Olympia Fitness has played a crucial role in not only the development of my physical and technical abilities as an athlete, but they have had a heavy hand in shaping me into the young adult I have become today. Stepping into the collegiate sports world I was very prepared for the movements, and what was expected of me as an athlete because of what I was taught and learned at Olympia Fitness. I started going to Olympia to improve my strength and feel stronger after being on limited exercise for a year or so. The group classes are wondeful for having a lot of variety in exercises and instructors. The group classes kept me motivated to be active through pregnancy which I truly think helped make it an easy 9 months. After my son was born, I wanted more focused exercises to recover from his birth and Olympia set up a semi-private training plan that is perfect for where I am. Each instructor is so friendly, they focus on making sure your form is right and that the exercises work for you. I cannot say enough nice things about this gym! They have been exactly what I have needed these past 2 years.

We joined Olympia Fitness and Performance in November 2024, looking for a strength and speed program for our middle school runner. Our son runs year round between cross country and indoor/outdoor track seasons with both his middle school and club teams. He’s always been a terrific runner, but after just a few months with the team at Olympia, he’s managed PRs each week at meets. He’s consistently shaving time off of already great times in his 3000m and 1500m. Not only is he seeing gains on the track, his confidence has increased. We can see it in his races and just the way he carries himself in general.

The staff at Olympia have been amazing with adjusting his training program ahead of competitions and scheduling his sessions to align with their class schedules so I can sneak in a workout, too! With two active kids and a puppy at home, I hardly have time for myself. The classes give me a twice a week break to focus on me. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The classes are challenging, but the soreness is always so rewarding!

The added unspoken bonus of it all is the time Z and I get together going to and from training and that we can both see how hard the other is working. I love that we get this extra quality time while being able to also work on our own fitness.

The gym is always super clean and the whole community is so friendly and supportive. We run into other athletes and families all the time which just confirms that we made the right choice. We love Olympia!

My son Joseph has been going to Olympia Fitness and Performance for years. He started off as probably one of the youngest athletes to go and learn the fundamentals and benefits of training for the sport he loves which is wrestling. The Olympia staff over the years have done a tremendous job building him to the athlete he is today, as he gets ready for high school. My son loves the staff and considers it like a family. He has won national and state championships in the sport of wrestling and would tell you with certainty that Olympia has had a huge role in helping him be so successful!!

I joined Olympia after a startling experience with sciatica at a relatively young age. I'd fallen behind on my fitness and was generally unhappy and knew it was time to do something. I came in for a consult with Mike and it had me hooked. He patiently listened to all of my concerns, didn't discount anything I was saying, and overall just got good vibes from Olympia! I got set up with semi-private training in February and my gains are already being noticed. I feel more in shape and I've learned I can do things I never thought possible. The coaches are all amazing, and I can't say enough good things about this place! I recommend 10 out of a 10 every single day of the week!

