I joined about 6 weeks ago and finally had a chance to workout. I noticed my statement had a $35 dollar charge when I signed for $15/ month. They said there was a late fee because my card declined. They used the same card to steal my money. I am joining Anytime gym nearby instead of the hassles. Many others complain about this place which explains the horrible ratings. From what I experienced they couldn’t care less if you cancel.
PART 2). Update… I went to the gym in person to cancel but yet I’m being harassed for $35 they claim I owe. Again they say $20 is a late fee but used my card to steal money.
I joined Anytime gym in BJ’s lot. No illegally taking money from customers. It’s quiet, clean, rarely busy, and open 24/7, secure entry and lot. I paid $495 for 6 months .

Is it too much to ask for a floor dryer/fan for air circulation so when someone goes into the locker room and leaves a toxic dump it doesn't make it unpleasant for others? This is now the third time I've brought this up without response, next time it's to corporate and E Providence DOH.

I have been a member of Planet Fitness for a number of years now. I enjoy the gym vibe and the flexibility the schedule offers. I have worked out much of my life, but at my advanced age I really appreciate Alison, the personal trainer. I reinjured my shoulder working out on my own and signed up for supervised classes. The first trainer was great, but left for another job. The second trainer started out fine but was inconsistent in his attendance. Having worked with Alison for the past year plus, I can't recommend her enough. She makes the classes fun and I have seen remarkable progress. I know that PF has moved on from personal trainers, but I'm glad Alison remained.
As an addendum, the superhero drawings in the front are great, as I'm a huge comic book collector and fan.

I go to the gym everyday, in the past few weeks since David is gone things aren’t as good. The employees need to get out from behind the desk. When the machines are not working it takes so long to get fixed. On two of the bikes, I can’t connect my head phones, it’s been broken for 2 months now. I’m not as pleased as I use to be.

I love planet fitness and this location has a hybrid tanning/redlight therapy bed. I just don’t give out 5 stars much for anything. I’d love higher weights for dumbbells as they Cap out at 75lbs but that’s the most I’ve seen at PF

I used to come here until today.
I had to answer an emergency work call during my workout. Was my first call in almost 2 years at the gym. David didnt wait for me to end the call. he just walk by saying to use the phone at the entry area. I didnt know that and i agree. but he could just wait to end the call to tell me that was wrong. he could just tell me, not the all costumers needed to know. so i spoke with him about him and i didnt like the way he did the things....his answer back....i dont like also the way you are talking to me...i had to say back im not loosing any respect with you, im telling you how i feel as a costumer... he didnt care, so i quit this gym and told him dont worry i wont be a problem to you soon. once again his answer: thats great. as a manager he should have better position. also a great gym but alot of them around the area

Very clean and overall excellent location! Despite being further from me than some other PFs, I always choose this location because its the most consistency clean and never too packed. The manager David run a great operation and is often at the desk or cleaning the facility himself. I've only had positive interactions with the rest of the pleasant staff and the parking is easy too. Shout out to the whole team; I wish all PFs were like this!

I would like to commend “David”, The Manager at the East Providence location! He took it upon himself to make sure that the locker room/showers were all clean. I love this gym and I'm a live streamer on TikTok so I stream my workouts but I'm very sad and disappointed in people because they email the manager saying that I'm loud and they don't feel comfortable with me streaming and it is not against the rules to stream your workouts so I don't know if I'm gonna stay I've been with them for a year and im such a nice guy all i do is help people with their health and diet when they ask for advice at the gym and i was 216lb and now im 135lb and it took me ten months of hard work and discipline to be where im at so with that being said thank you so much i love you guys but i will have to leave if im gonna be bothered every week thank you and God bless

The spinning bikes have broken seats and I didn’t use it the other bikes because they are not for intense training.
The spinning bikes are not working, they said they bought the repair and it still hasn't been fixed! I'm a cyclist and the other bikes are not for my exercise

I had a membership here for about 9 months. The one thing I wish were different is that they had more space in the dumbbell area; that is always a high demand area, and I would often have to change the workout I wanted due to lack of access or time. But overall this is a great place, even if sometimes crowded. The TRX and kettlebell area was where I usually went if dumbbells were crowded, and it and the core area are great.

