An awesome gym. Iβve been going to wrights for a couple years and can honestly say if youβre a serious gym goer or someone just looking to stay in shape Wrights is for you.
It perfectly captures that dungeon gym vibe but with a clean and well kept environment.
Dave and his staff are all about as kind as it can get as well.

I am so impressed with this gym. I was nervous to start here back in May. Dave personally reached out to me and made sure all my questions were answered and I was reassured about my anxiety to start at a new gym. Rick is a great worker and personal trainer. He is very informative and helpful. The class instructors are amazing and work with you so well when you are new. It truly feels like I am part of the community just by going here. I always feel welcome and everyone is so nice! I cannot stress this enough; the classes are amazing and SO worth it!! Dave is very involved and even teaches some of the classes. Coming from Planet Fitness, this gym was a total GAME CHANGER! Thank you to all of Wrightβs staff for the hard work you do!

Wright's is the place to be! I travel a lot for work and was only able to be there for a month, but it was worth every penny. The coaches are all extremely nice and knowledgable, classes are a blast, and there's even a regular gym in addition to the scheduled classes! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to improve their physical fitness!

I asked the gym staff for a spot on 425. I asked for 2 side spots as I didn't trust that he could spot me alone, he insisted that we wouldn't need it and he was greatly offended that I asked.
well we failed the squat and went straight down. luckily I had the safeties but there are no safeties on bench so if I would have failed my bench PR.
he continued to come up to me and tell me he "should have been closer" and "knew I didn't have it". I have been unable to return as I don't think I can safely lift and I am locked into a year long membership.
2 stars because I did like it for the time being, but one deadlift platform limits things.
I put my safety above all else when lifting, and them not having a single bench with safeties is a HUGE red flag.

I was a member of Wrights Gym for a few years while living in the area. I tend to travel a lot and so I have been to a huge variety of gyms all over the world. This gym 100% deserves 5 stars. What is unique about this gym is that its not just a place to lift weights. This gym has a loyalty base to the owner and the community that it has created. If you want to come here and just become a beast or you want to loose weight or you want to do self defense classes. You can do it and nobody will stop you. I sorta was slightly the odd man out bc in my journey I have done all the Cross Fit and heavy lifting and now just value Yoga or Kinetic style workouts but on occasion I deff go through heavy lifting phases. I honestly believe with the following this place has and the quality of equipment and leadership, the place could expand into a huge compound vs being hidden in a basement. I honestly think it has that kind of potential. To find a gym like this is pretty rare. I enjoyed my time here as I was traveling in and out of town and do recommend this place if you want a no BS gym. However you just have to look past the fact that you have to be able to take the GRIT that comes along with it.
Good place, secret gem really. I hope they expand someday because they deff have that potential.

Self defense is a needs be of a good man. To protect others, to serve the public. To protect oneself. Victims of crime and bullying get the ability to finally speak out. To heal.
This is a great gym with good people who want what is best for you. They will make you a stronger person.
Be army strong. Go to Wrights. Support the blue.

If you're looking for a "GYM" to workout at-with no frills, fashion shows or nonsense...then this is the place to get it on. Wright's is 26,000 sq ft. of practical space, functionality & equipment. The service is friendly down-home personal & the instruction is 2nd to none...the members are willing & able to lend a hand too. No wonder this Independent Gym has lasted since 1981! So many franchises have come & gone...but this Gem of a Gym continues to rock with its firm Foundation...Dave Wright is the owner & is First Class all the way. If you haven't dropped in yet or if it's been a long time; you def owe it to yourself to ask for a Free Tour & discover the best secret in town...no lie. Tell Morning Rick, Evening Rick or Caleb...that Bill sent ya!

When I was a member last year I really can say that it was overcrowded the weights were good the cardio machines were good but you weren't able to use the punching bags or none of the other things cuz you run by different people of course other than that it was just a problem if you wanted to be alone it was hard cuz it's definitely overcrowded and small

My son was checking out several different facilities, and found Wrights Gym in Crafton to be above and beyond what other chain gyms were offering. Being a beginner he went for the straight gym membership, and the prices were decent. Love supporting local businesses :) As he advances... I'm sure several classes will be added sooner than later. The gentleman that helped us, was knowledgeable, kind, and very professional. Thank you for making my son feel like home.