I chose Olympia for training because the company trainers were TPI certified. My goals for training were to improve stability and mobility in my golf swing while building core strength.
I have stayed with Olympia because I feel as if I have been working out most of my life and after age 50, the workouts were not helping me very much. They felt like a waste of time. When I went to Olympia, their knowledge of the body mechanics for each exercise made all the difference. The trainers had me adjust exercises in particular ways, slightly differently than I had previously completed them. They could see how slight adjustments in movements could yield tremendous results. For example, the slight change of movement alleviated sacroiliac pain.
Actively training with Olympia has allowed me to play golf 4-5 times a week, pain free, and to hit balls in between those times!
I have been training all my life without knowing what I was doing, even though I have worked with many trainers. I would advise others to try Olympia. They have helped me in golf and overall core strength. With the golf season ending, the trainers are shifting more to muscle building over mobility. I continue to appreciate the thoroughness of knowledge the trainers have. They have helped me as no other trainers have. I wish I had found Olympia sooner. I’ve been coming to Olympia for the past few months. When I started originally, I was fully invested into taking the firefighting route for my next career. I followed their preparation program/plan for others looking to get into the field. Almost immediately I saw so much change in myself. I have never been one to love going to the gym or working out, but I found myself looking forward to stepping into the gym every afternoon.
After a few months and starting EMT classes, I realized firefighting wasnt it for me. Out of everything I went through from my experiences in this “side quest”, I knew I didnt want to lose my connection with Olympia. Not only do I see so much improvement in myself physically and mentally after spending so much time here, but I have built amazing relationships and connections. The trainers, and other professionals at Olympia are a hardworking and supportive group who I love working with. They’re attentive, helpful, and all passionate about helping the community that comes into the gym. Every trainer has given me pointers and tips in one way or another. i Came in reluctant day one. Mike is hands down the best I've ever trained with. His workouts are SUPER efficient: so much gets done in each workout! Some trainers I have used in the past seemed like salesmen, and set me up with exercises that were either ineffective or actually caused injury. Mike is the complete opposite. Not only does he customize workouts to meet individual goals, he is amazingly knowledgeable about the human body and can work with any kind of limitation, injury, condition, etc. He's also got the highest level of training and certification in his field (CSCS) - very few trainers are so well educated. I’ve belonged to a couple of gyms in my life and never one quite like this. Olympia Fitness/Performance goes at the speed and performance you/your body can handle. They pay attention to your needs! I highly recommend any one of the trainers (Katie, Mike, Pat (coined: Brad Pitt) Brandon and Steve. Although the workout(s) are the same, each trainer brings their knowledge as how not to hurt yourself and their personality to help you get through the workout in their own way…making it a sweaty and safe hour. The facility is very clean and open. The staff are friendly without any attitude. All levels of athletic ability train there and me, well, I’m starting over at 60 yrs old. One of the BEST gyms and staff out there! I was referred to Olympia by a friend who had raved about their knowledge and ability to help individuals pass the PPA (firefighter agility test). In a short time working with the trainers/coaches, I was able to reach my goals in passing the PPA, and learned crucial cues and techniques for my fitness journey moving forward. Olympia Fitness and Performance is by far the best facility around. From the ownership, to management, the facility and equipment, and the trainers who are the nicest, most professional, and MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE in the state.

Two months ago I was looking for a gym that could help my 10 year old daughter that plays club soccer train over the summer and help her take her training to the next level. A friend told me about Olympia and the minute I stepped in the door I knew it was the right place. My daughter trains twice a week and cannot wait for her sessions. She has grown so much in a short period of time, we’ve loved seeing her confidence grow and the trust she has in the trainers who have been so
supportive and encouraging. After two weeks of watching my daughter train and seeing how incredible the trainers were I decided to sign up for the 6 week challenge myself. As someone that spent the last 16+ years in many of the fitness facilities and gyms in RI it was clear Olympia was something different and really special. From the classes to the nutrition guidance and the support from the owner and all of the trainers there is no fitness facility that compares with the quality you get when you join this community.

The workouts are incredibly fun and can be scaled/tailored to each persons fitness level. The members are inspiring, the personal trainers are consistently giving hands on feedback and adjustments for each person during the workouts and constantly encouraging us. The members and the atmosphere are amazing, always clean, and incredibly welcoming. The workouts in the classes are always different and you will see results without question. It’s a life changing gym experience filled with passionate people that make up a community that wants to see each other succeed.

I am very impressed with every aspect of Olympia Fitness and Performance. I hobbled into Ross’s office in February 2021 with so much back and leg pain that just getting through a shift at work was agony. I had been dealing with this for over 3 years and was desperate to get some pain relief and get back to doing things I love.

Ross was the third Physical Therapist I had been to and the only one who actually helped me. Every treatment with him was individualized to how was feeling that day. He listened, gave me effective exercises to do….and made sure I did them properly, which is not something you get at most PT places. He got me moving again and I am thrilled about that. I remember the first time he brought me into the gym and my heart sank. I thought, I am so unfit right now I do not belong in here with all these athletes and first responders etc. I honestly couldn’t even look in a mirror at that point. But, after a few times I felt better and more comfortable about it and actually looked forward to that part of the treatment.

