The hours are great, and the equipment is superb. I use a pretty involved strength and conditioning program that requires a unique variety of equipment, and SWEAT has everything I need. It's also not very crowded in the mornings, is clean, and the staff are friendly. When I needed to pause my membership, it was not an issue, and reactivating was also easy. It is a bit pricey, some more promos or deals for active members would be nice. I would give this gym 5 stars if they had a sauna in the locker rooms -- you can buy a home sauna at Costco for $1,000. If SWEAT were to upgrade each locker room to include a Sauna, I think the price would be fair and I would happily rewrite this review with 5 stars :) Overall, I am happy with my membership.

Overall the gym is fairly priced and never overcrowded which is a huge plus. The only thing I’ll say is that there’s only 1 of each machine essentially- which means when a machine is broken or not functioning properly, it goes noticed. I.e: leg raise machine, chest press, and hip thrust machine. I really wish they’d properly maintain their equipment- it’s been about 2+ months and they haven’t been fixed. Also, there’s a bit more to be desired. I wish they had calf raise machines, hack squats, or a more functional hip thrust machine. The other location has a lot more equipment, but it’s so claustrophobic I can’t move around.

The only good thing I can say is the actual gym employees are very nice. But dealing with Sweat's administrative side and billing company (ABC Fitness Solutions) has been an awful experience.

They have harassed me with robocalls for months after cancelling my membership and have ignored my legal request that all communication be done in writing.

I wouldn't suggest signing any contract with this gym if they continue working with this billing company.

This company steals. Join a different gym. It’s an insane bait and switch. I moved and tried to cancel and they refused to cancel after I spent hours in the phone with some overseas call center. Absolutely embarrassing horrible business practices in 2025. No wonder it was always empty. Gross. Go bankrupt already.

My girl friend, Heather, and I have been there about 15 times on a Groupon deal, and we ABSOLUTELY love the place ! It has everything you need to get in a great workout, and it is never crowded. The place is clean, and the equipment is new and well maintained. Ron, the general manager, is AWESOME, and all of the staff are really helpful... If you are looking for a place to get in a really good, hassle-free work-out, without the frills (and high cost) of a Lifetime Fitness, then this is your place. Our experience to date has been nothing short of excellent...

This gym makes it an absolute nightmare to cancel. My wife had a membership and told them in February she wants to cancel it. They said it won't take effect for 60 days, but in April they kept charging money, and when we complained they kept giving us the runaround. Same in May. Then they even charged more money for no reason. When escalate to corporate (Maureen Faber by the way) they started the clock all over again on May 22nd! Completely outrageous and in violation of the new FTC "Click to Cancel" rule.

Jim went above and beyond to make me feel welcome at the gym. Even though I was visiting from out of town, I felt well taken care of. Had a good range of equipment and spacing.

Warning: the the 21 day free trial is a scam. The employee at the counter told me he extended it to 30 days like he was doing me a favor. I tried to cancel it on day 28 but was told the 30 days was when billing starts, not actually when my trial was good until. The woman I emailed also told me I needed to give 60 days notice, which is obviously impossible on a 21 or 30 day trial!

I don't usually leave reviews but I genuinely feel like I've been scammed.

Edit in response to their reply: The contract was not changed after I signed it. Before I signed it, the employee said he extended it so that I had until April 4th. Turns out this was the start of billing and not when the trial ended. Very misleading and he did not actually extend anything.

It doesn't matter anyway, since there's no way to give 60 day notice whether the trial was 21 or 30 days.

I like the people that work here a lot. The location still needs some work but I've seen the investment since I've been a member. Derek (GM) and my personal trainer Alex are both awesome. Generally a clean gym. Could be better about hand soap in the bathrooms and paper towels on the floor.

I have had numerous problems with this gym since joining earlier this year. I signed up for the month-to-month membership and decided to give the personal training trial a go. One, no one told me about this apparent 60-day cancellation charge if I wanted to stop my membership. What is the point of paying more for month-to-month if you're still getting hit with fees for cancelling? I can understand 30 days maybe, but 60? Two, I WAS told that if I wanted to CONTINUE with personal training after the trial, I had to email the manager, Sam. Apparently, the opposite was true because I started getting charged for the sessions and didn't know until the trainer texted me about not scheduling anything.