I didnt even take the free week of classes fell in love with muay thai on the first day and I'm only learning the basics. Already met a couple of new friends. And my self esteem and confidence is real low. But after working with a few of the instructors and met the owner I have a feeling I'm going be here along time training. They have state of the art equipment and a very clean gym from what I've seen. The whole staff cares about you. I live around the harmarville area and I drive 32 mins to get here I love this place. I just wished they had later classes for muay thai and krav. Because I think I'm gonna upgrade my membership. The bad thing is I never know when I will get done with work because I drive a truck that hauls brick and block. So my hours vary. Other than that every member I met so far is really cool and will help you out alot.

Been going to gyms all my adult life and this one for three years now. It is the best by far and keeps me in the shape of my life. Coming here is easy because I have fun amongst the good people - but am also pushed to train hard.
The equipment and facilities have been continuously upgraded and improved since I've been here. There is a wide variety of equipment, classes, and personal training available here- really something for everyone.
Best gym ever!

I had a bad experience that left me feeling extremely scared and vulnerable shortly after I moved to the city last year. I was looking for a place that offered self-defense classes, and was really hoping to find something group-focused instead of one-on-one with a trainer since I was nervous to begin with.
I emailed Dave about the class and was really thrilled with the convenient class schedule, and that I could try out a class for free before I committed to a full membership.
The first time I went to Krav Maga, I felt like I really got my butt kicked! I hadnβt worked out in a couple of years, which was my fault. It was honestly such a wonderful experience!
Everyone at this gym, staff and members, are all kind and friendly. I was intimidated by the amount of people in there doing serious lifting, and was afraid I would be out of place or in the way. All of my experiences there have proved that to be completely incorrect! We are all respectful and, especially in the group classes I participate in, so incredibly encouraging of each other! No judgement whatsoever, just happiness and eagerness to help you fit in and achieve your goals!
I also originally thought I could sign up for one month and take all of the classes I could, then just be a little more prepared in the future. I was wrong about that too, and I will be really sad if I have to move again and lose the opportunity to continue improving, learning, and amping up my confidence!
Thank you so much!

This is the best gym Iβve ever joined. Dave has done something really awesome for the community and every ounce of this business is ethical, transparent, and dedicated to helping you meet your goals.
The employees are all super friendly and you feel like you are not just a client/member, but a friend. The atmosphere is super supportive and, unlike commercial gyms, this is ACTUALLY the judgment free zone.
Iβm moving to Virginia and wish I could take this gym with me. Theyβve made a ton of positive changes recently and I canβt wait to see what they do next.
This is a gym where the staff are qualified, professional, and are not just out to take your money. When I told them I was moving, they told me exactly how to cancel as to not waste any extra money. I would strongly recommend to anyone.

Best gym I've been too since losing access to collegiate facilities. A good portion of the equipment consists of machines and bars that most commercial gyms do not carry. Examples include their pitshark machine, and trap/hammer bars for different lift variations. If you are serious about training to be the best you can be in any activity, Wrights will get you there, mentally as well as physically. The atmosphere is great!

Great gym with ALMOST no back draws. Well worth the $25/month.
Pros:
- Great atmosphere. I prefer to be left alone while working out, and everyone is very respectful of that. Others chat and hang out, very friendly. There are beginners and experts. Great vibe for anyone.
- Lots of great equipment. Outside of specific strongman or Highland games lifts, I can't imagine many workouts that couldn't fit at Wright's.
- Price is great. Can't beat $25/month outside of Planet Fitness, and PF doesn't have nearly the selection of equipment.
- I haven't been there during peak hours, but I've never had an issue with it being too packed. Pretty calm.
Cons:
- Not a ton of room for Olympic lifting. However, since I've never seen it too packed, it's never been an issue.
- The drinking water tastes terrible. While I highly recommend Wright's, I also recommend you bring your own water. Not sure if this is an issue with the pipes or the municipal water, but it's not a huge deal.
- Definitely could be more mirrors. I like to do a lot of technique-heavy lifting, and more mirrors would be nice. Not too big of a deal, since you can always plan your routine around where the mirrors are.

I moved to Pittsburgh two years ago and searched extensively to find the best gym in the area. I chose Wrightβs and never looked back. The atmosphere and energy canβt be replicated. The owner Dave and his staff have been wonderful to be around. They will take the time to talk to you and get to know you.
Any serious lifter looking in the Pittsburgh area should make Wrightβs their first place to look. You will find all you need. There are four benches, three cages, four areas under the monkey bars to set up a barbell however you want and a deadlift platform. Dumbbells, cable machine, GHR and a pit shark to name a few more.
This place has a well developed culture of progress, discipline and a supportive atmosphere. The vast majority of people here are serious about their goals. Do not let that intimidate you if you are just getting started however. The regulars will be more than willing to lend a hand or give you a spot. They also have trainers who I cannot speak directly of their services but can say are great people.
If you need a great gym with all the right equipment and an environment to foster success, Wrightβs will be your choice.

