Hard to find the YMCA. It is in the old hospital building. The sign banner on Sproul Rd is faded. There is no signage once you turn off Sproul, Turn Right!
Continue to the parking garage - no charge. The YMCA is only accessed by the parking garage 1st level. There is no signage just double doors. Inside a small overhead sign directs you to the YMCA. Lazy YMCA, get it together!

I had a very disappointing experience at the YMCA Springfield Child Watch today. When I arrived with my three children to the child watch, the staff did not greet us, introduce themselves, or make us feel welcome. My children were not included in activities and were left playing alone while the other children danced together. My daughter even told me that the staff said hello to everyone except them. As a parent, this was extremely upsetting and felt discriminatory. This behavior is unacceptable, and it left a very negative impression. I will not be sending my children back. Please be very mindful when thinking about sending your children to this child watch if they are brown. My children was discriminated against.

Your front desk and floor staff are outstanding! I had a rather unfortunate and unprofessional experience with Kelly Corey though. I asked the desk if I coukd pop-in to ask her a question relating to the CEO. I was quickly dismissed and shooed away as she said "Get out, sorry not sorry but I want to go home... and my computer just turned off." She promptly picked up her back pack and keys, locked the door and left without saying goodbye to anybody. I have heard some stories about her behavior and rudness from fellow members, but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. She is probably one of the rudest individuals I have ever come across

Great equipment and class content but schedule needs to have later times
(more post dinner time).
The facility is very dirty…unwiped windows, dirty floors, wet/smelly bathrooms. As a newer member, I was shocked at the lack of cleanliness especially with high membership fees (compared to other local gyms and other YMCA locations)

Unfortunately, my recent experience at the Springfield YMCA was disappointing. I stood at the front desk for about 30 minutes with two babies under two, and My sister waiting to renew my membership, and the staff, though present, were extremely slow and disorganized. One staff member in particular — a white male with a short haircut and a large water jug always nearby — was especially unaccommodating. (I think his name was Gus.) His constant movement and lack of focus made it clear that customer service was not a priority.
When he finally processed my renewal, I was told I could only pay with exact change or use a card already on file — a very inconvenient and outdated policy. I also asked for a quick tour of the facility and about signing my two boys up for classes, but instead of helping, I was met with vague responses and resistance.
This experience made what should’ve been a simple task incredibly frustrating. I had hoped to restart my membership and get involved in classes, but it felt like they were making it impossible. I won’t be returning, especially since my membership was already on hold and this could have been resolved easily with more efficient and accommodating staff.

Wish I would have read the more recent reviews before going- the facility is rather unclean and overall out dated. The locker rooms are enormous but there is carpet throughout and surfaces are always wet. There’s a strong mold/mildew scent that hits you in the face once you walk into the women’s locker room ( my bf said the same about the men’s). The stairwells and floors are dirty. They really need to increase their cleaning staff or frequency.
Our interactions with staff have not been pleasant. They’re quite rude and unhelpful- a big change since it was the Healthplex previously.

Been a long standing YMCA family member for 10+ years. I travel a lot and it's a good enough value to be your home gym. Moved to Haverford 3 months ago and I've been using both this location and the Haverford location. Now , allegedly , I can only use the Springfield Y during the week between 5-5 and no weekend usage. The cleanliness of this location had our family questioning keeping our membership , but the rudeness and ridiculous fine print seals the deal. Better options to support with your money .
EDIT: They mention they can not find me in their data base, however, their clerk at the counter pulled up my information right from my tag yesterday. Been using this facility for months. Sauna and locker rooms with wet carpet are in the basement next to the racquet ball courts. I'm sure if you use a tad more effort you can find my information easily. Your poster is conveniently hidden off to the side, far from obvious.

I started going to Health Plex in 1997. The YMCA would do well putting lights in hallway leading to facility entrance. Feels a bit dark and dingy. Also, an overall cleaning would really help. I go there to use the track. Yard, pickleball and school event courts seem to have no regard for walkers and runners on track. I am a walker and have been using the far right skinny lane next to runners lane because I have been shoved 4 times out of walker lane when things get active on the other side of the separation curtain. Also find people hanging at track windows reading there phones for my lengthy periods of time. Unfortunately, not like it used to be.

