners (who are often present).
Erik was the trainer who took me through a personal assessment - very knowledgeable and really nice guy. I use to attend Ellis Athletic Center -- and it's not bad -- but it doesn't compare to Retro -- glad I switched. I highly recommend it!

Been a member from the start. The staff is helpful and open to suggestion. The ownership is on site and that is a big deal for me. Cleanliness is another big deal and it is clean. The coaching and training team is great Ed leads a great team of dedicated trainers. They do care about the clients. Check the place out it is worth joining. Get off your butt and move a little.

Retro fitness in Edgmont is a great place to join. The staff is super friendly. The owners are awesome and want members to be fully satisfied. The equipment is top notch. The gym is clean and usually pretty empty. It's lacking in some equipment but has some things my old gym didn't have as well. Sometimes the music is way too loud, it actually hurts my ears. I try to listen to music in my headphones when I work out but I can't hear my own music over the gym's. Overall, I'm happy with it and plan on cancelling other memberships.

The Retro Fitness gym is fantastic! The price is reasonable, the equipment is state-of-the art brand new and the trainers are knowledgable and friendly.
This is a "Cadillac" gym at an affordable and fair price. I feel very comfortable here and the staff is always willing to help if I have questions. Unlike other fitness centers I've used in the past, this gym ALWAYS has several fitness trained staff available throughout the day.The facility, including restrooms, is clean and the equipment is well maintained. I cannot say enough praise for this gym.

Was in for the first time tonight. Not crowded so easy to get familiar with and use all the equipment. Love the cardio machines - very modern and lots of feature. Tiera (sp?) was working while I was in and she was very helpful, answered all my questions since it was my first time in, and was friendly.

It would be nice if there were some set times where you could meet with someone just to learn some of the pieces of equipment that people might be unfamiliar with. I know the training area has several things I’ve not had as a feature in previous gyms.

This gym is super nice and very clean! The owners are so friendly and accommodating. I was telling my husband I needed water before we left and without skipping a beat, one of the owners grabbed me a cup of ice with filtered water! I’m so impressed and hope their business here is successful!