The staff did try to work with me and told me to request that my account be paused for 3 weeks so I could use the 6 sessions I had accrued. I didn't particularly want them but thought I might as well utilize them since I was already charged and may continue if I ended up liking it more. After only two or three sessions of the six, I tried scheduling another and was told I didn't have any more left. Confused, I tried emailing Sam to clear this issue up, also asking to extend the account pause so I didn't get charged more until it was sorted out. No reply. I followed up a week later, still no reply. In that window my account was charged again, and I still had no answers. Finally, I sent a third email telling him to cancel the personal training but keep the month-to-month so I could still workout. Somehow that got a speedy response and confirmation, but he just ignored the discrepancies and charges I had asked about initially.

If the lack of communication and shadiness wasn't enough, there's rarely someone standing at the front desk, so any person can just walk in off the street and roam about the gym. I know this because while I was working out, someone went into the cubby (that's well within view from the desk) I had my bag in and ROBBED me of my driver's license and credit cards. They also just straight lied about adding certain amenities I asked about during my initial inquiry, but somehow that's the least concerning thing here.

Now, I'm trying to cancel my membership (or at least start the absurd process), emailed both Sam and Maureen, and after a week I have yet to get confirmation of receipt from either one. I'm not really one to write bad reviews when I experience poor service or have been wronged by a business. I really try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when it comes to mistakes, but the management of this place is actually laughable. I'd say do better, but it's clear that would fall on deaf ears. If I ever manage to cancel my membership, I'll be returning to the NYSC up the road, which I recommend everyone who lives in this area also do. At least there, your chances of getting robbed by strangers and the business itself are significantly lower.

Edit: After receiving a response to this review
about a personal apology, no one ever actually followed up.

Darrick and his staff are kind and amazing people. I was unable to continue with my membership beyond my 21-day trial, but the time I was able to spend at the Queen Village location was always wonderful. Jim signed me up, walked me through all of the details that I needed to know, and remembered me every morning that I walked in and greeted me warmly. The cardio machines covered the basic needs I had for fitness, and the one and only yoga class I was able to attend was FANTASTIC. I was always found the locker room to be clean and comfortable. When it came time to cancel my membership, Tyler at the front desk was very kind and reasurring and did not even try to talk me into staying on like you might see on TV. When I noticed later on in the day that my membership was still active in the app, I panicked, especially when I could not get anyone on the phone. I did eventually get in touch with someone very kind at the South Philly location who not only told me they would contact Darrick but also gave me the email address for him if I needed to follow-up myself. After I sent my own email, Darrick called me personally and was just so kind and reassuring that everything had been taken care of and followed through with an email back to me as proof. If I am able to go back to a gym, it will definitely be SWEAT Fitness in Queen Village, because they really do care about the people that walk in and out of their facility.

At first I thought the billing issues were incompetence, but after actually dealing directly with the billing office (which seems like it was outsourced to the shadiest 3rd party they could find) its pretty clear this whole operation is a scam. The contract will be presented to you on a screen the size of a business card, but I implore you to read it carefully. You will have an easier time walking away from your mortgage.

I was told you just need 60 days notice to cancel, but that wasnt true. You actually are locked in for the whole year, and you can only cancel before that with proof of moving to an area without a Sweat Fitness or any affiliated gyms nearby, plus a hefty cancellation fee. And when I tried that, they didnt accept my proof of new address. So I was locked in for the whole year even after I moved.

The "free" trial is a scam!
Sadly, I have to repeat what others here have said: this gym is extremely unprofessional with its cancellation policy. I confirmed with an employee when & how I had to cancel my free trial, and followed the instructions exactly. 8 days later, not only have I not received a confirmation of my cancellation as requested, I was charged for my "membership". I reached out again to get my money back, and still have not heard anything.
I will update this review in case this issue gets rectified, but until then, I strongly suggest you stay away from this place.

Update: I reached out again after the comment below, but my emails continue to be ignored. They are quick to reply to reviews here, but entirely unresponsive to emails. Extremely unprofessional.

Just throwing out another angry review about the absolutely arbitrary "60 day cancelation notice" requirement. Good job getting an extra two months of payments from me, here's your bad review in return.

Extra complaints since I'm here I guess: water fountains suck, they don't have real cleaning wipes, constantly bothered by staff with extra sales/classes and such.

I truly never write reviews but this place deserves one. They will continue charging you after you cancel your membership and give you the run around when you call them out on their shady practices. Two and a half months later I still have not been reimbursed for the overcharges. Do not go here, there’s plenty of other gyms in the area that cost the same and deserve your business more.

Couldn't recommend more!

