About the Club

Welcome to our little neighborhood studio!
When we opened tuck in 2017, we wanted to create a table big enough for everyone hoping for a place to belong. Our dream was to build a space where people could be warmly and wholly accepted just for being themselves, where folks could practice the art of loving, and where we could connect as humans - not transactionally - but through seeing and understanding each other as we are.

We strongly believe vulnerability builds connection. Every day, we teach you as us - there's no pretense, no perfection, no pretending. We know that in sharing our vulnerability, we are letting you know, "hey, we can't do this life alone." And in those moments, we hope you feel more connected, less alone in the world.

Missed a class, their policy about locking the doors after class starts is too strict especially since there is another studio and it’s easy to get confused. The instructor of the class I actually went to was rude.

Tuck barre and yoga is absolutely amazing! I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. I am been going to Tuck for almost 3 years and it has been life-changing for me. Tuck is accepting in a way that no other studio is. Not only is it truly a no-judgement studio, but it such an incredibly welcoming community and I have met such wonderful friends at tuck. The barre classes are challenging but always accessible and the time truly just flies by. All of the teachers are incredible! I started going to tuck for the workouts and I've stayed for years because of the community. Going to tuck is the best investment you can make - trust me its worth it!

I was worried about a 7:15 class since I'm far from being a morning person, but Callie was great and helped me feel energized for the day. And her hair's really cute. Love the vibe of the studio!

I did my first yoga class today with Mary and it was amazing! Very challenging and definitely did not expect to sweat the way I did. Mary was really helpful in guiding me in certain poses but she never made me feel like I didn’t belong. Everyone was so welcoming as well. I walked out of class feeling so refreshed today. Im looking forward to attending more classes with tuck in the future! 10/10 experience and highly recommend trying a class!

What a beautiful space! In town visiting friends and I did an 830 core and a 930 barre class Saturday morning with Alex and I have to tell you this woman is amazing. You know those little muscles that are really hard to find to work or maybe you don't even realize you have? Well folks she finds them and wakes them up makes them participate and scream at you a little bit the next day so you not only feel accomplished from taking the class but also stronger for those hidden muscles you worked. Id say it was a barre pilates fusion with some weights built in and it was a non stop high energy great class.
I loved the way Alex cues you up for things well in advance while counting you through the current move so you always know where you are at and where you are headed. Can't wait to take another class with her. Sunday I took a yoga class with Corey and she knows how to help you really develop in your practice no matter what your current skillset. You could see in the room folks where at different levels and she made options abundant for anyone to adjust to what was comfortable for them while helping to encourage your body to be all in on whatever move it was attempting. She was vocal the entire class to really walk you through each movement, we held positions long enough to ensure they where impactful but not so long they became stale and the flow was encouraging every part of my body to engage. Corey really sets a space for you in that room energetically also.
I wish I had a studio this incredible back home! Thanks so much Alex and Corey for giving my body such an awesome challenge, workout and stretch. I have to mention also that everyone who is taking class with you is so friendly and accepting. Come as you are.

Love the tuck spaces and this new studio is a wonderful addition. It’s bright, open and airy and filled with wonderful touches a la Callie. All the instructors at Tuck offer a different flavor and intensity to the workouts and they’re all fantastic. The intensity level gauge in the app is a great way to find your fit here. Can’t say enough good things about Tuck! Go check it out now!

Tuck is fantastic. I've been attending regularly for 5 months since relocating to Philly. The teachers are knowledgeable, prepared, supportive, and always present a challenge without pressure. Barre classes with Taft, Alex, and Emily are excellent; Callie's classes will sneakily leave you sore in every possible way the next day; and yoga with Corey is truly something special. If you're looking for a judgement-free space to learn and grow you will find it at Tuck!

Love the new studio. Did yoga yesterday and the sun came streaming down my face in 40 degree weather. Perfect. The instructors are amazing. They provide modifications but also focus on form for those that want it. Everyone is friendly, and I’ve always felt welcomed. I like that I can choose between barre and yoga classes depending on my energy levels in a given week. So glad I joined this studio!