With his recommendation I moved on to the semi private personal training. I have been doing that since July and I have nothing but great things to say about that! Everyone I have trained with has been supportive, encouraging, super friendly, fun, attentive and inspiring. Even on days when I had to drag myself to the gym I always leave feeling 1000% better in my body and mind than when I walked in. I was so afraid to injure myself or cause more pain when I started but now finishing my 3rd program I feel great and have more confidence in working out. So give your awesome staff a big shout out for a job well done.

After dealing with several injuries, I wasn't sure what my workouts would look like again. Not only was I dealing with physical pain, but the mental component of not being able to workout at the level I was used to, was very difficult. I did physical therapy, and was finally at a place where I wasn't in constant pain and was cleared to workout again. I didn't know how to get myself back in shape in a way that was safe and effective, so I began to search different gyms. While pretty much every gym offered personal training, I was looking for something specific to my needs where I would be coached by high-level professionals in a safe environment. I stumbled across Olympia online and booked a consultation.

My consultation included a meeting of myself, a personal trainer (CSCS) and a physical therapist. We discussed my injuries at length and they also evaluated me physically. From there I worked with my amazing coach, Maura, twice a week on a customized program that was designed by both her and the PT, Amanda. Maura was incredibly attentive and made modifications when necessary. She was so tuned into my form, that just having Maura tweak a single movement had a significant impact on my workout and overall progress.

I feel incredible, I'm pain free, and I'm able to increase the intensity of my workouts and not limit myself. I am so grateful to the amazing staff at Olympia, and even the other members. The word ‘functional’ in training is overused by gyms; many preaching the usefulness of kipping handstands. What a joke. Never once needed to kip anything. Functional training at Olympia is what the words were intended to mean. “Post Rehab Program” is a Wonderful new program to get your life back after an injury. The best thing I have ever done for myself is join this gym 3 years ago. I recently had an injury that stopped my regular class training with Maura Zimmer. I needed help coming back without causing further injury and Maura asked if I would like to try the new Post Rehab Program with personalized sessions twice a week. We started slowly, she constantly evaluated and tailored the workouts as my mobility and strength increased and after one month I am feeling great and back in class. About 15 months ago I was diagnosed with one torn disc and two bulging discs. The pain was intense enough that I was unable to play golf. In fact, I could not stand, sit, or lie down for an extended period of time. I felt awful. I did some physical therapy and went to a chiropractor but neither gave me lasting relief. My golf professional, Matt Walsh, suggested I go to see Steve Zarriello at Olympia Fitness.

Steve explained to me that back pain is very often associated with weak core muscles. He knows because he has personally dealt with disc troubles himself. I spent most of the last 20 years working behind a desk and did not exercise much at all, so it made sense that my core was weak. I learned that it wasn't a matter of just doing sit-ups: the core is more extensive than abs. As a certified Titleist Performance Institute trainer, Steve designed a program for me to get me out of pain with the eventual goal of getting me back on the golf course.

The program is rigorous and difficult and takes a real commitment. I go three times per week There were some setbacks along the way-- a couple of minor muscle pulls and strains--but Steve made adjustments to the routine as necessary. Every four weeks there is a new routine targeting areas that Steve feels I need to work on. He uses a combination of periodic assessments and feedback from me to find the right mix of exercises.

I can't emphasize enough that it takes time and commitment to fix back pain, but the investment is worth it! After two and one half years of pain and discomfort, I just spent the last month virtually pain free! I started playing golf again and can play 18 holes now without pain. Plus, I'm hitting the ball further with less effort. My goal is to play in a three day tournament in September, and I'm confident that I will participate.

When I started, I was a train wreck. Slowly but surely I am putting the train back on the track. I'm grateful to Steve and his staff for their patience and professionalism, and I'm looking forward to continuing my training.

If you're suffering from back pain, whether you are a golfer or not, I recommend that you visit Olympia and get started.

