I would like to give 5 stars to Jeremy who is my personal trainer at Maxx. Hands down, he is the best trainer I have worked with. He takes time to retro fit the workouts for my needs and concerns. As an extra bonus to the personal training, I can attend group training as well led by Jeremy and this has been fabulous to workout with other women my age. I highly recommend the gym with personal training by Jeremy.

Some of these reviews make me laugh and it is sad when people can say the least furthest thing from the truth. I would like to set the record straight. I have been a member here for about 4 years now and this is the only gym I will ever work out at. The staff is so nice and the club is so clean. Since I have been a member Tyler has been the manager and is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Since I have been a member here he goes out of his way to talk to members and see how they are doing. Every experience I have had with him and the staff is amazing. They generally care about their members and try to get to know them on a personal level. If you want to feel comfortable and part of a community this is the gym you want to belong too.

The gym itself was great, however Iโve always had the worst customer service experience both in person and with their billing. I moved out of the state last year and when I tried to cancel, they told me there was nothing I could do over the phone, and that I had to come in person to sign a letter saying I would like to cancel. This was not possible for me at the time, so they continued charging me monthly including the outrageous late fees and service fees. Itโs completely ridiculous they want me to travel to a different state to cancel a gym membership.
Also, the Manager Tyler has always come off as extremely rude in every interaction Iโve ever had with him. Several other members Iโve spoken with have had similar experiences with him as well.

I apologize in advance for the long review.
I heard about this gym from a friend and decided I would sign up after hearing them talk highly of the place. This was my first time signing up for any kind of gym membership, so I was a little nervous. The staff was very friendly and explained the entire signup process to me, as well as the annual fee. They answered every question I had, and I never felt pressured to sign up for anything. I was undecided on my membership plan, so I explained what I was hoping to get out of my gym experience and they let me know I could start with one tier and change whenever I wanted. I got a high five after I signed up which made me laugh.
This has been the best decision I have made. The staff say hi and ask how you are doing, but they actually care about your answer. I've had good conversations with a few of them too. They went above and beyond and let me take a look at the ingredient list on the protein they used so I could see if there were any ingredients I was allergic to. The facility is very clean. In the times that I have gone (early morning or early evening), all the members are really good about wiping down the equipment. The locker room is clean, and I have been very lucky to come when there's at least one open shower! I was pleasantly surprised at how nice all the members are. There is a mix of people from all ages, but everyone is focused on their workout and celebrating the successes of others. Everyone is also very considerate of those around them. We all will shift to make room if someone needs to squeeze in to do stretches. I've seen members clean off their weights and give it to another member.
I have saved the best for last. If there is only one thing you do here... you HAVE to take the kickboxing class. CJ is the instructor and I promise you will come back every week. There's a huge emphasis on both physical and mental health. The group is welcoming and laid back. Do you want to be a part of a supportive group that cheers each other on while one is throwing combos? Come to this class. Do you want to hit pads? Come to this class. Do you want to learn how to throw some pretty sweet kicks? Come. To. This. Class. CJ makes sure to give everyone his undivided attention, and breaks out into one on one sessions. Have a sore shoulder? He'll modify the workout for you so you can still participate. If you have a specific exercise goal, he'll incorporate it into the class. They just added more classes so you have no excuse not to go. Mondays and Thursdays have become my favorite days of the week because they are kickboxing days. If I miss a class, I can always show up to the new times on Wednesday or Friday to catch up. The class shows up early to hangout and stays after CJ leaves to practice what we learned that day. Hands down the best part of the gym.

There are 2 bikes when you first walk in and these "2" bikes are always busy but the first bike has been down for (about 4 MONTHS) and several members have complained about it and nothing has been done.This is unacceptable!!! and annoying when you have to wait!!...just fix it! or buy a new one...and what's up with the TV screens on these machines?..half of them aren't working..why offer machines with screens if they don't work??..just fix it! that's all we ask..membership prices and drinks went up which is fine but you also need to keep up with the equipment..it works both ways...hopefully you make a maXX effort to solve this issue!

The Machines are filthy and most of the equipment is broken, maybe use the money your making from the increase in membership prices on fixing the place up, they say they are a luxury gym on their website but they are arguably a walmart great value version of planet fitness .