TUCK tucking rocks. Beautiful environment with attention paid to the minutiae. Teachers are empathetic, flexible to client needs, and energetic. It can be intimidating to walk into a new space, but Tuck and it's teachers make me feel welcome now matter how I am walking in that day. In fact, it's teachers at Tuck that are the reason I pursued my own Yoga Teacher Training and have strengthened my practice with Barre principles.

Tuck is like a home away from home - it’s so welcoming, comforting and uplifting taking a class in this studio, with this top notch group of instructors. They offer modifications in every class to increase challenges or take it a bit easier, and are very accommodating with injuries, pregnancies, new students, etc. I’ve been going to the last Tuck studio location in Point Breeze for years, and the new location on Washington Ave blows any studio I’ve ever been to out of the water! It’s gorgeous, a must-see.

I’ve ALWAYS hated sport/movement, you name it. After moving to Philly for school, I needed a place where I could move after a long day spent sitting, I found Tuck by accident when I saw a friend signing up for class, but I’m with them for almost a year. I love the teachers, atmosphere, and the sense of community. They made me love yoga and then barre (now I feel like a graceful ballerina, sort of 😬). My back isn’t sore all the time and each time I leave Tuck energized, with my soul full, and next booking confirmed.

UPDATE Jan 2024: I’ve now been a member for 1.5 years and my love for the studio has continued to grow. Just had my first class at the new location at 23rd and Wash and OMG it is gorgeous, looks straight out of an anthro magazine. My “commute” to class has increased from 4 min (I was spoiled) to 12 min, but the classes are worth the extra walk to get to!

Tuck is such a breath of fresh air and an amazing asset to Point Breeze. When I joined the studio, I thought maybe I’d just do the introductory rate unlimited month and then drop into a class here and there, since it was in the neighborhood. I never had success with sticking with a work out plan beyond a couple months before and didn’t have much hope. Fast forward 10 months and I can officially say I LOVE to work out! I have been going to barre classes here 3-4x a week consistently and have been to almost 150 classes (who am I!?). The teachers are so friendly (shout out to Emily G, Meaghan G, and Alex C), the classes are so inclusive, the studio so bright and cheery, all while being a killer work out that pushes me to push myself each time I come. While I haven’t been able to take her class often (I wish I could do AM classes with my work schedule!), the owner Callie is as genuine and down to earth as they come. Never would I think I would be the type to actually get sad to miss a workout class if I am out of town, but that is how energizing and addictive this studio is. My only wish is that I could fit even more classes into my weekly schedule (and that I bit the bullet and signed up sooner)!

I found out summer of last year Tuck would be moving to my neighborhood (grad hospital) but decided to try out the Point Breeze location first to see if I liked it. I can say without a shadow of a doubt it was the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. From the first time stepping foot in the studio, I was immediately welcomed. The staff is incredibly friendly- they always recognize a new face and quickly get to know returning clients. Tuck feels like home! I went from not enjoying workout classes to going 4-5 times a week, and being disappointed if I can’t make one of my usual days. The instructors are the most fun, knowledgeable teachers. They will always encourage modifications or doing what feels right for your body, and never push you to do anything that doesn’t. Tuck is the happiest most comfortable place and joining was my favorite part of last year. Thank you Callie for the beautiful environment you’ve created, I am so grateful for the community it’s brought me! The new studio is BEAUTIFUL and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for it!!! Tuck has changed my life for the better in the last 8 months. After reading reviews for all workout studios in a multiple mile radius, Tuck stood out as the most inclusive and encouraging. I still went into my first class terrified that I would not be able to keep up and would be judged or not welcome for being out of shape. All of my fears were proven wrong. The studio is warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. Instructors are quick to learn your name and actually want to get to know everyone attending class. Multiple reminders are made to listen to your body and take breaks as needed. Instructors are incredibly well trained and offer general modifications out loud so no one is ever “singled out” for listening to their body or doing what works for that individual. Without realizing it, I have gone from my first yoga class mainly spent in child’s pose to attending multiple barre and yoga classes each week. More importantly, I feel stronger and more confident in myself and have created a new routine that I look forward to each day. The community created by the owners, instructors, and attendees of Tuck is nothing short of pure magic.