I usually like this gym, but I have concerns about the guest policy. It stinks. I understand why you can’t bring the same guest over and over again constantly, but I have a friend staying for 2 weeks and can only go in 3 times as we both usually go to the gym every day, and I use most of my guest passes. I called and asked to see if they could accommodate (even in payment), but they wouldn’t. I’m a college student, and my friends always visit; I find it hard to continue my membership if I can’t bring my college friends to the gym if they’re staying for weeks at a time.

I have been overcharged. Had terrible service from management Brian McGee. My bank account was overcharged for 3 months. Then after trying to cancel my YMCA family membership through phone and email. They charged me for another month. When I spoke with Brian McGee, I was told that I would get a full refund and a confirmation email. Since then I have tried to contact Brian through email with no reply or refund. This is ridiculous. Now I have to call my bank and take that route with getting my money back 🤞. I would never recommend a membership to anyone I know. Never thought it would be so difficult to get good quality help. To get money back for something I didn’t agree to be charged. I work customer service as well. Just want to say as a customer service representative I would never offer something I couldn’t follow through with. Paper trail shows a lot, always keep proof 😁 have a great day!

I went here one day last week just to get my exercise in I was in the area and it was the closest gym at the time. First off it was hard to find this gym and secondly when I went to scan my barcode the man at the front desk ask to see my id. Most of the Y’s that I came to have never asked to see my id. I hate to pull the race card but I have to tell you what I sensed and felt and I felt like I was being singled out because I was a black woman. I never went through this at the other Y’s all I have to do is show my barcode and go to the gym and have a great time. I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

We went to this location today with the plan of signing up as a family however before doing that we wanted to take a tour. I am very disappointed at the lack of service I have received and it has made me reconsider even going to this YMCA.

What’s the point of having basketball courts if they are primarily used for the kids camp. The kids can go use one of your many tennis courts that are barely used and the basketball courts can be used for basketball.

Horrible YMCA for summer camp don’t take your kids here. The staff have horrible communication skills and they make you pay all this money with absolutely NO MEALS included. You have to pack your kid lunch and snack EVERY SINGLE DAY and the weekly fee is $230+. They have you thinking it’s a “payment plan” but want you to pay the entire amount upfront. If someone would’ve told me that early on I wouldn’t even waste my time signing my son up for this disaster. I paid the remaining amount after I was called by a rude man on the phone. I will not be bringing my kid back here for any camps. Total waste of money and time. I’m glad I got to experience this early on before more money was wasted. If I can give it 0 stars I would.
They spoke very sharply to me like it was a problem. The conversation was very uncomfortable and they gave me an ultimatum to either pay the remaining $98 right away or come and pick up my child immediately. It was horrible communication. Regardless of how much was owed talking to me with a little more respect takes absolute nothing. Customer service should be practiced here. Y’all shouldn’t label it on your site as “payment plan” if you require full payment upfront.
Talk to your black customers the same way you would talk to your non black customers no need for the unnecessary aggression. I am a very understanding parent if everything was communicated with me when I dropped my son off everything could’ve went smoothly.
You’re better off finding a summer camp somewhere else! Where you feel understood and appreciated with respect.

The "whirlpool" or hot tub usually has some grime along the bottom. My brother cleans pools that don't use chemicals so im not too sure what the fix would be for this. Is it chlorine? Anyway service is good but I dont really talk to staff much. I usually start most interactions with the fact I have a brain injury which makes long complex sentences difficult to follow. Mostly because all the brain injury is... is a "shearing brain injury" which apparently means minor brain injury to the surface but it covers 80% of its entirety... more detail would make more sense coming from the neurosurgeon... or just attempting to read the medical file. I generally use the machines upstairs. Doc says to do wrist and upper body exercises. I finish a lot of workouts with cardio. Apologies for not making much sense.

