I returned to Crossfit Windrose about a year ago now. I had fallen out of my workout routine and I was also searching for a community of people who support each other and push each other to hit goals. This is the perfect place for that. All of the coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and kind! The community is like no other! Everyone is treated like family. Where to even start… CrossFit Windrose has improved my life in so many ways, making me mentally and physically stronger, developing friendships and being part of a community that can make you smile or laugh even on the darkest days. All you have to do is show up. Expert trainers who are there to help every step of the way- from form to nutrition to just caring about how you can reach your goals. There is nothing that can’t be accomplished here and I’m so happy to say it is my space where I get to focus on my health and well being. This month last year, I reached out to David inquiring about the gym, programs and fee after completing my first Spartan Race. David reached out to me and we scheduled an informational session in which he went into details about CrossFit WindRose, how CrossFit works, your personal goals, etc. I left our meeting feeling good and shortly after, I signed up and it has been the BEST decision I’ve done (switching from traditional gym to CrossFit group workouts)!
It all looks intimidating at first but the coaches , the members, the environment and flexibility make it easy and enjoyable. The coaches are always there to help and give positive feedback. The members make the environment very family like and supportive. Windrose members just want to see everyone win/conquer the WOD! Lastly, the flexibility of scaling down your workout especially for beginners. There is always an option if you can’t do certain movements.
I can keep going on and on but you will have to just check it out yourself!

CrossFit can be an intimidating and often misunderstood lifestyle. That is the last thing you feel after five minutes of being in this gym. It was a truly welcoming experience and I’m glad to see that hasn’t changed at all after five years for my family being a part of this gym. The strides that the coaches and teammates go to ensure everyone feels welcome and realizes that we are all in this journey to our goals together is an inspiration and great to see at every class and community event the gym holds. I can honestly say that this Crossfit Community has helped me through the continous process of living with grief. A parent who loses a child never stops grieving, but they can build the strength to keep living and honoring their child. I started my fitness journey with Dave, where I completed personal training with him three times a week for about three months. Dave helped me set obtainable and realistic fitness goals for myself that I wanted to accomplish by the summer. I have been coming to CrossFit Windrose for over two years. I have enjoyed my time with CFW, they have helped me lose over 60 pounds, hit milestones in weightlifting and improved every aspect of my fitness. Dave and the other coaches check in with you, offer help at ever step during workouts and are genuinely friendly. There’s so much great to say about Windrose. From the welcoming atmosphere to the diversity in each and every class. The coaches and even the other members will literally find a way to help in any way. The biggest plus for me aside from the amazing ppl is that I’m able to bring my kids when I need to. There’s no excuse to not make it and that has helped me stay consistent and excited for what’s to come. Ps. There’s always something fun to do outside of the classes where we can gather up and get to know each other a bit more outside of our workout clothes.

I have tried many many workout programs, F45, Orange theory, cycling, personal training at other gyms, and going at it on my own, and I can whole heartedly say that Crossfit WindRose is the BEST I have ever done. You won'y get bored and the workouts are highly effective. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and each class includes a thorough warm up and review of the movements to ensure you won't get injured. 10/10 recommend : )

I would have to say that this is a great gym. I was a little intimidated being older than most members but Dave is the best mentor and all his coaches are awesome. Every week I go I can do something I couldn’t do the week before. You will never get hurt as they are always correcting form. So if you want to try a different gym that takes you out of your comfort zone this is the place to go!!

I started at CrossFit Windrose after my gym shut down permanently during the pandemic. I have been a member at Crossfit Windrose for about 9 months and I have really improved my fitness and confidence at crossfit in that time. The coaches are incredibly supportive and the community is fun. Also, shout out to the owner, Dave, who puts in a lot of effort to make the gym special- scheduling fun competitions, holiday parties, and other “extras” that I know are a lot of work, but we all really enjoy. Ive been a member of CFWR for over 2 years and have been doing CF for almost 8 years. The environment here is very accommodating to beginners and scales well for advanced athletes who need a bigger challenge. We do intramural competitions which are unique and keeps everyone engaged while having year round activities that are family friendly. Everyday is an engaging workout and they have a good schedule for people who work 9 to 5 and can’t spend all day in the gym. Highly recommended.

