It is a cozy and welcoming place. The facilities are clean and the instructors are friendly.
Some of the classes are intense and push you close to your limits, and I really feel like I am improving myself whenever I go.

It's awesome if you want pool access. It's clean and the staff are so polite and attentive. Front desk staff are welcoming.
It's less than expected if you have kids. There are very limited classes available in comparison to other branches, like Quakertown or Boyertown. They've even eliminated the older kid zone. No martial arts or sports for pre-teens and teens (unless they like volleyball or pickleball). I'm happy about the pool, but so disappointed that kids older than toddlers have nothing to do. I miss the pre-COVID times and activities that were offered.
Furthermore, I would love to see the aquatic director be able to offer later swim class times or more on the weekends. YMCA membership is expensive, I work during the week from 9-5 and unfortunately that's when most of the swim classes are.

Facility is beautiful. The staff on the other hand, usually not so much. Feels like weβre at boot camp with all the rules. Lifeguards are very young that love telling adults & kids what to do. They love the authority. Itβs like a cult. Too many rules for such a beautiful building

A modern building in which the space is utilized very well: offering a track, two gyms, a large weight room with numerous rows of cardio machines, and both indoor and outdoor pools!

My family and I have been members of the UP YMCA on and off for many years. In the past, I was somewhat disappointed with the class selection and lack of classes during evening hours. However, Iβm happy to say that the recent additions to the group class schedule have been a pleasant surprise! I especially enjoy the Les Mils dance class and BODYBALANCE class taught by Zach. His passion for teaching truly shines through. I now genuinely look forward to attending classes!

It's the best "YMCA" that we have had membership to. From Facilities, to workout equipment, to staffing, to community members. We just moved to PA and joined within 2 days. Our daughter joined swim team and plays volleyball. Thank you all! Very helpful and understanding.

Last weekend I came in at 5, left at 6, and the place closes at 7. This weekend I come in nd lady tells me it closes at 5. She makes a snarky comment about it being summer when I was walking away, like I shouldβve known the place changed hours. Summer quite literally doesnβt start until next week so I donβt know how Iβm supposed to know that.

This YMCA was absolutely amazing and worth are 45-minute drive. We have a 5-year-old son and the YMCAs around us. Do not have much for the children. After calling and finding out this place has a little kids slide, we decided to check it out. Not only did they have a slide and a mushroom umbrella but they had a lot of toys for the kids to play with also. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be going back and look at this as our primary YMCA.

I would like to start by saying I do not have any children in the summer camp, but I have a major complaint about the counselors. I was recently at the movies when they were on a field trip to see the same movie. Throughout the entire movie the kids would not stop talking, making jokes, clapping, and even screaming. The issue with this is that the counselors would not do anything to stop the kids from ruining the movie experience for everyone. The counselors need take more responsibility with these children. Only send your children here if you are okay with them not have any valuable adult supervision. Last I would like to note that the counselors took our prepaid seats and knew they were our seats yet made no effort to move. Please make more of an effort in training these counselors before sending them in public with children. Thank you.

I absolutely love the Y and the facility, but I wanted to share some feedback about our recent experience. As a member of the Harleysville YMCA, I was excited to visit the Pennsburg gym with my fiancΓ© to explore the possibility of her becoming a member there. Unfortunately, our experience didn't go as smoothly as we hoped.
We encountered some confusion with their membership/ guest policy and felt there was a lack of professionalism with the staff member we spoke with. I believe there's value in allowing potential new members to try out the facility for their first time. When we asked about a day pass, we were immediately told βno, we donβt do that.β We did not want to use the outdoor pool, which we were uncomfortably assumed to be. Instead of being welcomed, we were told to "go back to your own YMCA," which left us disappointed.
I think it would be beneficial to have a clearer and more consistent policy across YMCAs to ensure a positive experience for all guests and members. We ended up going to her gym, where I could be a guest without any issues.
I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future visitors and contributes to the overall positive environment the Y is known for. Thanks.

I literally was thinking of going to the closest LA, but I got to go with a friends guest pass and o my goodness am I glad I went with this Y it is so clean!!! And I mean CLEAN! The locker rooms are clean, the bathrooms are clean the pools are clean, the hot tub is clean, the sauna is clean! The gym is clean! The people are nice and for the times I go it's never busy! I love this place! I always thought it was a bit expensive so I never went to any of my local Y's but if you're a quality kinda person this is one place is worth it! And I haven't even tried the trainers or the classes yet and they have plenty of things for kids! And family's! Also the open out door pools during the summer are going to be super exciting! Try it out for yourself!

