Tried to make a manual payment on the website and update my backup billing to a charge card because my bank account keeps kicking back their billing, end up with an app that doesn't let me run a manual payment only until they've charged you a late fee. You should be able to login and make a payment at any time for any reason. And we're talking two days past a due date with no contract. Terrible service. Will be going to a different club due to a lack of customer friendly billing options.

Beware of predatory billing tactics!
I was charged the $20 delay fee after an “insufficient funds”, even though I have a 3 day grace period. Planet fitness deliberately waited until the next day of the grace period to charge my backup card with the delay fee! ( I even got funds before the charged me ) . I talked with the manager and explained to me that she can’t do anything.
So Caution with their billing system!
I’m so disappointed about this, I move a lot because of my job and had great experience in AUSTIN cedar park and Nortbrook but looks like no all the planet fitness are good!

This is a great place to work out. Very nice staff as well. There's plenty of machines for everyone. The hydro massage chairs and regular massage chairs are amazing. They are only included in the Planet Fitness Black Card membership, which i recommend highly and is worth the extra coin each month!

Wow!
I was a member of planet fitness in Albuquerque off and on for 8 years-
I am simply blown away that the one here in Newport is so fresh!
I am stoked to see the equipment is new and plentiful.
I have more than one option to lift weights as they have sections everywhere so if you are an introvert like me it’s not so scary.
The spa equipment is new and works very well.
The cleanliness of this facility is far better than the YMCA and anytime fitness combined.
The staff are all super friendly, genuine and professional.
Why did I spend so much time wasting money on the ymca when they clearly do not have the equipment to match the amount of members…and anytime where the owners clearly don’t care about maintaining or cleaning either location.
I’m so glad I made the change!
The only critique that I have is this;
The barstools are not logical for changing clothes- especially for us geriatrics and those of us who are disabled-
Would love to see low chairs

No TRX and not even an exercise or stability ball. I’ve been a member for years in different locations and this is so bizarre. Who doesn’t have an exercise ball? Posting in hopes they buy one or two. They really aren’t expensive. TRX is also not a lot to ask for given how big PF is & that alot of other locations have both. At least the exercise ball… :-/

At 8:38 pm on July 31st, I wanted to use a massage chair with my friend to relax my body after exercise, but a black female employee there said that I could not open the massage chair for my friend to use. I could use my black card rights normally in other places before and enjoy my massage chair with my friend, but your black female employee actually discriminated against us! Discrimination against Asians! Racial discrimination! I said that if only one massage chair can be opened, I will give it to my friend for massage, but she refused and made my friend wait outside! She made me feel discriminated and treated differently! I have been a black card member for many years! This is the first time I feel the failure of your employee training! Treating customers very rudely!!! I will continue to report this matter to your headquarters! I want to know if it is only your black female employees who discriminate against Asians! I think I will cancel my black card membership and write an email to the headquarters to complain about you!!! You should strengthen your employee training!!

Good gym - never too busy and always really clean. Plus with black you can bring a guest which is great - like two memberships in one. Only complaint is no racks (only smith machines) and no rowing machines. Tons of cardio equipment and decent options for everything else. Wish they had more dumbbells but usually not an issue, especially if you go during the day. Locker room is always super clean and the staff is nice!

I have visited many PF’s since joining the club 8 years ago. Most recently I had the opportunity and the pleasure to visit PF in Middleton RI.

1st and most important to me as a long time member, is the club clean, is the staff friendly, is the atmosphere positive, conducive to working out???

The answer to all of these questions is YES!!!

They keep this club in immaculate condition, I tip my cap to the club manager Najae (a great team leader). She has assembled and trained one fantastic team of people that make members like myself who go there feel warm and welcomed and sincerely appreciated.

They do one thing for certain, adhere to ALL rules. This is where most clubs drop the ball, and this club shines bright. Telephone conversations on the gym floor are prohibited. One member was working out while conversing over the phone speaker which honestly was bothersome and short lived. In 2/3 minutes a staff member abruptly put an end to this nuisance. I applauded Brittany for her firm and swift response to end this annoyance. Zoe, John, and the rest of the PF staff are one of the best teams on the Planet Fitness roster.

I highly recommend you join them if you want a club that meets and exceeds expectations of a good club, I would call this a great club in all facets of its operation. Many thanks and kudos for making my visit absolutely superb.

