Wow, this place really went downhill from when I was a member about a year ago.

I recently signed up again and the guy at the front desk walked over to me while I was on the treadmill and told me to stop what I was doing because my monthly fee was declined and I owe them money in front of a bunch of other people around me working out. He walked me up to the front desk like I was a criminal or I just stole something in the middle of my workout.

It turns out the payment method was fine and it was THEIR fault for not charging the card. They charged me when I was standing there and it went through fine with no problem.

Its sad because this place used to be really good with staff members that were respectful. I dont know what happened, but it's terrible now.

After multiple complaints about a safety problem, the manager banned my wife and I, along with our friends who had pointed out the problems. Going to take my business to the Lincoln PF which has friendly management and employees.

Hey, I have been a member of Planet Fitness since February 2020 and I have never been treated the way I was just treated at the Cumberland planet fitness. I recently relocated from Queen Creek, Arizona to Rhode Island and I came into work out at planet fitness and I was unable to work out due to an issue with my account. The staff was extremely rude. No Manager became available to help me. Nobody was willing to help me be able to get my workout in for the day and I also brought a friend so not only did they leave a really really bad taste in my mouth but they left it. A really bad taste in my friends mouth also also.

I called the gym on 5/3 for freeze my membership before my departure for a long trip overseas. Actually I did it for two months in 2023 without any issue. But this time the staff said they could not do without a doctor's note or military's note. When I returned, the staff told me that I am allowed to freeze my membership. I joined the gym since 2021. And I am very unhappy to be treated like this. That is the reason I cancelled my membership and left the gym.

I was going to give 2 stars, but changed it to one because I really can't think of anything nice to say. First, it's definitely small in here. Second, two minutes on the treadmill and the faceplate popped right off!! Nice!! Third, I can see why it popped off because these look like they are from the eighties. The room with the free weights has no mirrors. Just cardboard pieces hung up. Creepy. The incline benches all had sweat spots on them. Disgusting!! I could go on, but now I need to drive to the nicer location, Attleboro. I will never come back here. True dump.

Was coming here consistently a year ago and I enjoyed it.
Rejoined this week it’s been two days and it’s obvious management changed.
Staff canceled my payment because she was unsure what she was doing. I was told I’d be refunded in 24hrs it’s been 48hrs and still nothing.
Someone complained about me taking pictures in the bathroom of MYSELF as she walked by ME.
The vibes are not the same in that place anymore. Would not recommend this location.

One of the great places for exercise/stretching. You can do cardio and weight all in the same place.
The environment is very good and machines are mostly available. They have mazorly all machine which a fitness point requires.
Sometimes you may need to wait for a bench as they only have 4 to 5 sets of benches.
Plenty of parking space is available. I really have a very good experience here.

The always revolving staff is very attentive and friendly. The cardio machines are well maintained. The dumbbells are inadequate, with the weights going up to only 60 pounds, forcing me to do certain exercises at home. There is no decline bench anywhere in the joint. My biggest issue however is with their so called lifetime membership of less than a Benjamin per year, which was just reneged on and raised by a whopping 233%. That's a bit much. Why would anyone in their right mind want to prepay for the whole year anymore when they can pay monthly for less than half that?

Be careful when you sign up. These places are all sorts of cagey with hidden buy out fees and they also have this rule where you have to visit them in person to cancel a membership. They claim people were cancelling others' memberships, but this is preferable and is a management problem not a member problem.

The manager who dealt with me personally was great. The company she works for has gone straight down hill since covid. I used to love planet fitness. Now i think they all suck.

Plenty of good things to say about this place - pretty clean, all sorts of people, decent amount of equipment, good value for what you get...

...but they habitually don't open on time. That's a huge problem for me. I know emergencies happen, but it's at least 3-5 times a month, every month. I'm sure they don't pay enough to hire/retain someone willing to reliably show up at 4:45am to open at 5.

During this past year all businesses have struggled. Fitness facilities were especially hit hard. Cumberland PF abided by all RI State rules. I was one that needed to maintain my workout schedule. The staff were amazing in their cleaning regimen, machines were closed to maintain distances. I felt safe. As the rules have changed in relationship to Covid protocol more machines have been opened again. The club has invested in plexiglass barriers to isolate workout areas. I would encourage all members to return to their pre-Covid workouts at PF. Anyone looking for a clean facility with a staff that is friendly and committed to maintaining a safe environment, should check out the Cumberland Planet Fitness.

It's exactly what you expect at a P.F for a first time member. I'm not going to complain that the free weights aren't really free and they do not go past 60# dumbbells... that's to be expected. However I never heard of a lunk alarm... also fine I guess. But why the 3 stars?? If there is going to be a lunk alarm there needs to be one for people who ego lift, or don't know how ro lift a all. A punk alarm for those who add all the weight but only go down 2 inches, and a junk alarm for those who have no clue what's going on.

Love Planet Fitness. I remember pre covid how many more people used the gym and I hope they didn't get sick and pass away God Bless Everyone who did loose someone who was important in their lives. I just want to say that I'm back and I am very excited about this opportunity to work out mask free. I was truly frustrated with the entire process and I almost bought a home gym. I am 42 years old now and I have dedicated my life to raising our 15yr old son and I have Been blessed with the rare opportunity to get to really stay home for our child. This was a great sacrifice for our family as two incomes are literally just necessary in our Country and I get sad when I think about all of the mothers who work 3 jobs and they are truly working to provide daycare for their children. That's just really not okay. Working 3 job's never ever getting about water and for what? To pay a daycare to raise your children. I would have been an archeologist had I not stayed at home. It all passes by in a flash. Please Everyone come back here and work out. It's so clean and we are all helping keep it up. You shouldn't give up something that you enjoy. Health is Wealth. Room for so many more friends! I really don't want these gyms to go under. Can we all go put the smart Pelton in our homes. I don't think so. Out of all the Planet Fitnesses that are near me, Cumberland planet fitness is one of my favorites. One of the things that I like the most is that the gym is always clean, also when the gym is crowded for some reason it does not feel that way, and the machines are available for the most part. I love seeing the familiar faces when I work out - I've enjoyed getting to know Paul (morning staff) in particular over the years. He's familiar with the gym and the company in general and knows so many of the customers that he's been able to introduce me to people I've now come to call my friends. ONE OF THE FEW BARGAINS AROUND! Signing up was fast and easy, with the PF app being especially useful in signing in, gauging how crowded it is at particular times as well as how to properly use each piece of equipment. Every employee I have come in contact with has been very friendly and helpful; really welcoming. The club is extremely clean both on the gym floor and in the locker and bath rooms. Especially important, In this time of Covid, every piece of equipment is properly distanced from each other and at least one or two people are constantly cleaning. Additionally, I have yet to find one piece of equipment that is not in working order, unlike my experience at other gyms. Having ten or more TV's positioned in front of the cardio equipment, where you hop on and plug your headphones in, is a much better solution to having them built in to the fitness equipment. ALL THIS FOR $10 A MONTH!

I love their new renovations with additional workout space, stretching and abdominal area, 30 minute workout section and new multi-station piece. My favorite is the new Spa area for BLACK CARD members offering the newest HYDO LOUNGE, HYDROMASSAGE BED, MASSAGE CHAIRS, TANNING and a machine that tones you and takes care of the fine lines!
The staff Rocks, always a welcoming smile and very personable. They work hard, keeping the club always clean and organized. I appreciate their dedication and look forward to each and every visit.
