Overall I enjoy this Y, wide variety of exercise equipment , staff are friendly if not often helpful. My gripe is that decisions are made without any member input. Most recently a sink in the exercise area has been removed which had been frequently used by members for hand washing during and after exercise sessions. Now when both restrooms are occupied , a common occurrence, you can’t wash your hands. Frequently used equipment just disappears, to be replaced by other unused machines. There is never any warning that these changes will be made, and questions after the fact are met with a shrug. It’s frustrating.

Cleanliness is the most important thing to me. If any members unnecessarily trash it, they should be banned. Nothing compared to LA in Broomall. That place is grotesque.

I have been a member at my gym for 24 years, but since their lack of classes, workers not knowing how their gym is run, and the run down appearance at one of their gyms, I have cancelled my membership and am now a member with your YMCA!
I truly am impressed with the spotless, cleanliness of the whole building from floor to ceiling and blown away from the various different workout classes you offer, how incredible the instructors are with teaching and how they start right on time with each class! It is more money for me every month and a little farther to get to but what I am getting in return is so worth it.
Thank you so much. I have 2 friends coming this week to check it out and may be joining!!!

Just joined about a month ago. I've been to a lot of gyms over the years. I have never encountered such friendliness by the staff, and even the other members. I seems to meet some one new every time i go. Great classes, equipment and pools (which i havent tried yet!!). Really happy i joined there!!

Review: Serious Safety and Management Concerns During Lap Swim Hours

I’ve been a member for years and swim laps four nights a week. However, tonight was a clear and alarming example of poor management and a complete disregard for safety protocols.

All five lap lanes were scheduled and open for lap swimming, yet a group of unsupervised children—none wearing wristbands—were allowed to run wild in the pool. They were diving into the shallow end, jumping into active lanes, and nearly colliding with swimmers turning at the wall. All of them appeared to struggle with basic swimming and could have been seriously injured or even drowned.

Despite multiple complaints, the lifeguards on duty did nothing. They appeared intimidated, unwilling, or unprepared to enforce basic rules. Meanwhile, adult swimmers were left waiting on deck with only an hour remaining before close.

There was a therapy pool open—an appropriate space for play—but it went unused, while the designated lap pool turned into a dangerous, chaotic scene. No parents were present to supervise the children, all of whom looked under 10 years old. These are clear violations of posted rules.

This isn’t just a one-time concern. It’s part of a larger pattern of disorganization and poor oversight, particularly during evening hours. The facility feels understaffed, undirected, and unsafe.

Management needs to take this seriously. This facility is not being run with the professionalism or accountability expected of a community YMCA. Immediate attention and corrective action are needed before someone gets hurt—or worse.

These teenagers they got working as lifeguards are lazy and close the pool every chance they get. Don’t go AT ALL if it even LOOKS cloudy. Got all the way there with my 2 year old daughter just for them to shut the pool down as we were walking in, over supposed “lightning and thunder” that was non existent. Im always concerned about my child’s safety but in this situation there was literally nothing wrong with the weather, the lifeguards just didn’t want to work. Whats the point of paying $200 a month for people that don’t want to do their job. Definitely ready to cancel membership if it keeps happening because this for sure isn’t the first time. Some situations are serious and understandable, but 9 times out of 10 they closing the pool down for absolutely NO reason.

Seriously one of the best YMCAs on the east coast.
I've been to dozens up and down the region and this location NAILS it 🔨
Hot tub, giant sauna, giant pool, giant indoor waterpark, giant gym, giant indoor track, giant outdoor walking track, giant forested trail in the back... 🌳
The staff are awesome, just make sure to tell them "Nationwide" if you're from out if state.
I've had some of the best and most fun workouts here!!!

Things are going down hill at Rocky Run YMCA! Although the place is clean and a great facility, the rules of proper adequate are not enforced. Members sit on circuit machines for too many sets w/o a care; phones in hand waiting to do their next set. All male dominated basketball courts with screaming profanity, throwing balls and kicking walls. This does not exemplify a family facility! Grow a backbone and start holding members accountable for their behavior!

Source: Google

★ 1

I have been a longtime member and have been very disappointed lately. Walking above the Basketball court is unsettling as you can witness roughness, cursing, arguing , pushing, fighting. Also men dominating circuit machines for a lengthy time, on their phones, won’t allow you to get on when you ask. I have verbalized this before to the Y and nothing has been done, like signage stating “2 sets and move to the next machine”. I end up just leaving every time.