I have been a member of a few gyms in the past. The one thing that makes this YMCA truly superior is that I seldom find anyone using their cellphones in the locker room. I hope you keep enforcing this policy.
At a gym I which I was a member of previously, there was quite a bit of filming of the men in the showers and in states of undress in the locker rooms. I was told by the management of the gym that they were unable to stop it. When I subsequently resigned, the manager refused to put the true reason I was leaving. I complained to the corporate headquarters. I was told that I had to tell them the website that videos of me were being posted to. Otherwise they refused to do anything to stop it.
I hope your NO CELLPHONE USE in the locker rooms continues to be strictly enforced. This is the most important aspect of my gym experience.

It's a pretty standard YMCA. Problem is their employees/contractors lack emotional intelligence and empathy. I just had two bus drivers make an anonymous complaint about me taking too long in my car. Y'all got no business in my business if I'm minding my own. I was not causing any trouble to anyone. I am disheartened and disappointed by their actions and affect.

We joined primarily for the use of the pools and have been members since the facility first opened. The pool hours have become increasingly more restrictive over the years. It seems there is very limited availability for swimming and preference is given to swim teams. More options need to be available to serve the children, seniors, disabled, and everyone else who makes up the community.

If youβre looking for a gym go somewhere else I walked in and walked right back out. I wanted to try their facility to make sure it was a facility that I would like to be coming to every day they would not even permit me to buy a guest pass or a weeklong membership they wanted me to spend all my money upfront on a membership before even touring the facility or trying out any of the equipment. At a place that is supposed to be open for the community they sure are not open for the community. I have gone to several YMCAβs that have treated me much better and have given me free day passes before. I suggest going to the max fitness clubs up the street from them much cheaper membership and way friendlier staff with zero hassle hope this helps people looking for a gym.

This place is amazing. The best YMCA experience I have ever had. Three indoor pools and an outdoor pool. Sauna and whirlpool are nice, and everything is brand new. When you arrive it looks like a ski lodge meets a hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely recommend it. Update January 2nd 2023: the pool area is closed between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. everyday so if you are going there to swim or to use the sauna, the steam room or the whirlpool, make sure you're aware of that.

I love this gym,
but I did not enjoy the childcare situation. If I dropped my kids off during the morning hours at all- it was complete chaos in that room. I feel like every mom felt a little unsettled dropping kids off in that environment.
We were members at a different YMCA before, so I can compare and say that Upper Perk childwatch needs an overhaul... possibly dividers up in rooms based on age, and a smaller staff to child ratio.

My family and I have been members of the Y for a couple years now. Iβve read a lot of the reviews here. I donβt have any problems with the staff, they always seem to be helpful when I have a question. I do tend to keep myself however. The programs they offer for my kids are best in the valley. The child watch, I used more when my kids were younger, was ok. The staff wasnβt thrilled, but to be honest if I had to watch a ton of wild kids I wouldnβt be thrilled either. I never had any issues with equipment, maybe just that from machine to machine you could have different results and a different workout, but i feel you can get that at any gym.

nice facility but as others have mentioned - the hours are limited considering the cost of membership, especially open/lap swimming hours at the pool.
they should at least stay open til 10pm 7 days a week, if not later and expand pool hours especially on weekends. maybe add a few late nights considering they open at 5am every weekday (we arent all farmers!) such a nice facility should be open longer!
PS - what is the $99 "joining fee" for??

I was pleasantly surprised when I found the Upper Perk Y in such close proximity to us. The facility boasted a number of quality machines, several pools, a whirlpool and sauna. I particularly need the whirlpool for a continuing back therapy regimen.
To date, we are going on the 2nd year of membership and as I might have expected the quality has deteriorated. Currently, three out of the 5 shower stalls have been shut down, the machines I use do not receive regular adjustments, the whirlpool closes at the most inconvenient times, the sauna hovers around a mild 160 degrees, and overall there is little concern by the staff.
On top of that, there seems to be an inclination from the staff to lock down the inside of the pool area the minute the forecast calls for thunder, including whirlpool and sauna. Their answer always seems to be 'it's for your own protection, sir'.
....and management wonders why membership suffers? They could serve the clients better. The proverbial honeymoon is over.
