I was previously 2018-20 a member and liked AF Newport, RI. The location is great for me. It was clean and had all the space and equipment necessary for a good workout. I recently decided to go back to this gym using my BCBS insurance plan. Beginning July 1, nothing but problems with management. Many calls, text messages, email not acknowledged. Two appointments to meet with staff (Gabe) and he was a no-show. My last communication was with the owner. I gave her the history of staff not responding and my Fob information to hopefully start my membership and access to the gym. She said that she would get back to me - that was a week ago. I called back, texted with no response. An awful experience and big waste of money. Paid $$$ and got nothing in return.

I have been a member here for years and can personally attest to the high quality equipment, training staff and facilities at this AF location. The ownership team does a great job of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and I would highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a gym. Very welcoming environment.

I have tried three times over the course of 2 years to get in touch with somebody in order to get guest passes here while visiting Newport with no success. It's crazy to call and email a business multiple times and never get a response. Bad business!

Everything you would expect from a gym, one recommendation however is to get rid of old treadmills and space out the ones left over at the front window, that way people don't avoid using the middle one because personal space.

I asked to sign up here and Gabe never called back. Interestingly enough there is a Gabe in the comments here talking about how great this place is. I think conflicts of interest like that are against Google's review policy. Anyway, he must have other priorities bc after 4 trips to their locked gym and multiple messages and calls with no response I gave up.

DON'T SIGN UP WITH THIS LOCATION!

I have had a horrible experience with this locations staff. I have been attempting for weeks to cancel my membership with no success. For one, no one is ever present. Heads up guys, you HAVE to cancel your membership in person, with a staff member... kinda hard to cancel when no one is there. Furthermore, I have called many times, for many days, no success. I called corporate and they emailed this location on my behalf, STILL no answer. I have contacted corporate yet again to cancel my membership. So far corporate is attempting to reach the ownership of this location and is documenting my experience. It should not be this difficult to cancel my membership. For anyone considering choosing this location to sign up, consider all this trouble I have gone through and save yourself the headache.

Could be cleaner. Bottle fill doesnt look like it's ever been cleaned.

Update- After a year, the whole place remains relatively unclean. Bathrooms I don't think are ever mopped, machines are never fully cleaned, spray bottles/towels to wipe down machines are often empty, etc

It's not uncommon to see a puddle of urine on the floor of a bathroom and then see the dried remains many days later.

Pretty common for machines to be out of order for weeks at a time.

On the plus side it's pretty quiet, everyone is pretty polite, and most everyone is just doing their own thing.

I love working out here! I can literally go anytime which is nice since past gyms I've gone to have had hours that never work with my schedule. There's always plenty of equipment and machines to use if I want to do something on my own. But my favorite part is working with my trainer, Carina. Never thought I would do PT but it was was super easy to sign up. Plus she pushes me harder than I ever could on my own while having fun. I'm super happy overall with my experience going here 😁

I’ve been a as member for 4 years now and truly love the attention the staff provides especially during COVID as they ensure we are wearing masks as well as keeping the place clean. There’s nothing negative you can say about the gym or staff. The owners are great and always are friendly. I’ve worked out at a time of gyms but hands down this is the best place to be. You won’t be judged on ur workouts and I can’t forget how great the trainers are. If you need or want a great place to get in shape my vote goes to Anytime Fitness.

Absolutely love this gym! They have paper towels and disinfectant everywhere to clean the machines and sanitizer at the door! They have
a good lifting area with plenty of machines/equipment.The staff are super friendly and nice. The classes here will definitely whip you into shape and make you sweat like crazy! They also have challenges every once in a while with great prizes which keeps you motivated!

I have been trying to set up a membership for weeks now. I cannot get people to call back or make an appointment. Im completely disappointed with how this franchise is running. I worked with Anytime Corporate for 6 years. I have never once met a multi club owner (owns middletown as well) with such terrible customer service. A gym is suppose to be there to help people change their lives. Im appalled by the lack of caring and sales quality. I will definitely be reporting to corporate and I will write reviews on every outlet I can. Completwly unprofessional service.