We recently signed up for a YMCA membership, specifically for our daughter’s swimming lessons. Before enrolling, we were assured by a staff member (Dan) that we could sign her up for lessons if we called by October 16th. When we did, we were told the lessons were full and that our membership wasn’t eligible. This feels discriminatory, and even after speaking with the manager, we were not offered any understanding or solutions. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and doesn’t comply with fair service practices.

Nothing bad that I can say about this place, I absolutely love it. I wish that the daycare center did stay open a little later than 12 p.m. for those late-afternoon early-evening workout junkies that need childcare while they get a workout in. That is absolutely lovely here, the family swim area reminds me of a mini resort for kids. They really took the scales when it comes to offering an amazing gym experience at the YMCA, MY MEDICAL PAYS FOR IT BUT EVEN IF MY MEDICAL DIDN'T PAY FOR IT I WOULD PAY FOR IT MYSELF.

We went to this location to check out because my brother wanted to try out the water slide. When we got there, this slide was not open yet and we were about to do laps but met Mike who we talk to you for a bit about the different ski mountains in Vermont where we used to live. He went to see when this lad was going to be opening up and the guards were just going to do it then. Great timing. The slide actually banks like a real waterside and does its actually banked because it is a real one, not some others we have been on that are just a tube.
Mike even checked in on us when we were doing laps to see if it was up to our expectations and it definitely was. My daughter even said that we should sponsor this guy

This y does not do a very good job of utilizing all the features marketed. When I think of a YMCA, I think of a place where you can play basketball whenever you want throughout the day. This Y finds any excuse to totally push aside the basketball community and makes the gyms available for day camps or pickle ball. This is just very inconsiderate as about 50% of the Y comes only to use the basketball courts. and these members actually pay hard earned money for a membership here just to not even be able to use a basketball court. Please do better.

Source: Google

I pay $40 a month for this y and I don’t even have access to the basketball gym at least 4 times a week. This is unacceptable and they make enough money to extend their property or use other spaces for the summer camp. They already have pickle ball Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on the other days they either have Gymnastics or summer camp or soccer in the way. I jus want to play basketball and I can’t even do that.

The facility is well-equipped with changing rooms, showers, and lockers, making it easy to get ready before and after your swim. I have had some bad experiences in therapy pool. I.am.70 yr old handicapped woman and have had issues with woman who gives classes...I have had issue with member who was on steps exercising who I asked politely to let me get by and said no and Mike did nothing after I told him about it....a severely challenged young man was deaf and blind and mentally challenged who was flailing around dangerously and had actually hit me several times plus in the head...not his fault but his caregiver was not paying attention reading a book. It happened 2x. Nobody did anything...the boy needed supervision with caregiver in pool plus members like myself should of been told about this handicapped boy and stayed clear of his area at 5 ft part....no plan..no communication and when i said something to.lifeguard I got this attitude like i was a mean person...omg...the pool was an unorganized nightmare and other women in locker room were complaining bc it happened before plus they heard woman deny me entrance into.pool....Icalled a mgr from home and was told i would b contacted but no one did...i.am upset...

So today we got to the ymca at 6pm. As soon as we got into the pool area they were shutting it down because someone (a worker) said that they saw lightning. There was no lightning, rain, or thunder prior to me coming in. So my children and I went to the near by wawa. So I'm looking around still no lightning, rain, or thunder. So we go back. The pool is still closed. I asked to speak to the manager. I asked him were they opening back up the pool. He said " the pool has to be closed for 30 minutes before reopening". I asked what time do they close. He said 7pm. I said that's fine. He called his associates who work in the pool area to confirm. They told him their done for the day. So he's telling me it's their call and it's nothing that he can do. I told him it was kind of a long drive and my children were really looking forward to getting into the pool. He said that he's sorry it's just the way of nature. It's just really frustrating when some workers take the rules into their own hands. Even if it was only 15 or 30 minutes that they let the kids swim, that would've been fine. I even asked if that was ok. He said their not going to open the pool for 15 minutes. My kids love the ymca and usually it's a good time but I feel like today they just wanted leave early. Its 6:30 and still no lightning, rain or thunder.

This was one of the best YMCA’s around. It is truly a class facility with multiple pools, including a kids area, two gymnasiums, weight rooms, work out areas and a general fitness area with dozens of TV’s. But the class rooms, baby sitting and day care really make it much more like a government facility with much more rules and regs. But they’ve recently gone “woke”. Pukey and tied to government edicts and program. So much for private non profit enterprise Ugh.