It will be hard to summarize how positive an experience discovering CrossFit Windrose has been for me.
- I was nervous walking through the doors.
- Some of the movements I had never heard of
- A lot of the movements I could barely do with just a bar.
All of that melted away very quickly.
Dave the owner and one of the coaches is an amazing individual. He is a very attentive coach and is willing to modify to anyone's needs. He never pushes beyond your comfort zone, but if you want to learn a movement and improve he is there to correct your form and help you.
The entire community is supportive. It doesn't matter what shape you're in, whatever your personal best is, you'll have people sincerely cheering for you on your journey.
I never thought I'd be someone who goes to the gym every day, but here I am. Over the past 6 months I have put on over 10lbs of muscle, done things I didn't know I ever would, and have met a lot of great people.
If you find yourself at a 6AM class I'll probably be there to say hi and congratulate you on your new PR.

I had some serious fitness goals and joined CrossFit WindRose to see if I could attain them. Needed to find a new CrossFit gym after moving, and this one was the exact vibe I was looking for. You aren't going to see any Games Athletes here, but you'll find a bunch of everyday people working to stay fit, healthy and strong. Programming is a great mix of strength, cardio and skill work, while also getting plenty of prehab and mobility as well.
Everyone is welcoming and friendly, classes are fairly small and the coaches are great. If you're looking for a place to get fit and strong for life, this is a great community to join.

My teenage son started going and I was driving him and waiting in the car and then I started to think why am I not just doing these classes with him. Why? Because I scared, I was afraid I wouldn’t fit in and that I wouldn’t be able to do any of the exercises and would be embarrassed. Well I signed up and haven’t looked back. The coaches here are amazing and this is 100% a NO JUDGMENT ZONE. it’s a place where everyone is family and encourages you to do your best to help you succeed in your goals. I started going to CrossFit windrose in August. I am not super athletic and I am overweight. I have to say from the moment I walked in I felt so comfortable. Dave is amazing at what he does and breaks down everything for you. I had never done CrossFit before and didn’t know much about it , I watched it on television and that was the extent of my knowledge. It doesn’t matter where you are on your journey you can learn how to do this . They teach you the correct movements and modify everything so that it fits where you at and your first couple of classes the coach is there pretty much holding your hand through it. I still ask questions and need help and it’s okay they are there for you every step of the way. You aren’t thrown to the wolves. Honestly the nicest most welcoming gym I’ve ever been too. Everyone is so supportive. I love it here.

Windrose is simply put the best gym in RI. All the Coaches are super friendly and really take the time to teach you proper technique, allow you to take the time to learn it and help you get better. It is a place where you go and always feel welcome and they foster an environment of inclusion no matter what. I have learned so much since starting and continue to look forward to each work out. Big plus that there is always fun extras going on too, not just standard classes - teen and kids programs, OCR Training, gymnastics and other special clinics, beer miles, slip and slides, and movie nights to name a few! Windrose is by far the best! They always have us stretch before and after a workout which is so important!! They explain and demonstrate every movement before we do any kind of lifting. Very family and pet friendly, always doing different classes for kids/teens! Very knowledgeable and supportive! Everyone there is super friendly and will cheer you on!! Crossfit Windrose provided me with an outlet during the COVID shutdown through online classes, challenges, and fb community group. There are a variety of opportunities to assist a healthy lifestyle from nutrition assistance and plans, body scans, small group clinics, one on one training, crossfit classes with a supportive community, ocr classes, outings, and local team events like road races, Backyard Games, just to name a few. The best experience I’ve ever had creating a fitness routine (it’s been over a year and I’ve actually stuck with it)! The owner Dave is super and always coming up with new ways to keep his members motivated on their Fitness journeys. Throughout COVID the environment at CF windrose has been kept clean, safe, and modified to keep up with the regulations. The programmed workouts are always fun and rewarding even if they are challenging. My favorite part about being a member at CrossFit windrose aside from the gym dogs and the awesome people :), is that the workouts can be modified to any skill level and the coaches do a great job making sure the members understand whatever it is they need to do. This experience is similar to having a personal trainer (which they also offer, as well as nutrition guidance) in a socially distanced group setting. Come check them out- you will love it there!

