The staff is very nice. The club is very clean. Members are friendly. My only complaint is that I'm disabled and I mainly go to use the pool. The pool has several doors very close to access it, but the check in is on the second floor on the opposite side of the building. Many elderly members comment that is a huge inconvenience and for me it's rough. I know it's a gym to get excersize but I use the pool to walk. Walking is difficult for me. I just think they don't accommodate the disabled who need the pool for physical therapy. Please consider this for change a lot of the elderly people need a closer check in.

Always a machine handy, its good place to get into a sauna maybe some laps in the pool, perhaps a game of basketball even yoga or HIIT training. Showers for the on the go individual like myself in and out, lockerrooms to put your stuff in, you could even get a shake on the go right after your workout. Full-on facility and the staff are very attentive and friendly.

This gym has everything I need when it comes to the weight room. I want to do cardio, but every tv has fox and cnn on them. How about sports instead? I don't need to hear about politics while trying to workout. If the gym could turn the news off so we can peacefully on our workouts, then that would be great.

We love the kids programs available at the summit, but the elementary basketball games charging $4 person (adult or kid) is a little much. Teams pay hundreds of dollars to sign up and many utilize the snack station so there's money being made. We've attended other sporting events for kids and paid $1/ person kids free or $4 for a family. Today we paid $20 to watch a 28 minute game played by 7 year olds... 4 games to go = $100 for the season.... now if admission cost included a few laps in the pool perhaps it'd even out 😉

If I could give it a 0 I would this was our first time ever coming here for my sons 10th birthday. We had party room 2-5 pool 2-4 well we forgot the bag with the swimming stuff in it so my fiance ran home to get it well by 230 our party host had came in about 6 times in that half hour period to see if my fiance was back yet and If we were ready to go to the pool. She was so dumb founded we were scheduled for pool form 2-4 and it was 230 and we still weren't in the pool yet to the point she went and told her boss that I said I had questions about the time I scheduled my party... which I never said u had a question and I sure hope I'd know what time I scheduled it for I scheduled it !!! To the point the manager came down to question why we weren't swimming yet and stated "were not giving you more time since your not in the water" I never once even asked or insinuated that's what I wanted !!! Not impressed at all and won't be returning there almost 300 bucks to get harassed about how I spend time I pay for !!!!

This club offers a very neighborly vibe, with everyone knowing one another. The location is convenient, in proximity to large convenient stores. There is much parking and the individuals at the front desk are helpful and polite. There are some snacks that can be purchased and one can even borrow a locker key. There are tennis and basketball courts, training areas and classes, including spinning, yoga, Zumba and kickboxing. The pool is very small, with three lanes that are regularly occupied. Good membership prices. My only complaint is that some classes do not stick to the schedule. Sometimes I will wait 15 minutes for class to start just to have to leave in the middle as it goes over time. I wish classes adhered to the schedule. This is the only reason why I will not renew my membership

Was in town for the holidays and they were very cordial when it came to allowing us to use the facilities for a small fee. My son and I both enjoyed the basketball courts for open gym as well as the weight room. The equipment, courts and locker rooms were top notch and clean. Over all The Summit is a decent gym. However, they don't pay attention to simple basics. Let me explain.

A.)They don't start the steam room when they open in the morning. As a member I should not have to turn it on myself and then wait over an hour for it to get hot.

B.) The eucalyptus room has issues. It is very seldom at a decent level. Many times I can barely smell eucalyptus.

C.) Many times the whirlpool is shut down during open hours. We are paying for these services. It should not be shut down during open hours.

D. )They close the locker room for cleaning during lunch time. That's horrible for members who can only use the facility during lunch hours.

E. ) When they mop the floors they remain soggy and sloppy. The eucalyptus room is even worse. They mop the bench you sit on with the dirty floor mop and leave it disgustingly wet.

F) One final issue, is that an ab machine on the main workout floor requires lubrication to operate smoothly. It's apparent they do not have a schedule for such things as it is constantly binding due to improper maintenance. I find this to be very frustrating. Management absolutely has room for improvement, but I doubt anything will be done about my concerns according to the remarks I've received when voicing them.