Honestly this gym is so poorly laid out it’s really annoying. Can’t see yourself in any mirror on most machines & both squat racks!

Also no real wipes to clean machines (just thin paper towels and dilute soap spray bottle; doesn’t work). I’ve tried contacting management to leave feedback but haven’t heard back. Could overlook some of this if it wasn’t priced competitively with other (massively more upscale) gyms in the city…

Source: Google

★ 2

This gym is alright. I wish they would move the equipment around so that the squat racks were in front of the mirrors (there's plenty of mirrors in the gym, just none by the racks!)

They also switched out the sanitizing wipes for spray bottles and paper towels, I think because it is harder to use than the wipes, less people clean the machines. Please bring back the wipes!

I signed up in person, and I opted for month to month so I could cancel if I didn’t like it. No one explained to me that I would still have to pay 2 additional months upon cancellation, which makes no sense to me especially since they charge $35 every two weeks instead of a flat monthly fee. So really they wanted to charge me for an additional 4 billing cycles. I tried to cancel because money got tight, and that’s when I learned about this essentially $140 cancellation fee. I told them this is ridiculous because the reason I chose the month to month option was to avoid this exact scenario and no one mentioned this policy to me during sign up. At this point they convinced me to pause my membership for a few months instead, again no one told me that this would also incur a $5 a month charge, and I didn’t learn about that until it happened. I was also charged a random amount of $19 and some change by their billing company, and when I called to ask what it was, they couldn’t tell me. Once again I tried to cancel because I was frustrated with my overall experience and the lack of transparency, and I was then offered to have the $5 hold fee waived, and also offered 2 free months at the gym when my pause was up. But that doesn’t count towards the 2 months payment to cancel, I’m sure.

I loved Sweat under its former management, I used to pay a flat $50/month and never experienced hassle like this. I was a long time member and used at least 3 of the old sweat locations. Now it’s more expensive, the equipment is far worse, and management seems to be a mess.

Over the gym is pretty cool and organized. My only complaint is the music is way too loud and as an elder it can be dangerous if no one can hear you. Maybe the loudest gym I ever heard and my noise cancelation earbuds don't work. The floors don't appear to be clean daily. Don't want to lay down on the floor with hair from last week. The staff are nice tho.

Sharing this on behalf of my partner who I have been trying to help with the awful interactions he's had with Sweat Fitness. Our recent interactions with Sweat Fitness have left me deeply dissatisfied. During my attempts to cancel our membership, we were told that we needed to pay the buyout fee of several hundred dollars even though we've moved out of state which in accordance with their contract voids us of this charge. It's impossible to stay a Member of a gym and crazy to pay for it when you move over 1,000 miles away. The contract says if you move 25 miles away, you do not need to pay the buyout... We have provided statements and documents to prove our new address and everything they need. Instead, they respond send automated replies indicating we owe the buyout fee and provide no actual human communication to resolve this. This is an ongoing issue that we're deeply frustrated by.

Even as a Member, I was dissatisfied. When trying to work out in the gym, there will be classes going on where they will take over the free weights and I'll have to leave my routine to give up gym mats. It's unorganized how they do this.

These incidents collectively highlight a troubling pattern of disorganization and unprofessionalism within Sweat Fitness. As a result of these experiences, I cannot recommend Sweat Fitness to others, and I urge potential members to consider alternatives that prioritize clarity and professionalism.

This is, simply put, the worst gym you could find. Don’t even think about canceling, ever. Even if you opt for month to month, even if you’re moving! It’s dirty, full of screaming children, and a (bonus!) large room with ping pong tables! That’s right, instead of adding machines or additional weight training area, they give you… ping pong tables. Of course without paddles and balls :)

You’d be better served spending your money literally anywhere else. And for those that have already signed up and want to cancel, good luck. The buyout option is $500+

During one of my visits, one of the front desk employees requested to take a photo of me and my girlfriend “for internal purposes”, however no new photo was ever used for either of our accounts afterwards. No idea what the photo was meant for, but the employee was snickering when taking our photos which made us feel incredibly uncomfortable anytime they were working.

Additionally, when we asked the employees to cancel our memberships, we were given multiple different email addresses to notify of our cancellation, and each one told us we had contacted the wrong email. We are now in a seemingly endless loop of redirects and still haven’t confirmed if our plans are cancelled or not.

Safe to say I’ll never be using Sweat Fitness again and truly hope others are fortunate enough to never encounter these issues either.