As someone who has worked out in several different gyms for the last decade I wasn't sure what to expect with CrossFit. I figured hey I'm in shape enough and should be able to sail through most things. When meeting with Dave, the owner, during my initial consultation he said I think you'll be surprised by the first workout. He was not wrong and it was very challenging but made me commit to get better. All of coaches have been very helpful and work with you to see continuous improvements. There is always a modification if you can't get to something (yet!) or if you have a limitation. The gym community has been great as well even during these COVID times. I recommend to anyone do a consultation and take a class to see what you have and what they can offer. Not only this but the gym also offers periodic challenges to continue the motivation process. I'm glad to be a part of the gym and community.

I’d like to start this review with a HUGE round of applause to Dave and the rest of the CrossFit Windrose family. Throughout this entire pandemic they made a quick transition to zoom classes. Dave frequently communicates with members about their goals and updates everyone on the latest COVID guidelines. Throughout the online transition Dave has helped keep member fitness morale through “Shred” challenges, bingo challenges, and lending equipment to those who needed it to complete their at home workouts. Additionally, he has built outdoor workout stations for capped class sizes when we return and ordered masks and individual chalk for each member!
About a year ago I joined CrossFit Windrose with an open mind because my best friend started doing CrossFit in Oklahoma -where she lives- and became in the best shape of her life. Previously, I had always been a yogi/planet fitness goer, but I wanted to get more into weight training. The classes are normally in groups which will now be smaller due to COVID, but have always been adjusted to individual members based on their physical abilities and endurance. My two favorite things about windrose are that the workouts challenge me in a way that is modifiable to be completed (so essentially, I always leave there feeling accomplished with my workout), and the other members of the gym want everyone else to succeed and are there cheering you on when you’re finishing a workout you never thought was physically possible previously. My mental and physical health have greatly improved, I lost some fat and gained some muscle, which is always a good thing!
Kudos to you Dave and I cannot wait to return to the gym and fitness with everyone again (while adhering to COVID guidelines of coarse).

I had been participating in another CrossFit gym for about 2 years but wasn't getting the results that I was hoping for, getting the support that I felt that I really needed and finally decided it was time for change. Some athletes that I had been friendly with had tried CrossFit Windrose and were posting all of their results from their individual Journeys. All of which were positive. I decided it was time to check this place out. I started my journey with Crossfit Windrose about 9 weeks ago. I started with a consultation with David then started with the 6-week challenge to get a jump start. The strength that I had developed in my legs and in my knees and ankles has enabled me to do things I could not do before. David listened to what my challenges were and created a program based on what I needed to be successful according to the goals that we discussed. This is a place great to workout. I started out with a group of friends on a summer program which then lead us to a 6-week weight loss challenge. The coaching and support was really great and helpful. Our results after the challenge were impressive. My friends and I joined the gym on a permanent basis and are now part of a community which everyone loves and enjoys. I highly recommend visiting and seeing it for yourself.

I drop in to do Murph on Memorial Day it was a great Crossfit Gym. Meet one of the owners Dave very friendly they had a bunch of food for after the WOD, really nice layout for all the equipment, right off 295 no traffic to deal with, check this place out!

Where else can you workout, hang with friends and have fun?! CrossFit WindRose!! Super friendly, professional, clean, dog and kid friendly. I have tried many types of workout regimes at a variety of gyms. CrossFit WindRose is by far the best. Coach Dave has the best programming that can be scaled up or down.
Don’t believe me- try it for yourself!