Best gym Iโve belonged to! It is always clean, all employees are always wearing a mask which makes going to the gym more comfortable during the pandemic. The tanning booths are also very clean. I havenโt had a bad interaction here. The staff is always helpful and friendly; they welcome me when I walk in and engage in conversation to make me feel welcome! I had an issue with payment/my card and the manager, Tyler, was extremely professional and helpful with solving the issue. Besides this small issue I have never had any other problem and it was solved quickly and easily so no real issue at all. I recommend all my friends, co workers, and everyone to join this Maxx location.

waited for a year to avoid the buy out fee for my 1 year contract. called 30 days ahead to find out when to come in and cancel. I paid these people during the whole covid shut down didnt freeze on them or anything. I go there only to be forced into buying another month after my year is up.
I called yesterday and was told im all set just sign a paper. the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. I work in a gym and do the same thing everyday its a wonder how you even stay open. the kicker absolutely no one was wearing a mask or even signing a medical questionnaire. Tyler the manager was the biggest tool I've had to speak to in years. worked for the company for 1 year from the other location in Lincoln. I hope he finds a job outside the service/gym industry he does not belong working with people.
aside from it being a planet fitness with a movie theater its filled with a ton of gym bros and gym bunnys taking selfies everywhere. I should have never signed a year contract at this gym.
the functional training room is always hotter than the rest of the gym and it smells.
and who forgets to out ice in your protein shake? these guys... bravo... when i went to get an actual cold one I was able to pay full price for their mess up.. couldn't tell you who because the turn around rate is ridiculous. I hope that Miranda leaves that place she the only one the smiles and greets you and does her job. she deserves better.

I have been a member of this gym since the day it opened. I have seen, first-hand, the incredibly high turnover of staff since the gym opened its doors in 2017. Rarely do you see staff cleaning equipment, even among trainers that are done using machines with clients, and there are evidently not enough "clean your machine" signs around because many of the customers don't clean the machines when they're done either.
Additionally, staff have left spills on the floor for periods of time without attending to it or putting up caution signs to warn customers of spills (this has happened on more than one occasion). There are times when the paper towel dispensers have been left empty and their apparent solution is just to place a roll by the dispenser rather than put the new roll IN the dispenser. They also don't seem to keep track of the need to refill toilet paper in the restrooms as often as they ought to.
Furthermore, their ability to offer diverse classes is minimal. This particular location has been open since 2017 and they have yet to offer the full range of classes that the other Maxx Fitness locations offer. They keep telling customers that classes will be expanded soon, but that has yet to change.
UPDATE (10/2019): In the last several months, this gym has gone through *several* kids club employees (and staff in general); and the scariest part is this: they've left my baby unstrapped in her carseat attachment on her stroller, asleep, UNATTENDED, to use the restroom or whatever they were doing that day, they've had staff physically leave the childcare room (unsupervised) to go talk to other staff at the front desk instead of picking up the phone within the childcare room, and half of their childcare staff don't seem to have much in the way of experience (if any at all), which is unsettling when you've got such young children in their care. The ONLY reason I still go is because of the childcare staff member, Ms. Sandy, who is responsible and a true gem. They ought to give that woman a raise or two and try VERY hard to keep her there as long as possible because she is great with the kids and all the parents love her. She's been an employee there since its opening day and our family is glad to have her there.

Moved to this gym from the Bristol gym. Best, healthiest decision I have made in years! Love the big open space, new equipment. Never have to wait for a treadmill or elliptical. Free-weight area never crowded. Classes never crowded. Am using machines I did not use before because the space makes it easy. Perfect temps: Cool in summer (TG!!), comfy in winter. I watched a movie in CineMaxx on the treadmill - it was great! I look at the negative reviews on Maxx and laugh - they read like they were planted by people from other gyms that don't like losing business. The days of charging whatever you want with a "take it or leave it" attitude are over. Maxx is a great gym! Friendly, professional staff. No-nonsense trainers. Every gym charges an annual fee in some form or other. I have saved hundreds of dollars with Maxx. I walk in happy and leave feeling great. Thank you MaxxFitness!!

Maxx Fitness, what in the world is wrong with those people?
I knew I had to cancel before the first of the month. My life was in complete turmoil due to my grandfather's sudden passing (who we currently live with) and other huge life changes, but I managed to drag my teary-eyed wreck of my former self into their facility because they told me that I could not cancel over the phone. I recently paid a huge sum of money for yearly maintenance fees and was then told there would be a $50 cancelation fee (which turned out to be $58). I told them to go ahead and charge me as I was a disaster and we are moving to our new home in a few months anyway.
Just checked my bank account and was charged again for this month's memberships! When I called to let them know that I had canceled and paid the $58 per membership fee, they said that it is expected that you have to pay the next month after?!?! What? Why?
Then the man I spoke to said if I had brought it proof that I was moving, he might have been able to wave the cancellation fee, but now it was too late.
In total, I have spent over $350 for nothing at Max Fitness for two months.
That place is horribly run and possibly has the worst customer service that I have ever encountered.

New equipment, new gym, lowest price in town. There's plenty of space here, convenient location. They have treadmills, bikes, rowers, a few ellipticals, free weights, a large variety of machines, a dedicated "olympic" weight room, and a couple of group class rooms. In order to do the group classes, you need the upgraded membership. They also have tanning, and a "cardio movie theater". It's a dark room that runs a different movie each day so you can get your mind off of exercising while you run. Pretty cool idea.
The best part is the price. I had a signup fee of $69 (requires one year commitment), plus the monthly fee of $10/mo, and an annual "maintenance" fee of $39 after the first year. So despite the various fees, it still comes out to be very cheap. Love it!
