Dwayne is the trainer you didn’t know you needed. I promise - whether you are a young athlete, a middle-aged weekend warrior, or an active older adult, you will get the workout you need at Vertex. As a former elite level gymnast who has trained with Olympic-level strength coaches, I know what works. As a former strength trainer, I have high standards. The workouts at Vertex have exceeded my expectations in effectiveness and safety. I am stronger now than I have ever been in my adult life. Sure, you may strength train on your own, but you cannot get the results as quickly and safely as you would by working out with Dwyane.

ive been going to personal trainers for 30 years, which is best way to train. dwayne is by far the most hands on, the most effective personal trainer ive ever had. the first month is an adjustment as he takes his time to see your fitness level and ability, but once you get past that adjustment, its the most effective weight workout ive ever had and ive been training my whole life. HIGHLY Recommended!!

I'm a retired PT in my early 70's who received a "personal training" gift to Vertex. I started training with Dwayne ~ 6 months ago in January. I have to admit I was pretty skeptical that this would be a "been there, done that" experience. It has been far from it.
Dwayne is laser focused on spending one on one uninterrupted time training during each session, never once saying "Do 5 more reps, I'll be right back!" His attention to form and his knowledge of functional anatomy and physiology is impressive.
After 6 months of training I'm seeing results. I have more energy during the day and my posture has improved. My 2 mile fast walks are more efficient, and I can get down on the floor easier and actually get up without holding onto anything.
I never thought I'd say this but Dwayne is the Real Deal!

after years of being a gym/fitness class rat, I started working out with Dwayne in February 2024. Within 6 months seeing Dwayne twice a week, I started seeing real results and a year after (April 2025) the results are even more impressive. The sessions are "just" 30 mins but Dwayne works on isolating muscles which is worth many hours in a class which was hard to believe at first. Dwayne listens but pushes you to go beyond what you think would be your limits and you will be surprised to see how much you can accomplish with him. Dwayne made a real difference in my training!!

For several years before turning 71 this May, I considered going to a trainer to improve my strength and fitness. But hearing of bad experiences from friends and acquaintances made me hesitate. Common complaints were trainers who lacked knowledge of exercise physiology, did not explain why certain exercises were performed, did not customize workouts, or consider the goals and initial fitness status of the client.

Based on the enthusiastic recommendation of my son, I took advantage of a free session and evaluation at Vertex Fitness in April of 2023. I was deeply impressed with Dwayne Wimmer’s thoroughness in evaluating my needs and outlining a workout regimen to address them. After four months of three 30-minute sessions a week, my strength and endurance are greatly improved.

Dwayne’s workouts are highly efficient. He leads you through exercises with a focus on proper form to achieve the greatest benefit and avoid injury. Dwayne emphasizes that the purpose of the workouts is not to achieve the same result for everyone, but rather the best result in the context of each client’s individual potential. I’m 67 and have had multiple spine surgeries and both rotator cuffs repaired. As a two sport former college athlete I had almost given up playing squash and tennis and then a friend told me about Dwayne at Vertex. Great one on one training. I have been going to Vertex since July 2015. The programs are specialized to your needs. The trainers focus on technique, then gradually add more weight. The training has been a good outlet for me during current times. I highly recommend trying Vertex out. You will not be disappointed.

I have several health issues (hypermobility, low bone density, and more) that left me weaker and in constant pain. I knew I needed to make a change but was very nervous to start down this road for fear of greater injury.

Dwayne listens to everything and created a plan that works for me. I have been working with Dwayne for almost 20 years. He was the first trainer I found who was able to work around old injuries and keep me sound and fit while putting off double knee replacement. After the surgery, he was sensitive to my pain ( and my anxieties about working the new joints) and led me back to full use, and again the following year after I had shoulder repair.

I can not recommend Dwayne highly enough, especially for aging or injured athletes and people who are working through recoveries. He is simply the best.

Efficient focus on strengthening by isolation and working muscles to fatigue. Dwayne does a great job guiding us through the process (which is as much mental as it is physical). He also does a great job building in routines when we are ready for it and not throwing everything at you in the first session. I've been a client since Jan 2018. After my foot surgery, I thought I will never recover and need to rely on the walking boot rest of my life. As a Registered Dietitian with a specialty in weight loss and weight management, strength training is what I recommend my clients , especially women over 40. Strength training allows you to build and maintain muscle. The more muscle you have, the greater your resting metabolic rate will be. This means that as you are sitting on the couch flipping through channels your body will still be burning a greater number of calories. If you are able to maintain the same muscle mass in your 50’s and 60’s as you did when you were younger, you will have little to no decline in metabolism as you age.

I personally strength train with Dwayne and highly recommend Vertex Fitness due to their safe, efficient and scientific approach. His friendly, personable, can do approach keeps me motivated through out my session. I 've been working out with Dwayne for over a year now and have seen many improvements in my fitness ranging from gaining more muscle mass to feeling stronger and lighter.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?" That is what I yelled/asked myself a few weeks ago when I realized the confidence in my strength and appearance was sliding. Sure, I work out every day but that's just "working out." I wasn't training myself the way my body required outside of running intervals or climbing obstacles. Quick backstory: I met Dwayne with Vertex going on 13 years ago(!). I started strength training with him and in a matter of a few months (if not weeks) I started to see results. I was getting stronger in all the right places. My confidence went up. My body responded to the type of proven training he and his team gives each client. Then life got in the way and after a few years I had to back off due to proximity of my job. But I am back now. And it was like I never left. Vertex's new studio is awesome and full of energy. Dwayne definitely knows his stuff so I don't have to ask if this machine is right for me or if that move will help my upper body. It's real magic that works.