When I brought these issues up to the management I was told that's how they've done it for years and they have no intention of changing anything. Great customer relations...NOT.

In conclusion, I do like the gym and equipment, but a 3 is the best review I can give. This is due to their lack of attention to important details and their apparent disinterest in improving the facilities.

The Summit is a great facility with a Sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, racket ball, basketball, you name it. The only downfall is that it can get busy there in the evenings with kids & all the after school sporting events they hold. The weight lifting equipment is also pretty old and not as smooth in comparison to newer machines at somewhere like Planet Fitness. Overall considering it has the pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and all that extra razz and jazz I'd say the Summit is a nice surprise to have in the Altoona area.

The equipment and facilities are wonderful but there are many people who don't follow rules and management does nothing. On multiple occasions parents have brought their misbehaving toddlers to the pool during adult swim hours and apparently the policy is that children are allowed in the pool during adult swim as long as they stay in the walking lane. Basically adult swim doesn't actually exist here. If you want a quiet place to swim laps without screaming kids jumping in the water and knocking over pool equipment this isn't it.

If I could leave zero stars I would. When I was pregnant last year, they refused my doctors excuse about me not going while I was pregnant because of COVID. They told me COVID wasn’t an issue for a pregnant woman when in fact it can make you go into preterm labor. But I was told that even though I paid for the months that I didn’t go that I would have them to use after I gave birth and felt ready to come back. Now I tried to come back and I get told there is no record of anything for the months I’m owed. Don’t waste your time at a place where they could care less if you get COVID, especially with how I’ve seen and heard from other people how lackadaisical they are with cleaning or mandating masks when they were mandated, and then rip you off for what you are owed.

Terrible. Do not recommend for birthday parties. The staff was screaming at my nieces and nephews telling them to shut up and disrespecting them. The summit is a gem in Altoona. they offer tennis basketball a pool professional messages and more. This is all my opinion and what I have observed and believe to be correct. however I found green molding in the jacuzzi witch leads me to wonder how often the water is drained and the area is cleaned. Tiles are broken in many areas. In general I feel that maintenance is neglected so it's only natural I feel cleaning is neglected as well. For the prices and contracts available I still believe planet fitness to be the better choice as they are open all night and are a newer facility only costing 10 dollars month. If the summit would remodel or fix things to reflect the prestige membership then I would consider being member again.

My husband and I paid for us both to use the gym (which is expensive) for him the gym is perfectly fine and he has gotten a good bit of use from the membership. I, on the other hand, can't go.
I would need to bring my two young children and there's absolutely no way I will leave them in the care facility there again. There is no security. They don't check IDs . You simply write your child's name on a paper and sign yours. When you pick your child up they don't check IDs to make sure your who signed the child in. Lack of security is a real problem. The room itself is also very small. The staff that were there the day I tried to get a work out in looked miserable and we're both rude , no introductions, and they looked purely annoyed that we were dropping kids off.

I'm in a wheelchair and met with someone who works there and she took me through a tour of the facility and "NOTHING" was accessable for me except maybe the free weights and that was a joke. Parking lot wasn't good for me with a van because I needed a little extra room for my lift. The yearly prices even with my military discount was still outrageous. This facility is lackluster and needs a lot of major updates.
The thing that stood out to me the most was improper handling of mismanagement. The management of the facility didn't own up to their mistake and error on the side of the member. Instead, they blamed the miscommunication on a staff member who wasn't present at the facility and then proceeded to tell the member that the entire court was reserved for an outside function. This is the only gym that I've been to that didn't error on the side of the member.

Best value for your money as far as amenities. However, it's well past needing updated/modernized. My biggest gripe is employees and management do nothing for conflict resolution. They allow bullying and I have even witnessed their GM and trainers stand by and do nothing when it is going on right in front of them. The offer a ton of classes and it's great for that but if you are into weight training, stay away. There are plenty of other gyms that have opened in Altoona recently and promote a better and more supportive culture.