PROS: Overall, not a bad place to exercise. Plenty of equipment both weight training and cardio, trainers/staff are Respectable.
CONS: Some Housekeeping needed, Equipment needs properly leveled, Need to provide towels with membership, Provide a clean water source (water fountain/faucets produce questionable drinking water).
I perform about 50% of my workouts at home and the other 50% at Wright's. I wouldn't have it any other way...

I've been going to Wright's Gym for eight years now. I find it is an all in one type of facility, from yoga to fighting classes, cross fit and even a tanning bed if your into that. There are no other gyms like this one in the Pittsburgh area. Dave the owner does an excellent job at managing his gym and keeping everything clean and up to date. The only thing missing and that I would like to see added to the gym at some point is a sauna.

This place is a rare combination. On one hand, it's a hard-core weight pit in a basement in Crafton.
On the other hand, it's filled with the most no-nonsense genuine and friendly people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
The combination of a serious workout facility and a legitimately welcoming atmosphere results in a clientèle that ranges widely in demographic, fitness level, and experience, but I have never seen anyone treated with anything less than 100% respect.
Pretty much the polar opposite of one of those big franchise gyms.

Returned to Wrightβs today after 3+ months away. I was pleasantly surprised with a couple new additions to the gym (GHR and Pitshark) which I will definitely use.
I was more surprised with being approached by the owner about my previous review (Glad they read them). He was very nice about it and was not confrontational. He basically wanted know why I was displeased and why I chose to return. I explained that I was not a fan of the new changes, but I still thought the gym was one of the better in the area. He reassured me that more positive changes are on the way and welcomed me back.
I was very impressed by this interaction and will give him the benefit of doubt. Because of that I changed my review from 2 stars to 4 stars. If these changes pan out, I will definitely raise it to 5 stars. Still probably the best gym in the area and you canβt beat $24.99.

I recently moved to the Pittsburgh area and am very glad I found/joined this gym. It has a huge weight room and a ton of mat space, both of which are never overcrowded. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors (Brad and Dave) are extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, and give you the individual attention you need in order to learn and progress. The membership rates are also extremely reasonable, and in my opinion you actually get more than what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking to better themselves and be surrounded by like minded people with grit.

This gym is great, everyone was friendly and welcoming, and Krav Maga was fun! What impressed me the most about Wright's Gym is its testament to being a well run, local facility... when I moved out of town for a job change I originally ran into an issue with my contract obligations. David Wright, the owner of Wright's Gym, followed up with me almost immediately and promptly resolved my issue... that down to earth honesty and flexibility is just not present at larger gyms, so it makes this business worthy of support. If you've never tried martial arts or Krav Maga before and are a little self conscious about your lack of experience- don't worry, you will fit right in, & other gym members took me under their wing, too. Great place, I definitely recommend checking it out. =)

In addition to our Muay Thai program, Wright's Gym has an incredible array of lifting and cardio equipment, the only endorsed Krav Maga training in the city, and as a sub-affiliate of SCMA, outstanding Brazilian Jujitsu (BJJ). I started regular workout routines at Wright's gym in August last year, and then in January I began participating in Krav Maga classes. I have been considering taking some extra combatives here to take advantage of the wide range of expertise. Instructors are experienced and enthusiastic. They use a wide variety of methods to motivate their students. From Tim's sincerity, to Brian's passion, to Dave's perfectly timed whit, you get it all here. The conditioning classes with Brian more than prepare one's body for the physical aspect of whatever you are learning here - whether it is Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, etc. The many instructors draw from real world experience to prepare you mentally. All you have to bring is initiative, initiative, and initiative. Whether you're thinking about prepping for the ring or just want to keep from being defenseless, this is the place to start. Expect a return for your investment, because you get it.

Being a former college football player and being a free agent in the NFL, I have done a lot of workingout and training. Last night I trained at Wright's Gym in two of their Krav Maga classes, first David Wright, Instructor George and staff are some of the finest, personable, and polite people around. They made me feel like I have known them all for my entire 18 years in Law Enforcement and life long friends of my family. The classes in Krav Maga were simply AWESOME! If you are in Law Enforcement, you need to get to Wright's Gym and take these classes! It might just save your butt one day! An awesome cardio workout, life saving defense techniques, and second to none in professionalism and teaching!! Wright's Gym is where the Law Enforcement Professionals need to Be!!!!!
