JG Fitness & Performance was born of my passion for helping others realize the positive impact that exercise and nutrition can have on one's life. Since 2003, I've made it my mission to improve physical performance and movement efficiency through a holistic approach to coaching that integrates exercise, strength and conditioning training, yoga, and nutrition counseling. Starting with a comprehensive evaluation, I create a health and fitness strategy customized specifically for you: your body, your needs, your program. I worked with Julia for about a year and a half. In that time, I was in the gym 2-3 times per week, and it was always something I looked forward to. Julia is an amazing coach, she listened to by needs and made sure to provide me with resources if she could not personally assist me with something. I became much stronger in the time that I worked with Julia, my muscles have become more pronounced, and my progression in weights was proof that all of the hard work paid off. If I could continue to work with Julia, I would stay indefinitely. She is an amazing, positive, and encouraging coach, and a very kind person. At 85 years old, Julia has helped me with exercises to increase my mobility and strength. She has also created very detailed and personalized exercises and videos for my weaknesses. She has enhanced my in-person sessions with an online booklet with videos so I can access these exercises while away in the winter. I Look forward to continuing when I return in the spring. As a lifelong athlete, I was looking for a coach to help me fine tune my movements and to learn the "right" way to perform certain exercises and connect better with my body, and I'm glad I was able to find Julia. I searched around for different options, but Julia had a great energy and a wholistic approach, teaching strength training but also stretching and yoga. The exercise plans are personalized based on how your body moves and what you need to improve on, and the group class atmospheres are great with a great atmosphere and fun energy. Julia knows her stuff and can break things down or give different cues to help you based on your journey. I would recommend to anyone looking to start a workout regimen or even if you are more experienced and want help fine tuning your program and getting some outside feedback.

I have been working out with Julia for several years now. I have done small group trainings as well as yoga. Julia really makes sure the focus is on you and checks in with before each class with “how’s your body feeling?” If there is something that is bothering you that day she makes sure to address that area with tips and exercises. Julia (JG Fitness & Performance) is the best! The studio is so nice, and it's a positive environment with a friendly & fun camaraderie among the clients in the small group classes, too. Even on days when you wake up tired/achey, by time you leave the studio, your energy levels are restored and you feel better than when you arrived.
Julia tailor's programs for each individual based on their personal goals, and adjusts exercises as needed, emailing helpful videos/instructions to reference for learning your routines and for practicing them at home. Julia is an attentive coach- great at responding to the needs of each client, answering questions, correcting posture, and making sure that everyone is in proper form. She also cheers you on in class, giving everyone positive reinforcement! I highly recommend Julia :-)

I’ve been going to Julia for a little over a year now, and it’s probably one of the best things I could’ve done for my body. In previous years I would sporadically go to the gym, but I needed consistency and someone to help hold me accountable. Julia does that and builds workout programs based off of what my body needs. Highly recommend Julia at JG Fitness & Performance. I had been searching for a coach who would work slowly and patiently with me on a very basic level, and Julia was the exact correct "fit". Beginning with a thorough evaluation of my range of motion and mobility, she also considered my health and goals for fitness and toning, when developing my program. Tailored to me, the program progressed me from basic workout to more complex exercises and increased challenges.This is exactly what I was looking for!
In the small group classes, she tweaks my form, makes changes to exercises as needed, and is responsive to questions and available for consultation when needed.
It's not like going to a gym, it's like going to a place where you are taking care of your body among others of like mind.
Julia is very encouraging to every client, and very engaged with all clients in the classes. The "memory joggers" she sends, as well as the links to demonstrations of exercises, are extremely helpful in continuing my program at home.

I was initially intimidated about seeing a personal trainer, but from the instant I met Julia - I felt comfortable. After a thorough intake process, Julia custom-built a training program to help me get stronger and tackle my fitness goals. I also knew that if I wanted to take this fitness journey seriously, I had to clean up my diet. And while I was nervous that I would have to constantly count calories, Julia made me see that it was possible to make small, achievable changes without restricting myself. Very impressed with how Julia was able to work with my daughter to get her ready for softball season. Julia’s strength and conditioning program for my daughter has helped increase her throwing and hitting velocities. I love the fact that Julia evaluated my daughter every workout session and made necessary adjustments to her workout routine to remedy any issues (i.e. hip misalignment). After two major orthopedic surgeries in less than a year I was not happy with how I was feeling and moving. I had completed physical therapy and was exercising on my own, but that wasn't enough. My experience with Coach Julia has been excellent. She has helped me create a strong foundation for working out that I have been unknowingly searching for years. While I have always had a decent workout routine and consider myself athletic, I didn’t necessarily have the best form or versatility when it came to my workouts. I am constantly challenged, encouraged, and pushed to do my best. Coach always checks in with me and makes adjustments if necessary. These adjustments are whenever you need them, during a stretch, an exercise, post workout, and more. She is committed to helping achieve whatever goal you are working towards whether it is weight loss, balance, core strength, etc while ensuring you take care of your body and don’t injure yourself!

I signed up for a month of nutrition coaching, and was impressed with how much Julia tailored her guidance to my own weight loss and health goals. I came in with a lot of questions and she answered them all, giving me researched information along the way. She has continued to hold Zoom classes for us from her home, demonstrating how much you can do in your own home with simple props. I love working with Julia! She is a super positive person and coach and full of contagious happy energy and lots of ideas. She works really closely with you to make sure you are hitting your goals and makes sure you are educated on the nutrition information she is recommending. Julia develops individualized programs for each one of her clients that take into account your short and long term goals as well as your body's limitations (maybe due to injury, etc.). Her gym/studio space is great, with every possible piece of equipment you could need, and she is also willing to Skype/video call with you if you can't make it in person to her workout program. I highly recommend working with her!