Any reviews you see a year older than this one are out of date. Sweat re-opened its doors roughly 6 months ago after closing and reopened with new management and staff. I belonged to this Sweat before they closed about a year ago and boy did it need some TLC, which is exactly what Sam and his team did.

The gym has all new equipment, an updated layout, and an overall lighter and pleasant vibe. I’m not very picky when it comes to gyms, but this place has everything you need to have a great lift/workout from machines, dumbbells, open space to stretch/do circuits, and more. Happy to see the gym reopen its doors in Queens Village.

The place is falling apart. At least 6 spots where the floor is caving in. Feels like you’re going to at least twist an ankle if not fall through entirely. The air conditioner condensation leaks into one of the squat rack areas and makes a puddle. Air conditioning barely works - it gets into the 80s on the ground floor and the 90s on the second floor.

Finding a treadmill that isn’t broken is like a game of roulette.

Pros: The staff is pretty nice.

Equipment: 5 out of 5 - This gym has more than enough equipment and most of it is in relatively good shape.

Price: 3 out of 5 - The membership is kind of expensive, but given where its at, I can't complain too much. You are paying for the location.

Cleanliness/Facilities: 1 out of 5 - If I was just rating general cleanliness I would've given it a 3/5. Its really not terribly dirty considering how much foot traffic/use the gym gets. I gave this a 1/5 because of the gaping water damage holes in the ceiling that have been there since ~2018. It has to be simple negligence on the behalf of the owner that has allowed there to be gaping holes in the ceiling for 3+ years. I really don't know how this place passes yearly inspections. They had plenty of time with the pandemic shutdown to address these issues and never did (despite saying they were in response to a past review).

Another major issue is the temperature. We have had a couple straight weeks of 90-100 degree weather, and there is really no noticeable air conditioning in the building. Again, this comes down to cheap/negligent ownership. They should be concerned about the safety of their members at this point.

Staff: 4/5 - All the employees are kind and pleasant. Only complaint would be that they occasionally play music WAY too loud to the point where your own headphones at max volume can't even drown it out.

I attend the One South Broad location and I must say that this is hands down the best gym that I have ever belonged to! The staff knows all the members by their first names and always has something nice to say when you walk in the door. Regardless of what shape you’re in, the staff is encouraging and supportive of its members fitness goals. Alyssa, the Manager is awesome! She’s so professional and goes above and beyond to make sure the members have a good experience at the gym and will reach out to ensure they are happy with their membership. Crystal is an excellent Personal Trainer. I have been working with her for a few months now and I am so happy with the results. She will push you to the limit but is encouraging as well. I have nothing nice to say about this establishment. It's cramped, a bit dirty, the bathroom is disgraceful and there's nothing special about the selection of machines.

But mostly my issue is the absolutely terrible experience I had with personal training. My trainer accused me of being high on marijuana, pushed me too far so I was injured, mocked my diet, suggested I eat some pizza before I show up so I'd have energy, and most upsetting, gossiped about other clients.

WHY IS THE MUSIC ALWAYS SO LOUD. I have air pod pros with noise cancellation and I still have to turn the volume 75% of the way up because the music is so loud. It isn't loud all the time but around half the times I go it is. I don't think the front desk staff understand the music isn't for them. Almost everybody I see at the gym brings their own music so why does the gym have to play music loudly?

All the equipment I used was well maintained, freshly painted, and working great. The bench press was the perfect height and the hooks were exactly what they needed to be. All the weights were well organized and all the equipment was easy to find. The area was open, well lit, and well organized. Everyone there was also really friendly. I was a walk-in and the whole process was super easy. Thanks guys!

I’ve been to gyms around the USA and the world and this was by far the worst gym I’ve ever been to. The facilities were very poorly maintained, resulting in often broken equipment and a very dirty interior. Don’t even bother with the locker rooms or bathrooms. Worse than the facilities are the staff, who are not only un-helpful/friendly but negligent in duties. I witnessed one employee “cleaning up” by pushing stacks of 45lb plates off high racks so they fell to the floor from a distance. No wonder the floor has holes and the equipment is busted.

A lot of the equipment is pretty beat up. Almost all of the freeweight dumbbells have rubber missing from their coating. Padding on the exercise equipment is worn as well. Decent amount of treadmills, ellipticals, and exercise bikes. The men's locker room is god-awful. There are 3 tiny showers that stink of mildew. The air conditioner hasn't worked there for the 2 months I've been going so the locker room is HOT, sweaty, and also generally smells of mildew. Sometimes I feel less clean coming out of the shower there. I don't think I've ever seen anyone in that locker room cleaning.