They canceled my membership because I took a selfie in their locker room and tagged the location on instagram. I bodybuild, it was a pic after leg day. They said it was explicit and an abuse to their community? This came after I filed a report of discrimination, it was not an anonymous complaint, against Kelly Corey their administrator. She’s rude and offensive and behaves in a way that’s discriminatory. I’ll never come back here but I am reporting them again.
This is a gym, people body build, they take mirror selfies at the gym. I was mostly clothes but basically in a bathing suit. What a nightmare.

This place is absolute garbage and it’s depressing to see how the YMCA ruined what was once the great healthplex. The locker rooms and especially the steam room are repulsive. The hours are terrible especially for basketball. Changing the hot tub and ice bath to the outside of the Locker room absolutely ruined the experience. All the equipment is gross. I’ve never had a worse experience than at this YMCA. Ownership should be embarrassed and I hope they sell the property soon to someone that actually cares about what goes on here and the well-being of their guests.

I read a lot of bad reviews about the staff and I absolutely dont understand it! Jamie and Nicky are absolutely amazing, the other woman at the front during the day I dont know her name always has a smile they are so nice to our family when we come in! They play Uno with my daughter and treat my kids like YMCA family! I am shocked at these bad reviews! Now nothing is perfect, Does the bathrooms and pool area need to be cleaned throughout the day, yes! There needs to be more staff walking around in the gym because the VISITORS will get off the machines sweaty and never wipe them off just go on to the next machine! The staff in the gym area is not as talkative, but they always greet you with a smile and speak! I was given bad information by customer service and came with a guest, Jamie still accomdated us and once I explained what happened she was ever so helpful! The staff here is friendly and engaging at the front desk! I have never walked in without them speaking and smiling! They always tell us good-bye and know many of the memebers by first name! This YMCA is great to be at! If anything I think a lot of the issues comes from the participants unfortunately! I also think more staff is needed to maintain the cleaniness. Otherwise this place is our new second home and we love it and the staff here!

If you are a woman you need to stay away from this YMCA. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Every time I go here the staff is incredibly rude but I don’t mind because you never need to speak to them unless you have an issue. What I will not get over is being followed around by a male employee who would not stop staring directly at me and got WAY TOO CLOSE to me. After I turned around and he was staring directly at me directly behind me I regrouped with my friends letting them know I was uncomfortable I turned back around there he was behind me again. I go into the bathroom to collect myself not only does a male employee walk in the same employee following me is in the door way. After I start having a panic attack he follows me into the separate part of the gym and when my friends say something to him he begins yelling at me ! DO NOT COME HERE. Since transitioning from the healthplex the facilities have taken a major downward spiral. I waited a year or two to see if the carpet would be ripped up or replaced or even if the showers would be power washed the locker room smells really bad and the lockers are all dirty inside so much so I had to just walk out instead of swimming. I would think since Covid cleaning would be a top priority. I sometimes visit the Delaware brandywine and rocky run ymca I also used to work at the haverford ymca and they keep those ymcas sparkling clean it’s really sad because it’s such a nice space I really wish I could use it more than just the equipment I really need the pool otherwise why not just Payless at planet fitness. Hopefully they will make some renovations instead of just telling the workers to let us know it’s an old building. Springfield Healthplex never looked or smelled like this.

I returned to my home branch, and asked if we were allowed to go to any ymca and they said yes. So not only did the lady on the phone lie to me, but she was also disrespectful. Absolutely great area, they have basketball, a track, a gym, a pool, sauna, and a steam room! So many things to help people get in shape. So many nice employees and it is easy to get a membership. Limited food and drinks in vending machines, and the building is decorated beautifully with options to sign up for CPR training, and other classes. Entrance is in the parking garage or through the main building, I perfer the parking garage as it is is easy to find. Lots of room to park, and lots of machines. Hi to whom this may concern,
Ive been going to the healthplex since 2005 and have never needed to email about any concerns until now.
This is not about the excessive litter. This is about my safety, the children's safety and people who come here to workout. 3 days ago a person working here on staff told me they witnessed an argument on the basketball court and the people involved open up their bag and showed a gun as a threat. They told me the cops were not called because the worker feared retaliation?!?! Is this serious???
There needs to be some sort of security or eventually someone is going to get shot. Even if no security something needs to be done about this. If the ymca allows conceal carry permits for protection then so be it! Especially for self defense?!?!
I come to the gym almost 5 days a week and ever since they started letting people from philly and other areas join this gym it reaks of weed in the parking lots and gym. THERE ARE CHILDREN at this location, sports camps etc.
If you let this continue id like to say thank you for letting these people ruin something nice for the rest of us. I saw the littering email- asking nicely for people to stop littering? Are you kidding me? If someone is caught littering there should be a fine or grounds for revoking their membership.
Id like a formal response because one day if someone gets shot here I'm keeping this email handy and its no one else's fault but managements.
Thanks.

