My husband and I visited Starting Strength Philadelphia for a 30 minute complimentary session while spending time with our daughter and her husband, who train there, and we were genuinely impressed. Coach Steve offered clear, precise instruction and kept the focus on form, which helped me feel safe trying movements that usually intimidate me. The one on one coaching felt patient, thoughtful, and grounded. As someone who is older and wants to get stronger without feeling out of place, I appreciated being welcomed and taken seriously right away. The session left me wishing (and searching) for a place like this closer to home!

I’m new to lifting barbells and as a 65 year old female was looking for a knowledgeable trainer to get me started. Chip is not only knowledgeable, but also easy to understand and takes the time to explain things. He is incredibly attentive and tailors the programming specifically for me based on how I’m lifting. And best of all, because of Chip’s instruction, I feel comfortable that I know what I’m doing. Thank you Chip!

Philadelphia is so lucky to have a Starting Strength gym! Coach Chip has helped me to correct my form on all of the main barbell lifts. Over the course of a month, I've added considerable muscle mass, especially in my lower body, and my lifting numbers are way up. Starting Strength has made me feel stronger and more capable in my daily life. Objects that once felt heavy are now easy to move, and I have no fear of injury, even as a 50 year-old man. This is the place you need to come to lift. It’s clean, the equipment is top notch, and the coaching is excellent.
As someone who has dealt with injuries and set backs, just 30 minutes here and I can’t wait to lift again.
