The new changes done Oct 2025 are not an improvement. Use to have three abs machines and down to one which nobody likes. Other duplicate machines were removed so you wait for the machine hogs or skip. The elliptical machines were cut by more than half so expect those to fill up as well. Also, bring binoculars if you like seeing the TVs while doing cardio from the new layout.

Nice gym! The staff is happy and remembered us when we came. They have more massage chairs and tanning than the other locations nearby. It’s clean and I like that there’s spray so you can actually sanitize your equipment instead of wiping it
Big parking lot so you always have a place to park and it’s also accessible by bus which is great for me but there didn’t appear to be a place to lock up your bike
There are plenty of machines here but as someone else mentioned - the stair steppers are out of order still.

An ok Planet Fitness, very busy. Most days, especially Mondays, the gym gets packed, but I can usually find a treadmill. Crowd thins out as the week goes on. The ladies’ room has always been nice and clean for me (although my husband has had bad experiences walking into a gross men’s room). They have TONS of ellipticals that no one is ever using - I wish they would get rid of them and increase the treadmills and weight machines. Speaking of, weight machines are always busy and waits can be long for the machines you need. A lot of college age kids go here, and they can often be seen sitting on the weight equipment scrolling on their phones instead of moving on. I also never see anyone but me wiping down machines. Overall, it’s not my favorite PF - staff are not super nice, tons of gym bros, ripped college kids, and college girls in tight cute little workout outfits who kinda just stand there and don’t actually do anything but block the machines you need. My biggest issue with this gym is how early they close on the weekends!!! The membership is cheap but almost not worth it to me when I can’t stay later than 10pm on weekdays or after 7pm on weekends. It’s not feasible if you work during the day and need to have dinner on the table for family and rest before you can hit the gym. Finally, at the time of this review, you cannot switch gyms or end your membership at this location online. You must go in person and sign a digital form. Such a scammy business practice. You get what you pay for I guess.

I love the regional manager the people there are awesome to work with. They’re always respectful and kind of the regional manager is very funny. I love him and everyone else is great. I brought a friend there one time and it was amazing and I had a great time, but I didn’t work for them. I mean, I did work for them, but I didn’t work in that location and I wish I could, but I work in Warwick, but I wish I could work in North Providence but overall I had a great time bringing a friend in and that was the best memory I ever ever had

I really enjoy my experience at Planet Fitness in North Providence! The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the facility is clean and well-maintained. Great place to get a great workout... Two things that management ought to do.
#1 Signs read cell phone use in lobby only. Yet people chat on their phones with the speaker on, very irritating.
#2 Loud people apparently thinking it's party time..but they disturb others. Have yet to see anybody at the desk say anything to the idiots.

I used to go to this gym over 6 or 7 months ago and ended up having two knee surgeries and so unfortunately had to stop going. I've noticed they were still trying to charge my card and were charging my account so I contacted them and they told me I had to speak to their manager which I did they gave me an email to the manager which I emailed and told him I cannot physically make it to the gym because of my surgeries if they could please stop charging my account and since then they have still attempted to charge my account sometimes the charge doesn't go through and then sometimes it does so my account has been charged over six different times and they won't stop charging my account even though I don't go to the gym anymore. Where's the integrity and sympathy for people. PLEASE STOP CHARGING MY ACCOUNT. James McNamara

The North Providence location It's very convenient. It is always immaculately clean. Just recently I dropped my wallet in the gym and one of the workers at the desk.Put it aside for me, Which was very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend.

Updated Review:
After posting the previous review, planet fitness corporate team reached out to me. They advised me to pass my information to regional management to appeal the $15 rate. Then after another two weeks or so, I received a call from the manager informing me that they went over my case and denied me again for the $10 per month rate. I was really disappointed and all that back and forth and wait just to hear that they denied my request again.

So, then I reported this incident to the better business bureau. And finally planet fitness responded back and agreed to drop my rate back to $10 which previously wasn’t possible??

It is sad that I have to make this review. This is a clean, spacious and well kept gym. When John was the manager I never had any issues. However the recent experiences really disappointed me.

As a military member I often have to suspend/cancel my membership for various period of time due to travel. Towards the end of 2023, I had to suspend due to long period of travel. I handed the worker the necessary documents including military orders to suspend my account. However since he or the manager didn't properly suspend my account I was continued being charged membership fee as well as the annual fee. Even though I was refunded the membership fee after I got back from travels, I still paid the annual fee when I was only using the gym for less than 2 months. This is the first time this location demonstrated the disconnect of communications between management and the staff as well as incompetency.

Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I noticed the sign about the membership fee being increased to $15 dollars. It said "Last Chance" for new members to sign up for $10 per month before it increases. Since it didn't mention anything about current black members (which I was at the time), I was concerned that if I downgrade after the deadline I may not go back to $10 per month (which I was planning to downgrade after the deadline). I asked the staff working there if I would go back to $10 or $15 if I downgrade after the deadline. She said that the price increase only applies to new member (which I was not a new member) and I would go back to $10 per month. After hearing what she said about the policy, I decided to downgrade on the week of 10th of July.

So on the Monday of 10th of July, I tried to downgrade the account with the manger (The staff that I spoke to was on vacation). He told me that I would go down to $15 per month which totally contradicts what the staff said to 3 weeks prior. He said that he would reach out to the staff to collaborate my story and push my concerns up to the upper management. As someone who worked in customer service, I don't believe he did anything he promised.

So today on the last day that I could downgrade, I spoke to the staff that was on vacation at the front desk. I asked if the manager reached out to her about my situation and she said no. She collaborated with my story and apologized for giving me the wrong information. She reached out to the manager but he said that upper management declined my request to go down to $10 per month. So of course I had no choice but to downgrade to $15 per month.

To me this is totally unacceptable where a business does not take the responsibility of the action of a staff. If a doctor/nurse of a hospital gave the wrong advice to a patient and caused harm/death, I am pretty sure the hospital is liable. I am being charged more money because of total disconnect between the management and their staff. Not being trained on their actual policy and gave the wrong information.

I really don't want to quit this gym but I felt being taken advantage of. As a military member, I always tried to do what is right by people. I don't believe a corporation as large as Planet Fitness is unable to correct their mistake.

So for anyone looking to become a new member, be aware of these practices Planet Fitness employs. Where the local management can deflect responsibility to upper management. Then upper management deflects responsibility to local management.

The gym facilities are clean and well maintained. Space is welcoming and staff are attentive. I would give a five however the parking lot is full of trash, mainly McDonald’s trash. That said PF gets most of the trash blown over so the curb appeal is disappointing.

My experience at Planet Fitness has been fantastic. Returning to the gym with my friend has been a breeze. The facility is consistently clean, the staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere truly embodies a judgment-free zone. I've had a PF membership for years, but sadly lapsed in my visits for longer than I wish to mention. Late last year I transferred my membership to this location, and have really enjoyed coming here. It's a convenient spot, with a well-lit parking lot, many clean machines, and a variety of equipment you can choose from. It's made keeping true to my resolution easier.

My favorite gym hands down. Been coming here since it was Ballys total firness. This place has real history. How i used to utilize the jacuzzi after work out or even swim a mile. But they no longer maintain pool or jacuzzi. Still top gym in rhode island. Great staff.

Nobody told me that if you cancel your membership you have to before 10th of the month otherwise you will be charged even after you cancel your membership. I had multiple calls with the manager and all she said was it was mentioned when you signed this document! When you call the corporate office they ask you to talk to the gym manager! But it’s so hard to get classes with her because there’s too many planning workout courses & not enough actual working out courses.