Fit as Tuck! I’m sure each studio is amazing but I’ve only been to the Point Breeze location. 7:15 am Classes taught by Alex C, Amanda B and Callie K have been the best start to my day these last five months. Tuck barre and yoga classes are the absolute best if you live in the NoLibs area! Shortly after moving, I found this gem of a studio and find myself going at least 5 times a week! Each teacher has their own unique style, which doesn't make the workouts seem stale or rehearsed like many other barre classes I've taken over the years. The physical results are fantastic as well as the the emotional well-being it brings me by seeing familiar faces in classes, creating a sense of community.

Really can't say enough good thanks about Tuck! I think the biggest proof of how lovely this studio is that it turned me, a lifelong solo exerciser into a huge fan of the group exercise environment. Made me feel welcome from the first barre class I took (even though I questioned the sanity of that choice from the crazy burn I felt afterwards). It's some combo of the amazing instructors but also the chill atmosphere of your fellow barre and yoga students. Everyone's there to get in a good sweat and have fun, but no one takes it that seriously. Love this place <3

I’ll preface my review by disclosing that I am a former fitness-studio-hopper. Before coming to Tuck, I did pretty much exclusively yoga at tons of different studios and had never tried a barre class. Tuck is the perfect place to explore new fitness styles, and (almost three years later) I haven’t gotten bored yet! Here are some of the reasons to start (and stay!) at Tuck:

1. The studio has a lovely vibe. It’s small, cozy, light-filled, and welcoming. I also appreciate that the bathroom is fully stocked—I’m never skipping class because I forgot a hair tie!
2. If the early COVID days, I switched to outdoor and online classes (also highly recommended) because I was worried the studio would feel too small. When I was ready to return to the studio, I was delighted to see that the owners have taken every precaution to ensure that classes can safely run in person (i.e., mask requirement, vaccine requirement, smaller class sizes, reporting protocols). It probably would have felt fine to stay in person, but it’s also great have the other options when you need them.
3. Tuck is unapologetically authentic and it just feels GOOD to be in that kind of environment. They are refreshingly transparent about where they stand with diversity and inclusion and actively invest in/train/hire teachers with all different body shapes, races, and genders.
4. Teachers will learn your name but don’t ever create expectation or guilt if you need to take time off. It is truly a studio for all seasons of life—come when you’re happy, stressed or sad, feeling fit or feeling sluggish—you’ll be welcomed and supported.
5. The teachers and classes are awesome. There’s a class for every vibe—to totally relax (yin-style Untuck), energize (Barre Bounce), get stronger (Barre), or flow (Feel Good Flow). Some of my favorite teachers, although I’ve never been to a class that I regretted, for yoga: Corey, Barb, Chalise, Yvette, Alex. For barre: Callie, Megan M, Kate, Ann, Jasmine.
6. Regardless of the class type, teachers give you the permission (insistence!) to take things at your own pace and really listen to what modifications are right for the moment, whether that’s to amp it up or take it down a notch. And you’re not expected to come in knowing what those modifications are—you’re given plenty of options and space to figure it out.

Can’t recommend this studio highly enough!

I'm absolutely loving their online classes! After recently moving I wanted to find another barre studio since with everything opening back up, my previous barre studio wasn't uploading many online videos anymore. After some googling, I came across Tuck Barre & Yoga! While they may be across the country from me, their online platform has been wonderful in making me feel like I'm in my local and intimate barre studio, as opposed to the online and chain sterile studios I was trying to avoid! Recently I went through the Barre Teacher training at Tuck. This training was thorough and each day provided me a new layer of information to build and practice upon. It was the best investment I have made as far as fitness certifications go. I would recommend this training to anyone who is looking to get certified to teach. I have been to plenty of studios and this one is by far the best that I have found in Philly. Thank you!