Small, crowded, and in no way worth the money. Additionally, military temporarily assigned to Newport beware, their membership policy is a scam. You must cancel in person or via certified letter under the guise of needing a signature. Obviously this is to make it difficult to cancel. Enjoy working out at this location. I like the hydro-massage chairs. My suggestion is the hydro-massage chairs need to be checked for proper functioning. Not all the jets work properly. The tanning beds and booths are effective. The gym is clean and inviting. Hydro-massage chair #7 was great today with even pressure.

It's a good and clean place to exercise and or workout. I go around 9:30, not very busy and being retired I don't need a lot machines. There's always a treadmill or stairs to exercise. A lot of Medicare advantage plans will pay for you to go. So old timers get off the couch and start exercising.

I was pleasantly surprised at the place. Normally, I have always worked out at the $35M facility the Navy has at the base. But amazingly, it remains in lockdown - still! The machines at Planet Fitness were newer, & of a better design. The staff is friendly, & even with the 'social distancing RI enforced guidelines, there has always been enough room, & no waiting.

I have already decided (after just 2 visits) that I will be remaining a member when the Navy gym finally does reopen. Easier access, closer to home, very inexpensive - all that makes it a no brainer!

Now the above was written in mid-2020. I am still a member today, >3yrs later. O remain very grateful that a Planet Fitness is not far from my home, is well managed, & the equipment kept fully functional.

To summarize, I wouldn't even think of working out anywhere else!

Poor customer service at the Middletown, RI, Planet Fitness. Unfortunately, there cancellation and transfer policy is extremely inflexible for students who leave the area for college. Unable to transfer the remaining month to my other student and have to cancel 7 days in advance or you get charged for the next month…ridiculous. Stay away and be ware of their poor cancellation and transfer policy. Plus they require you to cancel in person or by snail mail. Lost a future customer here for sure.

The price is good and that’s about it, I only lasted 2 weeks. Staff is completely lazy! They sit at the front counter and don’t enforce their own rules. I joined for the 30 min circuit workout for an after work quick workout, completely impossible! People are just sitting in the room! And when i brought that to the employee attention, they just said “nothing I can do about it”. Today was the last straw, never use this facility again. And if you are into real workouts, I suggest you move past this joke of a gym!!!

Several machines sit in disrepair.and some sound pretty rickety especially the treadmills..The floor areas are cramped and it's always a wait for particular machines.The staff at the front desk are pretty useless typically stand around with a.blank stare .The PF in East Providence is a much better choice with plentiful machines and huge space .If you have a black card we would recommend that location .the only upside is this location is close to home

Been a member here for a month or so and the one and only lay down leg curl machine has been out of order. Especially when it’s the only machine of its kind, when it goes down, get it fixed. Please. Gym is small and the “classes” cramp an area that has some unique equipment in it. Stand-alone area for classes would be much better for the regular daily gym-goers.

They say no commitment, cancel any time, but they make it exceedingly difficult to cancel. They also have the option to keep part of what you paid for and didn't use if you cancel. Not to mention requiring Checking and Routing numbers to your bank account for monthly payments. Absurd.

Relocated to Oregon, club refuses to transfer membership for cancellation. Each time I have called the staff has been very difficult. They told me I must cancel in person. Went to the local club here 45 minutes from where I live to cancel. This club wouldn't even cancel the membership from a fellow club, as I was instructed. Absolutely terrible customer service. Now I have the pleasure of going to the post office and standing in line to send a certified letter during a pandemic. Kudos to the Management and staff at Planet Fitness in Middletown, RI. They make sure the gym is spotless and sanitized to meet and/or exceed anyone’s expectations, and they can be regularly seen working to maintain these criteria. I love PF. Everyone goes about doing their own thing. The only thing I don't like about the PF in Middletown is that I have a Black card membership and their tanning bed bulbs are never changed. They say they agree but the same 11 bulbs have been blown out for over a year in the same exact spots. That would not be a a coincidence would it? I went to others and geez...they were, hot, bright, no blown out bulbs, not ev even 1 and you could actually notice a difference in less than 5 tans. Also Middletown you cant go within 24 hours so if your schedule is different each day, you have to skip days because it will be less than 24 hours and other PF you just sign a log each day as long as you only go 1 time a day it doesn't matter. I feel like you lost out on your black card in Middletown but I'm stuck because i work 2 jobs and don't have time to travel to others. Other than the training thing. I love the gym areas.

I was in Newport for a month, planet fitness allowed me a simple one time payment to use their gym for the duration of my visit. The gym is very well maintained with kind staff and members.