William, Michael, the woman who trains people (forget her name…) and the whole staff are excellent. Friendly vibe in here. They just got a whole bunch of new equipment which is appreciated.

I wish they had red light therapy (they have it but you have to get a tan at the same time, wish they had red light on its own). I believe the other location on Newport Ave has this…

Only complaint is that some of the equipment wobbles… (or maybe I’m just so jacked that I’m moving the whole multi-exercise machine 😜)

I love going to planet fitness. The place is clean, workers are nice and it's a safe environment. The trainer is absolutely amazing (Allison) and I have improved my strength and balance since attending her classes. The only thing this planet needs are more medicine balls and kettlebells. This is a very large and well-lit Planet Fitness. I went to three different Rhode Island Planet Fitness’s over five years and cancelled my PF membership in December’23. There are a few reasons I left. First, you are bombarded with news stations and commercials when you’re on ellipticals and treadmills at all Planet Fitnesses which isn’t good for mental health. Second, working out got pretty boring without anyone coaching, offering training, or interacting at all. Third, I decided my fitness was worth a bigger investment and joined CrossFit.

Signed up my 16 y/o son with a one year prepaid contract. My son, presently uses his school gym and therefore no longer needed the membership. I attempted to cancel and was told I cannot- as my son is the member and it is a prepaid one year contract. I explained I paid the membership and if the membership cannot be cancelled make me the primary member. I was told that cannot be done either, because of the contract with my son. Again, my son was 16 when we joined, he cannot sign contracts and I paid for the membership. So- as it stands PF has $340 and no one will be using the gym. Simply switching the membership to the person(me) that paid for the membership seems reasonable.

I joined planet Fitness right after Covid protocols were easing up. This location was very attentive to hygiene of the workout machines and areas. The staff was friendly enough but not as much as the sales person/manager LOL. I gave 3 stars because I experienced problems trying to put a card on file for monthly payments. I'm now realizing how difficult it is to cancel membership.

Great staff - place is clean - affordable price. But every time I go in there, even when it's slow, all the weight lifting machines are taken. Also, half the time the free weights I need are taken. There are a million cardio machines taking up the bulk of the floor, most never being used, but only 4 weight lifting machines, 1 rack with easy bar and straight bar weights, and only 2 sets for each dumbell weight. The lower dumbell weights under 25 pounds seem to be used the most. So there should be more than 2 sets for each weight. Great gym but it needs less cardio equipment to make room for more weightlifting equipment.

I’ve been going here for almost a year. It’s clean fairly new. I wish you would expand the free weights section. It’s small compared to the amount of people wanting to use them. I don’t know what’s happened, but it seems like more and more kids in large groups of like 6 come in and they stand around the equipment playing on their phones and horse play with each other while other people want to use the equipment. It’s super frustrating. Just the other day, I went to change in the mens room and there was a group of them all just sitting there taking up the entire bench just chatting and playing on their phones and meanwhile no one can get in to change. It’s not a hangout room. Change and get out. Use the equipment and move on.

Great central location near the highway. Always plenty of parking. They have everything you need from free weights to machines to treadmills. The facility is always kept very clean including the bathrooms. I do wish it was open later on weekends as it closes at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. I would recommend getting the Black Card membership as you can go to any Planet Fitness location and can always bring a guest for no extra charge.

Not far from being the best gym in town!! The place was clean and was well maintained. Unfortunately I did not had a great experience with one of the workers. He was very disrespectful when I tried making a membership!! I didn't cared as much at first because he could have had a bad day, but he wasn't disrespectful just 1 or 2 times but 4 in different occasions. It looked like he didn't wanted to be there.

Could be decent equipment, but hard to keep clean when paper dispensers are either not in good working condition or are empty. Dumbbells lying everywhere, no expectation that members rack weights after use. Also, signs on broken paper dispensers suggest members are responsible for poor operation. Lastly, I was approached by a staff member about the “hazardous” nature of my very small pack which contained lifting gloves, iPad, headphones and phone, and asked to put it in a locker. I complied, but it seems that this location has many issues to fix before worrying about my little gym bag.
