An Absolutely Outstanding Class!
This was, without a doubt, one of the best classes I've attended in a long time! Donita is an incredible coach—the coolest and most talented I've ever had. She brought so much joy, love, and inspiration to our session. I highly recommend taking a class with her!

June 2025: Just took Maryann’s stretch class - great way to start the day!
A great addition to the Newport yoga community - I like the variety of class times, and the studio is very clean and has a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The instructors are great and friendly too!

Just had my bachelorette in Newport and we needed to change our itinerary due to the rain. I reached out to Rachael from Love defeats Fear to set up a private yoga session for me and my bridesmaids and she was so responsive and quickly set up the session in our Airbnb. Kristy was the instructor and she was so kind! My girls were at all different levels of yoga experience and Kristy's practice was perfect for us!

I’ve been going here for 3 years now. I chose it originally because it was close to my house and not hot yoga. I stayed because the teachers are all so nice, I like the variety each teacher brings, and that there are people of all ages and levels. They also have some unique things going on sometimes like retreats and reiki classes, or classes with live music. It’s just very wholesome here.

I'm new to yoga so I don't have much to compare with, but this is a fabulous place. The instructors are kind, generous and helpful and the space is great - clean, warm, and they have all the stuff - mats, blocks, bolsters, blankets, etc. Highly recommend, check it out!

I have had amazing experiences with my practice at Love Defeats Fear. All of the instructors are very helpful, calming and supportive. The space itself is beautiful and comforting. I have left every session feeling amazing both physically and mentally. It offers a different perspective and spiritual dimension that other studios in the area do not have. A very special environment that elevates my well being every time. Thank you Love Defeats Fear! You are the best yoga studio in Newport Ri!

I had a baby 20 months ago and have such anxiety about starting the workout process again. I went to Eames’s 11:00 class on Wednesday and I haven’t felt as much calm, peace and clarity in almost 2 years. The studio is insanely clean, tranquil and healing. Eames is an amazing teacher filled with love, insight and appreciation for his students and the art of yoga. I had the best workout in all areas… body, mind and soul. I’m looking forward to coming back on Friday. It was such a great experience. Thank you to Eames and their absolutely adorable studio!

Instructor is great. He’s spiritual without pushing any view.. aside from the belief that we must be gentle with ourselves which is advice I needed to hear. This class helps me find peace.

If you’re looking for dynamic, creative, and well rounded yoga classes, Love Defeats Fear is a fantastic choice. During a time when many yoga studios are offering classes that are hard for the sake of being hard with fast and hot classes, the skillful teachers at LDF are providing classes that can be scaled to meet your needs for the day, thoughtful sequences, and attentive teaching that incorporate multiple facets of the yoga discipline. As someone who is enjoys yoga and vinyasa and is not simply looking for a workout class, I’ve been very pleased with my experience visiting this studio.

I absolutely LOVE this studio! Everything about it is warm and welcoming. The teachers are awesome and have wonderful energy. They're super helpful if you have any issues. There's a good variety of classes so you can switch it up from power yoga to a slower vinyasa flow. A truly wonderful place to practice.

Love Defeats Fear is by far the most welcoming studio that I have found in the area. I struggle with confidence in the studio, and find that the teachers and fellow students are consistently supportive and friendly. The candle lit yin is an awakening class that helps ease me into my work week. I love being able to lean on a community to help in my healing process. If you are hesitant booking a class, don't wait. Being able to book online eases many of my anxieties. Upon arriving, you can take off your shoes and relax. The studio has mats, boulsters, and blocks for you to use at no extra cost. This is truly a stress-free and healing studio. The way yoga really should be.

A absolutely lovely place to practice yoga - welcoming, warm and safe — I wish every yoga studio experience could be this magical. I’ve only had the chance to enjoy classes with Eames and they are well instructed, and filled with mind, body and spirit awareness. I am sure all other classes will be similar in spirit and look forward to how they may be different.

Update:

I had the chance to attend three more classes and experience two additional instructors. What I love is how different each class and teacher are. I also love how each one offers a exploration of self with depth and also compassion for students to find their way through that, one asana at a time. Rachel offered an exquisite experience, creative flow with unique transitions and opportunities for anyone to explore an arm balance here or there. Marie’s class (hope I have the name
Right) is a core burner and lots of balancing postures.

What newbies to yoga should know:
1. it’s a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. If you are new to yoga, this studio seems welcoming of all levels! Highly Recommend!
2. The classes I experienced are taught at a largely intermediate or advanced level. So from asana (poses) to instruction and q’ng there’s a lot of assumed knowledge - that for a beginner may feel overwhelming — that shared GO HERE to learn. It’s SO SAFE — IT IS SO KIND — they’ll meet you where you are at and you can have comfort that you are being instructed with deep practices and soul!

Rachel (one of my long-time fav instructors) and her co-owner Eames have recruited an all-star group of teachers and created a fun, welcoming studio. Thankfully, not a hot yoga spot—love the ceiling fan and open windows!

The space and instructors are truly incredible and it feels like a big family. The wide variety of offerings from mellow to power vinyasa, meditation, yin, workshops, etc. always keeps it exciting and gives you the opportunity to explore new styles. We scheduled a small private class for a group of friends and had a wonderful experience. Rachael was very communicative and easy to work with setting up a class that fit perfectly with the fitness levels, ages, and experience of the participants. She put together a beautiful class that both challenged us and met us where we were at. The studio is beautiful, calm and relaxing and the overall experience could not have been better: we would definitely do it again.