I have now been training at Olympia Fitness and Performance for over 3 years. Prior to joining Olympia Fitness and Performance I believed I was knowledgeable on conditioning and weight training. My weekly training goals were to maintain my muscle mass while performing cardio drills to maintain my stamina. As I was approaching a seasoned age of 60, injuries became a common occurrence causing me to spend months at a time away from what I love to do.

The team at Olympia Fitness and Performance has introduced me to a new way of training were I am now focused on being Functionally Fit. Olympia Fitness and Performance has made a huge positive impact in my life and athletic abilities. When I started with them, I was succeeding in my sport but by compensating for weakness due to an injury. I was a few months out from having surgery, and had lost a lot of strength. Through personal training with Steve before surgery, I gained strength and stability that set me up to be as prepared as possible for recovery.

After surgery, training with Steve was unquestionably a huge key in my recovery. When I came back to the gym, I could hardly walk normally, let alone feel like I was "working out." Steve was understanding of my weaknesses, and is excellent at working through injury or rehab with consideration of limitations, yet creating significant results and improvement. My doctors and therapists at HSS continue to be complimentary of how strong I've recovered, and it's in large part thanks to training at Olympia. This will honestly be one of the best workouts you will ever have. Each time you come in, there are new exercises and activities for you to do. The workouts are always different and I always feel accomplished when I finish. Steve, the owner has also helped me trained for my first half marathon in 2015 and I am currently training for my second. I did suffer a minor knee and hip injury after my first race, but Steve provided me with the tools to help make a speedy recovery. He continues to provide me with helpful tips and workout plans that help me reach my goals. This gym is definitely different than most gyms I have belonged to in the past. This place is great. It is for beginners and advanced alike. And it isn't an intimidating place to work out in. The classes are fun to be in, the people friendly and outgoing. You will feel welcome here. Always greeted with a hello and a smile. You will see improvement in your stamina and strength. Steve, Mike and Maura all know what they are doing. They give you what they know you can handle but that will challenge you. They will show you correct form so you don't hurt yourself. I have belonged to this Gym twice and have learned my lesson that i will not be leaving any time so. The training programs that are run daily meet the needs of there clients. The daily workouts challenge you, keeping your body guessing whats coming next while allowing you a fresh set of exercises to keep you into working out. It only took me one session to fall in love with The Way. I have never in my life been in better shape or felt better about myself. The Way offers group training so I arranged a class every Tuesday for myself and all my girlfriends. The trainers always were able to switch something up for each person... if you were advanced, a little bit harder and if you were a beginner like myself, they would modify to make sure I could keep up. I also took morning classes. Every class different, focusing on different core workouts. The only reason I am not still working out at The Way is because I moved to Florida in September. I am a Firefighter, was injured and need micro-dissections on L4-L5 and L5-S1. I was afraid to injure my back again and gained weight and become "de-conditioned" as I nursed my injury. The small group workouts are dynamic and challenging, yet the trainers accommodate people of all ages and abilities. I even got both my parents to come check it out and now they workout here a few times a week! Workouts are not only focused on strength and cardio, but also balance and mobility. The Way HPI has provided a great experience for me. Its a gym with small classes, committed trainers and a great program. The trainers know each participant by name, exercise routines are varied each class and in my experience, everybody there has been welcoming and encouraging. I know the gym works with elite athletes and also with local firemen and policemen who must maintain a level of physical fitness. However, a soft 60 year old with an artificial hip is not out of place (how do you think I know). Steve and Mike are very attentive and help everyone maintain proper form, or modify exercises where necessary. I started coming here about a month and a half ago and I'm completely blown away by their workouts. I had previously been going to a different training gym for the past 3 years and thought I was in good shape until I started coming here. Man was I wrong. The trainers here really push you to give every workout your all and do things you never thought you could do. The Way Human Performance Institute is a fantastic, never done anything like it before kind of work out. It's literally a different work out every time you go. I do the group Life sessions.