*in response to the owner, I look forward to seeing those issues resolved, particularly the locker room!

this is the worst and the baddest of all gym in philadelphia please dont get a membership there because they try to steal your money at any time of the membership. dont sign up without reading the contract, they take your signature and place it any other contract which will get you down the road its a scam and all the employees are trained in this scam

Sometimes, things are broken or worn down, sometimes the pace is a little dirty. But, if you're looking for a fairly comprehensive gym in Philly, they get the job done. They have everything you'd need and more and it's rare that you won't be able to get a machine even at busy times

Ive been going to this gym for a few months now and I personally love it. It has its pros and cons. Some pros are the equipment are consistently in working condition and rarely go out of service, its spacious to accommodate a variety of workouts, plenty of workout classes to join. Some cons are minor in my opinion but may bother some for example the locker rooms need updating like big time. I shower at home so its whatever but if you wanna workout before work and shower there then you might have a problem. Theres a section reserved only for prime members which has alot of squat racks that the rest of are in desperate need of. The squat rack is the only equipment I ever had to wait for because half of them are reserved for prime memebers. And ofcourse the price might is higher than average. The staff seems friendly enough, the regulars are super cool and nobody judges.

This location has everything for everyone. Free weights, machines, cardio, classes, and more. There is never a large crowd, and in the past 5-6 months I waited for a bench maybe twice? I have also had a personal trainer, and the meeting times are flexible, and definitely goal oriented. Dexter(the trainer I was partnered with) is always available via texts to answer any questions I have.
I've also noticed people commenting that this location is dirty and has rude/incompetent staff. FALSE. Theres always someone cleaning, and the staff is all smiles.

Updating my review and here is an unbiased review. The gym is mediocre but the people that go to the gym are friendly. There is a range of beginners to experience bodybuilders, and no one judge. Overall, not a bad gym just a bit pricier than some of the other gyms with the same equipments. Also, this won't get mention but only a manager can cancel your account.

My favorite place when I'm in town. Our business has maintained a group membership for I don' know how long now. Some of the things that folks on here criticize I love, like the fact that it's an old parking garage with the occasional leaky pipe. Never had an issue.

Great gym. Friendly staff, good group of regulars. I've been at this facility for over a year and I've grown to love it. I go there each morning between 5 and 6 to get a good workout in before work. I also frequent in the afternoons and on the weekends and regardless of the time of day number of visitors is manageable and I never have issues accessing the specific equipment needed. I love the spacious group workout room which provides a nice space to get a couple hundred skips done between sets. I also like the speed with which equipment troubles are handled... look, stuff breaks - that's unavoidable... but the staff their are quick to label the impacted device and it's never long before the issue is addressed. Highly recommend... good value for money. Say hi if you see me there, I'm the guy with the jumprope :-)

Would not recommend. They strung customers on for over a year with the opening of their One South Broad location. They were neither transparent nor honest about why the delays kept occurring, and they tried multiple underhanded tactics (like billing my card when I was on a freeze and having free personal training sessions 'expire' before the gym had even opened.

To give you an idea of just how underhanded, they used to have a separate Google Review for their One South Broad location but they de-listed it because of all the bad reviews.

The gym is great, but what an outdated process for canceling your membership! When I signed up at the gym, I was told after my first year my gym membership went "month to month", and that I could cancel anytime. A year and a half later, I go to cancel my membership because I was moving out of the area. I couldn't cancel my membership on site, I had to call into a hotline for an external billing service. On the phone I was told calling in wasn't enough. I had to provide them with written notice...two months out! So I was stuck paying my bill for two more months!

What a byzantine and antiquated process! How can you say membership is "month to month" after a certain point when it requires two months to cancel!? And what's the point of going to a neighborhood gym as opposed to one of the big chains if I have to deal with a external hotline for billing issues? Sadly, this final experience soured my opinion of Sweat Fitness

This SWEAT is roomy. And has reasonable weights for lifting. For the price its really not bad. Its dirty & some of equipment is falling apart. But Ive been a member since 2011 & havent once thought to go looking for another gym. Biggest qualms is: there will be clean towels up front maybe half the time, theyre always running out. And the SWEAT X thing ( a premium version of the same gym with more equipment) just steals space, equipment and cleaning attention from the rest of the gym.