Very very very old moldy, unsanitary & outdated , the pool area is grey and old and molded, the dressing room ceiling vents are piled and clumped with old dust , this place needs very serious renovation, updates or needs to be shut down , the dressing room lights are old and dim and looks like it hasn’t been upgraded since the 70s , not worth paying for a membership here.

I call this YMCA on June 29, 2022 to register my 3yrs old for swim lesson. I give my card information and $35 left my account as the payment and I was told to come in July 12 2022. We went in on the 12 and there was no information whatsoever about my registration but my name was in the system. I went to the front desk and the receptionist was rude and aggressive and off no help. And since I don’t sound or look AMERICAN nothing could be done…..

I really like this Y. It has a great couple of basketball courts and they have volleyball on Tuesdays. Since Rocky Run terminated v’ball, it’s the only Y around. It’s not full of kids who dominate the programs and facility like at RR Y, either. Tennis, racquet ball and squash courts really make it an adult friendly YMCA. Friendly staff and a great vibe.

Signed up from being here as a guest with my sister. Took a break from any facilities since I moved from West Chester. Shopped around now that its getting cooler. Fits the bill, has the machines I want, squat racks, great space called The Yard for free weights and deadlifts. Scouted out the sauna and whirlpool. Locker rooms are spacious. I have a tendency to keep to myself and not want to talk when I exercise, the staff were friendly, smiled and tending to people's needs.
Edit: I left this Y because the amount of people just clogging up machines with recording themselves for social media was increasing. Getting told to pause my stretching so a panorama shot of a patron doing stability ball work was enough for me to look elsewhere.

My wife & I have been members for the last 3 weeks & it has been phenomenal. We've been looking for a place nearby to play racquetball in for so long, and this place has two great courts. The racquetball court access alone is worth the membership cost, but this place has so much more that we've yet to discover.

I love coming to the Y twice a week for their group exercise classes. So far I have taken the spin class, Body Pump, and Barre. I have always left feeling like I had a great workout and feel amazing afterwards. I would definitely recommend, me and my mother-in-law love this place. My child loves to go to the Care Center!

I am a nationwide YMCA member and I have been for 3-4 years. I have never had trouble attending other ymcas outside of my home gym (West Chester). Though I do not live in West Chester anymore, my family still attends that YMCA and my sister goes to camp there so I like to support that YMCA. As soon as I walked into the Springfield YMCA, I was met with bad attitude at the front desk and a feeling of not being wanted in this YMCA. The woman working the front desk is rude… straight up she is rude, there is no other way to put It. I went there for 1 week and when I arrived the next week, I was told that there is a new policy in which nationwide members can not attend after 5 pm. Not only is this policy not written anywhere, they would not allow me to speak to anyone except the woman about my issue. She says if I wanna come to this Y, I should switch my membership. I loved the YMCA because I thought It was built on community and a family feeling when working out. I now have to cancel my very expensive gym membership and find mental and physical health elsewhere. If you want to feel absolutely terrible as soon as you arrive, take a walk up to the front desk at the Springfield YMCA.

If you are looking to find by FAR, I mean by FAR the best aquatics phenom with children and special needs, I can't say enough about the director here. They have a special program for all ages and levels, and talk about someone who loves what they do. It's obvious that Dave is popular because he's always booked, but I've never seen anyone as gifted at their craft as this guy. If you have to learn, even if you don't...go see him. You'll understand why I write these words. Absolutely fantastic! The BEST!
